I was in Dallas for a conference and whenever I go to Texas, always look for barbecue. I asked the people at the desk of the hotel but they haven’t heard about slow bones. They said no but I decided to try it anyway I’m so glad I did. The food was so very tasteful. I had barbecue chicken squash casserole the whipped sweet potatoes. If it dessert I had the cornbread bread pudding I highly recommend anyone who’s in Dallas to try this place. You won’t regret it.

Very good BBQ with friendly service. TIP: Consider ordering just the “mini” sandwich because it’s more than big enough for your average adult human.

The guy up front was awesome! Very welcoming and very knowledgeable! Helped me figure out what I wanted to order and came through with basically a sampler platter so I could try a little bit of everything! Although everything had TONS of flavor, for me, it was just slightly too salty (been cutting back). That might not be a bad thing for everyone else though. Sausage casing isn’t as snappy as I’d like, fried chicken was super crunchy and the brine held in! Ribs were fall off the bone and flavorful. The most surprising was the pulled pork, it wasn’t bland like most places! Full of flavor as well and juicy. Paired with the bbq sauce, damn near perfect! If there’s something better, I’ve never heard of it!

There are a lot of good (and bad) BBQ places in DFW and I don’t know why The Slow Bone doesn’t get more love! I have been a few times and it is one of the most consistently great spots you will find. Today I tried the BBQ Reuben and it was absolutely remarkable. Great brisket and the sandwich as a whole may legitimately be the best sandwich I have ever had. Slow Bone is also known for their sides so we saved room for those too. Greens, Beans, Brussels Sprouts and Cauliflower Au Gratin, Mustard Cole Slaw, and Hushpuppies were all excellent and there were many other options I would love to try. The service was quick and friendly and the restaurant is very clean and inviting. If you want too tier BBQ you need to get in here. (You need to get in here if you love fried Chicken too!).

First stop in Texas after we got off the plane. Well worth the trip. Delicious brisket and ribs. Looking forward to a return trip soon.

This was some of the best BBQ I had in Texas. Incredible stuff here. I got a monster sized beef rib which was pricey but definitely worth it. My friends got the brisket, and pork ribs and it looked amazing as well. Great sauces. Also the sides they have here are so unique, I got Brussels sprouts aug rotten and squash. The Mac and cheese looked incredible. Really fast service, and this place is a gem in Dallas.

Whoa! 🤯 🤩 I had the brisket and the fried chicken, greens and lemonade. It was so good and tender and flavorful that it’s not need sauce. Seriously delicious! 🤤 I am going back to try more! Well done, Slow Bone, well done! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Deserving of every star.

Slow Bone BBQ in Dallas sets the bar high for Texas barbecue. The brisket is tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. The ribs fall off the bone and have the perfect bark. Every bite shows attention to detail and slow-cooked mastery. The sides stand out as much as the meat. The mac and cheese, collard greens, and sweet potato casserole all taste homemade. Portions are generous, and everything arrives hot and fresh. Service is quick, friendly, and efficient even when the line stretches out the door. The staff keeps things moving without losing the personal touch. The atmosphere is casual but full of life—classic BBQ joint energy with plenty of seating and a steady buzz. Slow Bone is a must-visit for anyone who takes barbecue seriously. 5 stars.

Stopped by late in the day on Friday for lunch. Fried rice was incredible, the ribs that topped it literally fell off the bone. Also got some brisket, tomato cucumber salad, mac and cheese, and cornbread pudding. Everything was delicious, but I had a religious experience eating the cornbread pudding because it was so amazing. The house made bbq sauces are also good, though the sriracha wasn't very spicy. Would recommend!

