Tip: Go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner - you can get lunch or even dinner during breakfast hours. Be prepared for potentially short waits, but the prompt service and food are worth it.

Everything about Biily Reed’s was excellent! Our server - Jackie - was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was excellent and good-sized portions as well (we left with boxes). The atmosphere was comfortable and formal, at the same time (if that makes sense). We were comfortable in the restaurant, yet felt like it was a special treat. I highly recommend Billy Reed’s to any visiting Palm Springs!
Im in town for a couple nights staying at the Margaritaville Resort right across the street and decided to give this place a try as it was the closest sit down restaurant in walking distance. I headed over on a Tuesday night and was seated immediately. The place is huge and very old fashioned, I loved it. There is a lot of character in it and it’s certainly not everyone’s taste, but I really enjoyed it. The place clearly can seat a TON of people so you know it must be somewhat good. That assumption would be correct. The place was great. Dinners come with soup or salad, a potato dish (fries, baked potato, etc.), daily vegetable and a bread (date, banana or corn). This is above and beyond most places typical 1 or 2 sides and so it was a pleasant surprise to have all of this included. The price would’ve seemed steep, but with all that I took it as a good deal. I had the halibut, which was decent, but everything else was great. I was so delighted with my experience I returned again the next night and found out I could get lunch for dinner, which turned out quite a cheaper and I had the Tuna Melt which was fantastic. Service here each quick and friendly. If you’re nearby, definitely go ahead and give this place a try!
Classic, peaceful, beautiful, super dope, and memorable. The best place to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a family. The food? Don't ask me how much I love them because I really do! The price is so affordable. This is also a good place to have a wedding party or birthday party. Please stop by this place if you visit Palm Springs. So recommended!
What a fantastic experience! Time traveling to multiple eras and a menu for days, it’s a truly unique experience. All the staff and especially Cesar treated us wonderfully and the pies were outrageously delicious.
This place is amazing! The food is absolutely delicious and the service is great! The meatloaf is a must have with the gravy. Also, the desserts are out of this world!
Great food and service. This place has been in business for 50 years must be good. I enjoy the food and ambiance every time. Almost forgot to mention the long list of pies that you will certainly take home. Banana cream is my favorite.
I'm sad to learn about the potential sale of Billy Reed's restaurant. I've only recently discovered Billy Reed's and have been there twice in the last 2 weeks. Overall great food, service and atmosphere.
I had a wonderful meal, their prime rib roast was absolutely outstanding as always, tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The portion was generous, and it was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were attentive and friendly. If you’re a fan of prime rib or just looking for a great dining experience in Palm Springs, I highly recommend Billy Reed’s. Can’t wait to visit again!
Great place with friendly, warm atmosphere. Wait staff was excellent. Food came out promptly. Feels like a Palm Spring institution.
This is my new (even though it's been around for decades) favorite breakfast place in Palm Springs. The decor is magnificent, the service is impeccable, and the food is delicious. The setting is quite beautiful at the base of the mountain, and the location is convenient and easy to access. I'll go back every time I'm in town. Plenty of accessible parking, and the restaurant is accessible.
Family owned and real homemade food that's delicious. Large portions. Friendly staff. Great service. Large menu with breakfast served all day. The homemade cake and pie selection is vast and varied with no disappointments. The pineapple coconut cake is literally the best cake I have ever had. No exaggeration. A Palm Springs institution and staple...and for good reason.
We had breakfast here on a Sunday morning around 9:30. What a treat this was. The food was very good, but it was breakfast food (steak and eggs, country fried steak) so if you screw that up you don't deserve to be in business. That being said, the service was excellent, truly a wonderful interaction with all the staff. The atmosphere is the best part of this place. It is a great, untouched throwback to the heyday of Palm Springs, and there is a reason this place is an institution. I highly recommend checking it out, especially at breakfast. Tip: get the cinnamon roll. It's excellent.
A classic restaurant with culture. There are lots of antique things to see with a classic, old theme and large chandeliers hanging from the ceiling that really bring the whole eating experience together. As for the food, they have lots of items to select from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We picked from their dinner menu as we had dinner there. Family and I all enjoyed our meals as they were very tasty. The size of their dishes and the quality match the price, so you will get the bang for your buck. This place is 100% recommended and I can not wait to take more people there with me!
We had Breakfeast/Brunch here and it was Amazing. The Food was Amazing, came fast, and was delicious. The Service was very good with their always being someone to help and refills always coming fast. The Atmosphere was nice and the seating was Comfortable.
Have been for breakfast many times - don’t let the throwback atmosphere scare you because this place is great and very clean. Food always good, portions large, service always friendly and attentive.
