Always a great place for the whole family !! My kids LOVE it here.

Lubys has been around for years but is still a good place to eat. Food has pretty much stayed the same, good and hot. It's like comfort food because what you expect to find is always there. Had fried fish platter, always delicious and fresh.

I came in with my mom for her birthday. I have been away from Texas for over 20 years and this place is still amazing. Granted they have moved to this new place. The food was hot, tasty and the customer service was exceptional. You can tell families make memories here, the ambience is positive, plenty of seating and if you have to wait, It will be brief, oh and make sure to get cash back tip if you are only paying with your card. Servers deserve their tips. I will come back here for sure!

We had a large group of 12 and the servers were outstanding with arranging tables to accommodate us and keeping glasses filled. Food was very good and proportions were generous even on the Luanne plates. Highly recommend.

This restaurant was remodeled few years ago. And it looks awesome now! The quality of the food is much better than before. It was good before but now it is even better. Definitely the best "All American Buffet" chain out there!! Food is fresh, warm and prepared the way you would make it at home. The one in Pharr is nice, clean and customer service is good. Prices are extremely reasonable and they have deals all the time.

I always eat the fried fish with corn and cabbage salad. Luby's food is simply delicious.

Called in an order for lunch, was simple & convenient order. My plate was ready and warm when I arrived. They have to go parking for quick in & out access. Got liver and onions plate with 2 sides, broccoli & cheese and the other was sweet potato. The jalapeño bread roll has a good kick to it. Portions are ample for a hearty lunch, I personally save half for left overs.

Variety fresh cooked food is impressive. The dining room is cafeteria style. So that is the atmosphere rating. Table service was fantastic, with wait staff buzzing by every few minutes with refills. Locals love this place .

As a child, Luby's was a treat and we would make it a family outing. I remember waiting in line for over an hour but it was well worth it. The food was excellent and the customer service was incredible. It's just not the case anymore. That personal touch is no longer there. The food is still as good as I remember it, but it's become a bit pricy. I usually get takeout from Luby's but we decided to dine in during this last visit. The dining room was not very clean. Many empty tables had dirty dishes, and we had to flag someone down to get us drink refills and to-go boxes. Not the best experience.

The quality at Luby's has really gone down compared to how it used to be. Over all the food was OK, but it lacked flavor. I would still recommend it if you're feeling nostalgic.

Dad invited me out to Lubys for lunch, we went to the one that is on Jackson and the expressway. At Lubys you don't use menus or menu boards, the food is already prepared, you just tell the attendants what you want and they plate it up for you. Dad had a half portion of Chicken fried Steak with a side of Cabbage and a side of sweet potatoes plus a roll. I opted for the Baked fish Almondine with tarter sauce. I added a side of spinach and one of sauteed kale. (I wanted to get my greens on) I also added a link of sausage and some grilled onions with a grilled jalapeno to accompany the sausage. I added a piece of cornbread and some butter pats to round it all off. Honestly it was really good, the spinach was a little bland, but all in all it was a hit. Dad tore his plate up and some of my sausage as well. I had not been to Lubys in years, but I guarantee it won't be long till I go again. One reason is I could not decide between the fish and the Chicken fried Chicken. The Chicken looked so inviting, all golden brown, and crispy looking. I almost ordered both but the portions would have been too much. But like I said, it gives me a reason to go back, and the Mac and cheese is another reason. See ya soon Lubys!!

I have a highly sensitive stomach, for spoiled food or wrong temperatures ,food being inappropriately handled with meat temperatures not being where they should be, because of bad training techniques or managers who just suck at what they do to save a buck. With that said my dinner experience last night was so good I had to leave a review. I had pork! Of all things you don’t want to eat with a sensitive stomach, mine was absolutely prepared and rested properly. How do I know? I wasn’t running looking for the closest stalls a hour later. The mashed potatoes and brown gravy must’ve been fresh as well as the freshness of mushrooms I had. Another trigger by the way for people like me. I also had a very green salad. Along with corn. My desert was a beautiful banana pie. Im writing this because not only will I be back. But telling everyone where to go for a great meal. Im a truck driver. You may not think of us as widely educated in these matters. But I went to cooking school for 3 years. We travel a lot. We know the difference. Thank you Lubys.

Sunday 11/30/25 There was a piece of broken dish in my macaroni and cheese that I bit down on injuring my molar, I alerted the staff and they seemed very nonchalant and unbothered by it. I would have made more of an attempt to file a complaint but we have to go. I would be very careful when taking small children and advise you to check your food. Update: i’d like to thank the district manager Rocky. He was very helpful and rectified the situation.

I have two separate opinions about luby's. One, the food is very good and I can see you the other patrons were truly enjoying themselves. Two, since this is a cafeteria style establishment it is very noisy and for a person's, like me, who we're hearing devices it makes holding the conversation quite cumbersome. Still, I enjoyed the food and there's definitely something to be said for that.

Many of you may not care about this particular review because Luby's is my go-to place for liver and onions. Generally, it's made very well and quite tasty however at this particular store in pharr it was dry and tough, so not sure where they're getting their meat from but it was not up to the normal Luby standards. It could be that they don't sell a lot of liver and onions at this store but it is kind of a staple at every Luby's and most of the ones that I've been to sell a lot of it. The slaw and the cooked kale dish were excellent. I will say that service was excellent the people waiting on you at the table were attentive and there wasn't anything that I could want so that's why I gave it a four-star because the service and atmosphere were good.