“Slow Bone BBQ: Where pork chops are measured in pounds, not ounces, and fried chicken makes you rethink life choices.” TL;DR: Bring your appetite and maybe a wheelbarrow. Order the pork chop, brisket, ribs, hush puppies, horseradish potato salad, and for heaven’s sake, the fried chicken. Save room for the Fluffer Nutter Banana Pudding, or prepare to negotiate dessert rights with your spouse when you get home. For the 16th stamp on my Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ tour, I pointed the truck toward Dallas and rolled into Slow Bone BBQ on a Sunday afternoon. The lunch rush had come and gone, but the pits were still working like champions, serving up award-winning meats that have made this place a Dallas staple for over a decade. I walked in and felt like a kid staring at the world’s most glorious meat counter. Brisket? Check. Pork ribs? Oh yes. And then, like a sign from the BBQ gods, the Sunday special: a pork chop the size of a cowboy’s saddle beckoned me. I didn’t hesitate. On the side, I wrangled some horseradish potato salad that had a kick like a mule and a serving of “Brussels Flower” au gratin that I picked up to take home for the Side Dish Queen herself. Toss in some hush puppies, and I was one happy man. Dessert? The Fluffer Nutter Banana Pudding. If this thing didn’t make it home, I’d be sleeping in the truck. Pitmaster Jeffery Hobbs himself stopped to chat, and let me tell you, this man is not just a pitmaster, he’s a brisket whisperer. My tray arrived, and the pork chop was a showstopper: perfectly smoked, juicy, and thick enough to be a meal for two but destined to be conquered by one determined Uncle Sean. The ribs were tender and rich with smoke, the brisket melted like butter, and that potato salad had just enough horseradish bite to make me grin like a fool. I boxed up the leftovers, proud of my restraint, only to remember I had not secured any of their legendary fried chicken. I stormed back in, ordered two pieces, and the staff fried them up fresh on the spot. That chicken? Pure magic. Crispy, juicy, seasoned like it had been blessed by a grandmother who’s been running cast-iron skillets since 1930. I made it home without taking a single bite, and my wife and I shared it like royalty unwrapping treasure. Best fried chicken either of us had tasted. Passport stamp achieved. T-shirt stamp earned. Sunday well spent, belly full, wife happy. I’ve got 34 more stops to go, and if they’re anything like this one, I may need a bigger truck and a looser belt. They call it Slow Bone, but my appetite worked through that tray at lightning speed.

O.m.g. Best bbq I have EVER put in my mouth. Delicious!!!! The cornbread, bread pudding is the perfect bite to end the meal. Get in, order the meat!! Enjoying life 1 bite, 1 sip and 1 small town at a time. Enjoy everything!!

This was proper Texas BBQ. Order at the counter and proceed down the line for all your food. The Brisket had just enough fat on it to be moist and had a taste that could make you cry. The ribs tasted like bacon just firm enough for a good bite but still ready to come off the bone. The chili Mac was a delight of comfort food that made me wish it was cold outside so I could warm myself with an entire pot of it. The collards were not bad. Small patio area for outdoor seating and a decent sized parking lot. The line moved fast but the employees were super nice and helpful. They also had a nice beer selection which was really great to get a local beer to go with the meat. Really our favorite BBQ spot of the many we tried.

If you find yourself in Dallas and haven’t been to Slow Bone BBQ, you’re seriously missing out. This place is a straight-up Texas gem. I rolled in with an appetite and left absolutely satisfied after devouring their ½ pound brisket—it was smoky, tender, and melted in my mouth like it had been crafted by pitmaster angels. The crispy tots and sweet, crumbly cornbread were the perfect sidekicks, making this meal one to remember. From the second I walked in, the staff was welcoming, upbeat, and quick to serve, even during a busy lunch rush. The vibe inside is casual and fun, with a laid-back, down-home atmosphere that invites you to stay a while. There’s no pretension here—just great food, friendly people, and plenty of room to stretch out. Whether you’re dining solo or bringing the whole crew, there’s ample seating and parking, which is a rare and welcome surprise in Dallas. What really stood out to me is that Slow Bone isn’t just for the hardcore meat lovers (though they’re in for a treat). They’ve got thoughtful options for vegans too, making it a spot where everyone can find something delicious. This place is now firmly on my list of go-to BBQ joints—not just in Dallas, but anywhere. Come hungry, leave happy, and maybe even grab an extra slice of brisket for the road. You’ll be glad you did.

Delicious food! Some of the best Pork ribs I’ve ever had. The brisket is on point! Smoked chicken is great! The bbq sauce, the pickles & the cornbread are also very tasty! No complaints. Great service! We will be back for sure 👍🏽

Price was a shocker but the quality was well worth it. It’s a small restaurant but has a great flow. Brisket was great, best mac and cheese was awesome with a little spice. Huge chunk of cornbread perfect baked and not too crumbly. The fried okra was really good. Be sure to try the small assortment of unique condiments.