Can't say enough about this place❤. I wish I could eat there every day for breakfast lunch and dinner and you still would never be able to eat everything they have on the menu to offer. Everything I order blows me away how delicious it is. And they give you so many choices For your sides if you order a sandwich , such a variety of choices, absolutely love this place and would give them a 100 more stars if possible. They have like 5 different soups To choose from made every day, nobody has that .. ❤ Every waiter and waitress and hostess too, right from the start are friendly and helpful, After seated you never want for anything. They are always on top of refilling your drinks.
Everyone was very nice. Including our waitress: and her helpers( waters, cleaning the table) Food was amazing: We went in at 1045am- half our party ate breakfast while the others got lunch! Amazing food, everything came out hot and fresh! Definitely will be back when we visit Palm Springs again-- thank you for sharing stories about the restaurant :)
Its hard to describe walking into a 12000 sq ft restaurant from the 70s that still has the same decor. This place brought so much joy before i even ordered my food. The breakfast was awesome, the pecan waffle, the omelet, gravy, biscuit was all excellent. The service was awsome as well. The best way i can describe it here is you walk and and you walk out feeling warm and fuzzy inside. If you in palm springs you need to go here.
This is a great spot for a hearty breakfast. The staff were kind and accommodating. You Can't go wrong with most of the meals. I say most because I haven't eaten everything in the menu, yet! Everything I've had has been delicious. It's rustic for sure but worth stopping in. I met Billy too! He was there the morning my group of 7 came in. Looking strong and greeting us with a smile. Recommended for singles to a family! Enjoy!!
Billy Reed's is a Palm Springs landmark restaurant. We eat here often. The menu has a huge selection of excellent choices. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered at all times. The decor is traditional and comfortable.
I remember going her 6 years ago and I can remember being impressed with the place and the food they served. My wife and I had breakfast there and I was just as impressed. This place is very well taken care of and the service is top notch. The food is fantastic! I love this place and am looking forward to coming back to visit Palm Springs again.
UPDATE*** I am so VERY happy to update my review and let you know that Billy Reed’s IS the upstanding establishment I thought it was. I returned to the restaurant at 7:20 AM this morning (03/22/25) and, upon arrival, called from the car. Mr. Reed answered and was as kind, sweet and polite as I remember him being in person! 🥹 I asked if David was available and he immediately called him to the phone. I reintroduced myself to David and reminded him of our previous conversation. He not only remembered me said the gift certificate HAD been up front but after a couple of weeks passed he donated it - as he does with unclaimed gift certificates. He then came outside and immediately put $40 in my hand and said “I’m just going to give you $40 to take care of it” which was MORE than what my daughter had paid for my liver and onions and egg custard (you MUST try the EGG CUSTARD! 😮💨) that day! I never expected the offer of the gift certificate but I was totally NOT expecting what David did today and am so appreciative of the gesture! David was so personable and polite and I want EVERYONE to know that David AND Billy Reed’s are NOT just OKAY, they are AWESOME and truly worthy of a 5-⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating!! I cannot wait to dine at Billy Reed’s again with my family. Thank you and God Bless you, David!! 🥹❤️ My original review posted on 03/21/2025 after attempting to claim a promised gift certificate and in which I gave a 1-⭐️ rating: My daughter “treated” me to a liver onions breakfast on February 28th. It was my first time ordering liver and onions here but I’d been craving a dish from my youth and my daughter eyed it on the menu. We’ve eaten at Billy Reed’s previously and have NEVER had ANY complaints, however, my second piece of liver was overcooked and laden with grease. I paid it no mind and figured a simple phone call would remedy the problem. There were two vagrants outside and one was harassing patrons - including myself. I called Palm Springs PD but because it took so long we ended up picking up our takeout and had already left by the time officers were available to respond to my call. On March 1st at 8:23 AM I called and told the person who answered about my meal and she had me called a gentleman named David to the phone and said he would leave a gift certificate for me at the front desk. I told him I would claim the gift certificate within the next couple of weeks. Today is Friday, March 21st and at 5:15 PM my son and I went there so I could pick up the gift certificate. The hostess, Camille(?) made a cursory glance in the drawer and told me she saw absolutely nothing for me and said IF David HAD promised me a gift certificate it WOULD be there and I would have to call him TOMORROW. A tall, older man approached the desk and Camille asked HIM if he was aware of any gift certificate and HE said “NO.” I suggested they call David and remind him of our conversation and they both refused. I am livid. My daughter has always spent quite a bit EVERY time she has taken me to Billy Reed’s and February 28th was no different. I truly thought this was a stand-up establishment and am hurt for feeling lied to and angry that neither person I spoke to at the restaurant today made ANY effort to assist me. Since 2018 my daughter and I have celebrated our birthdays here, dined here after medical appointments, and just come to spend Mother/Daughter time. We braved the unknown and continued to patronize Billy Reed’s during Covid when customers were required to show Covid vaccine records or NOT be accommodated like the many regular patrons we observed being refused seating and turned away in anger. I would have accepted what happened today as an oversight - it HAPPENS - if I hadn’t been made to feel I was LYING. The lady even said they’ve had notes stuck on the desk for MONTHS waiting for the patron to come pick up their certificate. I am 61 years old, I have neither the desire nor the inclination to play games or LIE for liver. 🤷🏻♀️ Check your CallerID from 8:23 AM on March 1st, Billy Reed’s! Mine is the Honolulu number.
