Came in for lunch. The dining area was very nice but their restrooms looked like it can use a remodel but functional. It had a nice bar area and decor was nice. The food was so good i definitely will come back again. I had the pineapple chicken and shrimp fried rice. Next time i will order the pad thai. The portions are big enough to share. The cost is pricey for lunch but sooooo good.
This restaurant is absolutely one of my favorites in all of Paso Robles! The food is delicious in every way! Even my picky eater finds incredible dishes that he loves! It is the perfect date night with a beautiful and comfortable atmosphere! It is also a fantastic lunch or family dinner out! It hits all the spots and I can’t speak highly enough of them! Everyone is very find as well going above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and enjoy yourself!
The food was so fresh and tasty. We ordered some noodles and they came with a lot of yummy beef and great flavor. We also ordered a chicken dish that was amazing. The spring rolls also didn't disappoint. Would highly recommend it for fresh food and great service.
I love coming here every time I visit Paso. Really delicious authentic Thai food, with fabulous service right off the town square. The sampler is wonderful with a little taste of several appetizers - the satay chicken and fresh rolls are my favorites. I also ordered the shrimp salad which was very refreshing on a hot day. Highly recommended 😊
My favorite restaurant in downtown Paso hands down. It's super cozy, and the service is always spot on and friendly. The food is incredibly consistent, and I have never had a bad meal here. Their spicy fried rice has more flavor than fried rice I've had at any other Thai restaurant. Do yourself a favor and give it a go.
Service is great 5 stars. Food is very filling and you will want to walk it off or have a nice glass of wine in the area. Medium heat is equivalent to a spicy jalapeno pepper. We had the panang curry and the Thai peanut beef. Both were decent and had flavor, I am used to Thai food with a little more bold flavor but I was not disappointed. Great ambience and the music in the background was calming.
Absolutely amazing every single time. From the service to the food and the general atmosphere its all great. Ive gone twice this week and will go again in a few days when my dad comes to visit. One negative though, the ice cream desserts are so good you just have to force yourself to stop eating your dinner to save room for dessert! 😂💖💖💖
I absolutely love this place. I was quite surprised to find a Thai place in Paso, let alone one as good as this. The flavor in their dishes is exquisite. The customer service is professional and friendly. And most importantly, to me, they really know how to kick up the spice!
Best pad-kee-mao I have ever had. Spice level was just right qnd the food was fresh and tasty.
We had a great meal and the service was fantastic. The pineapple fried rice was delicious and the coconut crème brûlée was equally as good. The presentation of both was unique and added to it being a memorable meal.
Delicious Thai Cuisine, Lovely Environment. PROS: The food was excellent and served in very aesthetically-pleasing ways. The staff and service was great; they were helpful, accommodating to a changing reservation, and treated us well/attentively the entire time. The place was busy, but we never waited long for anything. And the overall atmosphere is nice, given the decor and arrangement. CONS: It was busy (Mother's Day/Sunday), so it was perhaps hard to hear over the volume of other voices at times - but not enough to sway from eating at the establishment. ((Two Thumbs Up)).
Incredible atmosphere and great service, got seated fast and got our order in quick. All the food came out at relatively the same time and it was all really good. We had the Thai sampler and every item on there was good! I ordered the Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles) and the spice level was great, flavor was there, but maybe the chicken was a little dry. Overall satisfied with what I got but, it is on the more expensive side for most main entrees compared to $10-20 range of other spots; this place is $15-25
Freaking awesome Thai food. This place is very very clean. The food has that spicy Thai taste you look forward to in dining on excellent Thai food. It's also located downtown Paso right at the park. Parking can be a pain but the food is worth the drive and parking space search or wait. If you enjoy Thai food look no further. Staff here are also very friendly and on time without having to ask for water or soy sauce or whatevs you need. The menu is also very simplified which makes ordering quick and easy. Check it out if your in the north county.
Delicious, colorful well prepared Thai food. Good variety ,reasonably prices, large portions. Dine in a semi dark, very imaginative, artfully done dinning room. Service very helpful and attentive. I enjoyed their lunch special of butter lettuce, shrimp cups, and flavorful Thai ice tea.
