Orient by the Sea offers a beautiful waterfront setting with a Greek vibe, though the ordering system (order and pay upfront) is controversial given the high prices. The Lobster Cobb Salad is a standout, but consistency can vary. Service can be hit or miss.

Tip: Be aware that you order and pay at the counter before your food is served. Consider sharing plates family-style due to the large portions.

I was transported elsewhere - beautiful set up. Nice crowd - fun atmosphere (DJ - European vibes). Very fresh ingredients (lobster roll is unbelievable). Service was efficient and discreet. Great discovery.
Absolutely amazing place to eat delicious food with your friends while looking at the sunset over the ocean. Glamorous, fun and elegant, that is how we all found Duryea's Orient point ! We will be back soon !
Every time I go to Duryea’s in Orient I feel like I’m a world away. It’s gorgeous, delicious, fun and the perfect place for an afternoon with friends. I like to go for a late lunch which is typically a little quieter and could sit there for hours.
This place deserves a better rating than it has. First off, the location is beautiful and very unique. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating. Finally, the food is very solid. The whole branzino was delicious and the lobster cobb is always great.
If you’re in you’re in. Not necessarily a local spot. You’ll need to enjoy DJ vibes and large portions over rosè. The lobster Cobb salad feeds enough for 4, and the French fries are extra crispy. You may spot a celeb or a few bankers.
Great music. It’s scene-y, yes. A global pandemic has forced oddities like ordering at a window, yes. But food was great, music made us feel like we were back on a beach in Greece, and that was great. Is this for everyone? No. But know what you’re walking into and you’ll enjoy.
Great atmosphere, okay food. Not much on the menu asides seafood and over priced entrees. More of a hype spot. The beach club area is really nice and loungey
We come here Via our boat from shelter island. Wonderful place to have lunch and enjoy the scenery. Portions are big and quality is good. Staff is professional. I come every year.
Location, food great , hummus app was amazing , the nice and fresh
There are many places to go by boat for lunch or dinner in the East End, but Duryea’s Orient Point is by far my favorite. Staff is professional and welcoming and the food is simply to die for. Make sure to share because many of the main courses are huge.
I have been a fan for years so this second location is a true win for me. Whether you arrive by car, motorcycle or boat, this marina is amazing with its restaurant on the water and its beach. The food is delicious as always, and the staff efficient and helpful (while quite busy!) . Duryea’s has done it again by bringing their concept with a new feel. Where Montauk brings you a vibe of St Tropez, this one brings you the vibe of Mykonos Greece in terms of decor. The beach is magnificent with its more casual vibe, and the boats coming in and out are quite entertaining. Contrarily to Montauk, you can reserve in advance here so it’s a good day trip to make if you’re in a the Hamptons like us!
Great ambiance. Beautiful setting. Great vibe. Service perfect. Had Lobster Cobb along with a nice Chardonnay. Then went out to Beach club for another nice White Burgundy...great afternoon. I give high recommendations.
I don't understand the low rating. The fact that you pay beforehand makes the experience great. You check boxes on a menu and the food comes out extremely quickly. I do not see the problem with that and just because it isn't customary does not make it bad. The only issue is that if you want to change an order you need to get up and tell the staff, which is annoying, but not a big deal at all. The atmosphere is amazing as the restaurant is beautiful and it is on the water. The food is also phenomenal. Obviously very expensive, but you need to know what you are getting into. You don't go to a nice restaurant on the water expecting to spend 20 dollars. The fact that the food is expensive should not bring its rating down considering how good the food is. Does it burn pockets? Absolutely. But that's the cost of going to a very nice restaurant.
When the North Fork meets Mykonos! Includes: spectacular views, festive yet relaxed atmosphere and excellent Mediterranean-inspired food. At first we had a few delightful lunches which continued with lounging by the sea. We then went back multiple times for al fresco date nights and sunsets. So many options! So many extraordinary memories! We’re counting the days until our next visits!
While I was familiar with the one in Montauk, I was quite excited to try the sister restaurant in Orient Point!! Similar but different. Duryea's Orient Point offers a quintessential Long Island dining experience with its stunning location, delicious food, and excellent service. It is a fantastic choice, and the experience is well worth any wait if you have to. The menu focuses heavily on FRESH, locally sourced seafood. The lobster roll, one of their signature dishes, was generously filled with succulent lobster meat and served on a perfectly toasted bun. The accompanying fries were crispy and well-seasoned. The lobster cobb salad is a classic there (with a bottle of Domaines Ott* Rose!). The grilled branzino was one of the best I had in a long time! I highly recommend it. It's a gem that captures the essence of coastal dining!
This restaurant is absolutely fantastic in everyway. The staff and service is incredible as is the fantastic food. It’s not only delicious it is all served looking very special and each dish is so amazing it’s hard to decide which one to have. Everytime I eat there I cannot wait to return for another perfect lunch or dinner. It’s a reason to head out to Orient point just to dine here.
