This dining establishment offers a truly delightful experience. The staff provided exceptional service, contributing to a very pleasant atmosphere. The cuisine was outstanding, exceeding all expectations. We were particularly impressed by the attentiveness and professionalism of several team members: Arturo, Edgar and the chef. It is a venue highly recommended for its superb food and welcoming ambiance.
My husband reserved us a table for Valentine’s Day brunch to avoid the crowds, and it was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, everything about the experience was amazing. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. It truly made our Valentine’s celebration feel special and relaxed. I would highly recommend this place for any occasion, and we will definitely be coming back!
Lovely and cozy French bistro. Food was great and service was very attentive. We loved the frog legs and the chicken liver pasta. They also surprised me with a birthday dessert! I did not mention my birthday when making the reservation and it was two days away but they brought me a chocolate mousse and sang me the birthday song. What a pleasant surprise! I love this restaurant and will definitely be visiting again next time we are in town.
Traditional French bistro, honest good food, well prepared, friendly services and attention to all details , including the delicious mousse with warm baguette. The chef and owner was there greeting every customer, you don't see that kind of customer service nowadays. The prix fixe menu is absolutely the best value you can get in town.
My wife is Parisian and my blood is Italian, i grew up in Rome and Paris, for 50 + years we have dined everywhere from Tunisia to Cascais at the tip of Portugal to the north of Italy where the polenta is served directly on a marble table......I say this because although we are local , we have been around and speak 4 languages between us....so when we say that our first visit to Chez Pierre was a wondrous culinary delight with authentic vintage French music , first class service , keen attention by the owners as they glide table to table ( old school ) making sure everyone is is satisfied , trust us , we highly recommend this beautiful establishment , even the valet parking gentleman was kind and very polite We were Immediately charmed by a very lovely hostess who made us feel welcome as we entered and were seated in a cozy corner spot we were Immediately engulfed in a different era of etiquette and old world charm ~ we will be back Indeed. " Vive la france , vive la Republique "
Great food, delicious, interesting and beautiful. Staff were very polite, I got a pretty good answer when I asked got a wine reccomendation. Nice atmosphere, it was a little warm in the area I was sitting but the resturant overall was very immrersive.
So yum. Staple in my life. I think they are able to modify / create to accommodate dietary restrictions
Perfect....New Year Eve dinner. Happy New Year! Thank you! 🥂🎉
Excellent food and great services.
An easy 5 stars for this adorable French Bistro. Everything from the staff, the food, and the atmosphere brought a spectacular show to a wonderful evening. Thank you, Esther and the whole crew!! Kamiapp.com loves you!!
Our favorite restaurant in the valley. We have never had a bad meal and the service is above and beyond. AND, the prices are pretty good too. ❤️
Our first time to visit this hidden gem but not our last. The food and service is first class. The chef visits each and every table to make sure the food is prepared to your perfection. Plan on visiting this
Ate here is February just before the pandemic struck but can't wait to return. Agree with reviewer who said the biggest problem was deciding what to eat. Don't be put off by strip mall environs. This is a very good restaurant.
The service is exceptional and I love the pate, the onion soup, and the specials. !! A must try!
What an unbelievable place!!! The service is exceptional, the food out of this world, and the ambiance romantic and lovely. If you live anywhere in the Coachella Valley or are one of the many tourists to the desert, I highly recommend you make a reservation and experience this restaurant!
Excellent in every regard. The menu is wonderfully French, the service impeccable and the atmosphere quietly perfect. Everything we sampled was delicious and presented beautifully. A cinch for a Michelin star or two, I would think.
Amazing food, service, ambience was not bad. I had read a lot of reviews about how noisy it was, and the lack of any sort of ambience. I have to disagree, it was a bit loud, but it was very lively people laughing, we actually enjoyed the atmosphere.
Among the best French restaurants in Coachella valley. Not inexpensive but the food is outstanding. A bit noisy but better than most. Servers need to be a little more friendly.
Excellent french food. Authentic. Expensive but its truly fine dining. Went there the first time and book a second dinner the next day. From the pate that came with the bread to the dover sole special ($62) to the apple tart, it was truly a gourmet meal. All in with tip expect to spend about 90pp. I have been to similarly priced restaurants and came away disappointed. Rather have one meal here over to mediocre meals elsewhere.
A truly precious find in Palm Desert! The wait staff were professional, warm and welcoming. The food was fabulous; some of the best French food we’ve had since leaving France. We had a really enjoyable, delicious evening. I highly recommend.