The food is so good. I can’t believe I can find such excellent Thai food in Paso Robles. They are more than happy to swap a beer for me when a fly accidentally landed in my drink. The staffs are very friendly.
I LOVE this restaurant. I go here every time I’m in Paso. They have fantastic vegetarian/vegan and non-vegetarian options. The tofu satay in the appetizers is my favorite dish! The entrees are all delicious and good portions, usually worth 2 meals for me. Only downside is parking in the whole square can be difficult, especially on weekends, walk or lyft if you can. That said I’ve always found a spot within a few blocks, you just may have to circle for a bit.
Appreciated all the vegan/vegetarian options! My friend and I had no shortage of possibilities here and the Thai sampler was able to be adapted to be vegan. The decor was nice and we got to actually sit next to the open window. All-around a great experience and thoughtful service!
I have been enjoying Basil for years. I have also been meaning to write a review for years- they have been so good for so long! Their food is fresh, clean and the flavors really pop. They do a great job with spice level requests and the kitchen always sends out delicious food quickly and hot! They also have vegetarian and vegan options so that helps when I hang out with my veggie-loving friends.
Had lunch at Basil Thai restaurant yesterday and really enjoyed it. I began with the fresh rolls which were tasty and finished with the sweet basil chicken which was unusual and something I had not had before. I would definitely order it again.

Excellent yellow curry tofu and chicken. Our server was delightful and it’s a beautiful atmosphere.. A bit pricey at $24 each
By far the best Thai food around. Always amazing service and beautiful inside. We can't wait to go back

Located opposite to a park in downtown, which helps family with kids could spend more time after or before lunch ... Food over is really delicious... 5-10 min wait time Pleasent Atmosphere Friendly staff Parking might be difficult during busy hours I would suggest anyone to try Thai Ice Coffee here...
Loved the food and atmosphere. Good variety for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Loved the dessert menu as well!
I liked the food here although seemed not enough staff at times. I had the shrimp prawns with garlic entree. It was very good. Didn't like the brown rice in bowl served as it was flavorless. Good location and been here before. Suggest having front person at all times to greet and seat patrons.
Great Thai restaurant right next to the downtown park. We got here just before the rush, otherwise maybe be prepared for a wait. Standard Thai dishes, with some specials. Service is very friendly though food was slow to arrive (kitchen seems to be slammed). All the dishes were a bit sweeter than I'm used to, but I think it's just a different flavor profile. Highlight incide the pepper & garlic (we got it with pork), and the coconut rice. Pineapple fried rice arrived at the end and was tasty, and will make a nice leftover fish this week. Very good Thai food, right in the heart of downtown Paso Robles.
We stopped at Basil Thai for a quick lunch stop. The food was very good, we had the drunken noodles, tom kha soup, crispy basil chicken, pineapple fried rice, Siamese fried rice, iced tea. Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was quick, mindful and polite. The women's bathroom was alright. The stall that was clean was very tight in terms of space, the door touches your knee as you sit and I'm only 5'2" 🤷
Really delicious food with good vegetarian options. Friendly and attentive service. A little pricey
Great service, fantastic food! I had the banana leaf wrapped salmon and my husband had the lamb special. Both were delicious! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that they charged a corkage fee even though we asked ahead of time if they honored the local practice of not charging corkage for local wines. I assumed they honored the practice, when the manager came over and opened our wine without comment.
Clean inside and Bathroom had a Lysol can which is always a good sign. The food was great, white meat chicken. The Tom Yum seafood soup had alot of seafood. The staff needs to check in with clients waiting to be seated. Once seated the waiter was very fast (good thing when your hungry). The waitress was constantly checking with is..great customer service.
Nice Thai food restaurant. Staff were pleasant and friendly. We ordered the shrimp dumplings, Panang curry with chicken and Green curry with chicken. The flavors were typical for a a Thai restaurant and appropriately spiced consistent with our request. The place got busy and we were handed our check and told there was no hurry but we were not asked if we wanted dessert. Overall a good meal.
Dinner was good but not great. Flavors were muted like the kitchen staff is forced to cater to sensitive taste buds instead of making the dishes the way they are meant to taste. People who eat Thai love flavor and spice, this place has to step it up. Atmosphere is nice and staffi is attentive and friendly. Prices are a bit on the high side, but that must be related to high rent because of the prime location across the park. Overall I give them a good review but I've had better tasting Thai in several other places. I had a tall 805, Panang Curry w/beef & extra rice $31.25!