Great service, food was outstanding, grilled lamp chops are the way to go and the salads are very good. The ordering system, a little odd, they give you a paper checklist and then you go up to pay. Otherwise a great experience. Hope to be back next summer.
People complaining about the concept of ordering at a till need to chill dude. It’s no biggie, relax. Staff were super friendly. Setting and food was absolutely stunning. Loved it. I felt it was really value for money for that part of the world too. One could enjoy a whole day there getting pleasantly drunk.
Even though "mother nature" wasn't cooperative, the food was perfect. Our service was timely. An exceptional crew. The kitchen was fast. The bartender was polished. Even the DJ from France was good.
Duryea's Orient Point always delights with the Mykonos-inspired food, stellar service, and super cool location on the tip of the North fork. Lobster rolls or ginormous salad, fresh Greek melon salads, and all the fish! The Beach club is super cool also!
Duryea’s is what it is — a lovely restaurant with great food that is very precious. This is a great place to pretend that you are at a Mediterranean beach club with bottle service. If you are looking for clam strips and fries, please avoid. They don’t want you and you won’t be happy.
Beautiful location and amenities. With the weather just right, it feels like you are abroad in some a sun swept Mediterranean location. Come by boat, by car, and sea plane (if thats your thing) : ) Bring your appetite and your friends for the food is served family style. The chicken and steak were delicious as was the lobster. Though there is no full bar, you will not be lacking. Don't worry if you are in need of a greater assortment of libations. There are great bars nearby. Start at Claudios on the water and work your way about. Enjoy!
The atmosphere is excellent. The place looks fantastic, and the food was terrific. It was my first time here since Duryea’s took over. I was not aware of how the restaurant was. No one explained that we had to place our order and pay for it before they brought out the food to us. After half an hour, I asked someone, and they looked at me weirdly, but explained to me that we needed to check the mark what we wanted and then go to the cashier to pay for the food. I left a great tip, thinking we would get service. No one brings your food out; we NEVER saw a waiter come to us. I was highly disappointed with that. Because I saw the waiter going to other tables but never to us to ask us how everything was. I want to return because the food was terrific, but tipping someone who will never come to the table is rude and unacceptable. They should let the customers know how the restaurant works as well.
Truly a delightful dining experience overlooking a marina. The service was 'spot on', quick, attentive and very helpful. The wonderfully prepared, very fresh and perfectly cooked food was some of the best I've had. The local oysters are so very tasty. Fresh crusty bread, and the side dishes, including jasmine rice, slightly hot spiced was delicious, as we're the locally sourced roasted and delicately spiced veggies. The traditional old school lobster roll was also nicely made without the butter overwhelming the lobster taste and soaking the roll. Add a local brew, a basket of fries that puts other places to shame, and the sea air to make this a place that we will return.
We were soooo impressed by this meal. First off, we were under a time crunch because I had to catch the local ferry but the team made it certain that we would have our meal in time for it. The lamb was INSANE. Hands down some of the best my father and I have ever had. We were super impressed. We loved the atmosphere, it was chill and relaxed. We definitely would come back again.
Duryea’s Orient Point boasts a chic yacht-club vibe, making it a perfect seaside dining destination. Standout dishes include the Lobster Cobb Salad, Lemon Pepper Chicken, and Skirt Steak with Blue Cheese Sauce. The impressive wine list complements the delicious food, enhancing the upscale experience. With stunning water views and a relaxed, nautical ambiance, it’s an ideal spot for a memorable summer outing. Don’t miss out on this gem—definitely worth a visit!
An amazing, yet pricey place. Family style service. You order and tip ahead and then sit back down and wait. Most inexpensive meals are $30 bucks: burger, falafel, lobster roll ($40). Most others are 80-120 bucks for 2-3 serve portions. No beer or cocktails (unless you order a $100 pitcher of margaritas) just wine by glass and bottle service. The beachy setting is amazing. Beautiful location. Right next to the Ferry Service and a Marina at the point, ten minutes from Greenport. It is similar to the Montauk location by menu but has it's own style. Beach Club on the water open on the weekends! Tell 'em Barsnobs sent ya
I loved everything. The setting is unique, so hard to find, right on the water such a nice place, upscale . Probably you pay 30% more for the view and decor that is to die for, and the bar on the sand by the water is WOW. You want a place on the water, great service and not so cheap tasty food, this place is for you. I have a very sensitive stomach, any preservative I don't tolerate, this was fresh and tasty food. I will definitely go back. If I want cheap food I eat at home. I had a chicken leg with baked potatoes ($3) at some other restaurant for $22, that was a rip off. You want affordable go to a fast food.
At first glance prices look steep - think you get the best bang for your buck when you go with 4 or more people. Ordering was initially a challenge bc balancing how much to order with the wide array of choices was mind boggling. Yes, we wound up overordering the first time but the leftovers were as delicious the next day as they were the night before. Service & wine/cocktails were pretty good too. Of course, the view is the icing on this cake. Wish Duryea's stayed open through September but since not, I'll hope to see them in 2022.
