We have visited this place several times, and I would like to say that the food, atmosphere, drinks, and service are all of a very high standard. I recommend it to all my friends. I personally return for special occasions. Even though it is quite far for me to get there, I always come back. Thank you for an incredible experience.

We celebrated a birthday and an Anniversary at Frank's Outback. Everything about the evening was perfect. Our server Chloe was excellent. I am gluten free due to an allergy. They have a dedicated menu with lots of options and our server was knowledgeable about the gluten free items. We will be back again.

Frank’s is a Pawleys Island staple. Whenever we’re out as a family, we always grab a bottle of wine. This time we tried the Sip Savvy app to find a gem on the menu. It’s great because it picks wines for you based on your taste, budget, and top ratings. We found a great bottle of cab - Maxville, “The High Valley”. At $54/bottle, this bottle was at MSRP, and completely worth it for the big bold Napa cab flavor. Felt like a great deal to us, so good we ordered 2! The wine list at Frank’s is big enough that you’ll always find a gem at every price point and palette. We started with a dozen oysters and the dill pickle biscuits. Biscuits were bite-sized, but delicious! For dinner, I got the salmon with fingerling potatoes. Great dish that I’ll order again. My husband got the short rib - he loved it! Other orders were the veggie pizza and the shrimp and grits. We like to sit outside at Frank’s Outback. They always have heaters on, so it’s cozy back there. Very spacious, too! For my father in law’s birthday, they sent out a cobbler with a fun candle. Lots of celebrations all around! Every time we go to Frank’s we love the memories we build there.

From oysters to steak and lamb chops everything was on point. Def one of the best steaks 🥩 Upscale but casual enough. Menu prices are on the upper side. Waiters were very attentive. Highly recommended

We had heard so much about Frank's that our expectations were high. It far exceeded them - what a fantastic experience. The free valet service wasn't needed as we arrived early and looked over the Outback part of the restaurant, which looked inviting. Our reservations were for inside and, as you can see in all the photos, it's very cool. Stylish. I have to mention the chairs which might be the most comfortable we've ever sat in. We'd like to replace ours at home with these! My wife had a Strawberry Fizz which she loved, and I had a Plane Crash which I liked better than hers. We had heard so much about the crab cakes that we started with the small plate crab cake as an appetizer. I've had a lot of highly rated ones and these were The Best. Light and crabby. Special sauce. Yummy. Dinners were Legacy Grouper (wow) and a daily special Flounder. As good as the Grouper was - and it was excellent- the flounder was even better. It should have a permanent place on the menu. I didn't care for the beans, nothing special, IMHO. Dessert was a required 14 Layer Caramel Cake and a Pawleys Tollhouse Warm Cookie Pie with vanilla ice cream on each. It was so good, we hurt ourselves. If I had unlimited funds, we would eat here every week. Maybe more often. Our server was Lewis and he was outstanding.

A little loud on a busy night (inside). The service was excellent. Everyone is very attentive. Enjoyed the grilled grouper over grits. Try the deviled egg appetizer. Delicious. Be prepared to open your wallet.

Great restaurant that had a fun and intimate atmosphere with delicious food! We ordered bread (which is complimentary but you have to ask for it) and deep fried deviled eggs for appetizers. The deviled eggs are delicious and had a little potato in it too with the crispy pieces of prosciutto. Then the braised short rib was really delicious! The mashed potatoes were creamy and the meat melted in your mouth with a slight crunch from the French fried onions. We all really enjoyed all our meals but one of the steaks came out a bit under done. Still really well seasoned though. Then, we got several desserts! The caramel cake is wonderful but it is quite sweet! The key lime cheesecake is also really delicious as well as the cobbler! Overall, a really good meal and great desserts! The service was fairly good. The waitress came by several times but our drinks weren’t filled out as much as we wanted. However, the waitress did mess up our bills when we tried to get them split up between us. The atmosphere was awesome! It had fun twinkly lights and some nice fans since it was hotter outside and the restaurant is outside but it’s covered so if it’s raining, you will still be okay. There were live plants throughout which was nice as well.

