Love a set menu and this didn’t disappoint! We ate it all; smoked cod’s roe, spider crab, cured sea bass, hake, lobster dumpling, monkfish satay, turbot on the bone + a vanilla set cream with strawberries & lemon curd 😋 tapas-style and I’m still hungry 🤦 Eclectic wine list but keep it Cornish; Camel Valley Pinot Noir Rose Brut and Bacchus, Knightor Winery £80 pp + drinks
We were excited to come here after having a fantastic experience at one of Nathan Outlaw’s restaurants in London. The building itself is absolutely brilliant, just like the town of Port Isaac. It’s tiny and beautiful. We came in the great COVID pandemic of 2020 which meant there were only four tables and the staff wore visors, but they still were friendly and smiley, and spoke loud enough to hear through the PPE. Every course from the set menu was well presented and brilliantly executed, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. The main course of classic ‘scampi and chips’ had some fantastic twists (it was lobster with a chilli jam and chips with a garlic and herb mayo) that all came together perfectly. On top of everything the waiter served my mums dessert of heavenly baked cheesecake with a little candle in it for her birthday which made her smile. Cannot recommend enough.
Popped into the pub opposite for a pre dinner drink & some other customers told us the pub has the same fish supplier and we could get the same thing from them for much less… 😬😂 100% sure they are wrong - the meal was amazing, great service, lovely wine pairings and non alcoholic options for the driver. Fave dishes were the John Dory, squash side, the lobster salad but not a single dish wasn’t perfect. No notes.
Absolute seafood lunch-delight!! So tasty, incredible fixed menu, great super, beautiful interior. Totally worth it. Very unique experience for those who love seafood fine-dinning. Meringue dessert is to die for 🤤
What can I say, other than exceptionally fantastic! The system is shared portion for two size portions. There were four of us, we ordered four items from the menu and then another three. All were at least 9/10 and most were 10/10 for taste, presentation, originality and pure enjoyment. Cannot wait to go back again. Service today was eqully exveptional. It was a healthy size bill, but one happily paid!
As part of a package we had a reservation for dinner at the Fish Kitchen, somewhere we had not been before. This is a small restaurant with probably no more than 20 covers at a time, and there is a time limit of 90 minutes if you eat before 8.30m. There are only a couple of serving staff, which is more than adequate, and the portions are small and sharing style which suits the location perfectly. We had a table in an alcove, which allowed me to watch part of the kitchen, which was fun! Wine list is modest but with some very good wines, which are reasonably priced. The smoked Mackerel dip, Beetroot and sourdough toast was particularly good opening and set up the meal perfectly, before moving onto Cured Brill, Citrus, Fennel which I really enjoyed. Cured Gurnard, followed by Crispy Spiced Monkfish with red cabbage, continued the journey through fresh fish all landed locally. The star for me was the whole Dover Sole, on the bone with. Cornish Potatoes with garlic and lemon butter — perfection, we even got an extra portion of potatoes with a knowing smile from the staff, seems it happens fairly often. My wife generally does not like fish on the bone but she was very happy. After a brief break to finish the excellent bottle of locally produced Camel Valley white wine. A great desert was then brought out, Passion Fruit, Peanut and Vanilla Baked Alaska what a finish for a highly enjoyable dinner. Fresh mint tea to finish a perfect evening. This is a brilliant restaurant with a great team that provide a memorable evening. All for £55 a head plus wine ~ very readable! Organised taxi service to take us back to our accommodation in the area
Wonderful atmosphere. We had the fish kitchen to share menu ( which turned out to be all but one of the dishes a side and desert ). Service was very good and the food was exquisite. My favourite was the cured brill . The place is very small with only 8 tables . There is only one WC which is unisex , compact and quite impressive the way they have managed to fit the hand basin in . A must visit if you're a fish lover . From the cold dishes to desserts each dish was fantastic
What a wonderful find this was Right on the harbour, lovely fresh authentic cottage kitchen Excellent food and attentive, helpful service Just mind your head
Make sure you book as this amazing restaurant has only a few tables and does not open every day. Trust me you do not want to miss out! Seafood tapas was as magical as ever. Attentive and friendly service. Recommended Alvarino wine was a perfect match. As Port Isaac carnival was on we got an unexpected bagpipe and drum band outside on the quay. Our third visit and just amazing. We are already planning a fourth!
