El Alacrán is praised for its friendly service, delicious authentic Mexican food, and vibrant atmosphere with live music. Jose, the manager/waiter, is frequently mentioned for his exceptional service. Some found it pricey and had issues with slow service or weak margaritas.
Tip: Visit during lunch or happy hour for great prices on food and drinks. Don't miss the passion fruit margarita with gran marnier!
Excellent service with Manager Jose with good food for the price. I went for the lunch special of $8.99 and they serve me a generous portion. The place look nice and clean, especially the restrooms and though my personal taste is not for Mexican art, overall the place look good. They have a big screen where you can “travel the world” by seeing lovely scenery worldwide. They are in Semoran Blvd intersection with East Colonial.
We had my son's wedding in the semi- private room at Catrinas. The food & service was great. The room is perfect for a small event with a capacity of 50 people. We rented the room for the entire day and was able to decorate the place with our own decorations. The owner created a menu based on my budget and was very friendly and accommodating. They have live music after 9pm which worked out great for our event needs.
It shocks me that everytime that I come to this restaurant for lunch that it is dead! The food is amazing with big portion sizes, service is amazing, the drinks are amazing, and the lunch/happy hour prices keep making me come back! Don’t sleep on this restaurant for real! Pictured are their enchiladas and birria torta.
Great place to hang out with your friends or family. We had a wonderful time with live Salsa music. See you there Feb 15 for my birthday celebration. Thank you.
Stopped in to get some work done while my tires were getting changed across the street. First thing I noticed was the fun photo-op entrance—such a great touch! I was greeted warmly and shown to the bar, just like I asked. My bartender (wish I could remember his name—pretty sure it started with an F) was awesome. The margarita hit the spot, the food was delicious, and the whole place had such a cool vibe. I actually called my partner right away to tell her we’re definitely coming back soon—maybe for karaoke or live music, whatever that stage is for!
Amazing food and the service is very personalized with friendly and welcoming staff. We are sure to return to try other dishes! Thank you!
This place was beautiful. Jose was our waiter and took the best care of us. The food was delicious and the presentation was spectacular. I would definitely come back again and again!!
A very nice place to gather with family and friends. Food is good, service too, clean and nice atmosphere. Happy hour and live music was great.
What a nice found this turned out to be today. My wife and I randomly stopped there for lunch, and were pleasantly surprised! The owner/manager Jose welcomed us with open arms, as he was super friendly and professional. Our server Sophia was also very attentive, and so friendly. We loved the food we tried, especially the Mexican tacos El pastor, and the delicious Colombian empanadas. We can't wait to be back again real soon!

I came on a Wednesday afternoon alone. There was no one else there but the service was absolutely wonderful the food was sooo good. I have attached a picture of the food I ordered and a picture of this sauce they gave me that was delicious it was a bit spicy but packed with great flavor. The atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful. I love all the Halloween decor. The bathrooms were also very pretty and clean. They also have deals every day of the week this place is like a hidden gem I will definitely be telling everyone I know about it and I will be returning for a drink because I was unable to order a drink during my visit.
This was an excellent meal of authentic Mexican food. I had three Al Pastor tacos, my wife had the tacos birria. We really enjoyed our food. Our server, Luis C. was impeccable. The old school service. I enjoyed the house margarita just fine. My wife was delighted with the Caipirinha. We’re from Pennsylvania and only here a few weeks, but I’d absolutely return for another meal.
Catrina's is a gem! Amazing food, impeccable service, and a beautiful atmosphere. Bailamos Wednesday has great music and the best vibe. The host, Ileana, is absolutely amazing—her energy is infectious and she makes everyone feel like family the moment they walk in! If you love great music and even better Mexican fusion, this is your spot!
Loved everything about this place. Great decor and atmosphere. Great drink specials $1 draft and $3 margaritas noon to five even on Saturdays! Margarita was on point. Food is delicious. I’m particular about my cheese and it was good here, not overly processed. Got a cheese enchilada and pork chile relleno. Relleno had just the right amount spice. Service was also excellent. We will be back!
Absolutely amazing! From the service (Thanks Jose) to the drinks to the food. You will not be disappointed. Authentic food that has so much flavor. Even the chips and salsa were good. 10 out of 10, I do recommend!
OMG! I love this place. First one I met was Jose he is superman. He does it all. His drinks are amazing!. Specially Marigarita passion fruit with gran marnier to die for! Now the food the steak tacos sooooo good. Those cook are Mexican. They know what do to make it taste 😋!