excellent service and excellent food! waitstaff was very helpful and the food was very good. the salmon caesar salad was super fresh and salmon was cooked and seasoned beautifully! chicken fried steak and burger were good. the mashed potatoes tasted instant but i like the taste so can’t complain! fish burger was a bit bland but quite tasty w a bit of added salt! soups and sides were excellent as well!
Our food was amazing but more importantly the service provided by Jackie was exceptional! Her steadfast dedication to providing an unparalleled experience was simply unmatched. Do yourself a service and ask for Jackie if you’re disappointed by your service provided by her I’ll pay your bill. Thank You so much Jackie.
Bill’s is fantastic. Found out about it from a tourist book in our hotel and I can agree that it is one of the best Pizzas in the US. It’s an unassuming truly delicious American pizza that’s not trying to be anything it is not. Bill’s sauce is balanced and flavourful. We got the Hammer and Sickle and the Bill’s Favourite as parts of a 18” pizza which was the perfect amount of food for two hungry adults. Cilantro on a pizza is genius. I can’t recommend them enough!
This place is an absolute gem! Jackie was our server, she was so adorable and attentive and provided excellent food recommendations. The cinnamon roll (its huge!!) and the biscuits and gravy were the best we've ever had. We mentioned this to Jackie and she let us know that Billy Reed still works at the restaurant every day and is such a great guy to work for. He is 82 years old and has owned this restaurant since 1975! He came to our table and chatted with us, such a sweet guy! Make sure to take a few minutes to appreciate all of the antiques throughout the space, it's absolutely stunning! This place is a must when visiting Palm Springs!
A place I keep coming back to whenever I’m in town. Huge menu, with something for everyone. Quiet enough dining room for everyone to hear the conversation. It’s not vibey at all, but if you want an old school family restaurant, this has all the hallmarks.
My first time in this place and I loved it. Will be coming back for sure. The portions are very generous, presentation was nice and the service was up to par. We had the fish and chips, the French dip sandwich and the clubhouse sandwich and og course the cheese cake with peaches. Yummy is was great! The pictures are from another visit we did.
First off the place is so beautiful! The place is just so elegant and feels like you have gone back in time. The customer service vice is excellent, we had about 3 people assistants us while we we there. There is a large menu. All items are served all day long unless stated on the menu. The good was very delicious. I would highly recommend the ribs. They slide off the bone! The only negative part was that they didn't have any peaches, so all the peach dishes were not being served right now! The prices are a bit mid, but you de get good portion sizes. If u just want to dine in a beautiful place with great good, this is the place for you!
Old style eatery in Palm Springs. Third time here (from our of town) and the food has always been delicious and plentiful. Will definitely visit next time I'm in town. This visit I had the house omelet which was great. But I've enjoyed every dish I have had here.
Billy Reed’s is delicious! I was a bit hesitant when I looked at the photos of the restaurant because it is a very traditional interior with wood paneling, crystal chandeliers, etc. My experience with restaurants like this is that they aren’t well maintained or very clean. Not the case with Billy Reed’s! It was very clean (no dust bunnies) and the staff were friendly & helpful! I agree with the other reviews! We ate there for breakfast. Our family had both savory & sweet breakfasts and they nailed it. Not my favorite interior design/atmosphere, but great breakfast!
A wonderful breakfast served with impeccable service by Denise. The server assistant never let our water or coffee cup go empty. The atmosphere was so beautiful and the real treat was getting to meet Billy himself. The omelettes were spectacular and my tuna in papaya was filled with so much fruit. I highly recommend this restaurant.
