If you’re looking for comfort food made with love and served with a smile, Tamale Company is the place to go. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels more like a family gathering than a restaurant. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive—genuinely happy to be there and make your experience special. Now, let’s talk about the food. The birria tacos are absolutely phenomenal—tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, with a rich consommé that ties everything together. Every bite is a burst of savory goodness. And the cheese melt? Pure magic. Gooey, melty “Chihuahua “ cheese and pulled beef and just the right amount toast on the outside. It’s comfort food at its finest. Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, Tamale Company delivers consistently excellent food and service. Highly recommend checking it out—you won’t leave disappointed.
Went to the college park location and the food/ambiance is so authentic as many previous reviews had said, but I wanted to highlight something special that happened: When coming for dinner, there was a disruptive gentleman at the bar that looked homeless, but Sergio, who I think is the main guy/manager of this location absolutely handled the situation beautifully, creating no drama/disruption to the meals of the rest of us in the restaurant. The gentleman causing the scene looked to be taken care of with some food and great service. The food alone is merit to come here and have a good meal, but knowing that the staff are not only professional, but empathetic, gives it even more reason to support this location in the college park neighborhood.
After a very long day/ week all I wanted was my book and a margarita. Came to the right place! I have never been here before but heard super good things. Ms Toby hostess & server Greeted me with a welcoming smile. She was very attentive (but not overwhelming) I mentioned I wanted to finish my book, drink a margarita and chill. Ms Toby let me do exactly that while still keeping an eye and providing the best service. I had a little snack and was delicious and both of the margaritas recommended were delicious. Thank you hun you are awesome!
I'm thrilled to have this restaurant in College Park. I've been a big fan of Tamale Co food truck at Lake Eola farmer's market for a couple years, so excited to have this in my backyard now! Their food is delicious, the atmosphere is inviting and friendly, the service is great. I went in recently and had the birria empanadas and CDMX cocktail, both were sooooo good. Highly recommend
OMG! Do not sleep on this cozy little spot! The atmosphere is so gorgeous. It's cozy inside. There are small tables inside, spots at the bar & patio seating. I chose to sit at the bar. Patricio was our bartender and waited on us. He explained the drink menu really well. All the drinks were specifically made for them by a mixologist from Yucatan. All the drinks were named after something special in Mexico and each drink featured a fresh ingredient from Mexico. We asked for suggestions on the menu and he did not disappoint. Mole fries- sweet and savory. My first time trying mole. It was unexpected. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I think this depends on your taste. Tamales - chicken and pork. Both extremely delicious. Covered with salsa Verde and cotija cheese. I preferred the pork over the chicken. Absolutely delicious! Served with black refried beans and Spanish rice. Esquites - basically deconstructed Elote. I have never had elote before. Patricio explained this dish was a favorite street food in Mexico. That it was served just like this in a cart. I cannot explain how absolutely delicious this corn was! Like addictive! Definitely a must if you stop by! Hibiscus drink, non-alcoholic. Yum! 👍👍 The complimentary chips and salsa were absolutely fantastic. The chips were thin and crispy, with just the right amount of salt. And the salsa was just the right amount of chunky. With not an overwhelming amount of cilantro. Service was over the top. Patricio was absolutely one of a kind. He had told us a story about every dish and every drink that came to our table. Please request him if you go there!
New location in College park for an old favorite! Although they were always great, the new place is bigger, fancier, well lit and decorated and there were some added food items that were simply delicious! Now with a full bar, I expect the word to get out and they should do well there! Flavorful and authentic!
I came to Tamale and Co. to celebrate a joint birthday for my mother and me, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The food was incredible—flavorful, fresh, and made with care. Every dish felt like a celebration on its own! But what truly made the night unforgettable was the service. Our server, Sergio, went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He was attentive, kind, and made us feel genuinely special. His exceptional hospitality turned a great dinner into a truly spectacular experience. If you’re looking for delicious food and top-tier service, I highly recommend Tamale and Co. We’ll definitely be back!