WOW!!! We have said we’ve wanted to dine here for the longest time. Ultimately decided to have an overnight stay in Pawley’s Island and do it right. This establishment is magnificent. We dined inside and our server was Louis. He was knowledgeable about the menu, very attentive without being intrusive. We started with G.O.O.P. the roasted head of garlic, olives and capers in EVOO. Cocktails were generous. Our entrees were prepared perfectly and the mixed berry cobbler was made in-house. 100% Chef’s Kiss!

Gone here a couple times the past couple of months. The atmosphere is beautiful, I always get the short ribs, they’re not too salty I don’t know what kelly is going on about. 10/10 would recommend.

Frank’s & Frank’s Outback is a gem in Pawleys Island! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the food was absolutely delicious. A special shoutout to our server, Myke—friendly, attentive, and made the whole night even better. Highly recommend this spot for a great evening out!

Went about a month ago for our Anniversary. The flavor on each item was unique and left behind a powerful food memory. Loved the devil fried egg. The stuffed chicken special with cream, prosciutto & mushrooms amazing. I like to add a citrus on creamy dishes , used lemon to squeeze overtop. My husband had the fried grouper. I didn’t have to ask how he liked it..his plate was empty.

First time there tonight and it won't be the last. A great atmosphere and vibe. The back bar, couches and fireplace was very comfortable. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The menu was extensive and creative. The food was delicious. Well done.

Frank's has been recommended by quite a few people since we moved over the summer. My husband and I finally tried it out last night. Everything we had was delicious! Highly recommend their High Cotton Old Fashioned,4 he fried deviled eggs, and the blue crab ravioli. If they have the wild boar meatloaf as a special when you go- get it. You won't be disappointed! We sat inside- great ambiance and service.

Frank's is mildly upscale, but with a relaxed ambience that goes perfectly with the overall feel of the Pawleys Island community. Drinks are quite well made. The varied menu offers a number of really good alternatives, depending on your mood and preferences. The filet, which came medium rare and perfectly cooked, was tender and flavorful. The lamb chops were equally well presented and perfectly done. The beef short rib was tasty and satisfying, and the jumbo lump crab cake was the best I've had this far from Maryland. A coastal fried oyster appetizer was appreciated by everyone. A large slice of 14-layer caramel cake with caramel drizzle and vanilla ice cream topped off our meal perfectly.

First time for me three nights ago. Everything was near perfect. Best Caesar salad I ever had. Crabcakes with coarse ground grits and spicy collards were delicious. I did have to ask for my glass of Sancerre twice, but a small detail. It was delicious, by the way. Extensive wine list. The place has great energy and vibe. There's an outdoor bar and outdoor dining area also. The outdoor space is well-designed and nicely landscaped. Frank's reminds me of one of my favorite restaurants in the world, Ziggy & Mad Dog's in Islamorada.

SUPERB! All encompassing-food, service, ambiance. They have the whole package. Beautiful grounds, meticulously maintained. Multiple venues, meaning multiple bars, seating areas. Impeccable staff all around. You gotta go at least once a lifetime if you frequent Pawley's. Reservations are a must.

Was in the Outback area for a wedding party tonight, though very nice and I recommend parties there, what was incredible was later. It was almost 9:30 (closing) and my wife and I wanted a quick dinner thinking it would be open late on a Friday. Nope… Well Sandra took us by the hand… got us a table quickly and literally we ordered including a bottle of Rombauer Chardonnay ( which was perfect!) having Dawn and Isabelle treat us like royalty and our dinner was there so fast we could not believe it!! The grouper was incredible but the service and culture of this restaurant from these three ladies was world class… and this comes from a wine collector ( which are always foodies) and lucky enough to eat at the greatest restaurants here and abroad. I could not have more praise for Frankie’s and these 3 ladies who make it special!!! Kudos

There is so much local hype about this Pawley’s Island gem that I felt surely it couldn’t measure up. But it did, and then some! We ate outdoors, late September, and the ambience is absolute perfection. Cool, quiet, covered in trees, fairy lights and beautiful thriving plants. We ordered a ridiculously scrumptious appetizer of roasted garlic with olives and capers (called G.O.O.P.) and could have stopped there. It was incredible. My husband ordered lamb chops and I, the shrimp & grits, and we shared the warm caramel cake for dessert. Everything, EVERYTHING, was cooked to perfection and served by the best server we have ever had anywhere. (Her name is Christina and you need to try to sit in her section!) It was our anniversary, and it was PERFECT! Thank you, Frank’s!