A Palm Springs legend, since 1977. It’s not going to be for everyone, especially those born in the 21st century but to those who get it, they will love it. The decor and vibe just takes you back to many previous decades of a slower pace of life and where design wasn’t so bland. Yes, the do serve food here. It’s homestyle, rich, hearty food that almost anyone will enjoy. But you are coming here for the old feel of the restaurant when things were so cookie cutter or corporate like any chain, in any city, anywhere in the country. Oh, and I hear they pour heavy.
Breakfast of champions. The menu is great, no skillets though, which is my typical breakfast go to. However the California omelet was sooo good. I loved the peppers in it, very non-traditional. Service was excellent and the owner floats around with a happy face. It's just pleasant. The bloody marys were top notch and everyone loved their food. The decor is nostalgic and the restaurant is exceptionally clean! Gotta love that. Their pecan and cinnamon rolls are divine!!
To celebrate my mom's 72nd birthday, I took her to Billy Reed's Restaurant, a spot I'd discovered online. The menu's variety and array of pies and cakes caught my attention. Upon arrival, we were charmed by the picturesque fish pond at the entrance. Inside, the hostess warmly greeted us and seated us amidst other birthday celebrations, creating a lively atmosphere. Mom opted for grilled salmon with sweet potato and veggies, while I indulged in prime rib, cooked to perfection. The ambiance was elegant, making it ideal for family gatherings or romantic evenings. The staff's friendly hospitality added to the delight. The surprise birthday song and complimentary Boston cream pie made mom's day extra special. We also took home slices of banana cream and pecan pie, both equally delicious. Overall, our first experience at Billy Reed's was truly memorable!
'Ello Chaps, Stumbled on Billy Reeds through reviews and somehow stumbled onto what is probably a landmark in Palm Springs. During our week in Palm Springs, we ended up at Billy Reed's twice. They're open all morning, all afternoon, and all night, and here's what you need to know: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner is served anytime (except where noted). There is a rustic feel throughout the restaurant, almost as if some Californians imported remnants of authentic British pubs in the 1970s, although it's not too British. You walk in and you walk back in time, but the restaurant is very clean, well kept, and comfortable. The menu, the food. It is a HUGE menu guaranteed to give even the pickiest of eaters something. Great for kids and vegetarians too. I highly recommend the pot roast and meatloaf. The Chicken Pot Pie was great, although the pastry on top did leave something to be desired. Here's what else you can tell. The food is fresh, made from scratch. Fantastic service too. I think we had someone named Janet or Janice. Overall I give Billy Reed's five stars out of five. If you're browsing reviews trying to find a spot to go -- just go.
We are frequent diners here. The food is plentiful and good. I had the pork ribs and my spouse had the chicken parmesan. The service is excellent, with every employee pitching in and helping out. All are very friendly. The prices, overall, are good.
Dinining at Billy Reed's was a surprisingly great experience! The food was very tasty and the service was lovely. We liked this place so much we decided to go back to more times on our trip. The sassy server with the nails on fleek at dinner was so hilarious. Hoping this place stays around much longer!! Hard recommend on the strawberry pie after the meal.
Fantastic service! Great atmosphere! Delicious food and more than ample choices for entrees, and sides. Large portions that you can share or take home. Lots of comfort food choices. 😋 The desserts are truly the best you can get anywhere. Beautiful just to look at. Boston Cream pie "oh my!"
With a warm, inviting, comfortably cozy, relaxing atmosphere, understated lighting, fabulously fun service, wonderful cocktails, flavorful food and generous servings, this deservedly longstanding stalwart on the flighty desert restaurant scene, is a strong survivor we'd call a favorite, definitely worth returning to next visit to Palm Springs. One minor caveat; if you're from the east coast and happen to be a New England clam chowder aficionado, don't be surprised with a hint of tangy in the Billy Reed interpretation.
This place is a class act. Attentive, courteous, all the things you want in an establishment. When I saw the bartender eating behind the bar, I knew the food was good. Our orders came out quick but expertly prepared. We are huge fans of the decor. A man sat aside us says he's been coming for 35 years and that it's the best food in the desert. I'll definitely be coming back.
Typically got for 4.6+ stars with thousands of ratings and Billy Reads fit that nicely. Had the steak and eggs with their signature sauce covered with sautéed fresh veggies. My partner had the chicken pot pie, which was HUGE. Definitely recommend coming here if you want a great atmosphere, fast service and delicious food. They also have a Koi pond!
Menu is huge and food is very good. The store itself is pretty clean and has an interesting pub-like atmosphere. I asked for my patty melt to be done on the rarer side and they delivered. Fries are nice, almost like McDonalds fries. The soup comes with a side, I picked banana nut bread which was delicious.