Amazingly good food. The tasting menu is the only option, however it is definitely worth it. The fish is noticeably fresh, with a lovely twist on styles of cuisine.
Food was excellent, innovative, staff were knowledgeable of both wine and food. They were also happy to answer any questions you had on the restaurant, food suppliers etc.
Fantastic food, quirky venue and attentive staff. A fabulous dining experience for all. Highlights for our table were the 'something sweet' baked alaska and the lemon butter dover sole from the specials menu.
Had a wonderful evening in this beautiful little spot in the heart of port Isaac. Food was amazing as was the service. The whole experience was fantastic - would highly recommend ❤️
Incredible seafood restaurant. The atmosphere is really cosy, but very chilled (which is nice compared to other restaurants of this standard). It’s a sharing menu with one course that you are able to pick based on the catch of the day. Food is simple and delicious, great wine menu plus the waiters and waitresses are really friendly. Can’t wait to visit again!
Wonderful food, had the tasting menu as there were six of us, one of my friends is gluten and dairy intolerant but this caused no problems at all. Enjoyed every dish and tried things I would not normally have ordered. Staff were lovely and very knowledgeable regarding the fish. I would highly recommend this dining experience. Port Isaac is delightful and looked lovely even in the dark. Do consider a taxi if visiting in the winter or poor weather as the car park is a bit of a walk up the hill.
Utterly faultless. From the welcome, to the attentive service, and to the food, there was nothing that you could criticise. Yes, it's expensive, but you get what you pay for and actually, in this case, a lot more.
Faultless food and service. Nothing was missing or added that didn't belong. Worthy of every accolade and one of my top 10 favourite meals, ever. Will definitely return.
Having lunch at Outlaw's Fish Kitchen was a well earned treat for our baby moon. The front of house team were incredibly welcoming and knowledgable about the dishes and made sure my heavily pregnant wife was able to enjoy the dishes appropriate for her. As you can see from the photos the food was incredible and the subtley of the fish always shone through throughout. The restaurant was relatively small but cosy and if you sit in the window like we did you can see the harbour outside. Well worth a visit if you're willing to push the boat out.
Small, special, delicious. Wonderful staff, superb food. This is a tasting menu, not tapas!!!
The food are amazing and very good quality, just a bit overpriced for small portions
A seafood experience! The set menu is brilliant and the portion sizes are just right. Looked after very well by the staff.
Stunning food in a lovely little restaurant right on the quayside. Service was excellent. Great experience for the family.
Absolute excellent. Some inventive dishes and always excellent produce. Great service and beautiful location.
Superb meal, would highly recommend. 4 of us dined for the last evening sitting and upon arriving were greeted by polite and knowledgeable staff who walked us through the menu and took our drinks. We opted to get one of every dish to start and each dish was absolutely delicious; my personal favourite being the ginger cured mackerel. We ended up ordering additional dishes after trying them all. Portion sizes were fine and after a few hours we left very impressed and suitably full. I want to call out specifically the staff and service which was fantastic. I have gluten and dairy dietary requirements which we informed them of in advance and they walked me through how the chef could adapt each dish or create specific seperate dishes for me so that the others could still enjoy the plates that were dairy or gluten based. They created specific dishes for the bread, potato side and dessert plates which was a pleasant suprise as it meant I could eat almost everything on the menu. All in all, delicious fish dishes and superb service. Would love to go back.
We did the fish kitchen to share and thoroughly enjoyed the dishes. Mackerel dip was full flavoured and the pickled cucumber went very well, cured brill was done well, both hake and monk fish was so light moist and devine. The lemon sole was great, although a little too much butter for me, and the baked alaska was dreamy x I would defo go again. Service was friendly and helpful, thank you!
