Who needs overpriced omakase when you can get an Ebiko spread at home. I've been visiting Ebiko for years, and the quality is consistently amazing. This hidden gem is a sushi deli selling a small but very satisfying selection of rolls, nigiri, sashimi, chirashi, and vegetarian-friendly options, along with a handful of Japanese grocery store items. There's also a kaisen hand roll party tray available for pre-order--it's a beautiful work of art that comes with edible flowers, but I personally prefer a la cart because I'm not a huge fan of uni and ebi. I wish they had customizable options for the party tray, but I'm already highly satisfied with the a-la-carte offerings. My go-to's, although you really can't go wrong: - omakase nigiri set - salmon aburi (seared to melt-in-your goodness, my personal favorite) - unagi nigiri (unagi is so fresh and the cuts are generous) - California roll (ft real snow crab) Notes: - No seating area, but I heard that you can bring your food to eat at Tea on Piedmont across the street - Metered street parking, not impossible to find a spot but may have to circle around - Staff are friendly and efficient at check-out - They don't charge extra for a bag :D (I try to bring my own, but sometimes I forget in the excitement for their sushi. Literally the only downside is that it's closed on Sundays.

My sister and I went on a little fridate and stumbled upon this place while looking for somewhere new to walk around and try. We’ve heard of Ebiko in SF but never had the chance to go since it’s usually packed, so we were excited to find the Oakland location with much less of a crowd. The prices were really reasonable, especially considering how fresh everything was. We absolutely fell in love with the torched salmon belly and the uni ikura bowl. This is definitely a must-try for sushi lovers, you won’t be disappointed. I’d for sure come back again with my sister when we get the chance.

Extremely delicious and high quality sushi! Was pleasantly surprised since take-out sushi doesn’t tend to be this good. I believe they use real snow crab for the California rolls. Prices are also extremely affordable. I’m obsessed and will definitely return!

This takeout only spot has the MOST affordable and FRESH sashimi and sushi in the entire Bay!! The omakase box features fresh pieces of salmon, tuna, fatty tuna, roe, and scallop for $16.99. Zero fishiness at all. But my favorite is actually the seared salmon—omg it literally melts in your mouth 👌🏻👌🏻 The California roll uses actual snow crab and all their other rolls are good too. Only thing is they don’t open on weekends but they have a location in SF now. Highly recommend!

When I'm craving sashimi or sushi that's fresh and reasonably priced, I always head to Ebiko. Ebiko is a quick stop-and-shop in Piedmont, wish fresh sushi, nigiri, sashimi and more! It's mainly for takeout. The service is good and friendly! Mainly just the chefs in the back and hostess/cashier. Since it's a shop without seating, the vibe feels like a convenient store with snacks and drinks as well. Parking can be a pain, but if you emergency park, I'm sure you'll be in and out under 5minutes. Overall, great store for sushi and I would always recommend friends to stop by here when visiting!

A really great find! Lots of options for good quality sushi. We got the chirashi bowl, salmon aburi and unagi nigiri, and they all tasted fresh. They also have a small market with some japanese drinks and snacks. Saved to my map for when we are back in the area!

Holy value, all of this for $50. Fish was soooo fresh and delicious, nice cuts. Loved the variety!!! Super duper cute takeout store and they were constantly restocking the fridge. I would come here every day if I could

The sushi here is really fresh. I especially love the Shiraishi bowl, which has a Medley of salmon, tuna, small and large fish roe. They also put egg and crab in there too! So good! Other notables include unagi rolls, 6 piece omakase and salmon rolls. Also, if they are out of your item you want, just let them know and perhaps they can make it for you in the back.

My absolute favorite affordable and delicious sushi spot. The one piece of scallop you get in the sushi assortment tray is so good my eyes will roll back in my head. Perfect for taking to a picnic in the cemetery. Seriously. I love this spot. I wish it were open on Sundays.

So good! I had 3 different boxes of sushi, it was all so fresh, the fish was buttery and delicious. It’s very good quality, great price. Not going anywhere else again.

I wanted a quick light snack so I stopped in here because I never don't want sushi. I was completely shocked by the quality of sushi at the price point. Really delicious omakase set and aburi salmon. I ate my sushi at the tea place next door and it was perfect. They had a lot of options including sides (miso soup, seaweed salad, etc.) and Japanese snacks. I will definitely be back soon to buy much more sushi!

Highly recommend this spot. Decent price for the quality of sushi. Think sushi to go but high quality. Plus there is a small snack shelf and drinks you can grab to go.

Unbelievable. I'm from out of town and thus sushi is one of the best. First off it is take out only. I've never seen such quality like this for takeout. It's so fresh and the fish tastes so clean. Truly a gem

Incredibly neat joint to get fresh sushi. The rolls are very fairly priced considering the quality. Lots of options to choose from, including some other Japanese drinks and snacks. There’s only one small bench outside, so takeout is recommended. Definitely worth stopping by!

Best hidden secret. I have a hard time not visiting this place daily. There are so many options of rolls, rice bowls, and side dishes to-go. I believe most items are raw. Small amount of bon fish options rolls. Kids favorites are the avocado roll and California rolls There are a ton of Japanese snacks like pocky, shrimp chips, chocolate covered almonds, hi chews, wasabi peas a number of drinks. The staff are great, always friendly and have good recommendations . I've been visiting this place since they opened and every time I go they've got something new. Prices are right.

Ran in here on a whim and got the seared salmon and fatty tuna bowl. SOOOO GOOOD. Not bad pricing either for the quality. We got two rolls and a bowl to share for $36. Will be going back. There’s nowhere to sit and eat so you grab and go. But there is one bench outside but we sat on a brick ledge next to the bench because we couldn’t wait.

If you’re looking for reasonably priced sushi that is strictly to-go, come to Ebiko. The quality of sushi is somewhere between “restaurant quality sushi” and “good grocery store sushi”, so it’s actually a proper sushi meal.

It's great, I pick up from here frequently. Always super fresh and good, high quality at a good rate. It's not a restaurant, and you don't need to order ahead. The sushi is prepared and you just grab and go.

I wish I could say that this was good. It's the cute little store with an excellent location but the fish was tasteless, the rice was overcooked and we actually ended up eating a few bites and throwing the rest away, except for the pickles which were quite tasty. I hate wasting food and I hate wasting money but I really could not bring myself to eat anymore. I have no idea but neither are so many good reviews. Maybe we were there on a bad day. I won't be going back to find out. This is a takeout facility so a lot of the questions are not applicable.

Atmosphere sucks, no space to look at the selection of sushi. If one couple decides to stand in the middle, well, tough luck, have to wait for these indecisive people to think for 5 minutes on what they want while blocking the entire selection.
