Called in about 3pm yesterday, knowing it was closing at 4pm, for a couple of drinks and a game of cards. This was while we waited for the weather to improve and for the ferry to resume from the slip (rather than the beach). A great welcome to us and our dogs from the staff. My coffee was exceptionally good, as was my wife's lemoncello. I also had a large spiced rum on the rocks as a follow on. The background music was great, the dogs behaved, a fantastic view over the Camel Estuary (keeping an eye on the ferry) and so it was a very relaxing atmosphere in which to kill an hour. Thank you.
Gorgeous relaxed restaurant with lovely food and attentive but not intrusive service. The fig with cheese sauce was to die for. The chicken wings were messy and delicious. Chicken Caesar salad was tasty and very filling and the monkfish scampi was beautiful. We would say The Upper Deck is our favourite restaurant in Rock.
What a fabulous place for NYE 33 of us booked in for a special event organised by the Upper deck absolutely brilliant staff, superb ambience and atmosphere and the food utterly sublime with a pre picked menu choices run from 19:30 to 01:00 and the fireworks across the harbour in Padstow was a brilliant finale. Highly recommend this place
We’ve been here a few times for lunch when we’ve been to the beach. It’s always very good with a great atmosphere, good views, densely staff and tasty food. Seafood is sourced locally on the same day and the menu is kid friendly. We messaged ahead as they don’t take lunchtime bookings but they were happy to accommodate us and help us with any special requests. Looking forward to going back!!
Lovely pub right on the front. We sat upstairs on the rooftop terrace with our drinks with fabulous views over the bay out to Holy Isle. Lovely place to sit and have a drink. We didn't eat here so can't comment on food.
came in last week with my partner, came in and was absolutely delighted with friendly service. Ophelia was our host she was absolutely amazing, she was very patient and chatty and can make one hell of a Hugo spritz.
Amazing place to eat with spectacular views across to Padstow. Buttermilk chicken burger with bacon, salad, tomato and sauce was delicious and the chips were nice too! Upper Deck beef burger was great as was the goat’s cheese starter! Service was quick and great as the manager and the waitresses were friendly. However took a while to receive the bill.
Staff were all friendly and helpful, service was quick and they were very attentive. The burgers were great quality. View out over the harbour was stunning. Would definitely return
Lovely location, great food and fantastic service! We popped in for our anniversary and had a lovely meal. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.
We visited on 14/04/25. We were a party of seven with three dogs and we're well accommodated. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and we did not feel rushed. The food was excellent. Would definitely visit again.
Warm, friendly, accommodating. Everything you could ask for. Knowledgeable staff with a flair for customer service. A rare thing these days for sure! Quality of food and drinks was also top drawer. Very enjoyable alongside stunning estuary views. Would throughly recommend and will for sure be visiting again.
This is a lovely place to stop in Rock. The food is lovely, good drinks and the staff are wonderful. They’re dog and baby friendly. There was also a young couple with a 6 week old (ours was 7 months). They were struggling as you do eating and juggling baby which can be super difficult. The lovely manager offered to hold and comfort the their baby to allow them to eat. Anyone who’s had children and been through this know just how kind a gesture this is 🫶🏻
We have been in today, party of 8. We booked and asked for a table in the corner As we have 4 dogs. We arrived early, absolutely no problem, delayed our food order so we could have a drink and chat, no problem. The food was excellent, the staff were all lovely, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. A lovely atmosphere, and well worth a visit. Great place, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Thankyou for a lovely chilled afternoon.
Food and service amazing! The staff were so friendly and accommodating with our baby and the pram. One waitress went above and beyond feeding the baby for us whilst we ate! The food was gorgeous and the views across the estuary make a lovely backdrop. Highly recommend and will definitely return now we know about it!
Exceptional food, delicious flavours and excellent service from very caring and professional waitress/manager. Highly recommend this place and the staff.Very enjoyable afternoon spent with friends who had never been here before. We will be back soon!
This lovely little restaurant overlooking the estery have a great atmosphere and amazing food. On a sunny day, sitting on the balcony and having a drink and some food is to die for. All the staff are so friendly and greet you with a smile. Would definitely recommend. Had a main, 2 drinks and a deserts and only came out to £35 pp
Staff is professional, the view is crazy. Beef burgher taste absolutely great. We are talking about first choice ingredients. Maybe the menu might be a bit more deep but daily specials are always present. It's not the cheapest restaurant you can find but you pay for quality.
I just want to give a massive shout out to the two ladies on shift, who had been on since 9am and were still going strong after 9 in the evening. Just the two of them, but good grief did they absolutely deliver a stunner of a customer service performance. There was a piano player providing beautiful background music in a lovely modern interior, with a lovely balcony overlooking the bay and also providing beautiful views of a sunset. The food itself was sublime, very tasty and, although you might argue that menu was limited to 5/6 options, they were all superb and it was a nice variety. We were staying in a house up the road and walked down, although parking might be a slight issue (most people walk so you’ll probably find space). Price wise okay, might be a tad on the heavy side, but it was great food. In all honesty, the service here was some of the best I’ve experienced - the ladies were lovely and even provided painkillers as I was suffering with an immense bout of toothache. Great evening!