We were taken care of by Carlos and he was patient, diligent and very courteous. He helped us with the menu and suggested what turned out to be the best food I ever had. The ambience was breathtaking and even the water was refreshing. I will suggest this to everyone I come in contact with. 5 stars without fail.
5 stars across the board. Our server was very professional and attentive, outdoor seating is perfect for a sunny day as there is overhead shade, and the food is fantastic. We’ll definitely be back.
Best place we have been to in Orlando! If you visit and sit at the bar make sure you have Jason taking care of you! His knowledge and experience behide the bar is top notch!! Food and service both get a solid 5 stars from me!
First time there – – the food was spectacular! Queso and guacamole were perfect. Portions are HUGE — lots of leftovers. The house margaritas are excellent. Attentive service - we will go again. Great addition to College Park!
**Took extra care with my allergies.** Easy to eat dairy and gluten free here, just ask your server for swaps. They usually have vegan cheese available too. I had the black bean tamales. Super delicious, and a great value. Portion size was huge. They’ve got some amazing house made hot sauce (available on request so be sure to ask for it!). There’s a nice patio, if you’re looking to eat outside. Absolutely recommend this place! We will be back.
Tamale co has the most authentic Mexican vibe in the area. The staff is warm and treat you like family. Go visit them on Tuesday’s for taco specials. I’ve been once and going again this week tonight. I would go weekly if I could. 10/10 would recommend to all my family and friends
Amazing food and service. Our waiter was John and it only be his 5th day on the job and he was Awesome. The food was out of this world. This is my second time eating at this restaurant and it was as delicious as the 1st time. You need to come check this place out.
Everyone was very kind and the food was delicious! Very accommodating to dietary restrictions and special requests. The black beans that came with the meal and the watermelon margarita were the highlights of my week! Can’t wait to go back!
If I could give more stars I would. This place not only has delicious food but it’s so beautiful. My server was quite friendly and you can tell he loves the food too. It’s SO MUCH more than tamales. Try the mole fires. Very unique and fantastic. $3 tacos on taco Tuesday. Absolutely bursting with flavor. I’ll be back often!
Natalie and Iris were awesome! They had great energy and made our visit such a pleasant experience! The food was amazing as well, we got tamales, birria tacos, and street corn. All of the food tasted and looked excellent! Looking forward to the next time we come back!
We love this place !!!! My friends & I come here all the time for the food and the vibes. The moment you walk in you see all this beautiful Mexican decor it’s such a fun and welcoming space. The food is always incredible. Their tamales are some of the best I’ve ever had, the Dos amigos with added pico on top is my go to order, and the steak salad, empanadas, churros, and wings are all amazing too! The wings are spicy to those who are sensitive but I love spicy ! As a parent of a child with food allergies I’m especially grateful for how careful and accommodating the staff is. They always prepare his meals separately and we’ve never had an issue! Our waiters always alert the manager that someone has a food allergy so my kids meal is cooked separately for no cross contamination which is rare to find in some places! Also don’t miss out on their horchata it’s one of my all time favorite drinks from them which I am usually extremely picky about!
All positive things! Except for no paper towels in the bathroom. I always imagine the guy cooking my food had to touch the dirty handle to leave the restroom before he cooks my food... 😬🫣 We had off the brunch menu (Saturday Morning): Tamales Sunrise w/ Chicken - 4/5 ⭐ Morning Burrito with Asada - 4/5 ⭐ Salsa Picante - 5/5 ⭐ Mole Fries - 5/5 ⭐ would recommend. We would come back! P. S. I know you're saving the world, one paper towel at a time, but it's still gross no matter the intention.
We came for lunch and sat outside, and it was such a peaceful vibe. We ordered the birria tacos, taquitos, and churros. Everything tasted fresh and made from scratch, and it was honestly so good. Our server Sergio took great care of us. He was kind, attentive, and made us feel appreciated the whole time. We will absolutely come back and I truly recommend this spot if you want good food and good energy.
Have to shout out the staff for being so accommodating in making a new meal for one of our party who accidentally ordered something they couldn't eat. They were kind and patient, and checked up on us several times. The presentation of their drinks and food was fun and fresh!