My first time at Frank's, and I truly hope it won't be my last. What a gem of a restaurant! Our server, Michael helped to make our evening fantastic. Best Old Fashioned I've ever had! Great food, great service!

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Frank’s Outback several times a year, and each visit reaffirms why it’s one of my favorite spots. Our most recent experience was nothing short of exceptional. Brian, our server, was attentive and personable, ensuring our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. We were also assisted by a lovely lady named Revelation, whose warm demeanor and excellent service truly stood out. Both of them made our evening special with their impeccable service. As always, the food was outstanding. The fried deviled eggs, fried oysters, NY Strip, halibut special, and multiple sides were all cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. I highly recommend Frank’s Outback for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. We look forward to our next visit!

We've eaten a couple times at Frank's, but last night tried Frank's Outback for my wife's birthday. Loved it! The atmosphere was wonderful and more informal than Frank's, and a different menu (that includes pizza), and two bars. We were seated next to the wood burning fireplace and it was toasty. Our server, Tom, was excellent. He was attentive and ensured my wife's food allergy was accommodated My wife had the beef short ribs, and I had the crab cakes - both delicious. Can't wait to go back!

Based on recommendations from several locals (including one in the restaurant business) I stopped in here to try it out. I arrived during the suppertime rush so the parking lot and inside was very busy. The screened in patio deck still had plenty of available seats. I chose a bar seat so I was brought in immediately. Dined on the conch fritters (excellent), 21 oz Cowboy steak (prepared to perfection) with mushrooms, and a decent salad. My server was Alex who did a fantastic job throughout the meal process. While at the bar I was close enough to watch my steak being prepared. The chef was good at what he was doing. This is a high end price restaurant but it was worth it for my value. As mentioned due to popularity parking on the gravel lot can be quite a challenge so be prepared. Turn in off the highway is quick so be ready for that also. Worth a repeat visit next time I'm in the Myrtle Beach area,

To be frank....this place is amazing. The staff was really friendly, the atmosphere is romantic, and the food is exquisite. Went here for our anniversary and it was the perfect place. From our steaks to dessert, everything was delicious. Would go back for sure.

Frank’s is a local gem. You definitely need a reservation. Staff is tremendous, kind, friendly and sweet. Food was amazing! I would argue better than Hall’s Chophouse in Charleston. From the apps to drinks and the main course…absolutely wonderful. We will be going back, no doubt.

My husband and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary with an indoor dining experience. Our server, JR, provided exceptional service, significantly enhancing our evening. He was friendly, attentive, and offered excellent recommendations. We plan to return and will request JR for future reservations. The outdoor ambiance was a perfect complement to the experience. Much love to you, JR and team!

We went to Frank’s Outback for our anniversary. Food was delicious and atmosphere was amazing. Staff were helpful and kind. One staff member, Jichelle was our favorite. She was fun, positive, always had a smile. Outback will definitely be a go to when we are in town.

Great food & Mark was a great waiter! He chose 2 appetizers and my main meal. Couldn’t have been happier with his selections and can’t wait to go back. Our table was a bit noisy by the kitchen, so that was a bummer. Next time we will request not to be sat there.

We celebrated our parent’s wedding anniversary over the weekend. Staff and kitchen handled our large party of 15 really well. The food, service and atmosphere is phenomenal. It’s our favorite place to gather in Pawleys :)

It was our first time and our server JR was amazing. He was very professional. The beef ribs and rack of lamb were delicious. We will definitely return, hope it will be sooner than later.

The food and service are excellent! We come down to pawleys Island several times a year and always pick a night to go here. We love the atmosphere here also. Everything we have ever had is awesome. My only complaint, and it is a small one. Please put a few more shrimp in the shrimp and grits. If you have never been do your taste buds a favor and stop in, you won't regret it!

M

Really nice atmosphere, and Mike was an excellent server! Ribeye was fantastic, along with the Pimento cheese, burata and goat cheese apps, the 14 layer caramel cake, and the key lime cheesecake. The sides we weren't as fond of (Mac and cheese and creamed spinach. They would have been very good, but they added something to them, and it the the flavor off). The prices are a little steep.