Simply amazing! The restaurant is off the beaten track, and doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside it's comfy and welcoming and the food is spectacular. When you sit down they bring you a basket of fresh bread with butter and a ramekin of delicious pate. We had the three course prix fixe they are currently offering (a great value at the price, the portions were very generous) and it was all wonderful. We particularly recommend the celeri remoulade, the sweetbreads, and the chocolate mousse.
From start to finish a great evening. Walked in the door and was greeted by Pierre with a big hug. A nice crowd for a Tuesday night. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. They serve a delicious pate with great bread.I could have eaten that all evening. Our entrees were great. I had the duck and my husband the orange roughy, both which came with yummy potatoes au gratin. We had no room for desert but the menu looked lovey. Ended the evening by thanking Pierre a wonderful time. We will be returning to this restaurant.
Our long time favorite...excellent food, charming staff and Pierre himself is great fun, always stopping at each table to chat. Staying open all summer this year for the first time. New offering: Happy Hour with small plates and samples from the dinner menu from 4:30 till 7:00. Great idea for the hot summer months.
Outstanding food and experience, every time. My daughter and I are obsessed with the pâté, and that’s just the bread basket!! We love everything on the menu, my daughter loves the fish (wild caught and fresh) and my personal fav is the liver. Pierre is a delight to see every time, we are always welcomed like family! 5 stars well deserved.
An outstanding restaurant, the quality of the food can not be surpassed. Old school, Chef Pierre checking on his customers, fresh bread and house made pate delight immediately. His staff attentive and polished. We all enjoyed every aspect of our experience and will be back for more!
Staff was above and beyond the best service! Met and greeted by the chef! Pate amazing! They let have many different entrees as appetizers! Frog legs the best and the escargot heaven! Wish they had a restaurant in Orange County!
It is one of the best French restaurants in the valley if not in the United States. The staff and the Chef, Pierre, are excellent. We had a wonderful evening the food was exceptional. I highly recommend Chez Pierre's bistro for special occasions or for dinner any evening.
Above & beyond any and all expectations! The staff, including chef Pierre greet you as welcomed and valued guests. The food and service are six-star worthy. The pre-dinner bread is served hot, fresh and along with the obligatory butter a generous supply of chicken/duck liver pate to die for! The menu, while not extensive features a fabulous variety of traditional french culinary delights including the best escargot I have ever eaten. Like frogs legs? Don't even think of passing on these! Biggest challenge for me was choice of appetizer and entree. Our waiter facilitated the decision by offering main course dishes appetizer sized. Was able then to try virtually everything with appeal and was disappointed with nothing Can't wait to go back to Pierres to relive one of the best dining experiences of a lifetime!
Amazing. First off - The Chef was nominated Best Chef of America. 2nd of all - Best food ever. Whatever you pick has the best and freshest ingredients selected between locally grown and straight from France products. Truly authentic French cuisine without having to travel all the way to France. If you have a chance to have the soft shell crab get it. You cant get it anywhere else to taste THAT AMAZING!!!! I've been here so many times and all his past restaurants I can call myself a true fan of Chef Pierre.
One of the better, most classically authentic, and well priced restaurants in the Valley. A real “sleeper” in the sense that there is a lack of signage, public reviews, or advertizing. I cannot say enough about this restaurant and would return anytime I wanted a great French meal without any hype or excessive pricing.
The evening was perfect. Wait staff was professional and the food sublime. I had escargot with great flavor. Then vicsoice
Jaw-dropping food. This is the best French food I've had since I was in Paris. And it's quite a bit better than most of the food I had there. If you like real-deal French cousine, you won't go wrong here. If you speak a little French, that wouldn't hurt, as Pierre and his wife ( I think the greeter/hostess lady is his wife) are both from Bordeaux.
A exceptional surprise! The food was perfection as well as the service. Pierre came to the table and listed the evenings entries which all sounded amazing. I wish I could have tried them all
Chez Pierre in Palm Desert feels like stepping into a charming French bistro. The atmosphere is beautiful and inviting, and everything we ordered was delicious. The bread and pâté alone deserve an A+. It’s one of the rare places where you can find traditional delicacies like beef tongue, organic liver, and veal kidney on the menu, which is a treat for anyone who appreciates classic French cuisine. Their fish is all wild-caught, and the wine list is thoughtfully curated and approachable. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and experience. A wonderful spot for an authentic French meal in the desert.
Hidden Gem in the Palm Springs - Palm Desert area! Food was delicious, service was attentive not intrusive, good house wines and menu had something for everyone. We had the caesars salad, escargot (such a treat) and a few other apps, then the fish special entree and a pasta. All were very good, well prepared, good ingredients, and the deserts - do not miss the chocolate mousse. Dining room is charming and we could hear each other speak! Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Went to Chez Pierre for the new breakfast/brunch menu. Food was EXCELLENT. Same for the service. The French crepe is especially good. Loved the quiche Lorraine too. Will definitely be going back.
