So happy this place opened in the neighborhood. They offer authentic dishes like Chongquing chicken that we used to have to drive to Tempe for. The food was excellent - got the Chongquing chicken, pork dumpling, green beans with ground pork, and water boiled beef (a new one for us). Plenty of more Americanized - Chinese offerings too! Service was super attentive and friendly. Thank you!
Price, taste, and service was on point can't go wrong with the 11$ lunch special 😋 come with a soup and a spring roll i will definitely be back ohhh and the veggies soup is soooo good
So we tried this place for the first time and it was amazing! The spicy chicken was okay but the general tso's chicken was the best I have ever had in my life! Not even joking... The flavor was top notch and the chicken fried rice was good as well. But I will definitely be going back to try the general tso's chicken again it really was the best I have ever had.
Food is amazing and service was great. Best orange chicken you’ll ever have, VERY fresh citrus flavor. Amazing.
Had a late lunch with Mongolian Beef (amazing marinade/flavor) and Shrimp Chow Main (old school favorite) both prepared perfectly and tasty delivered hot! Hot and Sour soup was the bomb! This is a sleeper restaurant with kind staff and some of the best Chinese food hands down!
We have ordered from here several times and are always impressed. We've never been to China, but we do eat a lot of Chinese carry-out and do the China-towns in Chicago, NYC, SanFran etc on a regular basis. This place is amazing. I feel comfortable ordering old favorites as well as exploring new items. The only thing we didn't love were their shrimp in a couple of combo dishes. So we now just stick with other meats. A couple of favorites so far are the KungPao and Water Boiled Beef - which doesn't sound all that exciting from the name, but is really really delicious! Oh, & we also absolutely love their Egg Foo Young!
We'll come back best food I tasted your Curry was good my wife had the shrimp lo mein was really really good at atmosphere was good
I had Szechwan Kitchen Chinese food for the first time over the weekend. I chose delivery and was happily stunned at how hot my food was. My order consisted of: Kung Pow Chicken & Dan Dan noodles. The portions were huge and VERY delicious. I believe this is the BEST Chinese restaurant in Midtown Phoenix., and possibly in the whole Phoenix area. I give Szechwan Kitchen five stars and more !!!
Szechwan Kitchen is such a great find! I had never had Chinese food like this before. I thought I didn’t like Chinese food but turns out I don’t like Am ericanized Chinese food 😂 the mapu tofu is delicious and silky(pictured). The crispy chicken is excellent (pictured) The water boiled beef is also fantastic. I’m not a huge spicy lover and at first I was afraid to try it because of all the peppers. But the spice is different than anything I’ve experienced before. The servers are also very friendly and helpful when trying to decide. The only thing is I wish they had their liquor license or allowed BYOB. The spicy food just pairs so well 😅 Thank you Szechwan Kitchen for your unique flavors!!
My friends and I went to this newly opened restaurant last Friday night and absolutely love every dish we ordered! The chongqing spicy chicken, spicy combo, house fooyung, and house fried rice are all must tries! Other than the perfect taste. You get the large portion with the most fair price! And service was friendly and great too! Will recommend to everyone who loves Chinese food!
An unforgettable culinary journey! The Sichuan restaurant dazzles with its authentic flavors, vibrant atmosphere, and exceptional service. Each dish is a masterpiece, perfectly balancing the signature heat and complexity of Sichuan cuisine. A must-visit for anyone craving a true taste of China. Five stars!
I went in here for the first time and I really enjoyed it: the food was amazing! The service was great. The atmosphere was clean and decorative, aligned with a bar to the side of the front entrance.
Best spicy chicken I ever had in the valley. It’s so crispy and flavorful ! We ordered couple things for dinner, fried rice, boiling fish, egg fu young, the taste is authentic, and they’re using really fresh ingredients. The server is really nice and thoughtful. Will definitely come back soon.
Definitely will come back again!!! The boiled fish is sooo good and it’s the most tender fish I’ve ever had around the area. The Chongqing spicy chicken is also a must have. It’s crispy and seasoned just perfectly. Would recommend to all of my friends who want to try authentic Szechuan flavor dishes.
