Dined here on trip for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. The vibe was just upscale enough for our special day and also felt like home. Our meals were phenomenal. As a vegan my options were limited as is typical. However, my meal was creative, thoughtful and delicious. Not the standard vegan options. My husband had the fish du jour and is still raving about it. The service was friendly, prompt but not rushed, and attentive. Truly a memorable 10/10 experience.
Absolutely stunning experience! The outdoor seating is cozy, yet sophisticated and modern at the same time. The food is to die for, the drinks are amazing, and the service is outstanding. 10/10 will be back and would highly recommend!
Went there for my sister birthday, we had a really great time here. The food was really good and the people who came here seem really easy going and fun loving. The burger was definitely cooked medium and it was delicious. All four of the meals were exquisite. I then ordered the Peach Cobbler for dessert - generous portion and it was really good. The food was great, a wonderful atmosphere and reasonably priced. The owners were also very pleasant and friendly which is, of course, really nice and made the experience much more charming. Definitely a place I would go for a solid experience with friends and family.
Love this place! Third time visiting and consistently amazing food and service. The standouts are the fried oysters, shrimp stuffed dates and favorite noodles! We sat at the bar, easy to walk in if you get there early.
I absolutely loved our experience here! It exceeded 5 stars. Why? Workers enjoy working there and it shows in all they deliver. In fact we walked out of another place who had yet another bad hostess. I don't understand restaurants who put so much into their establishments and have a below par greeter. Oh I digress. Anyway, just a great staff. We were greeted at the door, were told it was a 15 minute wait, and within 5 minutes the host told us he would arrange setting the table for us. Then a minute later, let me sit these people and I will set your table. And the menu was amazing. I appreciated a smaller menu that rocked it. And then there is the food. Out of the park! Pimento cheese that they made better than anywhere with chips that I think were made from lavash. It was stellar. And then there was my wife's wild caught Salmon prepared perfectly with its lightness. Not dense like we mostly get. And for me it was the seafood sampler. I swear the chef went out back and caught and prepared it. It was better than any local seafood restaurants. Absolutely fresh Grouper, shrimp, scallops, and oysters! So fresh, light, and new oil. Then the grits. This place rocked my world and I will be back again, again, again and again. The chef is my hero, whomever you are! Ps. The drink, cucumber water, bubbly, and gin was amazing 🤩 !
The Chive Blossom is a required stop on our annual visit to Pawley's. It never disappoints! This time I tried the Okra Pancake. So much flavor!! Highly recommend!!
The food and service was amazing! Definitely try the Asian noodles, they have the best peanut sauce and the fried green napoleon tower was excellent. The gentlemen that brought our waters out deserves a shout out. I've never been so entertained just receiving my drinks.
Lively atmosphere and efficient service compliment the cuisine , started with the fried green tomato napoleon, the pepper jelly sauce was great. The grouper was the star of the entrees at the table, the panko added just enough texture to elevate the dish. Snapper was the special with rice cauliflower, a little one note, but still good. Finished with one of the best brownies Ala mode. Bravo !
The drinks were delicious and the food was incredible. Table service was top notch. It’s such great food in a casual atmosphere. 1st trip to LB and we may start coming to this beach just to eat at this place again.
I'm writing this as I'm finishing my meal. I'm at a loss for words. Delicious doesn't do justice to what I had. Hands down the best meal I have ever had. The service was fantastic as well. 5 stars and we can't wait to eat here again!
Absolutely incredible dining experience with the biggest drink and wine and beer menu, delicious food, great atmosphere, and excellent service.
Had a lovely lunch here! The she crab was super rich, and the tomato basil pie was amazing. Be forewarned that their tea is on the lighter side, and that the ahi tuna salad sandwich is very much like a traditional tuna salad.
The restaurant has been recently remodeled and looks great and feels cozy. We ordered Housemade Pimento Cheese served with crisp lavash chips for our starter ($14), and off the lunch menu we ordered Ahi Tuna Salad sandwich ($18), and Crustless Quiche ($17). All three items were excellent, and the ahi tuna had a perfect combination of artichokes, sundried tomatoes, kalamata olives, capers, fresh herbs, lemon olive oil. My only criticism would be to maybe serve a half sandwich for the lunch menu because it was honestly a lot of food compared to the quiche portion. I’d also recommend paying for Spotify because it’s kind of weird to hear Spotify commercials (or whatever the streaming service was) while dining. Can’t wait to come back and try out more of the menu!
Best meal we've had in South Carolina. She crab soup, jalapeno cucumber cooler, watermelon salad and pound cake. Divine!