Such a wonderfully funky place! Quirky Victorian style interior mixed with extremely friendly and very prompt service. We were seated immediately and had our food so quickly. Generous portions, good selection. Simple and easy.
Such a fun place! It’s like traveling back in time. Billy Reed’s in Palm Springs is an absolute gem! The warm, vintage ambiance paired with their delicious comfort food makes it the perfect spot for a relaxing meal. Whether you’re a local or visiting, this restaurant truly captures the charm of Palm Springs living. As a realtor, I often recommend it to clients looking to get a feel for the area, it’s a wonderful place to experience the local culture and community. If you’re considering making Palm Springs your home, this is just one of many treasures waiting for you!
Probably among the Top Diners in America. Huge monster menu. Monster Portions. Incredible flavor. Quality ingredients. Staff filling coffee and soda faster than you could drink it. This isn't a tourist trap, its a staple for locals. If i return to Palm Springs again, the odds of me returning for first or last day lunch is 100%
Very good service. We were a party of 11 and when we phoned for a reservation, they said it wouldn't be a problem and could accommodate us. They did, and furthermore, all of our meals came out at the same time. The table was ideal for our group. The food was good, like comfort food, and reasonably priced. Nice option for Palm Springs.
I stopped by this classic Palm Springs spot and loved it. The place feels like a real throwback, beautifully decorated with old-school charm that takes you back in time. The vibe is warm and inviting, with plenty of character everywhere you look. I had the biscuits and country gravy and it was great — exactly the kind of comforting, hearty dish you expect from a place with this history. Service was friendly, portions generous, and the whole experience felt like enjoying a local tradition. Worth a visit if you’re in town and want a meal with personality.
Billy Reed’s feels like stepping into another era in the best possible way. The space is retro without being kitschy, and every corner of the restaurant feels like it’s been kept exactly as it was intended to be. It was packed when we arrived, but they were running things like a machine. We grabbed two spots at the counter to skip the wait and honestly couldn’t have planned it better. The staff had everything moving fast and with intention. The menu is massive. There’s a charm in how overwhelming it is. You get the sense that no one has tried to modernize this place, and that’s a big part of its appeal. If you’re looking for a tight curated list, this is not that. But if you want pages of hearty classics and old-school favorites, this place delivers. I ordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The portion was huge, cooked right, and came with au jus and horseradish sauce on the side. The mashed potatoes were rich and generous. My guest had the chicken piccata, also served with mash and vegetables. The sauce was buttery and had depth, not just acidity. Both plates were great but we barely finished half of either. You could easily split a meal here and still leave full. Service was friendly and fast, even with a packed house. Everyone around us seemed relaxed and taken care of. There’s a confidence in how this place runs that only comes from doing it for decades. If you’re in Palm Springs and want a place with real presence, generous food, and a tight operation, Billy Reed’s is worth your time.
Celebrated two birthdays, and a 30 year wedding anniversary. What an amazing warm place. Very welcoming. We got helped by Caesar and Thomas, they have been very hospitable, attentive. And - wow - Caesar gave my mother a chocolate bar for her birthday. This was obviously coming from him personally, and it really made my mother very touched. We got two complimentary Boston cream pies, and they have been delicious. Wish we had room to other other pies, they all looked very delicious. Unfortunately - we had no room! Highly highly recommend!
Best restaurant in all of Palm Springs! The food is phenomenal. I've had the open faced turkey sandwich, chicken pot pie, cornbread, Boston cream pie, salads and burgers. Every menu item is delicious. Atmosphere and ambiance are great too. This is just a wonderful restaurant. Try it,you will not be disappointed.
We decided to go to Billy Reed’s as part of our holiday visit to Palm Springs on the recommendation of a friend, and it absolutely did not disappoint. The best way I can describe it is an old-school 1970s steakhouse meets upscale diner—in the best possible way. The decor is authentic, not kitschy, with strong 1970s–80s vibes throughout. We sat in an area with counter seating, but everything still felt elevated and classic, very much like a traditional steakhouse. The waiters were dressed old school, adding to the atmosphere, and the whole experience felt genuine and unpretentious. All meals come with a salad and your choice of side, which is a nice touch. My husband ordered the Thanksgiving turkey platter, which was very generous in size, and started with a cup of navy bean soup. I had a salad with homemade blue cheese dressing (excellent), followed by the meatloaf and a baked potato. The meatloaf was really good—though a bit small for the price point—and you get a choice of brown gravy or tomato sauce. I went with the tomato sauce and loved it. Each dinner also comes with a warm mini loaf of bread. My husband chose the banana nut bread, and I chose the date nut bread. Both were tasty, but I preferred the banana nut while he favored the date nut. Billy Reed’s is known for its steaks, though neither of us ordered one this time since we’d been eating a lot of beef. Still, I’d highly recommend this place if you’re looking for something truly old-school Palm Springs. It’s a lovely, relaxed dining experience that feels timeless. Bonus points for history—this restaurant has been open since December of 1975. Overall, a memorable meal in a warm, authentic, non-pretentious setting. Highly recommend.
