It's always fun being with family enjoying ourselves. We decided to dine outside and the heat lamps kept us toasty. We will definitely come back when we visit the Bay Area, Oakland, CA at Jack London Square.

We went for a group event in the backroom. The food, drinks and staff were superb. The backroom bowling lanes are different than regular bowling lanes. The pins are on guide wires instead of the traditional pin system. The lanes you walk on feel a little short but it shouldn't bother anyone unless you need a standard bowling lane. We would definitely go back many times if we could. I can't say enough about the professionalism of the staff and their service. A++

Patio service is a little bit long but they remind you that it will take about 60min for our order. Food was great and tasty. Will always come back again but inside dinning.

Went for bowling and loved the overall vibe and ambiance. They allowed us 10 extra minutes to finish our game for free which we appreciated. Big drinks menu and very fun appetizers. The outdoors seating is nice too with the bay right by it. Very cool place to chill at.

Great outdoor seating with screens to view the game while we waited for the fairie to San Francisco. The smoked meat platter was a great choice.

Went to Jack London square to a place called the plank and had some very good barbecue and the beer. Atmosphere was great and we'll go back the next time I'm in Oakland.

We sat outside and the Patio and it was a really pleasant experience. The food was solid, we got the following: Pastrami Sandwich Roast Beef Sandwich Carne Asada Pizza Brusselsproouts Everyone liked their food though, we agreed the Pizza was missing a little salt. The beer menu was solid and so was the cocktail menu. it's not cheap though.

We decided to celebrate a birthday here. We all had so much fun. We started out with bowling since there was lanes avaliable. After we started bowling, they came and took our food and drink order. We played and snacked on some really good fried shrimp and fries, sliders and chicken wings. After that we moved in to the pool table upstairs. More food and drink as they kept our tab open. The group split up to play some basketball and air hockey in the arcade. You'll need to get a card and load it with money for all the arcade games. I suggest starting with at least $20 to get more game credits. I ended up leading $30, but several of us in the group was loading up to play games. We never made it to the outside activities. They have spaces for private parties which we'll need to consider next time. Our group of 12 had a great time n we ended up staying for almost 5 hrs.

I planned a large surprise party for my wife at Plank! in the private room in the back called The Boardroom. Angelica was fantastic from beginning to end, the service was top notch, people commented on how good the food was, and the place was very clean and well presented. Plan your next event at Plank! It was a very positive experience.

This was my first experience at Plank,but definitely not my last. The food was awesome. I need more practice on my bowling and the service was excellent. I will return for more practice.

I went there for a company event. I have to say we all had a great time, played, ate and had drinks. The only part I did not really explore is the arcade with the videogames. It's a pity because it seemed interesting. The waiter we got assigned took good care of us and service was pretty quick and accurate. I had some local beer and a pizza. Unfortunately the pizza is not even close to be worth what they charge for. They have a very nice oven that I'm sure can deliver excellent pizza, they just have to improve the process and realize we are in the 2020s. I really wish I could stay longer, but I had to leave relatively early to catch BART. Speaking of that, yeah it's not too far but also not too close, and parking in the area is a problem.

We had a company party here and it turned out fantastically. Our host was always around to help us and check in on service and the food was over the top amazing. We ordered way too much food. The staff had a great time. We will definitely consider this venue next year!

First time visiting Plank in Jack London Square today and it was a positive experience. The weather was beautiful, during the lunch hour (1 - 4) the crowd was moderate, the drinks were flowing and the food was rolling. Plank is located in Jack London Square, Oakland, and is easily accessible via BART. Get off at the 12 Street Station, walk South, and before you know it, you’ll run directly into the large Jack London Square sign, the pier, and Plank. Plank is a really large business that has a bowling alley, arcade area, bar, indoor and outdoor seating, and is perfect situated near the pier for great scenic views. We ordered calamari and a side order of sweet potato fries. It was a great experience, is family friendly, affordable (based on what you’re doing), and a great place for happy hour. If you’ve never gone, it’s definitely worth visiting.