Always a pleasure visiting Chive Blossom. This was my 2nd visit and I will be back. The food, atmosphere and service were top notch both times. It has easily become one of my local faves! Keep up the good work team! This trip i enjoyed the Fried Oyster Salad. I held the red onions and man oh man was it full of flavor.
We’ve eaten at Chive Blossom on beach vacations to the area but have never had service as exceptional as we did last Friday night! Tyson was his name and his kindness, charm, and prompt attention were first rate! He also spoke of how grateful he was to be working at such a great restaurant with really special folks. Don’t miss this treat-make a reservation and enjoy some of the best seafood in the area.
Sophistication on the menu is combined with down home quality food to offer a fine dining experience in a pleasant peaceful setting . It's only perfect! Don't miss this place when in Pawley's Island.
Food was amazing. Server was Tyson, one of the best servers I’ve had in a very long time. Very efficient and knowledgeable of the menu. Will 100 percent be back
Fried oysters are delicious. Crab slaw and watermelon salad were super fresh. Visited here 2 nights, including our final night of our vacation. Karen is a sweetheart!
We love this gem! The atmosphere is great and the chef…. Can’t say enough! The quality of the food is amazing.
Love eating at this gem in Pawley’s Island. They have the best she-crab soup I’ve ever had! Sometimes I’ll have one of the specials but my go-to is the crab slaw!
The restaurant has a beautiful setting for a romantic and delicious dinner. Sit outside around the beautiful southern oak trees with moss.
Adorable little spot where you can dine inside or the more open area (Partially covered) next to the main building. Inside bar was tight. Creative cocktail 🍹 and good wine list. Food was great quality, had a little trouble deciding but fresh fish gets me every time! They had a fresh mahi sandwich 🥪 which was delish.
Great experience with our party of 12. Amazing waiter Tyson and the food was incredible. Lots of votes for the Halibut dish. I had the fried seafood sampler platter and it was incredible. Will be trying to make our way back here next summer next time we’re at Pawleys!
First time visiting and Cordelia took great care of us. We listened to her suggestions and ordered the Fried Green Tomatoe Sandwich and warm Blueberry Cobbler with vanilla ice cream. We were thrilled!
Perfect weather for outdoor dining under a canopy of old oaks. Seafood selection is outstanding and fresh veggies really standout. Excellent dessert too. Loved the pound cake with coconut ice cream and banana foster sauce
Yum. Ok. Inside is a little cold and outside is beautiful under the trees. Lots of fans outside so it’s nice even on a warm day. Bring a coverup for inside or enjoy the chill. Save room for dessert!!
Chive Blossom remains my favorite restaurant in Pawleys Island area. Excellent food and very creative dishes. The servers are knowledgeable and very friendly. It can get noisy at times but it's a very minor issue.
We dined here with my parents and our one year old son. We received excellent service from Kim, who answered all of our questions, accommodated a shellfish allergy, and even helped us accomplish our mission to serve our son 101 foods before age 1 by tracking down a small dish of chicken liver pate for him. Delicious food, cozy ambience, and extensive wine and cocktail list. We were lucky to be squeezed in on a rainy evening, but I recommend making a reservation so you don’t miss out!
Food is always great here! Service is also good, but they can get very busy, so sometimes the kitchen is a little on the slower side. The flounder with okra pancakes is my absolute favorite dish, but I have tried other dishes and never had a bad meal. Honorable mentions for the crab cakes, the shrimp penne, and fish of the day.
I’ve wanted to go for years when I was at Pawleys. But reservations are a must. Really tasty and creative food. It’s small and oh so good. Unlike dinner the other night, no Yankees. Ahem, I mean, lots of local folks who know THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!
Absolutely amazing! The fried green tomato Neapolitan appetizer was out of this world, the cran gin fizz was phenomenal, and the shrimp and scallops was a bountiful portion. Sad we didn’t have room for dessert.
We stopped in for lunch. The waiter was great. Gave very good suggestions. The food was great 👍 no
Had the most amazing lunch with my girlfriends today! 🍔 I enjoyed the BEST burger I’ve ever had and the lemon drop martinis were absolutely to die for. 🍋 The company was perfect, and our wonderful waitress, Cornella, made the experience even better with her warm personality and excellent service. Can’t wait to come back!
Quaint very comfortable restaurant. Food and drinks were great. Try the shecrab soup which was superb. Service was great. Pricing is as expected for this area. Would return on next trip.
Ava is a wonderful waiter. The she crab soup was the best I have had. The first taste seemed slightly salty, however after that I picked up the sherry and prominently crab flavor. The texture was perfection. The mixed seafood platter consisted of extremely fresh fish and seafood. I might have preferred a choice of broiled in addition to the breaded and fried selection. The tartar sauce was exceptional, love the dill. One or two pieces were very slightly overcooked, but not too much.