Nothing to brag about. Margaritas are ok. I asked for a second drink with another shot n I never received it. Food presentation was cute. Tip was included and was not notify, I ended up doubling the tip. Service was not worth for the double tip

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit the restaurant for the first time. The place is very nice and clean. When I walked in, there were no customers—only two employees chatting. Both made eye contact with me but continued talking, so I didn’t know whether I should seat myself or wait to be seated. Since I saw no intention from them to assist me, I proceeded to find a place to sit, and that’s when one of the women approached me. I mentioned it was my first time and that I wasn’t sure whether to seat myself or wait, but I was already on my way to sit down. She neither apologized nor welcomed me for being a first-time visitor. Then José came over and attended to us. He was very kind and courteous; I asked him about the activities at the place, and he patiently explained them to me. His service was excellent, although he didn’t return to the table afterward, and I had to get up to ask someone to bring me the check. At that moment, it was José who came back to the table to handle the payment. Maybe because the place was empty, they didn’t provide top-quality service. Still, I left a 30% tip. One important detail: a young man arrived with a camera to take photos. I told him no because I wasn’t dressed up, but he insisted a little; I told him he could take one of my daughter but not me. It turns out he later told me the photo was $20. Why didn’t he tell me the price upfront—especially since I hadn’t even requested that service? Not wanting to be rude, I paid for the photo. Overall, I’d say my experience was 50/50. The food was good, and the horchata was very tasty. I would give the place another chance to see how the experience might be next time. My suggestion: whether it’s one customer or fifty, always deliver excellent service.
A little pricey for what you get. The Raspberry Mojito was really good. The soccer game was on and they have a massive TV, so it was a little loud for a taco Tuesday. The Margarita I hear was good. Corn shell tacos were full of meat. But didn’t come with beans and rice without an extra charge. Very clean bathrooms. Our server was socialable

The aesthetic is really nice in here, but I wasn’t a big fan of the food personally. It was underseasoned and I didn’t like how soft the shell was on the taco. Also, I got a margarita and it tasted like there was nothing but sweet-and-sour. I ended up only eating one of my three tacos and I drank the margarita just to be a team player, but all of it was nasty. I still end up paying for meal .
Went there for a company's department "get together" and while it was great we had a section of tables together in a corner the watress/server was not readily available for us because she evidently also had another section of tables to wait. Drinks took long and food took even longer to come out. Otherwise it looks like a good entertainment spot where they have a huge screen and they offer karaoke. Nice place to hang out with friends and colleagues. I wouldn't go there for an intimate date night or something IMO.

Came here to celebrate my brothers birthday but it turned out to be a negative experience. To start off, when the rest of party arrived (me included) the server who was a girl with long black hair, didn’t offer us any extra menus. We had to ask. She kept leaving without making sure we were ready to order and such. She also kept staring at us and not talking as much or taking initiative of the party. Now when it came to the food, some items came out within 20 minutes and others took up to OVER AN HOUR to come out. Everyone ended up eating at different times and the order for the birthday boy was entirely wrong and the last dish to come out. He did not eat it. She only came to our tables to drop off food, not to ask us if we needed anything or to ask us if the food is good or offer refills / extra napkins and so on. Now we grabbed the manager on duty (this was December 27th, 2025, around 7pm) and told him everything that went wrong and how we could fix the situation or make it into a positive experience. He proceeded to tell us he could “only” take off his food and told us our server was sick. We said if he could apply a discount of some sorts or take off the tacos that took an hour and he did nothing. Worst management and customer service I’ve experienced. Both server and manager made this experience negative. Do not recommend this place :( Food was okay. They also still charged us auto gratuity of 18%