Dog friendly, Walked in and sat down straight away. Food is fresh and well presented. My partner had the mussels and myself double burger. Margarita was sublime and beer refreshing. One of our top five meals ever. Definitely will come again when in Rock Cornwall
We visited The Upper Deck twice during our stay in Rock, and we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food and service on both occasions. Very dog-friendly, beautiful views over the estuary and really helpful staff. Food was amazing and well-priced for the quality & location.
Final meal of the week. Food was truly amazing. I would highly recommend the upper deck burger! Awesome. The two ladies serving were also fantastic, accommodating the kids demands and always with a smile on there face. If you want a place to go and chill after a day on the beach then this is it.
We had a lovely meal here. We were a group of 8 and quite loud but the staff were great with us throughout. All the food was delicious and very fresh! Would definitely return!
Popped in a couple of times for a snack/coffee whilst staying in Rock. Lovely vibe - buzzy but not too noisy. Delicious chips (my children particularly raved about them!) and highly recommend the coffee. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the balcony has the best view over the estuary to Padstow.
Had coffee and cake, which was very good. Our host was very good to us, and the upper deck is very popular. So 5 stars. If you walk from Damer Bay it's great for a stop off.
The staff gave impeccable service, all smiles, making jokes and having a laugh with customers so I made sure to leave a tip, the view from the outdoor patio was stunning and the food was definitely worth the money, the place is dog friendly, would definitely come again if I was staying nearby and would recommend to anyone who asked for a nice place to eat nearby
Lovely place, just stopped for a beer. Very polite, friendly and efficient staff. Fantastic views across the Camel estuary towards Padstow. Couldn't rate the food as we didn't eat but it did look good!
Really enjoyable evening experience. Limited menu choice but it means what is cooked is done and presented extremely well. Nice to interact with staff and customers talking dogs even though sadly we have lost ours.
We went to have a quick drink and to feed the granddaughter, could not order food has they stop for a hour. But not a worry, loved the atmosphere shall come again next holiday. Thanks for making us welcome keep up the good work
This is a very relaxed, very friendly bar and restaurant. Eaten at Rick Steins seafood restaurant and The Mariners which are very good venues. But this place is a friendlier more relaxed place, and we really enjoyed it. If you want a drink on a balcony with a view or some very good food in relaxed surroundings definitely consider this place.
We came for lunch and we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived with our two dogs we were made to feel very welcome. We ordered two caesar salads and they were the best we have ever had! Would highly recommend this place.
Such a lovely lunch! My husband had a fantastic pastrami sandwich - sounds basic, but done well - it's the best sandwich in years! I had mackerel and fries - so lovely, well presented and extremely tasty. Lovely olives and wine. So welcoming, tasty with excellent service. Thanks Dan and the team (including Enzo) well done, we will be back for more!
Came here 4 years ago and fell in love with the place. Just been back and still fabulous! Amazing food, friendly helpful staff and STUNNING views. The best of Cornwall bottled up in one place. ❤️
The only reason l gave a four star overall was the people on the next table were extremely loud, the children were good, maybe the parents could learn from them. As the evening went on and they drunk more the voices were raised, eventually they went out onto the veranda. The meal was God as was the service, the drinks were a bit pricey but we were on Rock Cornwall so may have been expecting that. The overall experience was good though so would go again and hope for quieter neighbours.
A beautiful little bar/restaurant over in the very exclusive area of Rock. If you can get a table on the balcony, you have the most beautiful views across the estuary to take in. We only had a drink here but the food looked lovely. Friendly staff and dog friendly too. Right outside is the passenger ferry that shuttles across the estury over to Padstow. Parking is just a short walk further down the road from here
This restaurant has lovely views and atmosphere. The drinks were lovely. Some of the food for our larger group arrived slightly cold. Also the summer linguine arrived with no asparagus or capers. But overall a nice meal out and the servers were very friendly, attentive and helpful when asked about allergies.
This place has gone up several notches from previous owners and management. As always location is brilliant, food was superb, service from Rosie and Rupert was 5 star, laid back, professional, but extremely attentive. Never had to wait for a drink! Oh and very dog friendly as well which is a must for our family. Lift on site for my wife's 91 years young mother so no steps! Only thing that was annoying and I have to stress was not their fault directly but trying to book in advance on Opentable was abysmal, maybe try another provider or better still do it yourselves. Will be back many times on this trip!!! Well done!