I didn't eat here, just used their fuel dock. It was convenient and easy. It did not accept my debit card, but worked for credit.
The Hot Butter Lobster roll as well as the Falafel were both W eats, however I would not recommend boating in the harbor after consuming that much butter.
This is a hard one for me. My wife and I split the Domato salad and halal wrap, and it was absolutely delicious and the perfect amount of food for us. I did not like the style of service for the price, however. You aren’t really waited on, there is staff ready to show you how to order, and you pay for everything at the window ahead of time. I’m not mad at it, but it’s too pricey of a place for it. I was tempted to tip less because we weren’t waited on, but I felt way too awkward at a nice place like that to do so. I hate that they have a full bar in the middle of the restaurant but cannot make individual cocktails. That’s insane. They were also out of a lot of the menu drinks when we were there. I was going to give 3 stars, but my meal and the atmosphere pushed it to 4.
The food was great but the service is taking its pride in being NYC mean. The hostess could not be more rude, the waiter was cordially helpful. You place your order and pay at the bar, the food is brought to your table.
I dined at Duryea's Montauk last week and had the Lobster Cobb salad-absolutely delicious with a nice hint of tarragon. This weekend I invited a friend to dine at their Orient Point location and raved about the same salad. It was disappointing because the dressing was very different-garlic heavy! Same dish, same restaurant different location and very different recipe. The staff and service at both locations are lovely and very professional.
During our girls trip we went there for a drink. Unfortunately beach club was closed, but we were still able to walk around. It’s soo beautiful! Such a Greek vibe! I can imagine myself there during hot summer days. We shared a bottle of wine. The price was okay. But food prices were a little bit too high, we knew from the beginning that we will just go there for a drink.
Very nice staff, service. Too pricey for Orient Point. There's no boardwalk, town to walk around in after lunch, etc to make it an event/afternoon to justify paying those prices. Food was OK, but we noticed several couples get up and leave after they reviewed the menu (prices we assume). Orient (Point) is definitely not East Hampton, Amaganset, etc
Food was good. Nice atmosphere with great views. Very pricey for what it is though.
Good food and great atmosphere, but it is expensive for what it is and you have to order at a window! And pay upfront! Want a coke refill, go to the window and pay! Desert? Window again! It just ruined the experience for me, and doesn’t match my expectations when paying the premium price.
Remember those nights in Mykonos where you realize you are about to overpay extravagantly for a dinner which you will strive to taste over the boom-psh boom-psh beat of electrodisco while rubbing elbows with a crowd so overtly overprivileged in pink dresses and filled lips and shaved heads and expensive eyewear and nearby parked million dollar yachts, that you doubt whether you will ever touch or talk to anyone authentic ever again? And that maybe you will get around to starting that Communist revolution? Well, strap in, because Duryea’s, in the unlikely locus of the fishing villages and farms of Long Island’s North Fork, will take you there. Also for the privilege of eating a $600 dinner you will get to stand in line and hand in a form to order your meal. Forgot your kid’s lemonade? Back of the line! Oops, that option has (unlisted) allergens? Back of the line! Second glass of wine? You get the idea. The food, by the way, is delicious. But you really have to be in the mood.
The restaurant had a nice view and the food was alright but I don’t like way you order with a clipboard and walk up to a window. The prices were very high and the music was kind of annoying and was everywhere (under the docks, bathrooms, etc.)
BE PREPARED TO PAY $6 FOR UNLIMITED TAP WATER!! After the waiter filled up our glasses and put the bottle on the table, we noticed the fine print on the menu. Staff was attentive and courteous. We ordered the Lobster Cobb Salad ($88) for four, it was huge! But the flavor was off on the dressing, it was too much. The falafel crab was ok and the french fries (you have to order a bucket?) were divine!
It's expensive and the quality or quantity doesn't match the price. Now that that's out of the way, it's a really nice place and we had a good time. The way you order is very odd, you fill out a paper menu and bring it to the register and pay. The order is brought out to you (or not). I had to ask twice for the rest of my order as we sat and waiting with nothing to do or eat after we finished the first dish. Lastly they have a tip bowl next to the register with a sign that says please tip. So you are asked to tip before you get service and it's very little service anyway. It's a south fork vibe that feels out of place on the north fork.
Food was good but ordering service was odd. Huge turn off that you can’t buy individual drinks. Only glasses of wine. If you want a mixed cocktail they only do pitchers and they are 95 dollars. Also didn’t like you had to pay upfront and fill in what you want by checking a piece of paper. Don’t think I’ll be back
Fancy establishments normally leave me wanting more. As in the price to satisfaction normally leaves, you spending a lot and not being highly satisfied. The food selection is super limited. Then it is a family style if you're into that great. But if you have picky eaters, this doesn't work as the meals are then too big for one person obviously. The food quality wasn't as fancy as the place leads you to believe. The tuna wasnt great. The burger wasn't great. The lobster also wasn't great. The french fries on the other hand were pretty good. The location is absolutely amazing and the atmosphere is top notch. Have a boat? Come on over dock up and enjoy. Drinks are just like the food menu. Very limited and normally have to order big. They don't sell individual drinks but by the pitcher. The beach part of it is nice with a great view. But nothing else to do in the area. So just plan to stop on in if there is room for a couple hours and keep moving to the next destination.