We had brunch at Billy Reed’s today, and while the atmosphere and food were excellent, what truly made the experience stand out was our waitress, Kathy. She was exceptional in every sense—warm, kind, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. Her professionalism and thoughtful service made us feel welcomed and well cared for from start to finish, without ever being intrusive. Kathy’s demeanor and attention to detail elevated the entire meal and turned a great brunch into a memorable experience. She is a true asset to the restaurant, and we look forward to returning because of her outstanding service.
Such a cool vintage-style restaurant! Every detail — the lamps, paintings, little decorations — feels so thoughtful. The warm red lighting makes the whole place feel cozy, like you’re sipping hot tea for your soul. Heard it’s been around for 50 years, and you can totally feel that old-school charm. The staff were super friendly, and my salmon was cooked perfectly — the sauce in the rice was so good and made it extra tasty.
Stopped at Billy’s on our way back to LA and we were starving — the food totally hit the spot! The place has a very old-school, authentic vibe and it’s surprisingly spacious. Our waitress was super helpful in recommending popular dishes, so I went with Billy’s fried steak. It was absolutely delicious — the gravy was top-notch. Really enjoyed our meal. Highly recommend!
First time here. Old motif, but cute. Staff was professional courteous and friendly. Decent variety of food, with all menu items (breakfast, lunch and dinner) available at all times. Service was quick and efficient. Overall the food was good. Came to the table quickly and tasted good
I thought the food here was wonderful! I have been to a lot of restaurants around here, but have never been to Billy Reed’s, and I will definitely come again. The only downside I am putting here is the dryness of the cinnamon roll, but the second one we got for the table was insane! Really good:)
Billy Reed's is a home style American fare restaurant. It doesn't try to pretend to be something it isn't. The menu is full of comfort food options. The clam chowder was thick and tasty... though I found myself adding a good bit of pepper... which is a personal taste preference. The meatloaf was tasty, had a nice texture and was a generous portion. The gravy also had a great flavour that paired well with the meatloaf and the large portion of mashed potatoes which were really nice. The corn bread is on the sweet side and is moist and served with soft butter. The French dip has a nice portion of beef in a French loaf and a nice au jus. Their garlic bread must be good as a friend went through two portions of it. Onto dessert... Their carrot cake tastes like my mother's and is moist. The Boston Cream Pie was seriously large and well flavoured. The chocolate cake is among the best I have tried. The German chocolate cake is full of coconut and really nicely made. If you are in Palm Springs, make the decision to eat here at least once. I'll be back on my next visit for sure.
I have been coming to Palm Springs dozens and dozens of times since the 1970's and this was the first time visiting Billy Reed's. Can't believe I've been missing out all these years. 6 of us ate Sunday brunch here for the first time. This is truly a place where all can gather, from the biker gang in town to families with babies in strollers. We got a round table, and the noise level allowed for easy conversation. Everyone was happy with their meals from the omelettes to steak and eggs to pancakes. One of the servers even surprised us with a huge slice of strawberry cake left over from a grandma's birthday celebration. Bonus! The server was exceptionally kind and attentive. The busboys slipped in and out caring for the cleanliness of our table. We even got a few to go boxes for the generous portions. We will definitely be coming back.
Had great time here while visiting Palm Springs during memorial weekend. Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant and how vintage it looks. Food was delicious and really hot (temperature wise). We stared with clam chowder which was so creamy thick and tasty. Then we were served our warm corn toast and date toast. Our main dish was the country fried stake which was one of the best if ever had. We got mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes as sides, really liked them. Highly recommend giving them a try and absolutely going back.
Wow! I mean wow wow!! A beautiful restaurant with a sort of Old West Fancy Place interior. Lovely. I was there for lunch. very popular place but we were seated within 10 minutes. Wonderful menu ranging from salads to cost burgers to Americana dishes such as roast beef. Our server was competent, welcoming and efficient. I don't know who manages the kitchen but we got our delicious food in no time. Adult beverages are available. Nice spacious parking lot. If you are gonna visit Palm Springs this restaurant needs to be part of your dining experience.