Took a walk down to SLOW BONE Texas BBQ place……all I can say is …..yumm The place has a lot of parking and is conveniently location on the junction of Wycliff and Irving. There’s parking all around the location which just goes to show the popularity of the place which speaks directly to the quality of the food produced. So it’s predominantly Texas BBQ straight up or in burgers or a sandwich, they offer a variety of sides to go with it. The staff are pretty experienced and took orders politely and got them right the first time. This is a pleasant surprise given that for some restaurants you always have to repeat yourself. We moved through the line fairly quickly and in 5minutes we had gotten our order and moved to a table. The food, pork ribs brisket, was juicy and not dry. All their meat was “fall of the bone”. It’s something that needs to be experienced. The beans were succulent and sweet. The cornbread was out of this world. The juice to go with your meal just hit the spot. The rustic ambience of the place was welcoming and friendly. They also sell their rubs in case you’re wanting to do some meat smoking BBQ at home. All in all it was a nice experience, excellent service, tasty food, wonderful drinks and just overall deserved a four star rating. They’re open from 11am to 3pm so get in early and get your smoky juices satisfied. Recommended for a bite with family or friends. Pure bliss if BBQ is your thing. “SLOW BONE” a must experience in Fort Worth Texas. Let’s get it……

The food and overall vibe at The Slow Bone were fantastic. The signature dishes all looked incredibly tempting. I went with the Texas Nail sandwich and a piece of their award-winning fried chicken. The sides were a highlight, making it tough to choose just a few. I settled on the horseradish potato salad, mustard slaw, and a sweet potato with pralines for dessert. The sides were hearty and delicious. The jalapeño sauce on the Texas Nail added a fantastic kick, though I wasn’t crazy about their BBQ sauce. The solid beer selection was a big plus! The service was excellent—staff were friendly, patient, and attentive. The restaurant itself is cozy and well-kept, with tables in the back and high stools up front. Parking can be a hassle during peak times due to limited spaces. Pricing: A bit steep, especially for the sides, which kept it from a perfect 5-star rating. Overall, it’s a great spot for top-notch barbecue. Will I return? Absolutely!

Really good bbq amongst some great options in the area. We got there about quarter to noon and there was no line. We got a giant beef rib that was a pound and a half itself, a half pound ish of pork ribs and The Pit, a patty of mixed meat ends and bits. It was all great, sauce was good, overall good experience. EXPENSIVE, but if you want cheap meats, you go to Dickies.

Sliced brisket and pork ribs were delicious! All their side dishes are interesting. Did not care for the potato salad....WAY too much horseradish for my taste. Mac and cheese is different but good. They're mashed sweet potato praline is DIVINE! They're bar-b-que sauce is again different but it was not my favorite. Great meat! Sides that I've tried so far are ranging from divine to no thank you to good to ok. Choose wisely

One of the best TX briskets? Probably! Also loved their sides and services. They close at 3pm so it was pretty empty when we went there. Nevertheless, very good experience.

I was actually leaving my favorite spot for lunch right across the street and happened to look up to see the immense pile-up of cars and long line at The Slow Bone and made a mental note. Did some digging and most folks were giving this place a pretty solid rating, and I thought "it has to be good...or at least worth to try". And BOY am I glad that I went ahead and pulled that move. YES, the prices aren't ideal and for me getting a good deal factors into my rating...but I DO endorse the 'go ahead and give this place a try' nod. I've tried the brisket, chicken, and ribs (not all at once) and it was all some good eating. The sides are the jam as well. The standouts that I suggest are the Brussels Sprout and Cauliflower Casserole and Mac n' cheese (some of the best I've eaten). It's a fairly straight-forward set-up, you're in and ordering your meats and picking your sides from behind the cafeteria-style prep area and you're off to the races to find a seat. Not much of a wait since things are smoked/prepared hours in advance. That brings up 2 points for me: 1. The hours say they're open until 3pm, but the closer it is to 3, the higher probability that they run out of a meat...so be prepared for that trade-off of less people and possibly less/no food. 2. I would say that I really enjoy this place for the smoked/grilled meats and sides but not "BBQ" per se. BBQ entails the sauce and I'm not a fan of it straight up, there's just not enough of a kick to it. They do provide ketchup and sriracha to spice up the sauce and that improves things, but for me...nah, it just doesn't do it. But I don't need my meats drippin' in sauce to enjoy them. All-in-all the slow bone is a definite get over and try it out restaurant for lunch.