Inconsiderate! This has now happened TWICE (once to myself and now to a friend)... the food is good, but they do NOT stick to their posted hours!!!!! There is no way to call OR make a reservation yet they decide it is okay to close AN HOUR AND A HALF EARLY!? Completely unfair to their customer base; the more I think about it seems that their entire business model is centered around their own convenience. No table service - order at the counter and if you need anything else you have to go up and ask. For the price I expected better service.
There is a plus, being able to come by boat. The place has a Greek style atmosphere. It's pretty. Servers are very attentive. No one takes your order at the table. You fill out a sheet at your table, take it to the counter, and pay for table service. Odd. They were out of the Peconic oysters. Every person pays $2 for water. Some of the items are family style? $97 lobster cobb salad. It fed 3 of us with other items. Huge pieces of lettuce made a bit difficult to plate. Good portion of lobster. Mediterranean starter was good. Not enough pita to share with the table. When asking to have a few more pieces, we were informed we'd have to go place another order. No one wants to interrupt their meal with clients to make another order. So that plate didn't get finished. Chips that come with the lobster roll were overcooked. It was enjoyable, but for the money, it's just not there for me.
Went to lunch with friends. We had no idea we had to pay for our food BEFORE consumption. Decided we were not leaving a tip before getting service. So glad we made that decision. Service was slow and annoying. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was wonderful.
The food was pretty tasty and definitely nice. The restaurant itself is beautiful. However, I found a hair in my burger and my friend bit into something hard in hers. The staff are friendly but you have to go to the front and order up there and pay once you choose your food, like a fast food restaurant, even though it’s very expensive food. I’m disappointed.
***updated 7/29/2024*** Went to the beach club...beach club place is super nice. Better for family as it's generally quieter. Service left something to be desired. You fill out a menu and bubble sheet it in...kind of like the SAT test...and the wait staff comes and grabs it from you. The seats are cool. Prices are high. The new owners are catering to a different crowd...namely higher end boujie influencer type people. Overall would only go back once every 3 years...not a place where a steady repeat crowd will show up although that may not be what they want there. They also took out the center docks to.make.room.for bigger boats. $84 for a grilled lobster pasta? Really? Is Jeff bezos coming in? Miss the old orient where it was more family friendly, more parking for the boats, and we didn't need to take a cash advance on the credit card to afford the place. Maybe the new owners are catering to a new crowd...understandable...however if the average person can't afford it then good luck.
Extremely expensive for the quality of food. The lobster roll wasn’t bad, but definitely nothing special and not worth the price. It is served with room temp sweet potato chips. Octopus was great, but the serving size could have been doubled. It’s very clear you are paying for the atmosphere. The manner of ordering is awkward. They could not make us individual cocktails. I would give it another shot next time I’m this far out East. I would definitely order shareable plates next time. Those looked good at the tables around us.
Beautifully plated food presentation, fresh and delicious. Pricey but worth it. Beachy decor, open air dining overlooking the water. In as upscale restaurant as such I was appalled at their ordering style - fill out your own order, take it to a counter, pay and tip before food is presented, go back to the counter pay again for any additional food (extra pita) or drinks. Wait staff was pleasant and prompt.
Beautiful view, that's what you are paying for. Our server was very nice and made some recommendations. You place your order at a window booth, not at your table and provide payment with tip prior to service. They have no change, so bring smaller denominations for the jar. The humus platter with olives was tasty but I found the Spanish Octopus too salty and unfortunately I had to follow this dish with two antacids so overall not a positive experience.
The most over priced 38$ stale lobster roll, 24$ cheeseburger that tasted like I cooked a frozen Bubba burger on the grill, and 19$ chicken tenders. It's a boujee restaurant where the water cost 6$ and they only cater to the rich yuppies that come off their yachts and don't care about food quality. Don't get me wrong it's a great Instagram photo but if you want quality cooking, don't go there.
Beautiful setting! Food is delicious, but the prices are astronomical. It’s strange that a few tomatoes, two potatoes, and a cauliflower roasted whole could cost $49.00.
What a clown show. They estimated 45 - 1 hour for a table at lunch so we opted for takeout. Well, we waited an hour just for our takeout! How about a heads up that the takeout takes as long as a table?! Zero apologies from the staff and they gave us two sets of plastic silverware for five people. Also two seltzers and a sprite while we waited for the food was $19. We had a sad “picnic” in the parking lot. Admittedly the food was tasty. It had better be for the prices.