We had a wonderful meal at Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen last Thursday lunchtime. Excellent food and wine with great front of house staff. Would recommend the lobster to everyone, especially as we could see the boat that had caught it that morning. Having spent the week in Padstow and having eaten at many of the excellent restaurants Padstow has to offer, we can easily say Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen was our favourite of the holiday! If you are in Cornwall and enjoy your food and wine, put it on your list please.
There's more to Port Isaac than Doc Martin; Outlaw's Fish Kitchen being one of them! With great views across the harbour and fish fresh off the boat, the fish kitchen is a must for any 'foodie' visiting Cornwall. Standout dishes were the sea bass, pepper cured monk dish, soused mackerel and crispy hake, but there are no 'fillers' on this menu, just 'killers'. Service was great, although expect to serve your own wine and water as there won't be the wine service you would expect from a Michelin Star restaurant. Enjoy the views and exceptional food at this great restaurant!
Outlaw's Fish Kitchen offers a selection of fish dishes paired with seasonal cocktails. We started with a selection of oysters which included crispy oysters, pickled oysters and plain oysters to enjoy with a topping of choice. These oysters were easily the tastiest I've ever had. The selection of dishes we had were each carefully crafted and tasted great. We shared a lobster which is rich in flavour and covered in a delicious butter sauce. The staff were extremely welcoming and so friendly. If you find yourself visiting Port Isaac I recommend Outlaw's Fish Kitchen, but book ahead as this small and cosy establishment books up in advance!
Made a booking weeks prior to my trip to Cornwall and is pleased to say that Nathan Outlaw has successfully delivered some of the best seafood dishes I’ve had in the UK. Located in the middle of the quaint Port Issac and in a historic Grade-I building, diners are immediately transported to a cozy, welcoming setting where servers ensured that every part of the experience feels like a homage to home. FOOD REVIEW: Crispy Porthilly Oyster, Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato - 5/5⭐️ Panko-crusted and deep fried, creamy in the inside with a perfect crunchy exterior. While the crisp lettuce cuts through the richness of the oyster, the acidity of the tomato balances out the oiliness of the dish, resulting in a flavour explosion that will certainly be remembered. Crispy Cuttlefish, saffron mayonnaise - 2.5/5⭐️ Unfortunately underwhelming as it was over-seasoned and slightly overcooked. Expectations were high but this dish struggled to deliver. Baked Free-Dived Scallop, Orange & Rosemary Butter - 4.5/5⭐️ The scallop was cooked to perfection and covered in buttery, aromatic sauce packed with freshness. Harbourside Feast - 5/5⭐️ A feast that leaves you with a smile on your face. The Poseidon’s Pot alone deserves a Michelin star - lobster, octopus and red mullet cooked in the heartiest seafood broth, soaking up all the aromatic flavours and leaving you wanting for more. Other highlights included in the set are the pickled anchovies, steamed lobster dumplings and that extremely soft sourdough to soak up all the sauces. Such a value for money considering the variety of dishes included in the set and how every single one was to die for. Basil Cream, Strawberry, Oat Crumble - 3/5⭐️ Projection of the basil flavour unfortunately on the weaker side but overall a pleasant way to cleanse the pallet and wrap up the meal. FOOD: 4.5/5⭐️ SERVICE: 5/5⭐️ ATMOSPHERE: 5/5⭐️ OVERALL: 4.75/5⭐️
I did not expect this level of restaurant in Port Isaac. Beyond doubt some of the most outstanding seafood I've ever eaten, coupled with a relaxed and friendly service in a historic location. Perfection. The harissa scallops and the lobster were the absolute highlight!
Probably the best dining experience I’ve had in the UK. The dinner my friend and I had here was superb. We had the tasting menu with lobster and everything was perfectly prepared, the Cornish wine was fantastic, and the staff were wonderful.