We had a group of 12 on an in-season Saturday night. This was the only place nearby or villa that would seat us. Great covered outdoor dining, they also have indoor seating. Our waitress was great, but the handheld system they use seems to take longer. One glitch was, I ordered the Watermelon Salad, wanted to add a crab cake, which was listed as a protein. Pretty sure our waitress entered it wrong because I got a salad, and the crab cake entree. More than double the cost of what it should be. Honestly though, the best crab cake I have had, all crab, hardly any filler.
Highly recommend the she crab soup, among the best I've ever had, and the bowl is big and reasonably priced. Worth returning for. The decor is charming, a beach-chic atmosphere, friendly to conversation and relaxation. Only complaint was front desk staff teenagers who had no idea that their job was to greet and seat people or even smile. But fortunately the waitress was a professional and did a great job.
Met a friend for lunch today at 11:30 and it was not crowded. It’s off season too. I ordered the Italian sandwich which was roast beef, melted cheese (maybe provolone and melted cheese?) and sautéed onions on focaccia bread on a side salad. I have not eaten there in 5 years so the decor did change for the better. My complaint was that the roast beef was deli meat and there hardly any meat big roll for $18.00. $8 glass of iced tea and a $12 dessert…….brownie with a scoop of ice cream. Cup of she crab but ridiculously overpriced. We had to ask our server (older gentleman) for milk and sugar for our tea which was strange. My friend ordered the crab quiche and she said she would not order that again. Very popular place but not a good value. I have no photos to share. Not going back
We celebrated a birthday here and it was so nice. The atmosphere was so cozy and calming. Service was wonderful. Food was great, my mom loved the crab cake dinner. It did get a little loud at times because of the size of the restaurant but overall a really good time.
Pros: Delicious food in a wonderful outdoor patio ambience. Crab cakes are fabulous. Cons: Slow. We were there nearly 30 minutes before we received our cocktails and an hour before we had food. For $38 my daughter's shrimp and scallops were served on a bed of cool, congealed grits. Did not feel catered to in a way that fit the price point.
OK, but not overly impressed. We made indoor reservations not knowing that we would be seated immediately next to the open kitchen. Our table had the atmosphere of eating in the kitchen, with servers and cooks shouting orders back and forth right next to us. If you reserve an indoor seat - request the front room. They also have outdoor seating in an adjacent building. The food was bistro style. Each item included many ingredients and flavors. My girlfriend had the watermelon salad, which she enjoyed. I had the crab salad, which was good, but had less crab meat than I anticipated for $22. For Our dinner, my girlfriend had the crab cakes, which came with lobster mashed potatoes. She was disappointed in the crab cakes. She said that the crunchy outer crust overtook the crab and the crabcakes left her with an after taste of horseradish. She loved the lobster mashed potatoes. I had the Garlic Lamb small plate, which I loved. It would be good if that dish were available in a larger, entree sized portion. Our server, Elliott did an excellent job. He was well informed and very professional and attentive. The Priceline was as expected, but I am not sure of the value in all dishes. Dinner for two with no drinks and before gratuity was $101.50. Not sure if we will return.
Food and drink were great but we waited FOREVER. Service is so slow, just be aware. The appetizers were the star of the show. We loved the she crab soup and fried green tomatoes !!
Food and drinks were good, but the staff and place seemed so unorganized and inefficient. Parking lot was full so we had to park across the street and then the reservation system didnt seem to have names assigned to the reservation so they sat us at a table at our reservation time and then another group that came after us appeared to get the manager to make us get back up and wait for another table so it was a bit embarrassing and seemed like management played favorites instead of respecting all customers equally. We also didn't get our meals until almost 1 hour after seating us.
Our family has been patrons of CB for many, many years - always have enjoyed the food and service. Our last visit was disappointing to say the least and primarily because of the hostess’ attitude towards our well behaved daughter. From trying to push us to an outdoor table, loudly exclaiming they don’t have a kids menu ( which we actually never order from for her) and directly, visibly rolling her eyes when passing by our table / I’ve never been so disrespected. Based on other reviews, this seems to be an ongoing concern with kids and making assumptions. We’ll pass here in the future
5/3/24 Overpriced well platted slop. Nothing more. Service was alright until I had to complain about my dish. Ordered tuna medium rare and it came out extremely rare. I had eaten it to almost completion but couldn’t finish because I’m not usually one to complain. At the prices they charge for this “food” I would say complaining was the least of my worries. The waitress didn’t apologize or anything to correct the mistake. Almost as if she took it to heart. I’m not usually one to make a review but paying almost 80 dollars for an entree and two non-alcoholic drinks I was floored by the lack of empathy for the food I was served. We will not be back. Pic to show how the dish was platted.