This place is buzzing with energy — a perfect mix of a bowling alley, video games, and a cozy beer garden. Strings of lights overhead give it a fun, festive vibe. We ordered drinks and loaded French fries, and asked for the cheese on the side. They were thoughtful enough to also put the bacon separately. Pedro, our server, was great company — easygoing and fun to chat with. The mystery gummy bear drink was a surprise, sweet with just the right zesty kick. We had a great time, and would definitely recommend this place!

It happened to be Planks 10 year anniversary so there was a live band and they were so amazing! Enjoyed our visit here. Everything was great till last call. Food was Good, atmosphere was also good service not too bad. They closed 12pm. Wasn't too happy with last call, we order food and literally said, and I Quote "You have 10min to finish up your food and leave". We had just got our food. Next time just say No. We're okay with that. Don't charge us then want us out 10min after we had just good our food. Bowling and Music was fun.

This place is amazing! I went bowling here and lost against my friends, but I had a blast. This place also has an arcade! I played the Super Mario driving game and won against my friend! (Arcade is separate from bowling so you would need to put money in the machine, they do not give change!)

Had a corporate trip, and we were lucky enough to be able to place a reservation for 22 people. Del was our host, and she was amazing. Her customer service was above par, and her bartender skills were on point. The food was delicious. We had brisket and chicken as well as multiple sides. Great games, bowling was fun, pool table. Amazing view outside. Definitely recommend to anyone.

Located right by the marina, this place is perfect for the entire family or for date night. Garage paid parking only. This place does not validate parking. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating. Lanes are limited and can get booked ahead. Enjoy their good food and have a few beers while waiting for your lane. Lots of arcade games for all ages. Staff are friendly and helpful. I had their Margherita pizza, and it was delicious.

Stopped in here late night for a burger and dessert. The place was hopping, all bowling lanes were active, the restaurant was full, the arcade loud! Perfect...my server was awesome and constantly checked on me, the burger was incredibly flavorful, my cake moist and the ice cream...satisfying to both the eyes, and taste. I had a good time in there while going solo. So many people laughing and having fun together! Nice place to hang out, even if your just eating! Highly recommend. Can't wait to come back and hang outside! Looks like a blast out there.

A fun place to grab some food and bowl, my understanding is that it is packed on the weekends, an I wouldn't really deal with all that. Its simple bar food and bowling, but with a modern cleaned up vibe. None the less its great fun with a group, prices are high but not crazy.

Came on Sunday afternoon to happy hour and had a good time. Happy hour: Bowling is $5 per game and beers are $7, well drinks are $5 and there's many other drinks and food but didn't get more. The arcade was fun but not cheap, probably comparable to chain arcades but with worse prizes. The outdoor area is really nice and there's many TVs. They are building a beer garden or something inside which will be cool. They do not validate parking, so we paid $14 for 2-3 hours in the garage, which wasn't bad. There's a farmers market right outside on Sunday too. We would come back to bowl!

All my friends that got burgers really enjoyed them, my Mahi tacos however were very bland. The arcade was really cool though, I'd definitely give it another try.

My co-workers and I, had a very enjoyable lunch at Plank Oakland. Plank has a very beautiful and modern beer garden. I really like this outdoor space. They remodeled and added very sturdy canopies and tenting for protection from the sun and weather. I like the variety of cocktails, mules, and margaritas on the beer garden drink menu. The food is good relatively price well. There is variety of cuisines to try. This is definitely my go-to bar and restaurant on Jack London Square.

this place has possibilities. i would probably give it 5 stars, except that i was there for a work group luncheon and didnt get to experience the entertainment goodies. outdoor patio did work really well for schmoozing and the cuban chicken sandwich and tater tots were perfect. next time i have to convince the group to go bowling!

The workers didn’t know much about bowling, but I don’t blame them. It’s not an alley for anyone who’s serious about bowling. Just for casual bowlers. I had a beer. Blue Moon draft. It wasn’t super cold but it was ok. We bowled a game, lanes were super dry (if you’re a bowler and want to know). Good location, good atmosphere. It would be fun for a party or a night out.