We only stayed for a drink, but if you are visiting Rock Beach, it’s a great little stop! A large balcony seating area and indoor seating if you prefer. Dog friendly and well worth a visit
Most recent visit for lunch the staff were friendly and helpful. Would not have said it was overly busy but there where only 2 members of staff front of house so did a very good job keeping everyone happy!! Food selection was good with a bit of everything, however if you have special diet requments the menu might be slitly limited. Worth a visit for a bite to eat and a drink. Cracking view over the estuary.
Spent a lovely lunchtime here with my family of 5 and our dog. Staff were accomodating to us arriving 30 mins earlier than booked. Great location and views across the water. Food was lovely, good choices for lunch. Very friendly and relaxing.
Lovely views across to Padstow. A busy lively dog friendly restaurant. Food was nice but we did have to ask when it was going to arrive as there was a big gap after the starters. We were there for a birthday meal but was a little more casual than we had expected. Dietary needs were catered for including gluten free lager.
had a meal with my family on the outside terrace stunning views over the river camel the food and service good but meal spoiled by barking a disruptive dogs ,a familyon nearby table had to move, sadly that seems to be the norm these days dogs 1 humans 0
Disappointing - this was a lovely setting and the restaurant had been done up nicely - unfortunately my steak was very disappointing - overcooked, under seasoned, and cold - the sauce also was inedible (seemed like melted unsalted butter). I may have miss ordered as the chicken burger looked good and the fries were good but I have to review what I ate
Good food and great ocoation. But as a local who visits here regularly im gutted they have stopped serving Offshore. Will put review back to 5 stars when it it is reinstated.
The place was nice bit it took ages to order, ages for food to come and ages for the bill. People were being refused tables but if they were quicker we would have gone qnd a table would be available. Some of the staff seemed nice but the woman we had did not have time for us and was very grumpy. Everything seemed like we were an inconvenience and we had to ask for the bill again just to be snapped at that she was getting to it but we was sat there for a long time waiting for it and after being there far longer than expected we were just wanting to go.
We visited the restaurant this week and were really disappointed. The starters were okay but we waited 45mins for mains and found out they had forgotten about our mains. The mains arrived and the curry tasted like powder. The waitress kindly removed this from our bill and she was polite. The issues we experienced were definitely from the kitchen. We had got the ferry over from Padstow and had high hopes after reading the restaurants reviews. Perhaps we visited when they didn't have their normal chef working? Sadly the experience has put us off visiting again. If you are getting the ferry over from Padstow please be aware the return fair after a certain time goes up from £3 to £7.50 per person (although the ferry service is not run by the restaurant).
Very unwelcoming man on front desk when we tried to pop in for drinks today. I understand pub was full and you couldn’t be accommodate but a friendly tone and helpful approach would have been appreciated. Perhaps you’re in the wrong job
When we entered the restaurant we were warmly greeted and we were excited as we had been talking to folk who recommended the place. Oh dear, sadly our experience was quite disappointing. First of all they did not answer my email asking if they were dog friendly sent on the Monday, so called on the Thursday and they confirmed they were, so I booked a table for 2+1 dog on the terrace. We did not get a table on the terrace, but were advised if one comes available she would move us. A table did come available but another group moved and nothing was said. We got the menus after sitting at the table for around 5 minutes and within 30 seconds another waitress appeared and asked are we ready to order. I told her we just got the menus. After 10 plus minutes I asked a waitress about another customers food and said we were ready to order and was told be back in a minute. She never came back, but went on to serve other customers who sat down after us . Another 5 minutes passed, still no one offered any service and no drinks ordered or water offered. Around 25 minutes passed and we decided to leave and told them why. They made excuses about only 2 waitresses were serving. Some of the food looked good, but I cannot recommend this restaurant as the service was poor/non-existent.
Popped in on Monday early evening after a lovely day at Rock beach for refreshments. 2 adults and one dog. Unfortunately the man behind the bar had a bit of an attitude toward us when we were on our way to outside patio area to select a table. He was rather arrogant with a "I'm in charge" approach. Not the friendly welcome we were expecting therefore we took our business elsewhere.
I think they should change their name to Karen’s diner. Walked in at 3pm and waited as the signed advised us to do. This horrible person came over, “please could we have a table” the reply was only “drinks” I asked and food please and the reply. Kitchen closed and you only have an hour. You still want drinks. Yes please. Anywhere outside then. After that all was ok. This lovely lady dressed in normal clothes was extremely friendly and even said we were allowed to sit inside if it got too cold. Maybe the other lady was having a bad day or was really busy but frankly that is not my fault and shouldn’t have been treated like this.
Long wait times from taking order to each course being served. We saw people come and then leave the restaurant after waiting far too long. The acoustics inside the restaurant was strangely overbearing with lots of echo'ing around from screaming kids and louder customers. on other tables. Food was mediocre at best and the kitchen looked like it was being run by inexperienced young men - this was reflected in the quality. Sorry, I can not recommend this place to anyone, except for drinks and the view (outside).