Luby's has always been a great place but lately on several occasions at the Pharr TX establishment, I've been seeing flies around the food that's being served and the employees serving the food are way too busy to get rid of them. This is a manager's responsibility to assign someone to take care of this sort of problem.

It was my first time trying lubys. They should consider labeling what everything is.. I felt like the servers were unhelpful and just served what ever because I was asking what steak was what. He served me some big brown thing with purple stuff inside and white gooey stuff. I got grossed out by it honestly. The waitress, she gave actual service for everyone but us. We were respectful, willing to tip, she reached over and grabbed out plates with no manners, not even asking if we were done. She never asked us for refills but asked people who came after us. She treated us as if we weren't there. I and my spouse will not be back to this location. He told me the other location was better and the servers actually told you each thing was. I'm usually not a complainer but this place was just not good.

In bringing home my Thanksgiving holiday order, they packed pies on top of the mashed potatoes cauing it to leak out of container and all over half my back seat. Now, I'm gonna have to take it in to get the stain cleaned somehow. DO NOT PUT PIES ON TOP OF MASHED POTATOES!!!!

😢 Let me start by saying, we are huge Luby's fans. From my Sunday-after-church childhood traditions to family dinners over the years, we have always made Luby's a regular choice. Until today, it's been as dependable as the traditions themselves. Everyone ordered their regular favorite and everyone was disappointed ☹️. The sweet tea and new 🥔 potatoes were the only thing that tasted familiar. The mash potatoes were my first disappointing bite they lacked flavor and tasted gritty, maybe it was just today i thought. Their was still hope I had my 2nd side, the famous Mac and cheese 🧀 it would redeem my plate for sure. 😭😭😭 One bite and I was in disbelief, it tasted horrible. My family thought 💭 at first it was just me but then they tasted their food and simultaneously a sigh 😔 of disappointment covered our table. We sent our sides back and felt bad but the waiter informed us that we were the 3rd family today to say the same. After analyzing each dish that was different than the way we remember it, I would guess somewhere someone is cutting costs. If I had to pick one ingredient that I think was being cut back on I would pick butter 🧈. I'm not sure if this is just a local change or a change from the new corporate offices. Ultimately if you wanted to know what a healthier Luby's taste like you've got it, tasteless. If anything changes please make a big public announcement 📣 so we can try again.

Well I had to stop by one last time before this location is closed. I’m sorry to say that I was adult disappointed. The main course and bread were mediocre while the sides were the sides were great as usual. Now the service was horrible. I waited 15 minutes for a straw and butter for my rolls until I finally got up and found some on my own. I wasn’t offered a single refill either. It is definitely time for Luby’s to close its doors.

1. Parking lot way too small. People were waiting in the driving lanes for a spot to open up. 2. Very long lines. Even at 12:15 on a weekday, that's just ridiculous. 3. Very noisy. 4. Even though meatloaf was clearly listed on at least 2 menu boards, when I finally got up to the serving line they said they didn't have any.

1/23/25 6PM - Luby's in Pharr, TX - Not sure who is the manager but it's very disorganized, the food is cold and had an after taste, salads are in plastic containers which I couldn't eat comfortably, background music were both 80's and Cubias/Racheras and loud which also just took away from the peaceful dinning -in that Luby's represented which felt more like a topical Mexican restaurant, booth seats were uncomfortable toren and dirty. It's a nice building but current management is neglecting Luby's signature of a classic dinning.

It was our first time trying lubys ,unfortunately entering we weren't attended or guided to get our food. The waitresses were gossiping, if we hadn't approached them we wouldn't have know where to go. I was over charged on a meat as a full combo when I had just wanted the meat itself. Supposedly I had chosen the juiciest Pork chop, to later find out it was dry and hard, knife struggled to cut right through. another person complained as well for the same reason, he wanted his refund, but waitress denied, and gave him the only option to chose something else for the same value. Waitress hardly checked on us , fruit seemed to be old and oxidated with dark areas, leaking juice. Food was overpriced for the quality and service.

Through the years I’ve known that Luby’s is most popular for senior citizens. Therefore I believe they should limit the salt and spices on the meat items. They should have more grilled selections. Food was cold. Experienced glasses fall to to floor and workers put them back on the shelf. Waitress seemed to not care. This Luby's does compare to the Luby's on north 10th Street.

Ordered last night and had plate missing. Gave them the benefit of doubt, since I didn’t make sure I had my completed order before leaving, and ordered again today. Upgraded multiple plates with premium sides only not to receive them, and all they did was try to smooth it out with a cake.

I had an awful experience at Luby's, not as a customer, but after witnessing how the employees are treated. Management is incredibly disrespectful and rude to their customers and it's clear they have no regard for their staff's well-being. Employees deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and it’s clear that Luby’s management falls far short of this standard. This kind of behavior not only affects the morale of the staff but also reflects poorly on the entire establishment. I hope Luby's takes serious steps to address this issue and improve their treatment of its customers and employees. I wont be coming back.

I've always liked Lubys but lately my favorite chicken baked plate has lost flavor. The chicken is cold and stiff to chew. Mashed potatoes and macaroni were good. The service staff is still good at giving refills and maintaining clean tables