I discovered Plank after taking the Estuary Shuttle from Alameda to Jack London Square. I did a walkthrough on my way to somewhere else but made a note to come back with friends and check it out for real. This place has great hangout vibes. Food & Drinks. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Giant screen TVs to watch sporting events, bowling, bocce, corn hole toss, and big video arcade area. They seem to have something for everyone.

The Most expensive bowling experience yet. Visited on a Saturday afternoon, The Outside bar staff was nice...although the inside short lil black waitress behind the inside bar was rude!

Got there checked in, they took our number down so we didn't have to wait inside. Very friendly staff, meets cleaning standard plexiglass separates every two lanes but only allowed to have one group for every two lanes up to 8 players. Tables are marked every other table for safety. They have staff cleaning machines at the arcade side. Would have been 5 stars but food staff took a little long to take our order and they handed me someone else's order when we got transferred to our bowling lane. Other than that fun. Velcro shoes for women and men.

My journey has brought me further out west to Oakland California To a nice spot called Plank. It's a bar, restaurant, beer garden, and Dave and Busters all wrapped up in one. A nice selection of food and drinks options are offered and prices are not too bad. I had to see if they could do one of my favorite sandwiches (A French Dip) a good showing. Enter the Plank Prime Dip. Same concept but they use Prime Rib. The first thing that caught my attention was the SOFT french bread that housed the tender Prime Rib. It wasn't like most I have had where it is toasted and the bread became hard in the process. It stayed soft and didn't get soggy in the dipping process. The au jus was not over-salted and was a perfect compliment to the Prime Rib. Now I'm not going to forget about the fries even though I treated them as a throw away side. They were pretty good. Nice, hot, well seasoned, and crispy. Overall this was a great meal. 4 stars only because I was in a party of 6 and the gentleman server we had didn't ask if we wanted to split the bill or anything he just made one big charge. Also in the gaming area they seemed to have. Shortage of staff at the ticket redemption area. I saw one person working the area and then they disappeared and I didn't see them for the rest of the duration of my time there. People were pretty much able to go in and take what they wanted. Still a nice place overall.

Came here for a work event. They have valet parking or you can park yourself as well. They don’t take reservations so it’s first come first serve. We came in the late afternoon so it wasn’t too hot. However, I’ve been here earlier in the afternoon and it can get really hot. They do have shade which helps. We played bocce and ate. I didn’t capture all of the good. We ordered nachos, fried Brussel sprouts, wings, and tuna.

Nice sports-bar and bowling place. We had lunch on the outside. Lots of people and nice atmospere. The service was quick and friendly. The menu is tacos, pizza, hamburgers/handheld and plenty of drinks. Food was good. If we come back to Oakland, I would be happy to come back to Plank.

I attended a private party in the private 6 lane portion of the alley. There is a big bar there as well. I liked the space. Our buffet food service was tacos and pizza and salad. Which was ok as I didn't starve. $20 public parking in under the building, so easy.

This is a very popular venue with bowling alleys, arcade games and pretty good pub type food. We went with kids, and they liked it. But it was VERY loud. I might like it better in the summer, when it is possible to comfortably sit outside away from the noise.

Plank at 98 Broadway in Oakland’s Jack London Square is a great spot for a fun and memorable outing. The location itself adds charm, with waterfront views and plenty of nearby restaurants and bars to round out the night. Inside, we had a blast playing video games—while the selection isn’t huge, it’s enough variety to keep you entertained. The atmosphere was lively, and we even walked away with a colorful penguin prize that made the night even more memorable. Yes, it was a little humid inside, but the energy, games, and friendly staff more than made up for it. Between the arcade fun, social spaces, and the surrounding area, Plank is perfect for a casual night out with friends or family. Highly recommended!

