Just returned from a family dinner at The Bank, Bude and can honestly say that this restaurant is fabulous. From the polite and welcoming team, to the amazing food, absolutely everything was a delight. The portions were a reasonable size and price, but the tastes were amazing, everything has a very slight spicy kick and I loved it!!! The only minor (and I mean really super minor) was that my mum thought the calamari rings was a little tough and it did not detract from our overall experience of the food at all. It's difficult to recommend a particular dish as we loved everything we ate, but the meat paella is a must, really highly recommended! I would also recommend you make a reservation to dine here as this restaurant with good reason is popular!! I only wish that I was staying in Bude one more night so I can return!! My thanks to all of the team at The Bank for your wonderful hospitality and food and I really hope to come back next time I am in Bude!!

1st time at the Bank for Tapas. Very impressed with the Tapas quality and selection and our server Ben and the rest of the team. We booked an outside booth as had the dog with us. Portions are larger than usual Tapas dishes. Although outside we didn't feel separate to the main restaurant as we were checked on regularily regarding drinks and food. Even the dog was catered for with water, doggie ice cream and treats when we paid the bill. Overall experience excellent. Highly recommend and will be back when in Bude again.

First time trying this place and it did not disappoint, easy menu to order with a ticking system, tried a variety of dishes including the confit duck, grilled aubergine drizzled in honey, croquettes which were delicious, and the pork belly. A hidden gem on the outskirts of bude which overlooks a beautiful meadow. Can’t wait to go back on my next trip to the coast.

Fabulous little restaurant looking out into local greenery. We came across by accident whilst walking down to the Electric Bakery we’d been told we must visit, (it’s also great if you’re visiting Bude btw!), and popped into book at table. We had to wait a few days as they were so booked up but now we’ve been in, we see why! The restaurant is gorgeous, amazing views and the food was stellar. Great variety of choices, loads of them gluten free which was fabulous for me. The staff were so attentive in general and made the experience all the more special but I have to mention, the care they took on my order really making me feel in safe hands coming back to check once we’d ordered via the handy little card system what I was having just to be even more careful in the kitchen even though I’d ordered all marked GF dishes. This may seem OTT to some but I thought that was so great as not all businesses take that much care and a lot of the time serving staff don’t even seem to know basic allergens never mind understanding and caring enough to double check everything. My personal favourite were the haddock goujons, fish tasted super fresh, fish flaking perfectly and the batter was light, crisp and crunchy with loads of flavour, Everything we tried was great including puddings, the chocolate orange tart was deliciously rich and yummy! If you’ve not been to The Bank, pop it on your to-do list as it’s been a highlight of our holiday. Fantastic food, lovely staff, beautiful views and a great way to end our stay. What a gem to have if you live locally, we will definitely be back on our next trip!

Lovely tapas and attentive waiting staff. Food was all wonderful—the vegetable paella was a little bland compared to the other really flavoursome dishes. Great that it's dog-friendly inside! Would return in the future.

Honestly the best food I've ever had at any restaurant. We ordered so much because the menu was so good we just wanted to try everything! The quality, flavour and portion sizes were ten out of ten and it was evident that the produce was fresh and locally sourced. Very easy to end up spending a fortune but it's worth every penny! Great atmosphere and very friendly and attentive staff. I've booked a table again in August for me and my partner because she'll absolutely love it! *edit 16/08/24*: Came back here with my partner after coming for the first time with my parents in July. The experience was just as good. The food is next level! Absolutely delicious and cooked to order using quality ingredients. Extremely friendly staff and the place has such a great atmosphere. Will be back for a third time and more, for sure 🤘

Lovely place great food and service. We had one of there pods out side as our dog was with us. Really nice and they didn't forget you where there. Ordered far too much but oh well

J

A dog friendly venue with a great range of tapas. We booked a private pod - it sat the 4 of us with space for the dogs. Servers were friendly and helpful throughout. To order your food initially, you use a checklist, which makes it so much easier. Food is brought out as it is ready so you recieve 2-3 dishes at a time which is great. Food was excellent. Squid, alibondegas, goats cheese croquettes, and beefburger sliders were the favourites. If we are down this way again, we would definitely visit. It is a popular venue, so make sure you book in advance. Walk ins are often disappointing as no tables.

Amazing place to come and eat, plenty of variety and choice, all of the food was of a high standard and the service from all the waiting staff was great. We had a private pod overlooking the river bank and were not forgotten about. Will definitely come again if we're ever near Bude.