3 dollar tacos on tuesday. Service was excellent. Fast, very attentive. Food was great. Decorations were very Mexican, looked authentic. Had some clothing and other things for sale. High quality, low price
I absolutely love this place—not just for the food, but for the people. Everyone is so kind, and the atmosphere is truly welcoming. I'm proud of how they showcase and celebrate their Mexican culture, from the beautiful paintings to the thoughtful décor. I'm so happy they’ve opened this larger location, but I also love that the original spot is still around. From my very first visit, when I met Natalie (the manager), I knew I’d always be a fan. She's genuinely kind and beautiful inside and out. My family and I can’t wait to go back—and we hope to see them continue growing and thriving. We definitely need a location in Tampa, lol!
This is a beautifully decorated restaurant with delicious food. My husband and I went for dinner on a Sunday evening and were seated immediately. Service was fast and the food came out piping hot. I loved the glasses the water was served in as well as the presentation of the meal. The queso in particular was delicious and I enjoyed the colorful pillows. We would definitely return.
Such a great experience tonight at the Tamale Co. Modern Mexican Kitchen & Bar! We went in as new customers and left as loyal patrons. We had 4 different entrees an app and dessert. Everything was extremely well executed. The app was a trio of queso, salsa, and guacamole with chips. The entrees included Molé Tamales, Carne Adada Fajitas, Birria Surf and Turf Tacos, and Carne Asada Tamales. Dessert was a mini churro cart and it was deliciously darling in its presentation! We had mocktails that were fantastic, and a few house margaritas. Everything was authentic and delicious. The food was well presented, perfectly seasoned, and hot. Service was attentive but not overbearing.
The food was incredible! It has been such a long time since I felt excited about a restaurant. The atmosphere and service were great and very pleasant. The drinks (both Margaritas) were to die for. We will definitely come back here and bring friends since this is a place worth sharing.
Tamale and Co. in College Park is a gem! The tamales are absolutely incredible—authentic, flavorful, and made with love. The staff is friendly (especially Natalie!), welcoming, and passionate about their food. The atmosphere is cozy and vibrant, perfect for a casual lunch or a fun dinner. Don’t miss the elote or the house-made sauces—they’re game changers! This place is a must-visit for tamale lovers in Orlando. Thank you for opening in College Park!!!!!
I had no idea Tamale Co.'s College Park location had recently opened until my neighbor mentioned it was open and he asked if I wanted to go. I have absolutely zero complaints; the hosts and hostesses are fabulous, the bartenders are fabulous, and our server, Nicole, was fabulous. Back of the house is also incredible; the food was so delicious; my neighbor added mole sauce to his enchiladas and said that should be a menu item (the mole was simply perfect), my torta milanesa (first time learning of this dish) was perfect, and the chips and salsa were fresh (i don't know if the chips are made in house, but they tasted like it). The decorations are beautiful; they aren't kidding when they said there's day of the dead decor. This location has a full bar, and since I walked there, I took full advantage of that and had 3 drinks (skinny margarita, paloma mama cruz and margarita bellini). I was told these drinks were hand crafted specifically for them and I believe it; they were so unique and delicious. Apparently I absolutely must try the Como La Flor, which is one of the hosts' favorite of the mezcal drinks and you don't have to love the smokiness of mezcal to love the drink. I highly recommend this restaurant at the College Park location (I haven't been to the other one) and I will definitely be back.
Great food and drinks! Natalie was top tier. We will definitely be back! I would check out the specials.
The most deliciousssss vegan tamales in all of Orlando! Very spoiled to have them in this neighborhood. They're also pet -friendly on the patio which is a nice touch. My go-to order is the Jamaica agua fresca and the vegan frijoles negros!!
Fantastic spot, loved the tamales here. Prices are reasonable and the presentation for the food was beautiful, too. The flavor on the rice and beans was on point and the tamales themselves were moist and flavorful. We also tried the mole fries as an appetizer and the mole was delicious.