I loved the atmosphere at Planks. I have not been there in a while and was amazed at the food and drinks. I have the fried greens tomatoes with crab and black beans. When I say there was not a crumb left on the plate. I also had the frozen strawberry margarita. Man, usually frozen drinks are not strong but these are. Would I go back yes... Great place except the bar staff actually sucks. Like really bad. Prefer the same drink twice and they were completely different both times. Also the bartender didn't close me out for 10 min. I just sat there and asked again and again. Also the food looks pretty marginal.

Good venue for team building and social events in general. They have a main lanes and also a small area group events that includes a poll table. They provide catering and beverages (there are bars in the venue). Also, there are several arcade games in the main area.

Sat outside on the patio. There’s no signage for how seating works, service or otherwise. Walked up to the bar but the bartender lady’s were chatting felt like we were interrupting. Food was okay. Not enough fries, burgers were not terribly exciting. My bourbon sauce I would swear was A1 sauce. I also hate the new age (not their problem) way to pay. What happened to a bill not a server standing over your shoulder as you give a tip?

Overall, we had a great time.🤗 But, if you go bowling Monday-Friday after 4pm the price is $75.00 per hour and this does not include the shoe rental. And, the drinks were waaaay overpriced. So try to make happy hours.😬 Like the price of gas...everything is ridiculously hiiiiiiiigh and customers are really paying the price. Literally. 🥴🥴

You might like it, you might not. We stopped by for a beer and a bite, so opted not to brave the caverns inside and went for the beer garden instead- so this doesn't cover the interior of the joint. And, I suspect that if we'd gone there to go bowling, I'd have to adjust my review somewhat. The garden itself is rather nice. Row-style tables (just grab some available seats) which are exactly the sort of thing a beer garden should have, and plenty of overhead heaters to stave off the evening cold. Unfortunately, our server was completely overbooked. There should have been at least one more person for his section, from watching the guy run around like a madman trying to take care of everyone. Thankfully the folks next to us were jovial, as from what I gathered there had been several problems, including getting the wrong order- and to the server's credit, did everything he could to make things right. But, he saw us right away, and we didn't have to wait too long to get our drinks. I suspect we got lucky since we were on the fringe of the seating area, and the folks next to us needed a little more attention. Food-wise, She had the Barbacoa fries, and I opted for the cheese steak. The meat on the fries was pretty good, but the cheese steak was pretty...well, it shouldn't have been on the menu. In both cases, the fries were pretty generic food service fare, and not worth eating on their own. Decent beer selection tho.

Indoors, there's a lot of racket from the bowling lanes, plus the noise from the video games, plus the music on the PA. Nice outdoor area, but still there isn't a corner where you can escape the obnoxious music.

The beer was good, wings are ok, we got the habanero sauce and they were not spicy at all...disappointed. Pizza is decent but not delicious. Not very satisfied with server customer service.

Food is a bit on the expensive side and the happy hour snack selection is a bit odd. Bathrooms are rather small so expect to wait a long while for a stall while people FaceTime in them.

Plank is fun, and one of the few bowling alleys around now that Albany bowl is closed. So on the one hand, I'm just glad there's somewhere to go bowling. That said my recent experience really left a lot to be desired. The bad- We went on a Sunday night, and it was busy so we had to wait for a lane, fine. Used to waiting for everything in the Bay area. When we finally got a lane, the balls weren't registering and the pins wouldn't reset. We were with small children and the bumpers weren't up. It was like pulling teeth to get the staff to fix the lane and the bumpers. The front desk staff are incredibly rude and apathetic. It took a over 30 minutes for them to fix the lane. We ordered food and they brought us nachos instead of fries. About a third of the games in the arcade are broken. Some creepy guy was filming people. Etc. The good- bowling is still fun. The food is good. Our server was very kind and attentive.