This place is Amazing!!! 5 STARS🔥 I write this as I eat my orange chicken, house lo mein and fried rice leftovers!! We’re new to this area and have been exploring new restaurants. I think this is the best Chinese food we have ever had. A big claim I know but just try this place and you’ll see what I’m talking about. We picked up a to go order - Ambiance was clean. Service was excellent and fast. Food was hot and delicious. I just want to say whoever is cooking here or to the owner.. you are a treasure to the community!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH. We will be back to enjoy more. 10/10 Highly Recommend! What we got: Pork fried rice, House lo mein, Orange Chicken, Walnut Shrimp, Crab puffs 🌟🔥
Juan was an amazing server. Very attentive and absolutely knew the menu and gave great suggestions. The house egg fu young and house noodles were large servings and the appetizers were freshly made! I am beyond full and have plenty of take home food for later!
Amazing orange chicken. Mongolian beef was also very good.

It had been a couple years since we dined at Szechuan Kitchen, but we had such good memories that we decided to order there for a takeout party for six. The restaurant was clean and bright, our order was ready and well packed when we arrived, staff friendly and welcoming. And when we ate, everyone was thrilled with their choices. Delicious spices, fresh food, excellent all around. We’ll definitely be back soon.
We have only done takeout from here and delivery. This is our new favorite Chinese place. The food is so amazing. Everything we’ve ever gotten is phenomenal. Service is great easy access parking lot. The soup dumplings are out of this world. The spicy soup dumplings are just life-changing. Let’s Continue tosupport this local gem
I have eaten here a few times now (both dine-in and take out) and it’s been perfect every single time. Their orange chicken is the best orange chicken I have ever had in Arizona! Also the dumplings in the spicy sauce and dandan noodles are a must. Glad I found this place, their consistency has made me a forever customer!
Enjoyed my lunch here. Came by on a Weekday. The music was soothing. The place was clean. Staff was friendly and polite. Portion was generous. And price was good.

Came here for lunch today and ordered the orange chicken lunch special and kung pao chicken. Both were good. Hot and fresh ingredients. My only comment on the food is that the kung pao had peas and didn’t have any peanuts. Just unusual for a kung pao chicken and I hate peas. The lunch is a great value though and this is a huge step up from the previous Chinese restaurant in that location! Also, please order some sambal oelek chili paste for a condiment.
Szechwan Kitchen | Review by Tony $ Rating: ★★★★☆ I recently dined with my family of 6 at Szechwan Kitchen and had a delightful experience. This restaurant is an excellent choice for group settings, making it perfect for family gatherings or meals with friends. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the seating arrangements accommodate large parties comfortably. The food was fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the shrimp 🍤 with lobster 🦞 sauce, which was rich and flavorful, and the sweet and sour chicken, which had the perfect balance of tangy🍊and sweet. The portions were generous, and each dish was beautifully presented. The service was very friendly and attentive. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in and were quick to address any requests we had. Their hospitality definitely added to the positive experience. The only downside was that the restaurant was a bit hotter than I prefer, which made it slightly uncomfortable at times. However, this was a minor issue in an otherwise enjoyable visit. Overall, Szechwan Kitchen offers delicious Chinese food with great service, and it's definitely worth a visit for anyone looking for a satisfying dining experience.
The wonton soup and the eggrolls were very good, and my husband liked the kung pao chicken (spicy!). I had the sesame beef, which was described on the menu as coming the “Chef’s special brown sauce”, so I was surprised when it came out with a super sweet honey sauce. I didn’t mind the super sweet sauce, but my husband wasn’t crazy about it. The beef was a bit overcooked and dried out, so it needed the sauce. Service was great!
On the weekend me and my wife came to this location for the first time to give it a try based on reviews we saw the food was good but the service was not that great they forgot to bring water and never gave us napkins They needed more training and looked like they were new. Other than that everything is good I recommend this place
Great find! Super friendly staff, nice atmosphere, the food was yummy and just enough spice (I could go spicier) reasonable prices, had Green tea and Hot tea with it. Nice parking lot on the side. Will definitely repeat when in the area, and explore other items on the menu. Ask for the Chinese Version Menu - I believe it has more options. Food was prepared in a very timely manner and promptly served.
Since the new owners opened this restaurant, I’ve been back multiple times. The house fried rice is very flavorful and not mushy, the orange chicken is okay, but the real winner is the dumplings in spicy sauce! The dumplings are very big, tender and with lots of filling. The sauce/soup is very flavorful. If you like medium spice I think you’ll enjoy these! The spice is not overwhelming, it mostly comes from the smokiness of the peppers they use. Overall, the dishes I have tried have been great! Ordering on the app is easy and service is quick.