Great ambiance and service. We had a large birthday table and very accommodating. Great outdoor seating. The food was very good- best I’ve ever had, no. I think some of the better dishes were the pizza I tried, the GOOP and the caramel cake. I don’t think I would get bowl of soul again- just didn’t hit the flavor profiles I was expecting and chicken was more a softer fried tender than a piece of southern fried chicken. I also would pass on the Brussels salad- just didn’t do it for me (needed to be dressed a bit more) and I also would have preferred the prosciutto to not be a large chunk on the salad.

FIT FOR FOODIES! Food Excellent, Service Excellent. I would have rated the restaurant excellent - but it was a little noisy. We were seated inside. Frank's is an upscale, higher priced restaurant. The quality of the food and the degree of service made it worth it. This is a great option for that upscale meal out. Back in 2024 - just as good.

T

The food is always good here! The fried goat cheese balls were amazing! My husband got the porkchop that came with forbidden rice, asparagus, and a mustard sauce. I got the 16 oz steak and we ordered a small side of asparagus and bacon/cheddar grits. It was nice that they offered a smaller size or family-sized sides. Everything was seasoned well and delicious! Sherry was our waitress and she attended to us well. The staff were very observant about refilling our water glasses. We were in the back room, so with the open kitchen, it definitely got warmer as the night went on and got busier.

They have a big parking lot on the side and the back of the restaurant so you don't have to worry about parking space. We're in Pawsley Island for vacation and the restaurant is really close by. The place is easy to get crowded even on a weekday night so reservation is highly recommended. The dining area inside are cozy but the outdoor dining area looks very nice too. It's close to Halloween so the decor around the restaurant follows that theme. Good food and nice ambience. We had: - Fried oysters: it was okay. - Bahamian sautéed conch: the sauce of this dish is delicious but you won't taste the conch meat as much since it mixed too well with fried batter. - Grilled 6 Ounce Filet of Beef: the red wine sauce substitute is very good. - Fish of the day-pan seared flounder: very tender and tasty - Chocolate brownie and vanilla icecream for dessert: togo Our server is very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about the menu. He had the bar mixed up a delicious mocktail for me, suggested a nice sauce to substitute with the sauce that go with the beef since my boyfriend doesn't like blue cheese. He also packed the leftover with special paper layer so it doesn't leak through the paper togo box. He also suggest the dessert for togo since we were too full but still want to try the dessert. All in all, we had a very good experience. We will definitely come back when we're in town the next time.

This place is huge! Our waiter JR was superb, great fun. We dined indoors and it was fine (I would recommend dining out). The food was OK. I was expecting better. The duck breast was way too rare and the fat was not fully rendered. The conch fritters were nice as was the tuna Poke. Most of our dishes were simply over seasoned. Nonetheless, we had a great night.

M
Marion Brett Funderburk

We come here every time we're in Pawleys and usually love it. This time we didn't. I don't know what happened but none of us enjoyed the food this time, seemed like the atmosphere was more important than the cooking. I didn't want to say anything and spoil everyone's time but everyone agreed once we were back at the beach house. Pizza is usually great, this one was terrible, the salads also terrible and a crazy price for what they are

J
JJ O

We went with friends for dinner. We could only get a table inside. The experience was still excellent. I really enjoyed my entree however my husband got the duck and he said it was too fatty and did not enjoy it. The portions are huge. The apps were good. They have a large wine list, only a couple of craft beers. They did have a cocktail menu. We ended up having beer and our friends had wine. We were surprised the prices were very reasonable and the waiter was attentive.

The allure of Frank's outdoors has been sliding over the years. The shift to industrial plates and pizza hut plastic water cups definitely takes away from the fine dining experience. Bread is no longer a given or suggested. If you ask for bread you will get some. We had a wonderful meal there last night. Reservations 6:15 by 7:45 it was obvious that it was time to leave and that someone was waiting for our table. Don't think about getting an appertif and sitting to chat. There is the bar for that. Spent close to $600 for 6 people. Ok not outrageous and food was good but I feel that Franks is turning into a high end fast food restaurant. Server was phenominal! Just following orders to get people in and out.