We had a great meal here Saturday night for my mum’s 60th. The atmosphere and decoration was fab, cocktails were so good and looked great. Fab quality of drinks and wide range of food. Reasonably priced. Shout out to Keiran who dealt with all 11 of us fantastically, was great fun, polite, attentive and always provided fantastic service. Would come back when next in Bude

Amazing food, great staff and a lovely venue. We were met with a very warm welcome and shown to our 'pod' which was a cosy, warm little wooden hut with nice decor and quaint little touches. The staff were really helpful in guiding us on quantities and they were spot on. 5-6 dishes was sufficient, and I can eat, believe me! The food was amazing. And the waitress was a good sport too. Definitely going back.

We had a weeks family holiday in Bude and were astonished by the poor quality and poor value for money on offer from other establishments in town. We were however lucky to get a table at Bank on our last night. Superb food, excellent quality ingredients, good choice and portion sizes, attentive service, quirky surroundings right next to the river, SUPER dog friendly (dogs welcomed through the whole restaurant, they even offered dog beds !! Which is something I have never seen anywhere ❤️👌), we have been trying to think of anything they could improve on and have drawn a blank 😂. Well done !!!!

Called in and managed to get a cabin next to the river, had a little heater just in case, service was great we even had a little button to summon extra drinks, Tasty dishes and loads to choose from. Definitely will visit again

Wow!! What can I say absolutely spectacular!!! What a great restaurant. The owner is lovely, the staff as so happy and helpful. The food is outstanding. Even our dog loved it. One thing moving forward how about starting to offer dog meals alongside the owners dining out, get the pooches eating out to . Think my photos say it all. Book your table yesterday you will not be disappointed.

Very good food is coming in large quantities. The staff is very nice, prices reasonable. We enjoyed chorizo and meatballs tapas.

A great place for food. The food was first class and offering the tapas selection they have, gave you many choices. The staff were very friendly and polite and the overall experience was 10/10. They have about four small summerhouses out the front which are heated and offer a safer alternative if you have any concerns about Covid19. Various beers and wines and also selection of cocktails.

I can be super critical eating out and rarely get a wow factor... The Bank gave me the wow factor and more. The food was absolutely insane.. So tasty.. And proper tapas.. Not a load of deep fried frozen foods that many bars try to pass off as tapas.. Cocktails were lovely too.. Staff were excellent and they make pups feel very welcome. Lottie was given a bed to sleep on while we dined in one of the pods with beautiful views. Simply cannot recommend the place enough and we will be back again when we come back to Bude soon. You need to book before you get here to secure a table but will be worth it.

Lovely food. Good portions. Heaters outside too.

Excellent venue, a little harder to find but worth visiting if you're after quality dining in Bude. Great tapas food, Spanish music and views out over the marshes.

Just had fantastic evening. We booked an outside table two weeks ago and it was well worth the wait. We were in a little perspex pod ,big enough for 4 people with lovely views out over the marshes. Food was fantastic, staff were really helpful, polite and knowledgeable. Will definitely visit again.

Super glad we made a reservation. Tapas were super delicious and I know a little thing of two about them. Very tasty overall. My kids absolutely loved the chicken wings. The prawns were banging, reminded me of back home... Spanish Ham was good but not amazing. Anyway glad I celebrated my birthday there 😊 We booked the Pod which was super cozy and warm. Service was really good too. 👍

So many wonderful things to eat, amazing Cornish Tapas. We had one of the outside booths which seats four in an amazingly decorated private hut, all the food is a Cornish twist on tapas and the ingredients are sourced locally. I would be there every week if I lived locally. Dog friendly as well throughout the restaurant they provide water bowls and mats for them. Even our large Newfie is welcomed.

Stayed with a friend, who recommended this place to us. It's both of our fiftieth's soon, so we fancied something different... Boy, is this different (in a really good way!) No idea what to expect, looks quite unassuming from the road as you drive in. It really isn't though! As we got out of the car, the sounds and smells hit you, and both are wonderful! There is a main restaurant and other "pods" - sheds I guess - and we were in one right by the entrance. Really dog friendly as well, both our friends dogs really loved the beds provided for them. Not really done tapas for a while, so wasn't sure what to order. Thankfully, our friend had been before and knew how it all worked. She suggested a few items, and we worked our way up to twelve dishes - between four so not that bad really! Staff were attentive without being overbearing. We spent a lot of time chatting so the poor waitress had to come back a few times... Sorry! We ordered a wide variety of tapas, bean things, fish, shrimp, beetroots in cheddar cheese (surprisingly phenomenal). Our table groaned at the weight of all the plates. Everything was delicious. There was a smokey bean dish that was outstanding, as well as a paprika potato dish that I could have just eaten all night. Lovely venue (would like to go back in daylight), great food and a brilliant night overall. Please, please, please if you are near Bude you must go here!