Exceptional seafood in beautiful tiny restaurant in the heart of Port Isaac. I visited in May with my partner and family. We were very excited in advance and were not disappointed. All the dishes were outstanding as well as the service and ambience of the restaurant which is small and intimate. The focus of the restaurant is sustainable fishing and local produce. Standout dishes were the lobster rice balls with orange and basil mayonnaise, the cured monkfish and the dessert of basil custard with strawberries and oat crumble. Fantastic wine selection and knowledgeable waiters/hosts. Highly recommend!
My husband and I made an online reservation before arriving in Port Isaac, and, I'm glad we did. Outlaws is truly a fine dining experience that every foodie must try! The set menu allows the diner to experience an array of flavors and textures, and the small plate portions make it possible to fully enjoy each course. The cozy, bright interior provides an intimate setting perfect for couples. A stone's throw from the Port provides a beautiful view that enhances the whole experience. Each course was artistically presented, and introduced me to flavor combinations I'd never imagined. I was truly moved by the craftsmanship and attention to detail in every dish. Outlaws is hands down one of the best places I've ever been.
Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen - 2nd visit and enjoyed another wonderful evening with amazing food, cocktails, wine and service. Picture perfect plates of food that excite the palate. This is a great place for lunch or dinner. If you are in Port Isaac go and check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
Where to begin! Very cute little space but you don’t feel cramped at all. Great location in the heart of Port Isaac. The menu is just fantastic. So fresh and varied and inventive. Everything was cooked perfectly. Lovely wine list. The two women who served us were amazing. So warm, helpful and very efficient. The whole experience was nothing but seamless. I cannot recommend this place enough!
Stunning food. Every single dish was absolute perfection. Incredibly fresh fish. The tasting menu is great as it meant I could try several different fish. (I'm unable to eat lobster and so had a lovely piece of red mullet instead.) I couldn't pick a favourite dish. They were all equally delicious, for different reasons. The Greek wine complemented the fish perfectly. The Cornish limoncello was equally lovely. You have to go.
Dinner. Within a Grade II listed 15th century fisherman’s cottage overlooking the harbour and the sea. There's not many decent restaurants open on a Monday night, unusually this is. Bookings are either 6.00pm or 8.30pm. The earlier time slot was full and we managed to get in for the later time. It is basically two sittings, as it's a very small restaurant with only 8 tables. Whatever you do,don't arrive early as they will not let you in until your time. Of course we were early and had a drink in the pub opposite anxiously waiting for the door to open. When booking,we thought it looked cheap at £95 a head for a One Michelin Star restaurant. Having a second look at our reservation,we realised it was for a sharing menu. So, it's a tasting menu to share and you get to chose off what's called 'When the boat comes in' board for the main course. Which is the catch of the day. You start off with 3 nibbles,Scallop tartare, cured monkfish, smoked trout with warm bread and butter. Followed by 3 seafood plates,Crab & heritage tomatoes,a nice peice of Bass and a breaded Hake. From the board we chose the Turbot on the bone. Cooked to perfection with a beautiful butter and herb sauce, served with a fresh anchovy and tomato salad. Looking round at the other tables, everyone else had chosen the lobster. Well we like to be different, and Lobster is a little overated in our opinion anyway. Dessert was a refreshing strawberry and elderflower cream with an oat crumble. The food is simple, but yet effective and delicious. Staff are very friendly and professional. We were all done and dusted in the space of two hours, from start to finish. It didn't feel rushed,it's just a very slick service. Would we return? Yes, in a heartbeat.
Fantastic in every way. But most importantly, the food here is 10/10, great quality produce, cooked perfectly. All three of us agreed every dish was lovely, and we especially enjoyed the rhubarb dessert! This place is a must visit if you’re down in Port Isaac!
Fantastic experience. Tiny restaurant with only 4 tables during our visit (thanks to coronavirus) but a warm welcome and excellent service throughout. Only a set menu available, but that made the experience better as it just meant the food served was based around what had been freshly caught. There was a good variety of dishes, and the whole experience was more relaxed and casual than your typical Michelin-starred dining experience. Access into Port Isaac is on foot via a relatively steep hill, so be warned. It is quite picturesque though...
