Legit Tiki Bar, been going here for 20yrs and it's been consistently great. They have some unique cocktails on their menu, the staff are always friendly and produce visually attractive high quality drinks. They are also very efficient, some Tiki places have you waiting for your drinks, not here. Decor is outstanding and vintage.

Pretty unassuming on the outside, but really quirky and cool on the inside. Their cocktails truly are good (most have rum, but I think they have a full bar and could really make anything). Everything seemed pretty fairly priced - roughly $10-12 for their signature cocktails.

Went with a friend for the first time. It's hard to tell what you are walking into. All the windows are blacked out on the outside so it's deceiving. When you walk in the door, you are greated with wood trim and lights everywhere. Very cool vibe on the inside and you kind of forget that you just walked off the streets of Oakland. The drink got was very well made, perfect mix. Checking out was easy too. Will be back!

They only have chips to eat ,but a solid pizza joint that sells pizza by the slice is in walking distance. You know goes great with mai tai an underberg lol 😆, make sure to tip your bar tenders , Rita ,Cameron Chris are solid 👌 drinks are killer try the chichi with rum instead of vodka.

My mom and I recently moved to Oakland and as we’ve become more acquainted with the city we stumbled upon Kona club as a dear friend recommended it to us. Every time we arrive at Kona we are instantly greeted by the extremely friendly bartender Michael! He’s done such a great job not only becoming a friendly face in a city full of strangers to us but also each time he is our bartender he makes sure my mom gets exactly the drink she asks for (she can be a bit specific in her wants!!) and he delivers every time with a smile! We’ve loved this establishment so much that we make sure to go at least twice a month knowing we will be served by the most attentive and friendly staff. I cannot recommend Kona enough and if Michael happens to be your bartender know you are in great hands!

This eclectic mix of neighborhood watering hole and Tiki bar is a gem on piedmont ave. The bartenders are fantastic making excellent on menu tiki cocktails that never disappoint as well as many amazing off menu drinks and original concoctions! They have giant connect four, dice behind the bar, and a pool table with one of the more welcoming group of local players in Oakland.

There are two bars that you can find me at every weekend. And one of those is the Kona Club. Well, well, well, where do I even BEGIN to describe the Kona Club?! Let's start with the outside. The place always looks completely shut down. But as soon as you venture within, you will find that it is FAR from that. It feels like stepping into the islands! Immaculate decor, great vibes, and delicious drinks. My personal favorites are the Chi Chi and the Beachcomber Zombie. Even a church-going, southern grandma would shake her booty for a Chi Chi. The bartenders match the perfection of the beverages 100%. So quick, fun, and talented! Their drinks are works of art. Michael is my man. He is so delightful and always makes me feel right at home, and very safe, which is crucial for a young woman. Michael makes the most delicious drinks (including one he once sent on behalf of me to a cutie guy at the other end of the bar...thanks Michael lol). If you're looking for a trip to the islands close to home, shimmy your way down to the KC!!!

Strong drinks, nice staff, and a lovely atmosphere. I've booked this place for a birthday gathering quite a few times pre-social distancing. Highly recommend a chi-chi if you can handle sweet drinks. There is a pool table in the back but it can be hard to get play time.

Kona Club is hands down my favorite tiki bar in the Bay Area. The staff is rad. The handful of times I have been here have been memorable in the best way. Michael has been super nice and helpful whenever I can’t figure out what I want to drink. And damn am I indecisive about that. He always gets me :)

I loved this place and I had a good time there. I don't drink a lot. I had a single beer here with a friend and I really enjoyed my time while I was there. The bartender was friendly. I had a beer and my friend had a virgin cocktail. Both tasted great! 🍻🍹👍👍

Kona Club to close out our Friday night, and I'll tell you what this should have been a Speakeasy Tiki Bar because walking up I thought I was being memed on. Greeted by Amazingly friendly door men, and other patrons. Alas the doors open and you are instantly immersed in a paradise of awesome music, (which should have been karaoke by the amount of engagement it was receiving with singing and dancing, song after classic song) not enough Smash Mouth in my humble opinion, haha. But it definitely didn't disappoint. The drinks where themed correctly with some cool twists and the bartenders where on point with their recommendations and authentic presence. This place was made for making friends. So come have some fun, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. And if you are then you definitely shouldn't be here. Haha. Other noteworthy things, A pool table in its own game area, a complete other chill area on the other side of the wall from the bar with huge connect four / forever. This place was awesome. Thanks for the fun new friends.

This was my favorite spot during my final year at Cal (2023). I took almost all of my friends here. I even brought my parents here for a drink on the day of my commencement. The atmosphere is most often calm, with a majority local patrons. I even felt comfortable coming here as a woman on my own because I knew the bartenders would look out for me. Special shout out to Michael who always made sure I was not only safe but also having a good time! Love the kona club <333

A fun long-standing Tiki bar with quality art and a chill out vibe. The classic cocktails like 1944 Mai Tai are excellent and reasonably priced. Don't expect exotica music. This is one of the few Tiki bars that plays alternative music and it works anyhow.

This is a reaaaaly cool bar with a cool atmosphere, excellent taste of music and tons of tasty cocktails. You can easily become a regular if you live close by.

Lovely little neighborhood tiki bar. Tina the bartender was awesome and so fun to talk to. Great and really affordable drinks. The signature chi chi was great, the painkiller was delicious. Definitely recommend if you want to do the tiki circuit.

Looks like a fun place, but Sunday just after opening, not so much. Drinks were good though. I'll try again at a more appropriate time.

I know it's not there fault but my car was broken into while parked near there front door. They have a security guard that's sit inside the door carding everyone for ID's, I'm to 52 yrs old, but happy to get carded. To me it make more sense for him to be outside at the door, that way he could can do two jobs, ID and car jacket watcher.

The drinks were poorly made. The bartender just floated one ingredient on top of another without mixing. The drinks were overly sweet - and I love sweet drinks! I was really looking forward to coming here, but I don't think I'll come back. The ambience was beautiful and I got quick service on a Friday night, so both of those are pluses. Still, I doubt I'll be coming here again.

This is one of those places where someone spent w lot of money on a high end, highly skilled tiki bar contractor, then forgot to buy jiggers, or good ingredients. The classic drinks on the menu have zero resemblance to the classic, well known, easy to find recipes for them. They were all pretty terrible. The hip hop soundtrack doesn't help. I'm not sure why people go out and build such beautiful tiki temples then run them like this. Makes no sense.

We gave this bar 🍍🍍🍍 out of 5🍍 Cons: It doesnt have Table Service Only 1-2 shots per drink. Should be 2-4. A 3 shot traditional Tiki drink would be around 16-19 dollars. That means that to get the equivalent to a real tiki drink, you need to spend 24 dollars. No Food Options (Just Chips) The music was 70s pop funk... No escape music. They were playing a non tropical themed movie featuring the trapping of a gentleman in a pit full of angry dogs with a dumpster. Very positive. Maybe one day they can come back from Startup Mode. Great service though.