Popped in to book a table for today and very helpful and friends staff. Booked a table for 7pm. Made very welcome on arrival and asked if we've been before. We had so they spent time explaining the offers and how to order. The food came and it was brilliant, would recommend to anyone who comes to Bude to try.

We were taken to The Bank by two lovely friends for the celebration of two Birthdays. The service was attentive, courteous good humored and informative. It was a first-time experience for the four of us. The staff were patient and professional and guided us through the process of ordering. They spoke with knowledge and confidence on all the different dishes that where available. We shared between us ten separate dishes, each of which was prepared beautifully and perfectly presented. The ambience of the room we were in was fantastic it was a delight to see other visitors had been made welcome with their dogs. The whole restaurant seemed to have a very happy vibe going on throughout the evening. I have to say that it is the first time I have ever dined out with other people where we have been discussing plans for a return visit before even ordering the dessert. This delightful restaurant is well worthy of the awards and accolades it has received and we will definitely be returning soon.

Incredible Tapas location with a strong variety of dishes and incredible service, fast polite and witty! Be aware you must book in advance. All dishes were delicious, particularly the Chorizo and Mushrooms in Sherry. Parking available on site, and dogs are allowed inside the restaurant. For a party of 2, your booking gets you 90 minutes.

Absolutely loved this place will deffo go back when we are in Cornwall, such a lovely atmosphere and staff were really nice, they also have pods with dog beds if you take your furry friend with you, I think that is such a good touch. The food was delicious, the dishes are quiet big for tapas so you don't need to order loads, maybe 3 dishes each. I love Spanish food and this is a must visit if in the area, it was also fully booked up for the week which speaks words

Booked in advance for myself as a late birthday treat as an end to an intensive week of surfing. Wanted to come to this place last time I was in Bude but didn't realise how popular it is. Well, after finally going there, I can see why! Starting with the atmosphere is rather chill, small but comfortable. There is air-conditioning, so hot days shouldn't be a bother. Friendly, welcoming staff right from start to finish, cool water waits at the table which is a nice to those of us that like a sip before hand. Now, onto the food; portions are a little large, so solo diners beware! I opted for 3, could have fit 4, but didn't want to fall into a food coma, HA! Starting with the pan-fried mushrooms, they were so more-ish! Seasoned well, not over done, i could have polished a couple of portions of those by itself. The calamari was fried to perfection. Only slight downfall was they had a little too much seasoning. A slight dusting would have been perfectly fine. Onto the duck with green beans, beans were nicely done, still had a slight crunch to them, and the duck did seem a little dry on the corners. The mocktail was nice, not too sweet, generous in size, and refreshing! Overall, nice food, and i'd love to return with some company and try more dishes!

Best seabass I've ever had. All other food we had was delicious too. Lovely decor, really enjoyed this place and would definitely come back. Also very accommodating if you have a dog. Complimentary bed for your pooch to sit on was a really nice touch.

Visited for my wife's birthday with my son and in-laws, booked the outside pod for 5 guests. The food, service was faultless. I couldn't have asked for a better dining experience and highly recommend.

Dined in outside pod we had a lovely experience, staff lovely and helpful and the food was stunning. Best meal out I've had for a while. There were 2 of us and we ordered 6 tapas meals to share.

Great querky place, amazing food and nice cold drinks. Loved the pork belly and the calamari. Even the fussy kids tried the food. Service was very good and with a smile even with the heat. Only recommendation is possibly a selection of smaller puds for the kids as I had to help them with the sticky toffee pud and the choc fondant which I was willing to do but was already full. 😁

Had a long weekend in Bude and booked a table for the two of us and our dog. The service was great (almost too attentive!!), food and the Rioja excellent. Lovely spot, busy and a great atmosphere. The only (very) slight downside is there is only one toilet so had to queue a little. Did not take away from the evening at all

We have just visited the Bank at Bude to celebrate my sons birthday, this restaurant has never failed at bringing out great food, as always the atmosphere in the restaurant was amazing and the the servers we extremely efficient and had great knowledge of the menu food was amazing highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was amazing. But that’s not the only reason you should visit the bank. We had a wonderful waiter called Henry who couldn’t do enough for us. He was charming, suave and sophisticated. He carried his tray with finesse and the highlight of the night was when he joined us during his extended break. Henry was extremely attentive and ensured that we had everything we needed in a timely manner. We were also impressed with Ben, Henry’s apprentice and it’s clear he’s learning from the best. 10/10.