I wasn’t happy that I couldn’t order a cocktail unless is was a pitcher for $85-$90! I ordered an overpriced glass of wine. My lobster roll was very good but small for $44. Didn’t like not having waiter service for the price of this place. Why do we have to place our order on a line? The vibe is very nice but they need to make some changes if they want to stay in business.
I would skip the restaurant and go for drinks and light apps at the beach club portion. They charge you for water, the bathrooms were all dirty and broken. The staff was comically rude. Not the waiters but the host and women who rings up your food like you’re at Panera bread.
We went here for a special occasion and brought our small dog, as we had reserved an outdoor table. When we arrived, we were told we could not be seated with our dog even though we were in an outdoor area. Instead, the manager seated us at a counter adjacent to the parking lot. We were disappointed, but in fairness, we later realized that they have a strict policy against dogs, but this was not made clear. But the manager was not very helpful and seemed to not to want to find a solution. In fact, he was a bit snippy. We then asked if we could be seated in the outdoor waiting area near the parking lot so that at least we could speak to one another, which was impossible where we had been seated previously at the "lunch counter." The restaurant agreed and we had a perfectly nice meal. Good food and adequate service. For almost $100 per person, we did not think the value was there. However, there are a few things to know if you wish to dine here. 1. THEY CHARGE FOR TAP WATER 2. You cannot order a cocktail, only pitchers of drinks designed for groups. In fact, the restaurant appears to be designed for large groups. 3. You have to write down your order and take it to the cashier and pay BEFORE getting served. As there is no traditional table service. 4. They have an attitude. 5. If you order the lobster pasta, be prepared to crack and pick out the meat yourself
So we arrived a bit earlier than expected for our reservation and the young lady sat us at our table without a word, I did notice a clip board on the table that she left but didn’t know what it was for. After waiting 30 min for someone to service us I got up and walked to the desk and inquired why haven’t anyone come back to the table the girl let me know that we are suppose to fill out what we want an then bring it to her and pay and then wait…. Let me remind you had we knew that 30 mins ago we would have done just that. They lady brought out drinks, which tasted like water down lemonade, which then I complained to the manager… however the food was good… my only issue is SERVICE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS NOT GOOD. The scenery was nice but the service sucked hope if they come back next year they will do better..,
2 stars solely for the waiter Uriell who was a delightful Frenchman. The cute but standoffish hostess explained you order off a plastic coated menu by circling a paper menu which was attached to a clip board. I would accept this at a facility that charged accordingly however the restaurant is extremely pricey. Getting past that strange encounter you now must put your mask back on and PAY IN ADVANCE for your meal with a cashier at a cashier stand. What was perplexing even further when we asked to order our wine and wanted to relax with our 1st course we were told no, we had to order everything together. The bottle of white wine came out room temperature. They poured all of us a glass, needless to say they took it back and returned with a cold bottle, bread, appetizers and the entrees all at once. We started with a shrimp dish for (2) which we were required to remove the shell and the black veins. Maybe because we arrived late in the evening and the kitchen help wanted to go home I do not know. I did ask about the tipping procedure and Uriell said the front of the house staff, waiters, hostesses, busboys all pool their tips, but not the chefs. At the end of the meal we left a $50 tip on the table thinking how if we were not with great friends what a disappointment the meal was. Very costly and certainly not worth it. Nice facility however there was a huge disconnect with the ordering system. We order 2 lobster entrees for (2 people) $84 & $74 for the other and they did not give us the small metal forks to poke out the meat. Only upon request did we get a disposable wood utensil which was a sad disapointment at the price point of the dinners. I always give kudos when restaurants food is good however I can't in good conscious compliment anyone but the waiter. I would pass this up for one of the many other delightful locations in the area.
Ryan, the manager of the beach, is one of the most disrespectful managers I’ve ever met. He refused to give more than 4 of the 6 people in our parties chairs. I accepted this at the start, but when I saw him giving chairs to other people he was incredibly rude and stubborn. Here is a picture of all the available seats, instead he put my entire family on these miniature bean bags. Won’t be coming back, and I’d suggest you steer clear of the beach. This place has gone downhill.
Some of the worst, yet most expensive food I have ever been served. Considering the lobster roll is $50 I would expect it to at least be served warm for a hot lobster roll. All of our dishes were beyond disappointing.
There were four of us dining... After having our first order(s) (two) of Rock salt baked shrimp taken back because they couldn't even be peeled they were SO overcooked(!), the manager brought us a replacement dish. A little easier to peel, but nonetheless chewy. For $29 per dish for shrimp they could have at least removed the heads and cleaned the shrimp. The Domata salads were nothing more than tomato halves of varying degrees of ripeness, with cores. For $33 per dish, this was a joke, a bad one on us that is. The dressing was tasty, however, LOL. Our thoughts were unanimous on the way out. Bottom line, avoid these dishes - the burgers on a nearby table looked like the way to go!!
" do you want to call the police, babe? " that's how the manager spoke to me when I explained my dog is a service dog.