With some good choices in the valley, Chez Pierre provides rock solid execution of French bistro classics with a caring, reliable, and capable staff. I cannot go a month without a visit.
Loved the menu choices. Great service and atmosphere. Great value. Pate with bread is nice add to start.
While I didn't try it, our table of seven gobbled up the breads and pate. We all did the three courses, and ordered off the menu. The salads weren't spectacular, and the goat cheese was pretty much missing from the goat cheese salad. Two people ordered the French onion soup, and both really enjoyed it. Everyone who tried the escargots liked them, too. Dinners we'd recommend are the tartare, veal, and braised beef. Everything was tasty and fresh
I really enjoyed my meal. Our wait staff was knowledgeable and efficient. A great place to have a special dinner. Not a place for young children. It was an older group of dinners, very old school. It looked like the dinners were regulars. The owner/hostess personally went to different tables greeting guests. I had fish and my husband had the lamb special. Both were excellent.
The food is expertly prepared. However, the menu is very 1960s Julia Childs' French classic, mostly inaccessible if you're under 60. Dishes such as frog legs and chicken liver sauce over pasta are a bit anarchonistic.
First time here. Seems to be an older crowd place..no TV .......no music. Oysters were small, only one decent size . Husband loved the escargo. Pate was wonderful! Great service. Cesar salads were okay. Out of all three dinners, husband’s was the best dinner......mine.. veal saute piccata .....too buttery. BUT we will try again. Next time I will order what he had...braised beef Burgoyne. It was delightful.
French crusty bread with pate to welcome what's to come. Full bar and wine offerings. I had the Dover Sole in a caper white wine sauce and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her calves liver entree. We saved room for dessert and espresso naturally.
Place is too crammed. Food is OK, not the best French experience in the area though. Too many mains have pasta in them, which makes them more Italian than French. Menu on OpenTable platform needs to be updated. Most items not available anymore. No kids menu. Senseless rule printed on the menu about substitutions or sharing plates not allowed on the table.
I was excited..... but did not follow through
I had the birth bourguignon and it had hardly any sausage and the meat was rather tough and it was served on noodles instead of potatoes. My husband foolishly ordered a risotto in a French restaurant I don't know why but it wasn't very good the service is excellent
We were really looking forward to some authentic French food, but were very disappointed. The Escargot was really lacking flavor and they removed items from the menu that we were looking forward to feom the menus online. They didnt have muscles even though it was an R month. Finally we might have hasld the specials, two of which were fiah, but the prices were $10 more than the other menu items. It might be a hit or miss place, but the night we went it was a miss.
Beef tongue was completely undercooked tough and chewy and there was no mention on the menu of it cooked in cinnamon… The spinach had no seasoning no garlic no butter no oil no flavor… Sautéed spinach sucked Sweet breads were over braised and mushy… So sad, and I must continue for a moment… The onion soup was a major disappointment… You shouldn't have to search for onions in onion soup and it had no body the broth was watery… So there you have it I still left a huge tip but will never return
Classic French dishes poorly prepared. The escargots were burnt, the top of the dish was black and the butter sauce had dried out. The fish soup was horrendous, watery, salty like a bouillon made from a cube, certainly no fish made it to this soup. The rouille was not rouille, looked more like bland mayo. The sweetbreads were not properly cleaned lots of skin left, they were not seared, it was just a plate of mushiness. The beef bourguignon was just ok. Tarte tatin was just a re-heated apple pie, tarte fine aux pommes was a round piece of dough with a single paper thin slice of apple and so much cinnamon it was inedible. To make things worse, they were busy on the night we went there, there is no bar so they had people waiting for a table sit along the wall just inches to my chair, one of the ladies was coughing her heart off directly on me. Very expensive for sub par food, an assassination of French classics
Everything everyone said about the food and atmosphere is correct—excellent. However, our special evening of celebration was totally spoiled when we were told that we needed to leave as there were people waiting for our table. I had ordered a glass of wine when my meal was served, which didn’t come until we had all almost finished our meals, so I still had a full glass when we were first approached by the hostess telling us there were people waiting for our table. I began drinking more quickly than I would have. After a few minutes the hostess returned to our table to tell us “this is not right, you have been here two hours.” In addition to the service being somewhat slow, to be virtually asked to leave ended our otherwise lovely evening with insult and great disappointment. This should never happen in any restaurant let alone one of this caliber.