8/10/25 Came here to bowl and drink. Got our drinks outside , we came in got situated with bowling, we waited about 10 mins for a server , no one came. My boyfriend went to go look for a server, she said someone would be over soon. No one ever came. We asked for help 3 different times no help. Our game ended and of course I asked to speak with a manager .. I explained what happened to the person at the checkout station.The guy’s Answer was, we are short staffed. I just walked away. Horrible and annoying experience 🙄

They charge $65/hour if you want to bowl... The pizzas are tiny for $20+ each. Service was decent but not great.

My daughters are I used to hit up the arcade often, sometimes staying for lunch. The food is a mixed bag, decent wings and other bar food like tater tots, but the BBQ is mediocre. The games were already expensive compared to other arcades, and they recently raised the prices of the games so much that we blew through $50 in about 20 minutes. We won’t be coming back.

We had a reservation here for my birthday. Immediately after we sat down and got our drinks they made us pick up all of our stuff from the tables/lane they originally gave us and move all the way to the very end lane, and did not have any staff help move our drinks and menus. The lane they moved us to was defective. When pointed out they stated that they already knew the lane was not working. They continued to have us stay on the defective lane which stopped functioning numerous times and we had to keep reporting the issue. No solutions was provided until finally we got fed up and asked to be switched to a different lane. During the game they prematurely ended our game and gave us a free hour gift card for the “next time” we come. The gift card was nice however today is my birthday and we would not be returning anytime soon. We asked the to please turn our game back on as we were not finished, so they did. This new lane started having issues shortly after as well. It would not send our bowling balls back to us and we had to again report the issue to the workers. Overall, way too many technical issues and inadequate solutions provided to make up for issues. We had to provide various solutions for them in order to be properly accommodated.

They do not validate parking for the garage that shares the same building. The food is mediocre and they had almost no local beers from Oakland. Next time we’ll visit somewhere with more atmosphere.

I stopped in because I had an appointment across the street and I had a little over an hour to spare. I sat at the end of the bar, and within minutes the bartender approached and I ordered a drink (titos an cran) and sliders, cost me $27 and some change. Within five minutes I got my drink, simple, well made, no straw. 45 minutes later, still waiting on my sliders. It is now time for me to leave or I will be late for my appointments. I have asked two servers about my food and have yet to get a response.... finally received my food and it was complete trash. The sliders were just thrown in the box, tasted like straight vinegar and the buns were mush. So greatly disappointed. I would not recommend this place for food and drinks.

They charged my sister and my card independently 5 months after we went there. No notification or heads up that was happening. Of course we thought it was fraudulent and had to get new credit cards. Bad business practices!

I’m only posting because I was sent an email. Considering the cost, the customer service is really lackluster. It started when I called (there was no response to the emails) and welcomed me in when I entered Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, it seemed like senior and more seasoned employees were the rudest. My bill included a service fee, an insurance fee, and then a credit card fee. For two pizzas, soda and an opportunity to bowl? I had to clean up and stack the dishes. I had to wait to go order drinks at the bar. I had to pick up and return all of the shoes. Oh, and we were kicked out of the section without warning. I think what’s particularly shortsighted is there were a lot of parents in attendance. I guess they figured the gratuity was built in so there was no need to work for it. When it was all said and done…we agreed not to come back. For the love of free advertising, right?

Fun place if you order from the bar inside. There are games and bowling. A nice outdoor bar area by the water. Sounds amazing, but service when you sit outside is horrendous. Servers often stand around chit chatting to each other while you try to flag them down to order another drink or food. Every time I come here on a nice day it is the same story. When I talk to people about Plank everyone just talks about how bad the service is here. What a waste.

We had a party of 3. The service was horrible. The lady had an attitude and was not the least bit pleasant or helpful. The food arrived already cold and the ribs had no meat on them. Given different circumstances, it might have been a decent experience but sadly it was not. They also charge a credit card processing fee on top of the bill so be aware of that also. It was also too warm and there were no fans in our section.