We made the 30+ minute drive two nights in a row to come get a drink and enjoy the view. Last summer my boyfriend had a fantastic experience on his own there and we’ve been wanting to go together since. We were turned away before the published closing time both nights. First night was for the impending storm which we understood. Last night we showed up an hour before closing, again just for a glass of wine (though who knows maybe we would’ve ordered food to try, too). And were met yet again with “sorry but we closed early” even though there were other tables finishing up. Just fair warning - if you want to go there you better call to see what time they plan to close each day. We ended up going into Greenport and had a lovely experience at another restaurant but had wished to give our business to Duryea.
In mourning for Orient by the Sea, the lovely low key restaurant that was here before Duryeas's took over, where you could get a burger, or a steak, fish and chips and a cocktail and glass of wine with a lovely view. It was a great place to eat before getting the Cross Sound Ferry to New London. The view is still lovely but the fancy new place is a huge disappointment. I went alone after a walk around the Point as I have many times in the past, and although they were happy to seat me the menu seems geared to groups of at least 6. NO small portions. I ordered an appetizer size Falafel and the Watermelon salad which was HUGE. And barely edible. Swamped with Dill and the melon looked old and tired - that gelatinous look tells you it has not been freshly prepared. The Falafel was so salty it had no other flavor. I tried 2 bites; the 2nd to make sure I was correct. There were several piles of Mediterranean style dips to go with the Pita; what appeared to be a yoghurt, another of chopped tomatoes, but both so laden with Dill - again with the Dill - that it all became a bit overwhelming. There was something green that had no flavor. My bill - paid in advance - was almost $100 with the tip and including a fairly ordinary glass of Rose wine for $15. Water was $4! Yes, no free water. After I had given up on the food I called my waitress over to let her know I didn't need take home containers and she sent the manager to speak to me. I had eaten almost nothing but I did drink the wine. She gave me $26 back on my credit card. So a glass of wine and a nice view cost me $70. I won't be going there again and I imagine not many locals will either. They will have to rely on the boats moored in the Marina who have no choice. Advice to boaters - Greenport has many great restaurants! Dock there first if you are hungry!
Never ever again. We have a second home in Peconic for the past 15 years. This is our first and last time here. Filling out paper menus, paying first is like Sizzlers- we got the tuna tartar and asked for bread or crackers when it arrived only to be told sorry you have to pay for that separately. They ran out of the lobster we ordered and decided to tell us after an hour wait. This place is all about ambience not about service. For the money you spend here YOU DEFINITELY DO NOT GET WHAT YOH PAID FOR!
Well I don’t where to start , we came of a boat for lunch to have a nice relaxing lunch with friends it was 8 of us . To give ur order u have to go the front to give order pay for it and then u sit down and wait for ur order. What I don’t understand don’t ppl come to restaurants to get spoiled and served and then to top it of u want to add something I have to get up again and pay again even if it’s for one order, oh and they charge u for tap water water too. This will be my first and last time .
You’ll see a few reviews here from our group because none of us have experienced this type of unprofessionalism. No wonder they make you pay before receiving your food because their management takes no responsibility when there’s a clear lack of communication in their team and then proceeds to disrespect their paying customers by taking full meals off their table. #chickensnatchers #chickengate
Eating at Duryea’s was a major disappointment. The falafel we ordered had less flavor than a charcoal briquette and the lobster roll had more bread than lobster. The service was horrendous with servers that visibly ignore you and take plates off the table without asking. This place clearly panders to wealthy elites who care nothing for quality. A true disappointment amidst the charm of the north fork.
I couldn't agree more with the previous 1 star reviews. I find it extremely hard to understand the whole process of taking your own order, pre paying and tipping before hand. The food was average/good and the Jumbo Shrimp were anything but Jumbo. Also I'm not sure why there is a staff of six that just stood around the bar? Maybe one of them could have taken my order and earned the 20% tip I left. I wanted a second glass of wine but didn't want to get up during my meal to stand in line and pre pay for it.
Terrible experience. Their menu is expensive and difficult. Almost no single meals, everything is shared. Everything is filled out by a clipboard and you have to bring it up to the cashier yourself. After you received your meal, no one approached to ask how it was or if anything was needed. Had an issue with my order and asked politely if an item could be removed due to my confusion over their menu. They did remove the item but judged the amount that I tipped. When I left my boyfriend heard the waitstaff complaining about us. Will never come back here. Miss the old restaurant/bar.
You write own order on a clipboard, take it yourself to the cashier, pay and wait for your order to come to the table. There is only sparkling or flat water with a $4 table charge. The prices were way out of line for the service, and the $32 lobster roll was not very good, and the sweet potato chips served with it were soggy. I will not go back and definitely don't recommend it.