I got fatty brisket, hickory sausage, and pork ribs. It was all tender and juicy, good flavors, but nothing special. Ribs were a little too peppery. Brisket lacked a little flavor, but the bark was good. Service was great. I wouldn’t be opposed to coming back

We saw they made the texas top 50 bbqs and stopped on our drive up to KC on a Saturday morning. I appreciated they allow you to place online to go orders before opening so we placed an order for 11:15 at 10:45am. They do have a to go pickup spot which makes things easy. We were eating in the car so were somewhat limited in what we could get but were surprised the line when they opened was only 10 ppl long and was gone after 5-10 minutes. We got the brisket and turkey, and the chicken sandwich. The meats were both pretty good and the sandwich was decent but can be skipped next time, for me anyways. The sauces were all really good and overall, happy with the food. The people working there were not friendly and I was also dissapointed how much extra charge there is for to go food...it almost makes me push this down to 3 stars but I'll leave it at 4. It's not a texas top 50 place for me based on the service alone but if they get some friendly people that want to be there, I'd be okay with amending that statement.

Friendly service. Delicious BBQ. I had the smoked turkey with grilled squash and brisket beans with hush puppies - very good. My husband had the Texas Nail sandwich and said it was really good. Our friend had the porkaholic and enjoyed it.

Slow Bone has earned a spot in Texas Monthly Magazine's 2021 The 50 Best BBQ Joints. And deservedly so. This was our 90th 'cue stop in Texas, and a thoroughly enjoyable one. We opted for a quarter pound of fatty brisket, a half pound of jalapeno cheddar sausage, 2 pieces of fried chicken (white meat), 2 pieces of cornbread, two hush puppies, a pint of horseradish potato salad, and a serving of Brussels sprouts au gratin. With the exception of the very dry hush puppies, everything else was on point. The brisket is buttery in texture, with good bark, smoke and flavor, but be warned: the fatty end cuts are roughly 50% fat, which we discarded. The sausage is exquisite, the chicken sensational-- a term that could be equally applied to the potato salad and Brussels sprouts. And what can one say about the cornbread? It is one of the best that we have encountered in Texas, a truly sublime bite! We highly recommend this restaurant, which has seating both inside and out, but severely limited parking. It's best to be there around the opening.

First time trying this place however, I've tried different locations rated best in Dallas. This is what I think. Pros: great location for meat plates or sandwiches, has lots of sides, seating, parking, and friendly. Cons: There's no tri tip, and each item can be pricey so be prepared to spend, lastly desserts could have been better compared to other locations.

Went to slow bone today as we make our way through the Texas Monthly top 50 - plus we saw them on diners, drive ins, and dives! The Meat -Pork Ribs were excellent! Had such an amazing flavor. Only downside - they were cold. Not room temperature, but legitimately cold. -Brisket was really tasty, I enjoyed the flavor that came from the wood they use. I will note that it is really fatty (even when requesting lean). -Fried chicken was amazing! The chicken was juicy and flavorful. The Sides - Fries and tots (not pictured) were so yummy and the only side I’d get again. -Mac and cheese and okra (not pictured) we’d pass on. We weren’t a huge fan of the sides. The corn bread was the best my husband has ever had! Parking available, no wait, great service. I’d definitely come back!

**Update** After going to Terry Black's & personally meeting the manager about their beef ribs & how available and great they were, I'm DEFINITELY never coming back to this restaurant. Still never received an apology for the misinformation.. and never coming back here! I gotta say.. I'm pretty disappointed and feel scammed with how I was led on to beleive that purchasing an item that was not online would be available today. First impressions are everything and when I was told that the Beef Ribs would be available to purchase, I was told they were sold out.. all 4lbs they allegedly had for the day. By 12:30pm? Sure.. The solution? Oh, just come tomrrow and we'll have some more..not really convincing at all. After ordering food too & getting confirmation via email that they received my online order.. The other food I ordered was good, like the okra and the greens, but when being called and emailed day prior just to be told the day of something different.. inexcusable. More than likely not coming back..