John the bartender and the all the staff were amazing. The food was great and affordable. Definitely will come back and will recommend this place to all my friends and family
We been following the tamale co around for years. Their food and drinks have always been good but this location has taken it to the next level. Drinks are super fancy and food is amazing. The place looks amazing and is perfectly decorated. Everything is super instagramable. The drinks, the dessert.. the food and the service. I’m just sad that they opened right after my birthday because now I have to wait a year for me to have my birthday here.

I hosted a casual company dinner here and the experience was amazing! Everyone was telling me how much they loved this restaurant the next day. Food was great, customer service was fantastic, place was a vibe. It’s so refreshing to have such an organized and fun experience for a big party like us (20 people) at a restaurant that doesn’t require a deposit or room rental. We’ll definitely be back!
Decor and seating inside was beautiful. Loved all the beverages we had, limeade and horchata were delicious. Our favorite items were the chips and the off the cob street corn. SooOooo tasty and plenty to go around! We will be coming back!

New Location. I like it better, The service is handled differently, than their 1st restaurant/Location. At location one you order at the counter, pay, and find a spot to sit. At location 2 you sit waitress comes over, and you know the rest. Food is on point.
Tamales and Tacos? Great combo. Ordered carne asada tacos and chorizo tamales. At first... the atmosphere looks great. Very exciting and inviting to try out and get a good seat. Chairs... benches...cushions.. very cool. Decorations of Latin culture. Love it. Greated nicely... Sat right away. It was a Wednesday night around 8pm. For a Mexican vibe... sure had lots of TVs for that sports bar mix.. very cool. Food... taste was good. Didn't blow me away. But id like to come back and try more. I prefer the meat/proteins to be inside the tamales... some are...not all. The meat inside spreads the flavor to the masa...so you aren't just biting into masa and cheese. Like I said.. id like to try a different dish. Photo of chorizo tamales posted. Price and quantity and quality.. seemed to measure up nicely. 2 dinners... 2 alcohol drinks.. $60 .. which included 20% tip. Not bad. The table salsa was good... thick and flavor... doesn't just wet the chip. I like spicier... so they provided a small sample of their green spicy.. now that one kicks nicely. Used it on my tamales. Thank you.

I really don’t like giving bad reviews, especially on restaurants, but the food I ate was bland and uninspired. My dining partner felt the same. We had various tacos, which fell apart, had little flavor and tasted like reused oil, and the black beans were just weird. Not sure why all the 5-star reviews for this place, but this diner feels the opposite. Won’t be returning.
HAS SO MUCH TO IMPROVE ON! I love mexican food and out of the many places i gotten it from i got it from here, WORST one ever. No plates on the tables? just napkins, how am i suppose to eat the chips and salsa😭On a napkin? super strange, and gave no straws. The birria sauce was flavorless, cheese tasted very weird and sweet, tortillas looked like it had yellow food coloring instead of the real sauce. It tasted very weird and had no flavor. The tamales were super bad… had an extremely odd taste. Their rice was okay, and beans were good. The people who enjoy this place would probably be best for people who aren’t used to ethnic food (which is okay). I wouldn’t recommend it not only because the food was very strange but also cause they don’t have basic plates/anything in their tables. Should’ve known by the frida kahlo plastered all over the place. (she was a bad person and Does NOT represent mexican culture well) You can tell this restauarant was made by 6th gen. INSTEAD TRY azules or tinguanas if you’re interested in a better tex mex restaurant.
Visited Tamale Co. on Cinco de Mayo—place was packed, which we took as a good sign. Unfortunately, service was disorganized. Our 30-min wait turned into confusion when the host claimed to call us, but we never got anything. Server only checked on us once. Tacos were flavorful, and the guac was great, but the salsa and queso lacked flavor. Margaritas were too sour—my girlfriend couldn’t drink hers, and even after the manager made a new one, it was still bad. The music was mostly American pop, which didn’t match the festive vibe we expected for Cinco de Mayo. For a modern Mexican spot, we hoped for more cultural flair. Disappointed overall.
Amended review- I went back last night for a late dinner and got a table in the back because the music was really loud but then the volume of the music became completely unbearable!!! The volume was actually painful and I couldn’t even hear the bartender screaming at me 4 feet away so I got out of there before I even ordered. Really it’s too bad because the food is delicious.