This place is an over priced self-service restaurant. You order at a counter, pay your bill, and tip 20% for service (but there don’t have waiters, just cleaners/food runners). The kitchen adds mounds lettuce to the platters to make the food appear generous. The French fries were good. This was our experience: We were a party of 2. One of us had to get up to order and pay each time we wanted something. It was like a snack bar with expensive prices and service fees. They even charge for tap water. Never going back
I must admit that the restaurant's ambience was pleasant and well-designed. The decor exuded a trendy and upscale vibe, which added to the overall charm of the place- one of the most glaring issues was the restaurant's bizarre policy of making customers pay before their food even arrived at the table. I found this practice to be completely unacceptable and unheard of in any reputable establishment. It not only created an atmosphere of distrust but also gave the impression that the restaurant was more concerned with securing payments than delivering a quality dining experience.
I wish I could leave zero stars, because this resturant deserves none. We came in as a group of 8, excited to try the food after receiving multiple recommendations of friends and family to come here. We ordered and the food did not all come together. Plates of foods came in every other 10 minutes. Finally everyone’s food came in and my friend was still waiting for her food. At this point, everyone else at the table had already FINISHED their plate. She asked where her Falafel Gyro plate was only for them to tell her they did not have it anymore. From the very start, when we ordered, they failed to let us know about this leading my friend to order another dish. Her plate of chicken came and you would think because of the inconvenience it would be complementary, but was not. No apologies, nothing. My friend goes up to the manager to complain and receive an explanation. The manager was so rude, uncommunicative and decided to snatch the plate off the table. I have never seen this level of unprofessionalism and wasteful behavior. Food that was already prepared and cooked to be thrown in the trash. On top of that, everyone around us was getting great service but my table. We spent good money here and deserved better. Do better and DO NOT go here.
Beyond disappointing. It’s clear they don’t care about locals and are catering to a wealthy crowd who are there for the scene but don’t care about quality. I fully expected to pay a lot and wouldn’t have minded except I had to fill out a paper menu, walk it to the pay station, pay in full and tip before I ate - I expect that at a beach bar, not a place that charges $31 for a melon salad, $6 dollars for tap water, and $38 for lobster roll. The lobster roll was soggy and tasted frozen - after one bite, I returned it. Soggy chips as a side. No option to order a drink other than what was on their menu which only came in pitchers. My husband went up to the bar to ask for a specific drink and was told “sorry”. While hostess credited both our meals, which I appreciated, I will never go back. I know they don’t care, but I miss the old restaurant and staff! So sad to see what this place has become. How this business model survives is beyond my understanding.
I recently had the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. My group of 12 was ready to enjoy a nice meal together, but things took a bizarre and unpleasant turn. The staff mistakenly thought someone who wasn’t with us was part of our group. Because of this misunderstanding, they outright refused to serve us. Instead of resolving the issue calmly, they began screaming at us right in the middle of the afternoon, creating a scene and causing unnecessary embarrassment. The lack of professionalism and respect was shocking and unacceptable. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience.
Went to this restaurant expecting a full seafood experience, but was really surprised (and disappointed) to find that some of the seafood dishes included pork — without any clear mention on the menu. For people who avoid pork for dietary, health, or cultural reasons, this is a serious issue. The seafood itself tasted fine, but transparency about ingredients is essential. I hope the restaurant updates their menu descriptions and trains their staff to inform guests properly.
We made a reservation here (instead of Montauk) and realised day of. We looked at the cancellation policies and this case was listed as a no reimbursement case for the (50$ pp cancellation fee). We were a party of 9 (booked for 10- the birthday girl actually even fell sick) and would have had to travel 1.5 hrs to get to this place. So we decided to call before making the trip to see if there was really no other way than us showing up in order to not pay $500 for a missed reservation. Upon many calls to all different phone numbers they have (because they seem to avoid having a working phone number listed at all), a sweet hostess from the Montauk branch told us she spoke to the Orient Point GM and that we were fine to come to the Montauk location and our reservation would be cancelled without the fee. She even called us back after double checking this. Only after getting this confirmation, we decide to not make the trip and instead ate and drank at the Montauk location. However, a few days later I still get a $500 fee charged to my credit card. Upon calling the number again, we were confirmed again that our reservation was cancelled and we’d get reimbursed, over messenger they responded we might get half of the sum back. This was 1 month ago and even after inquiring a few more times we have heard nothing and I paid $500+ the cost of dinner at their sister location. I think the fee first of all is crazy, but sure, agreed to. However, had we not been promised by the restaurant that the cancellation was okay, we would have made the trip out there to not incur the cancellation fee. After the false promise, we now paid $500 for a non existent experience.