I just want to say that I went here the other day and had a terrible experience. The area is super cool and seems like it would be a fun place to hang with friends and family. But I do have to say that the bartenders both seemed very off. The service was very stressful and rude. The bartender was disappointed in the drink order I made. He shook his head when I ordered two bloody Mary’s. He made me want to leave but we wanted to stay and give it a shot. Other than that the inside looks super cool with bowling and arcade games. But I can’t speak well for the bar side. It smelled pretty gross at the bar as well. And not to mention but the glass I received had a crack all the way down the side.

I was only there for a bit. There are a million tv. No one there. No one. Knew how to describe to the customer if they could get more NFL games than what is on cbs and fox. Answer. No.

As a supporter of women's professional sports I made a special trip to Jack London Square to watch the NWSL semi-final game Orlando Pride vs. NY Gotham at the Plank. We choose the plank because of the outside seating. When we arrived we requested a TV which the football game had just ended to show the match and were promised they'd get it up shortly. We ordered our drinks and waited patiently. They choose to ignore the request and add a game that was already being played on all the other TVs. The staff member finally came to say they weren't going to play the match on their TV after they moved me around the patio. What a waste of time and money. I'll never support the Plank again. Hopefully Oakland will follow through with opening a Dave and Busters. Absolutely NO Vegan food options either. 👎👎

New Years Day pricing not clear on the website. Showed up, paid for parking in the garage, then found out the only way for two of us to bowl was &75/hr. It's 2025, update the website to be clear on holiday pricing. We drove to Alameda and had a blast at Lucky Strike.

I would have gave this place some great stars, but their service is absolutely horrible. 41, walking in my seventeen year old son was patted down for weapons, and that was kind of crazy to me, knowing that he's only seventeen.He's with his mom and his girlfriend. Even one of the security guards had to say you can clearly see.He has absolutely nothing on him. Upon entering the restaurant and sitting down, no one came to our table.We had to wait a good fifteen minutes for a waiter to even bring us a menu in which I had to get up. And go ask for one. We sat and we sat, and we sat the waiters were very rude.They did not attend to us very well and I thought that this was just maybe a one off type of situation. I go back with my husband we sit at the bar for twenty minutes before even being hamded menus. We immediately got up and left. I had one more time with this space.Because of a friend.And once again, sat there for a very long time.Waiting to be served, had to get up.Get an actual waiter to take our order. Not only that, they need to learn how to ask to put a card on file.Telling someone to give you a card to make sure that the tab gets paid is ridiculous. I have never felt so out of place in oakland ever.It almost felt as if they did not want to serve me each time that I went. The crazy thing is, after being served horribly, I still gave a tip and still was courteous to the staff in which they never reciprocated at all. I tried sharing my thoughts with the restaurant, but they have refused contact me back.

Went to plank yesterday to look at the game and have a couple of drinks I was feeling bubbly and wanted to get a margarita to celebrate my birthday, I went up to the bar to order my drink, I stood there waiting I made eye contact I said hi I would like to order a drink then a white man came behind me they took his order and ignored me I'm still standing there and everyone around me is getting served I am the only African American person at the bar everyone else was getting served and it was quite obvious so myself and my fiance both left and spent our dollar somewhere else. I would not recommend plank it used to be fun but the bartenders were angry and brought my birthday celebration there to a halt I'm lightweight pissed.

We had to eat here bc was only place really open before 5pm at Jack London and we were hungry so tried them out. Our server was horrible. I didn't get her name but older Hispanic lady. Right from the beginning seemed like she had an attitude and didn't want to serve us. Our friend tried to ask about local IPAs to try since she was visiting Oakland for the first time and she just stared at her and didn't really answer or try to be helpful. She also didn't come back to provide refills or check on us. She just said I'm closing out ticket bc she was leaving. Just horrible service and on top of that the food was just ok. The beef ribs I will say were great but wasn't really much meat on them just mostly bone so that was disappointing as well. McDonald's would have been a better choice bc we spent way too much for horrible service and average food. We did speak with the manager and she was nice and gave us a free desert which honestly wasn't good either but that's not the managers fault. I wouldn't recommend going here if you do the beef ribs are great just hopefully you actually have meat on yours.