It’s a perfectly held time capsule. Not just the atmosphere, but the food as well. Good old fashioned preparation and quality. The hamburger is made from ground chuck steak. The club is a char grilled chicken breast instead of some out of the wrapper “lunch meat”. Got the King Bacon Cheeseburger & The Club. Finished with the Carrot Cake. Pepsi & Diet Pepsi.
Billy Reed's is a great place to grab a wonderful meal at a reasonable price. This place has been here since 1975 and is a staple in the Palm springs community! We had two eggs over easy hash browns and rye bread toast. The coffee was hot and wonderful. The decor is classic 1975 but updated clean and sharp. We definitely will be back!
My wife and I recently dined at Billy Reed's in Palm Springs, and we had a fantastic experience that deserves a 5-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff, who made us feel right at home. We ordered the pork chops and jerky chicken, both of which were delicious. The portion sizes were quite generous, which is great if you have a big appetite or want to share. For dessert, we tried the crack cake, and it was a nice treat to finish off our meal. The environment of the restaurant was clean and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere for dinner. The service was attentive and efficient, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our visit. We also appreciated the non-alcoholic drink options available, making it an inclusive choice for everyone. Overall, my wife and I really enjoyed our time at Billy Reed's and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great dining experience in Palm Springs. Sources

Our favorite breakfast spot for many years. Great food and awesome staff. Very affordable and the koi pond out front is a great touch.
Cool vibe, great service and good food. The veggie burger was great and the Boston cream pie was outstanding!
What can you say anything bad of this place??? Absolutely nothing! I always love their prime rib dinner & cornbread. However, I just recently discovered their split pea soup which is amazing!!! I…
The best. Got breakfast for lunch and a veggie burger with onion rings and their ranch dressing. We were in heaven. The atmosphere. The food. So great and classic.

Food and service was good. Also the atmosphere. The waiters were very attentive to all our needs. We'll come again soon.
My parents have been coming to here for years and I finally tried it. The ribeye was so soft and easy to cut my fiancé got the jumbo burger, and that was very tasty as well. Great, friendly service…
I found a business card right now and I was wondering if Billy Reed's is still open .... Haven't been to Billy's in years. They had the best prime rib fish you name it. It was delicious.
I love the chicken piccata here. Mashed potatoes, zucchini, and comes with a dinner salad, blue cheese dressing. And a piece of garlic toast.......it never disappoints A+++

We had breakfast here and definitely will return. The ambiance is good and service was great. The menu contains many options, the food is good quality and well prepared.
Very extensive menu. We went for appetizers and drinks. Not disappointed. I did think about getting more to eat but did stick to the plan. I would go back if I am in area.
We went here initially because we didn't want to wait in the 99 degree heat for other places. But what a surprise! Not only is it full of character - from the 70s - we had great service and food. …
This was a great find, the food was good. The service was great, fantastic even. The decor of the interior was a nice change from the typical places, real wood and antiques. Very clean and ample parking. This place has a lot of room too. Extensive menu for adults and kids alike...and the dessert menu OMG. Will definitely be coming back...if you're lucky enough to go during peach season try some of the fresh peach dessert options.
Very cool and old school proper restaurant!! Amidst like a dinner but much more distinctive distinguish. Some like a lot of people are the their regular clients. Very reasonable prices (consternation where the prices have gone these days) at these times. Service is simple, pleasant and consistently good.
COMFORT FOOD! Been here about 10 times in the past year since moving to CV. Going to Billy Reeds is like going to your grandmas for Sunday dinner, if you are lucky enough to have such a grandma. The menu is a very traditional selection of old American standbys... pork chops, meatloaf, pot roast, chicken dishes and some seafood options. Prime rib and steaks, filet mignon and ribeyes, but these are probably not their strong suit. Sadly fried chicken has been taken off the menu; they say they couldn't find suitable quality chicken at this date. In the south this would be similar to what we call a "meat and three"... a meat selection and 3 vegetables of your choice. But they serve the veggie of the day, salads or soup and choice of a bread... corn bread (it's ok), date nut bread, banana nut or garlic toast. Several soups to choose from. Lunch is all kinds of sandwiches and burgers. The burgers are huge. And a full breakfast selection for the AM. It's all filling and satisfying, as the portions are huge and I feel like I've had something as close to home cooking as you can really find outside your own kitchen. The desserts! You'll just have to go! Service is always attentive and friendly. They all wear matching server outfits. It really reminds me of an old school restaurant institution, which is really what this is in north Palm Springs. The atmosphere is old Italian mafia hangout mixed with a bit of 1800s brothel and old San Francisco pub. I wouldn't change a single thing about the interior, ever! Except maybe the carpet every few years as needed. But it's certainly as clean as my grandmas always was. When your tired of pizza or tacos, head over to Billy Reeds and have some real comfort food that will take you back in time. I love it!!!