Had a Valentine's Day booking in one of the heated outdoor pods. There was a good selection of vegetarian dishes and the portion sizes were generous. The staff were friendly, engaging and efficient. Would highly recommend but do book first, it's very popular

J

Incredible dining experience, amazing selection of top quality food. The option to have a private dog friendly booth was fantastic. The staff were so friendly and helpful and helped us choose some absolutely fantastic mocktails. Will definitely visit again next time we are in Bude!

The food was excellent. Fantastic location to watch the wildlife as the sun was going down. Around a half mile walk from Town if not driving. Only snag for me was the limited parking as it was New Year's Eve and having to queue for the single Gents toilet, although I would imagine it's probably similar during the Summer Holidays. Book well in advance particularly when requesting one of the cabins.

Intriguing venue with great food a proper special occasion place . Warm welcome nicely explained menu and how to order by a waitress on her first night's service so I was impressed by her . Cocktails came aperol lacked kerb appeal not stirred and no prosecco others looked ok . Food was outstanding I went for the fish choices, calamari, seafood paella ,garlic prawns and seafood broth (seas the day ) all superb and without fault . Why the lost star you ask well , after couple of our party were going to have a dessert. Only to be told if we did want dessert a move was required to another table this seemed rude as the table obviously seated the same number and was obviously empty . Perhaps nearer the door and colder I don't know we paid £173 for 4 and promptly left if we had stayed we probably would have added another 100 to that bill with dessert and extra cocktails the list looked appealing. The food kept it a 4 star but really left a sour 3 star feeling to what was a really good restaurant. Will as usual go back. Perhaps on a not double booked table night to get the true experience that we so nearly had .

We were really pleased to discover this place open on our winter weekend in Bude. The food was really good and only reason I didn’t give a 5 was recommended amount to order cost quite a bit and was far too much.

C
Chris Holden

We've visited twice now a few years apart and it's been a consistently lovely place for tapas and drinks. The menu is varied enough that there will be something for everyone; we had six tapas and two small starters between two of us and just finished it all. Apart from the usual soft drinks, wine and beer, there is also a fairly decent cocktail menu, several of which we sampled!

P
Pedro Sá Moreira

The owner is a great host, outdoor seating is nicely decorated, comfortable with blankets and a lovely tableware. Staff were friendly and kitchen was fast, food tasty but not master on tapas... Maybe recommended for group dinning for sharing. Paella was just ok and considering ingredients and cooking the price was expensive.

A
Anurag Narain Singh

Nice anchovies, pork belly and shrimps. Decent paella. I’d give the meatballs a miss. Wish they made fresh cocktails :) the pre mix margaritas were fairly good nevertheless - not so much the passion fruit martinis. Don’t expect London like tapas portions - max 3-4 should be more than enough for 2.

W
Wirginia Drozd

Very nice food, we really enjoyed it although in the small booth where we have been seated there was no music at all, we felt it was missing out a bit of atmosphere. Also no dessert in the menu was a bit of surprise!

N
Nicole Lyndsell Fleet

Outside cabin was small but suitable. We were told we had the table for 90minutes and this was quite literally adhered to as we were given a 15 minute notice to vacate. The service was good but the food was average. Having eaten recently at a beautiful tapas in Bradford on Avon The Bank does not compare. The food and drinks did not compare in taste or cost. I will not be returning.

T
Tracey Wellingham

Been going here for years - every time we come down. Sadly despite great drinks, friendly efficient service the food was lacking this time. Duck tostadas nice, but the rest distinctly average. The quesadillas didn’t contain any cheese, just crumbly dry chicken/ chorizo mix? Hopefully just an off night as we usually love this place.

B

Cornwall may not be the best place for Tapas. The interior is very cute and coasy and the staff are very attentive. The mocktails were very special. however we were told 2-3 tapas dishes per person and that's definitely too much. we had something bready to start but it turned out to be very basic garlic bread with some sweet sauce on it. I had padron peppers and they were fantastic. but out of the 6 tapas dishes we ordered we only really liked two of the dishes. we found all the fish/seafood dishes disappointing in favour. our two recommended dishes would be the chorizo in wine and the serano ham croquettes. we ordered a starter each and 6 tapas dishes, two mocktails and one cocktail and it came to just over £100. That said, portions are very generous ( I'd have recommended sharing 3 dishes between two people with a light starter.) would go again but avoid the seafood dishes.