Nice place for Thai food. Service was not so great. The waitress just get your order and drop off food. They don't even refill drinks or ask if you're okay. The food is good, not very traditional.

Would be 4 stars but the $19 Salad was very small. Was told that it was large prior to ordering but they seemed very cheap and low quantity of greens or lettuce . Everything else was good but I thought all the portions were small based on what they charged but I guess it’s a fancy wine country town and they feel obligated to do that.
We got to this place last minute, they were nice to accommodate our big group, the service and attitude of the server was great but the food was very average, it lacked the flavor , the very basic mango salad was made out of literally raw mangoes , with too much cabbage,it was so bad , the rest of the food was the same . Definitely not going back ……
Great service and nice decor, but the food is barely decent -- a little disappointed. We tried sizzling seafood, pad see ew, tom kah soup and the platter.

Nice place, reasonably clean, good service. The food however is not good. Ordered Panang Curry, Yellow Curry, Fresh Spring Rolls and Fried Rice. The fresh rolls were mostly iceberg lettuce, the curry was water consistency, and the fried rice was greasy. The Panang Curry had three pieces of chicken in the whole bowl and the vegetables appeared to be frozen. For the price that was paid it was quite disappointing. I didn't expect Thai food similar to what we eat in Thailand, but the food was not even close to authentic Thai.
We got two basic takeout entrees and were really underwhelmed at the quality and quantity especially for more than $50. Of course the area is expensive but this felt like a real gouge. Togo boxes were medium sized and about half full with a side of dry rice. Skip it.
I've been to Thailand and often find myself missing the food so much. When we seen this place, I was excited and looking for to what they had to offer. I ordered the pad Thai because you really can't mess that up. I didn't expect it to taste just like Thailand but at least have the taste. The food was just okay and the service gave the feeling like we needed to eat and leave. We haven't gone back.
Nasty. The Tom Yum soup tastes like hot garbage. Like someone heated up the gross liquid that can be at the bottom of your trash can if there is a hole in the bag. Some of the worst that I have had. Not to mention extremely overpriced. If you want good Thai food in Paso Robles go to Thai Classic. I am so disappointed and feel ripped off. Never again. 0/10 would not recommend.
Pad Woonsen is too sweet! Service is not too good as well.
Disappointed and disgusted. Fecal matter in the shrimp, not cleaned properly. Expensive, gross food. Save your money and time and go elsewhere. People who give this place 4 stars clearly never had real Thai food.
With peace and love, this is not authentic Thai cuisine at all. Disappointed in the taste of everything we ordered: shrimp red curry, pineapple fried rice, and chili basil stir fry. The red curry was carrot sweet. There’s no taste or scent of coconut. The pineapple fried rice had too much turmeric and tasted more like Indian cuisine—-and it had two random cherry tomatoes that did nothing for improving the taste. The chili basil stir fry was the closest dish to being authentic, and close is still miles away. Basil is in the name of the dish - two small sprigs doesn’t justify calling it chili basil. Worst is the price we paid for this: $67! Maybe that’s why they decided to throw in….a small crumpled bag of Lay’s Wavy Potato Chips…could it be any more random? Nice customer service, but not enough to make up for the disappointing food and price.
This was my $29 Thom Kha shrimp soup. You have to be kidding me. It wasn't even very good. How dare you charge someone almost $30 to be delivered this "cup" of hardly anything? Shame on you Basil. You used to be a good restaurant. What happened??
This food was terrible. It had so many chili pepper skins that I had to pick them out. I tried to eat it for 2 days and I just couldn’t. The rice was over cooked. The shrimp had no flavor or seasoning. I don’t know how they could mess this up. 3 platters costing almost $80 and it was definitely not worth it. They should be ashamed.
Update from my original post: 12/1/25 new cook in the kitchen😫 not as authentic and not as good as it always was. Big bummer. Going from 5 to 1 stars. This has got to be the best thai food in the central coast! I know it’s better than anything you find in the Monterey Bay area. Keep it authentic!! Great food, flavors and quality.