Terrible. We came here on a rainy night, with a group for dinner. Obviously this place would be amazing on a lovely warm summer evening but basing your entire restaurant concept on the weather in the North East is stupid at best. When we arrived, all the doors to the deck were wide open. There was quite the breeze coming in, some would call it whipping wind. It was not until it started pouring rain that the staff decided it was time to close the doors. Considering the people seated at the tables closest to said doors were literally being poured on, that was probably a good idea. This involved moving all of their tables to close said doors. The super models did not look happy about having their instagram moment ruined! I’m sure the concept of filling out a form and ordering your meal at a counter works when the place is slammed. But once the season is over, the owners would be wise to transition it to a traditional service restaurant. When you are paying fine dining prices, but have to get up in the middle of dinner to order an additional bottle of wine at the counter and pay, while 8 servers are standing by the bar looking at their phones… something is not working. Anyway, dinner comes. Large platter of dips, which was supposed to be for 2-3 people with three pieces of sliced pita. Not nearly enough for the amount of dips. We asked for more bread. Again, you must go to the counter to order. Yes, we had to pay $6 for extra pita, which really wasn’t extra because there was not enough to begin with. We ordered the mussels, which were old, and inedible. By that time most of us had lost our appetite. They refunded us for them, but the adjustment was done on only one card, which left us having to figure out the finances after dinner. No apologies from the kitchen for serving us extremely questionable food. Thank god my husband has a good nose and stopped us from getting sick. My suggestion, like other reviewers, go for a drink on a summer afternoon, pretend you are on Ibiza, don’t bring a dog, and eat somewhere else.
family style on water chicken tenders 4 pcs were overcooked. dry chicken inside. $24.00. lol. burgers. meh. lobster roll was good. served with horrible stale chips. best thing was the bread basket. not impressed. too expensive for just ok food
Chicken robbery in broad daylight. My experience tonight was disgraceful. First of all, we were charged for tap water which we were not notified about. Then they proceeded to make us fill out a paper sheet with our food requests and order at the front as if it was a fast food chain. It got worse…. they never served my friend’s meal while everyone else slowly got theirs - she waited 30 mins for it until finally she spoke to a waiter before they finally told her they had no more of that option. Instead of giving her a complimentary meal due to the awful service, they charged her and then when we said we didn’t think it was appropriate to charge extra for that meal they SNATCHED it after she had a few bites. A waiter came over and in front of the whole restaurant, grabbed it and threw an 80 dollar chicken away. I don’t need to say much more. The manager watched it all happen and blamed all her staff which is extremely unprofessional. The only thing that is good about this restaurant is the view, which you can see without having to step foot in. My lobster roll was completely mid also.
“Do you want to call the police, babe?” That was the manager’s response when I arrived for a reservation with my service dog. I was then discriminated against and forced to sit in a corner booth outside the restaurant rather than being provided the same seating as other patrons. When I explained my rights, I was told that since it’s a “private business” they can refuse service dogs. This is false — under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and New York State Human Rights Law, service animals must be allowed equal access. The manager’s behavior was not only unlawful but also deeply unprofessional, hostile, and incorrect.
I am baffled by this place. All insanely expensive family style portions and you get charged $50 per person if you need to cancel for any reason. But you walk up to a register to order? At this price point it makes no sense. I was asked when I went to order a second round of drinks what my table # was and chastised for not knowing. Spoiler alert-there are no signs on the tables. Drink menu is quite limited. If you don't want wine the cocktails are very meh--I had to settle for an overly sweet margarita. Such a shame because it is a really pretty setting. Service is really lacking for the price point and vibe is off. Can't imagine sitting down for a drink at the bar at the tiniest barstools I've ever seen in my life...
My boyfriend and I visited this place for dinner and the food was absolutely horrendous. We spent over $500 on food and drinks, specifically a seafood tower which came to us with melted ice with our oysters, shrimp and clams floating in water. The shrimp smelled rancid and the lobster tails were green and rubbery! The tuna tartar was the size of a dime and completely tasteless. We also ordered a tomato salad which consisted of three huge tomato's that were cut into huge quarters (inedible) and served with a sliver of red onion. Our only saving grace was the bottle of wine we ordered. We mentioned our displeasure to one of the waiters and he just shrugged his shoulder and walked away. This place is the biggest racket, over priced and they make you pay before you receive your food so you are stuck with shitty food once you order. Lastly the waiters were all wearing white and every single waiters clothes were stained and dirty. If I could give this place a zero I would. The only positive was the bottle of wine that we ordered and the views of the beach. As a foodie I would say far away from this place if you are looking for fresh seafood or tasty food in general. I nearly cried after our food came. I wish I would've taken more photos but I was so traumatized by the experience that I forgot to take more. HUGE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!! STAY AWAY!
Came here for the location and views and basically that’s the only thing place has to offer. Leaving very disappointed. You don’t really talk with a waitress here, you get paper & pencil to mark your order, then go pay for it to reception. I ordered falafel gyro, cut it was the only vegetarian option available for $31 (no fries goes together with it) Honestly it was the worst falafel I ever had. Saying falafel is offensive to the thing that was on my plate. Very strange consistency that brakes into tiny pieces as you touch it your fork. This recipe should be urgently changed. If this place position itself as level up place $$$ the service should be on the same level, which we didn’t really get. Interesting fact, didn’t know you get charged for tab water 💧 that’s new…