We opted for the “Build your own Paella to Share” and ordered Mussels, Prawns, Squid, Haddock and Chicken. We purposely didn’t order peas or peppers as my partner doesn’t like either. We also ordered a glass of Merlot and a bottle of sparkling water, we discussed whether to order a large or small bottle of water but no size option was mentioned on the glass of wine. We were rather surprised when the food arrived less than 10 minutes after placing the order given that Paella rice, including the brand mentioned on the menu, takes around 18-20 minutes to cook. We were warned to be careful with the hot handles. I add these details because of what happened next. The paella for two was actually quite small and consisted of 3 mussels, 4 prawns, one piece of squid the size of my finger nail, 4 pieces of chicken, no haddock at all and rather a lot of peas. It was also tepid, the “hot” handles were little more than warm, incredibly dry and inedible – the rice stuck to the top of your mouth, the one prawn that I tried was overcooked and tasteless and the chicken so dry that the only taste was the slightly spiced coating on it. We pressed the button in the booth to attract service – nothing happened. We eventually pressed it again but again got no response so I went to find the young man as he was the only person we had seen to that point. We explained that we couldn’t eat the food as it had obviously been reheated and that we were happy to pay for the drinks but felt that we had lost faith in light of the very disappointing food that wasn’t even to the recipe we had ordered. He took the food away. Shortly after that a young woman with a northern English accent came to see us, apologised for the problem and confirmed that the chef had agreed that food was dry, she didn’t introduce herself so I don’t know what her position at the restaurant is. She also stated quite clearly that the dish had been cooked to order from scratch, despite the physical impossibility of that given the type of rice used. She seemed to have forgotten that the order was also 50% incorrect. We declined her offer to have it recooked and asked for the bill for the drinks. We got bored of waiting and went to find her – she was finally on her way with the bill. The bill for a glass of wine and a 75cl bottle of sparkling water was over £18! When I questioned the amount she said that it was a large glass of high quality wine and they’d charged £12.50 for it (despite the menu showing £11.50 for a large glass). I know places have to make a living but over £6 for a bottle of water? People who have read my reviews over the years will know that I always try to be constructive and honest, I have continued to apply that approach here. We have had some pretty bad meals across 4 continents but this one is right up there with the worst ever – the food was awful, the staff either dishonest or mis-informed and the prices a rip off

Despite having a reservation, our table was not ready so we were seated in the bar area. Although nobody actually served us with drinks so we asked to be served. By then our table was ready. We quickly placed our order as 2 other tables were seated just after. Only for the waitress to THEN tell us what was not available. We were then given bread almost straight away which we all presumed was a complimentary appetiser to which we were later charged. An hour later, A paella was then served......... They then served the other 2 tables???? We then asked twice where our food was and they said it was on its way.............. The paella was now cold and dried up so we sent it back. An hour and 20 mins. We were then served our fresh tapas but reheated paella. The water said it was fresh when asked. It wasn't fresh so we returned it and requested it be taken from the bill. The waiter then apologised and asked if we wanted drinks (complimentary). Only one person ordered a drink. I think we just wanted to leave by then ! We requested the bill and all the items were on there. The bill was revised 2 more times until they still had the bread added (which came out due to their ordering error). In the end we paid just to get out and NEVER RETURN. Another thing to think about before booking would be that this business cancels any bad experiences so the patron is unable to leave a review on their system!!! No wonder they are highly rated ???

We've been meaning to try this for a while now, and a friend also advised us to go here, really wished we hadn't now! Managed to get a table just turning up on a Saturday night. They put us around the corner (back) it was freezing cold around there, my partner had to leave his coat on through the whole meal. There was thick black mould on the ceiling tarpulin, it was really thick and disgusting. We had to wait ages for them to come back and take our order and drinks. I had the pork belly which was more like a loin steak, luke warm, undercooked, the same with the chicken also, undercooked. The only thing that was okay were the garlic mushrooms, my partner's food was also undercooked. When I asked for the bill and the awkward option to leave a 15% tip when you pay on the card machine and didn't, I got the 'death stare' To top the evening off came home and within 1 hour of being home I had 'food poisoning' being sick and diarrhea all night, and so did my dog who we also gave some chicken to. He also had diarrhea all over our kitchen floor. Do not eat here is my advice to you