Chinese food is back in the Melrose district of Phoenix. I had last been here once when it was a different Chinese restaurant a while back. Gone are the huge fish tanks of the old restaurant to a more clean open space. Unfortunately in our visit they did not have the pork needed for the dish my hubby ordered (twice cooked pork). We started with their Pork Dumplings in spice sauce as well as hot and sour soup. Both good but most other places put shrimp in their hot and sour soup which was missing since it was not the basic version some places may include with your meal. For our mains I ordered the Szechwan Chicken which I felt was really good. My hubby settled for Mongolian Beef after being told a 2nd pork dish could not be made. The Mongolian Beef was good but I am partial to another restaurant that has by far the best version of this dish. We will definitely return to hopefully try some of the pork dishes we carved for. Overall food was good and flavorful!
After a long day at an event, my family and I decided to unwind at Szechwan Kitchen in Phoenix. We ordered some of everything—house fried rice, lo mein, crab rangoons, and the Happy Family specialty dish. Everything was delicious, and I hit the spot after a busy day! The only slight hiccup was that my egg drop soup came out a bit cold, but as soon as I mentioned it, the staff quickly fixed it with no hassle: excellent service, delicious food, and a cozy spot to end the day. We’ll be back for more!
Today, I came in & had broccoli beef for lunch. It wasn't what I expected. I thought it would be better. I think if I order something else next time, I'll be more satisfied. The service and presentation were awesome. I will be back. Thank You
Wow stopped by tonight for dinner after many years of not considering this restaurant due to the old owner/ management. The new owner/management has cleaned up the restaurant and it is very welcoming and the food is delicious it reminded me of the east coast Chinese menus that I missed for many years! Congratulations to the new management my only criticism would be to hire more servers so then I could give a full 5 stars over all! We will definitely comeback!
Coming from the east coast I’m super picky about my Chinese and this was just… okay. Firstly their lo mein is extremely dry and lacks flavor, which was my main reason for coming. Fried rice was good! And the stirfry was just ok. Good prices and delivery!

Mongolian Beef had more onions than beef. They are using cheaper ingredients than before. I spend $68 on 4 items. Orange Chicken: Almost too much breading and not enough orange and not enough spiciness. Portions are smaller than when they opened.
Ordered Mapo Tofu and green beans. Wasn’t a fan of the Mapo Tofu and was surprised this dish gets so many rave reviews. The flavor seemed off. The green beans had a good texture but not the best I’ve had. Order was ready very quickly and staff were nice. Lunch came with a spring roll.

Average, somewhat bland. Dumplings were middle of the road. Soup was decent. Nice family run restaurant, polite staff. Had to wait a bit for my order but they were busy
Always loved the food however customer service leaves much to be desired for. Multiple times items have been left out of the order and gentleman said he could do nothing about it. Recommend the food not the ownership.
I got the beef lo mein. Not good. Not even the pork egg rolls were good. I got iced tea in a kid cup size cup and it was $3.49, and it was not good. The egg drop soup was decent at least.
We ordered in and got $70 worth of inedible food. Crab puffs were damn near burnt. Very undercooked egg foo young. It was like slimy rubber. Dumplings in hot sauce was nothing like the depiction.
I visited Szechwan Kitchen on 602 Day, excited to try the orange chicken recommended by a friend. While the staff was okay and offered some suggestions, I ran into an issue when I was about to pay. They informed me after I ordered that they had lost internet and only accepted cash, which was inconvenient. I didn’t have time to deal with that, so we decided to go elsewhere. Disappointing experience overall.
It's a shame that I have to make this post. I have been a regular customer for a long time and have enjoyed their food, but I just can't excuse this. Last take out order was mapo tofu and the chongching spicy fish. I ate the fish first, enjoyed it and part way through I notice something that put me off from finishing my meal and it reminded me of a cockroach leg. I threw out the rest of my rice in my bowl kind of put off but not sure if it was that, then put the rest of my food away. I regret that, I should have listened to my gut and checked through the rest, found this morning wanting to reheat my leftovers the roach itself... I'm sad cause the food was good, but that- I just cannot.