I had been wanting to go to Frank’s for years, and a friend finally made reservations. I was so excited and eager to see what all the hype was about. Unfortunately, our experience was…interesting, to say the least. When we arrived, the scenery was beautiful, and we were seated right away. That’s when things started to go downhill. We waited nearly 15 minutes before a server approached us. When he finally did, he began taking our drink order—only to be interrupted by another staff member. He walked away with them without saying a word. Almost five minutes later, a different server came to take our drink order, meaning it took over 20 minutes just for someone to acknowledge us. By then we were starving, so we ordered appetizers along with our drinks. When they finally arrived, both were delicious. However, shortly after, something truly bizarre happened. Our original server brought a birthday cake to a young child and his mother at a nearby table, complete with a sparkling candle. When the candle went out, the server removed it, looked at them, and said, “I’m going to try this cake with you,” then licked the bottom of the candle. The mother and child awkwardly laughed, and I honestly felt like I had entered the Twilight Zone. I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing. About 25 minutes later, our meals arrived, and they were also very good. Overall, while the food was excellent, the entire experience was so strange that it felt like we were being pranked. I hate that this was our first visit, but thankfully we have a sense of humor and made the most of it. That said, I’m not sure I’ll be returning anytime soon.

A
Abigale Palmer

I was disappointed in our most recent experience. Our server was good, but the length of time we waited on food seemed high, salad plate was taken from my mom when she wasn't done it, she was just not actively eating, plates/utensils cleared aggressively each time, the food seemed rushed in presentation which is disappointing figuring the cost. I will go back because my first time was amazing. Maybe this was just not a good night.

D
Doug Schnorbus

I was disappointed after driving an hour to eat there. The hostess was rude(African American girl), the food was not timed properly, (salad before appetizer), the pimento cheese was good, chopped salad lacked key ingredients, small plate of mahi was good but very small. There are better restaurants in NMB that don’t require the 707 beat down drive.

R
Rodney Myer

Took my Girlfriend there for Valentines dinner. Was told by others it was a romantic place to go. Reservations were at 8:30 kinda late but all they had left. Mark the waiter was ok. My Girlfriend got the Wild Boar meatloaf, I got the cooked two way Duck. The food kinda tasted like diner food and we finished with creme Brule that was half cooked half warm half cold. Now the outback of this place was Beautifully decorated too bad it wasn't warmer out we would of sat out there. So after our over 100.00 bill which was fine for a good meal. But this was far from that. After getting home ended up in the Bathroom sick not A good dinner out at all.

Ordered for pickup, visiting on vacation. And everyone told us this was the best place. Not good.I wouldn’t spend this kind of $$ again.

J
Judith Gogan

The grounds were very pretty with all the lights and hearts. The food was not so good. I had the boar meat loaf. It was dry and tasted like a lot of chili powder was used in it. My boyfriend had the Duck prepared 2 ways. It was rubbery, and he got violently ill by the time we got home.

PAVE THE PARKING LOT! I love this place, but they need to pave the parking lot already! Enough with the gravel. People are dressed up, trying to walk into the restaurant and there’s dust flying everywhere. Nice cars and dressy people getting a dusty mess. I almost had an asthma attack trying to walk into the restaurant..

K
Kelly Dollinger

We went on 9/27 for my mom’s birthday Throughout our whole meal we were rushed. As soon as we sat down, we were rushed to order drinks. My cocktail was undrinkable. I asked our waiter for some cranberry juice to help make it more palatable, but he never brought it. The pimento cheese and spring roll appetizers were delicious. It went downhill from there. The Caesar salads are a joke… $15! I’ve had bag salads from the grocery store that looked better. My short rib was very salty. My husbands filet was mediocre at best. We’ve cooked better steaks from Walmart at home. The desserts were very good- we got the key lime cheesesteak and traditional cheesecake. However, multiple times throughout the meal, if we would put down our fork for a second to speak to one another, they would ask to clear our plates. The atmosphere was beautiful. When asked, they removed my cocktail from our bill bc I could not drink it. Despite the good appetizers, desserts and atmosphere, we will never be back.