Our first time there. I thought it was a fun place. Very roomy and a Disneyland type atmosphere. The food was good and plentiful. We'll be back!
BR's is walk-in only. Seated right away. Served right away. Checked out right away. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner all in one week. The pies & cakes are wonderful and for sale to go. I met Billy at breakfast. After 50 years of continuous operation he is selling the restaurant. He said the insurance company made him stop having live music & dancing. That's sad. He also complained that California regulations make running a business difficult. Go to Billy Reed's now. Soon it will be under new ownership.
Ok. So this is the type of country club-ish the restaurants your grandparents would have gone to on special occasions. It has the bizzaro feel of a place that would have been super high end in the Kate 70's early 80's. The food was good, the service was good, the atmosphere was just...... weird. Maybe it's just me. Worth going to, a little overpriced but.....you be the judge.
Food is great! Been here a handful of times. I find SOME items overpriced and others at a bargain. My biggest issue is the service, very inconsistent. One time it's amazing, another time it's alright and then we have bad. Our server which I am only going by the receipt because she never told us was "Lupita" she was not welcoming and seemed to have an attitude from the get go. It's very unfortunate because we are not going to McDonald's, there is an expectation of service which was not met. She never came around to offer refills we had to ask, she didn't come and check on us in general. The manager woman could probably use quality control with her staff to ensure they are doing their job. All I saw her doing was looking around the restaurant. We overall likely spent over $300 here. So yeah that's my opinion. Will return because the food is worth it.

Typical breakfast here. coffee in our cups never got to the bottom, someone was always filling you up. Service was good.
Really top drawer atmosphere and solid food. Been here many times. The chicken salad, Rueben sandwiches and the split pea soup are really good.
An okay restaurant. Won’t say it’s the best or the worst. The restaurant looked interesting and old fashion. Why are all the burgers in Palm Springs thick? We ordered a burger, chicken parmigiana, ribs, fried chicken, salads and soups. The soups were okay. They had like 5 different kind! If you get a dinner portion a soup or salad comes with it including a dinner role or cornbread. The fried chicken was good.
It's exactly the same before it was sold a few months ago. The menu has changed about 10% and they still offer breakfast lunch or dinner served all day. However, the prices have gone up...on everything. Expect to pay $32 to $55+ for a dinner entree. The service was good, the food was good, the atmosphere is still dark and kinda like going to grandma's house for a meal.
This is an experience. There are better options for dining in the city, but the atmosphere is pretty cool. It is still worth going. It is a glimpse into what was cool probably before you were born. If you eat here, it's a Prime Rib place. The breakfast is about as good as a Denny's. However, this is a time capsule. I promise you should still check it out, but don't expect the best meal you will have in Palm Springs.

I wish I could give zero stars. Our dining experience was completely ruined by our server, Nestor. The moment he approached our table, the overwhelming smell of stale cigarettes was incredibly off-putting – he genuinely smelled like an ashtray. Throughout our meal, Nestor was utterly inattentive. He never checked on us, our drinks remained empty, and we were completely ignored. He passed by our table multiple times without even a glance, let alone offering refills or asking if we needed anything. To add insult to injury, after we finished eating, he simply disappeared, leaving us waiting an absurdly long time to pay. If you value decent service and don't want to feel like you're dining in a smoky bar, do yourself a favor and specifically request not to be seated in Nestor's section.
This restaurant needs improvement. I wanted to love the 70’s decor and vibes, but it just felt old and stale. The 5-star reviews were misleading and did not reflect our meal. My boyfriend had the clam chowder which had flavor and was okay. The cornbread that came with it was the best part of our dinner. My boyfriend was excited to try their famous chicken pot pie, but was disappointed when he found a long black hair baked in with the filling. When he brought it to the waiter’s attention, he went in for a closer look and said “we can get you another one” while taking the plate back. No apology for the mistake. My boyfriend and I both ended up ordering the turkey burger which was drenched in BBQ sauce to cover its lack of flavor. I wanted to love this decades-old Palm Springs institution, but it missed the mark entirely.
The food here is truly mediocre. I ordered crab cakes and instead received mushy crab pancakes. The rest of our party seemed to fare a little better but nothing was good enough to deserve a second visit. I will say the service was good, attentive. The high reviews for this place are a mystery to me.