Nathan Outlaws Fish Kitchen is a bright oasis of life, in the ghost town, that Port Isaacs resembles out of season. Probably my 5th or 6th visit to this cute, compact little restaurant. I've never been disappointed, the food was absolutely exquisite, the service faultless and the atmosphere welcoming. Thank you to all the staff inside & outside of the kitchen 😀
Stunningly good food. Location is indescribable - the photos don't do it justice. You're literally sat in a little fisherman's cottage - I could hardly stand up - and served food like you're visiting family. Our menu had a distinctively Mexican feel which was a nice surprise.
We celebrated our engagement at outlaws fish kitchen, the meal and service was amazing! Stand out dish was the nduja scallops, can’t wait to come back!
Visited yesterday for my birthday and I was so impressed- the best dining experience I’ve ever had. I have a nut allergy and I am always wary eating out, but we informed them ahead of time and when we arrived our server assured us there was no nuts on the premises. One of the chefs actually came out and served us our first course and told me he had a nut allergy as well which really reassured me. The service was phenomenal and the food exceptional. I will definitely return 😄
We had the most wonderful evening, with delicious fish dishes (we can also recommend their suggested wine!) The restaurant ambience was calm with gentle music in the background and the staff were delightful, engaging and professional. Would thoroughly recommend.
Outlaws fish kitchen is a wonderful little spot in the heart of port Isaac. It’s very casual and laid back but the dishes are prepared with the deft hand of a Michelin starred chef. They pay homage to classic fish kitchens even writing the days catch on the white board. It’s simple. It’s delicious. It’s as laid back as a Cornwall afternoon on the beach.
The food was amazing but came in a very small portion. We wish we could get more as it was so expensive. Overall we spent over £100 for two people. Other than that, everything was amazing, the atmosphere, service, and view.
Lovely experience with very attentive and friendly service. We did however both leave feeling like there was a distinct lack of carbohydrates! The seabass main course was sublime but it was served with a side salad that was for one person, not two. Perhaps double the salad size or serve with some potatoes!
Our fourth visit to the Fish Kitchen and our first disappointment ,sadly. We usually leave the restaurant saying ' wow ' , but this time the usually exquisite food was a little clumsy and heavy. The cured brill was the highlight but most of the other dishes were good pub standard. Unfortunately we will not risk £300 ( with a bottle of wine to be fair ) on what may not be fab.
Led to our table by a waiter who confused stiffness for poise, we were told to pick our main from a board offering just two options—one with a surcharge, which felt a bit cheeky given the already steep price. A procession of beautifully manicured fish plates followed—three at once, then a fourth for dramatic effect. A couple were excellent, the rest merely pleasant. Still hungry, we eagerly awaited the main. With a flourish fit for a seafood banquet, a lonely piece of fish appeared, flanked by a meagre bowl of salad. Sadly the fish was slightly overcooked, the sauce doing most of the heavy lifting. We left stylishly underwhelmed and underfed.
Cold environment. I would rather they did something internally to cut out the cold from the windows other than hand over a blanket. It is possible to have non permanent internal fixtures for windows in cottages that are non intrusive to help keep out the cold. The food was cooked nicely but very little choice other than fish stew or small plates, or take out a small loan for fish of the day. The food was nicely cooked and prepared but the cost of £250 for lunch for 2, for what we had is quite frankly ridiculous (this includes the cheapest bottle of wine and a 10% tip). It was not a pleasant experience because we were cold, and although the food was cooked well it was not worthy of the price tag. We have eaten at Nathan’s a few times before and booked a foodie getaway holiday once, visiting both restaurants as a treat. It has never been cheap but we usually felt there was value attached to the price tag. However, the price for lunch yesterday was excessive. I treated my husband and felt a little frustrated as I do not believe we had good value for our money. Sorry but I don’t think we will dine here again.