A complete disaster of an experience (from a repeat customer) I have been to Chive Blossom many times, but this was one of the worst meal experiences I’ve ever had. I waited at the host stand, and no one came. Finally somebody came and just stared at me. She didn’t even say “hello.” I assumed she worked there so I told her about our reservations. It was 25 minutes for a server to come. She seemed harried and did not greet us, just wanted to know if we wanted drinks. She rattled off some specials, and seemed genuinely grumpy. She didn’t ask if we had any questions on the menu, and I asked about the special daiquiri, and this is where things really went downhill quickly. It was a burnt sugar daiquiri. A traditional daiquiri has lime juice and sugar and rum, and I just asked if the burnt sugar element made it very sweet. She said she had no idea and flagged down another person who also seemed not only agitated but said “I have no idea.” She told me the daiquiri was not frozen, I told her I don’t want anything frozen, I was just wondering about the sugar element. She just said “I’m sure it’s fine. We have a good bartender.”. I ordered it and some crab nachos for the table. When she returned with my husband’s drink, she said, “after ALL THAT problem, we don’t have the burnt sugar daiquiri.” Which made me feel like I was a high maintenance Karen, when I just asked one question. So I asked her to make me a regular daiquiri, and she said they could not do that. and she said, “we don’t have frozen drinks.” And I told her again I don’t want a frozen drink, I just want rum and sugar and lime; she asked if it was simple sugar and I nodded, and then she said “we can’t make you a daiquiri. We don’t have the ingredients.” And I wondered what they were out of. Lime? Sugar? I told her I just would NOT have a drink. She then told us that they were also out of a lot of items on the menu. (it was not even 8). Another woman came with two drinks and asked if they were ours; when we said, no, she just stood there and said, “they’re NOT yours?” We again said no, and she seemed really aggravated with us but finally left. Then our server arrived with a daiquiri. Which was totally unexpected. And she said she talked to one of the “special” bartenders who understood how to make one. Then she took our order, and said “oh, and you wanted the nachos as well.“ At this point, we have been there about 45 minutes. We were hoping to have the nachos earlier, because we ordered them a long time ago. Throughout the night, the grumpy woman who tried to give us someone else’s drink, came back again with other drinks, and seemed very aggravated each time that they were not our drinks, and very confused. At one point she said, “these are really NOT yours!?” And I felt like we had done something wrong by not accepting drinks that we didn’t order. She was that accusatory about it. Then she would huff off and ask other tables if the drinks belonged to them. Since she was there, I asked if they made a traditional planters punch, and she said “absolutely not.” Finally, the nachos arrived, and the cheese was completely congealed, and they were cold. Not a little warm, not a little congealed, but actually cold. The same could be said for my grits. Completely congealed. See photos. When the server came to fill my water glass, I told her I did not want ice, and she said “well, this has ice in it.” And just walked away. She never came back to fill my water glass or bring me water with no ice. She just left. Why didn’t we call a manager? . It was in so uncomfortable that my whole family felt uncomfortable. We were made to feel as if we were doing something wrong just by asking for no ice or not accepting drinks that we didn’t order, we were not about to make ourselves more uncomfortable by asking for a manager and complaining about the cold food. We will never be back, which is such a shame, because I really loved this place over the years, especially with brunch. I will add that she did not charge me for the daiquiri, so that was one silver lining.
Ordered chicken for our kiddo and pretty sure they forgot to put it in. They rushed it out later and when it finally came, after everyone else was finished, the chicken was raw inside. Rustic Table is a much better experience for families with kids who want everyone to have a high quality meal and good experience.
My husband and I both really wanted to like Chive Blossom. The menu sounded wonderful and the on-line reviews were great. Unfortunately, the service (though attentive) was painfully slow. It seemed to be a kitchen issue versus a waitstaff problem. We were seated at the high top with a view of the open kitchen. It was chaotic and the staff just seemed out of sync with one another. Our food tasted okay, but we both ended up sick with what appeared to be food poisoning later that evening. The next morning, my leftover sea bass had a strong, unpleasant odor so we threw it away. All in, we spent around $250 on a date night that was a total bust.
After years of patronage on our yearly trip to Pawleys Island, this years meal was a total miss. Fresh catch fish prep was not hot and poorly served. Appetizer was cold. Oysters were overly breaded and cooked in over used oil. Service not attentive. Manager provided no apologies or compensation for the experience. Not what we expected from this classic restaurant. Your patrons deserve better. And certainly deserve the attention when there is a miss. Sad that we will now be crossing this off our annual list.
