I recently tried this steakhouse in Plano and was seriously impressed! The steak was incredibly tender and packed with flavor, cooked just right and paired perfectly with delicious potatoes that complemented the dish so well. I also had the Maui Maui, and it was cooked to perfection , flaky, flavorful, and topped with a delicious sauce that really brought everything together. The asparagus on the side was well seasoned and cooked just right, adding a fresh balance to the meal. On top of the amazing food, the customer service was excellent. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon!
My wife and I came here to celebrate her birthday. The food and service were absolutely phenomenal. It is a cool downtown building with a cozy setting. If you are reading this, I would recommend giving it a try. We intend to come back for our anniversary. Thank you Lane for making our night special.
Amazing experience! I took my parents for dad’s birthday last year and we loved every bite we had. Mom mentioned she would rather have salmon to which the team went above and beyond to accommodate her request. We were amazed at their level of care. We left happy and full to say the least
This steakhouse came highly recommended and it absolutely lived up to the praise. From the moment we arrived, Laine the owner, was attentive, and genuinely invested in the experience . The food was exceptional, with a steak cooked to absolute perfection—flavorful, tender, and expertly prepared. What truly elevated the evening was hearing the intimate story behind the restaurant’s conception, adding heart and authenticity to every bite. It wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience. A place where passion, precision, and hospitality come together beautifully
Our steak was cooked to absolute perfection — no questions asked, which I personally love. There’s only one proper way to eat a steak, and they nailed it. While the lack of a formal wine menu was a surprise, Lane stepped in with a fantastic recommendation at a modest price point. We enjoyed it so much we ordered a second bottle. Chef Spencer absolutely slayed every dish. Being in such an intimate venue, with a full view of the kitchen and the chance to meet both the chef and owner, felt like stepping back in time to a simpler, more genuine era of dining. The whole experience was super enjoyable by my standards, and I would definitely recommend it. Worth noting: we first discovered them at Chef for Farmers, and only later learned they had taken 2nd place — a well-deserved recognition.
We had an absolutely fantastic meal last Friday at this superlative restaurant. Laying in his team have figured out a way to curate an excellent dining experience without seeming stuffy or cold. This is a very inviting and comfortable environment to enjoy some of the finest cuts of beef you will ever find at a restaurant. As sad as it is, the fact remains that most so-called steakhouses will never be able to serve you a truly excellent steak. This is not a knock on steakhouses, it’s just a reality that due to the need for cranking out high volumes of steak on a daily basis, there is no way a steakhouse is going to serve you a good steak. That’s where Bar Ranch comes in. They focus almost completely on the beef with s small menu of excellent sides and starters. This is what a steak-based experience should be. We opted for the Australian Wagyu ribeye, which was absolutely stellar. This was paired with an Argentinian Malbec of the owner’s choosing. Absolutely spot on pairing. As amazing as the food was, the service and level of attention to detail exceeds most anything you will find out there. Lane is an incredible host, owner, and also just a great guy in general. He truly loves his beef, and he loves taking care of his patrons. I am from Pennsylvania and I absolutely cannot wait to return specifically to dine at this restaurant. If you are within 45 minutes of this restaurant and you Eat beef, you should visit here ASAP. Thanks to Lane and his team for providing a stellar dining experience. (Hopefully you guys will have BR hats available soon!)
Wow! This small, intimate craft butcher dinner is UNREAL. The flavors touched every bit we tried. High marks for the Waygu steaks, cut to order, delicious salads and sides (complements) - and the bread pudding was phenomenal. Highly recommend. Note - they cook over pecan wood chips, if you have a nut allergy.
Joined a dear friend to celebrate her birthday. We were delighted to meet the owner and hear his story of the restaurant’s creation. We had the most flavorful steaks and the Brussel sprouts and potatoes were fabulous. Also try the Wedge salad, unique and so delicious. We will be back! Top notch everything, a gourmet’s dream.
An Unforgettable Engagement Dinner at BAR-Ranch Steak Company We recently celebrated one of the most special moments of our lives—our engagement—at BAR-Ranch Steak Company, and it could not have been more perfect. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm and welcoming ambiance. The space is intimate yet vibrant, with a refined charm that makes it ideal for a celebratory night out. The team at BAR-Ranch went above and beyond to make the evening memorable, treating us with such care and attention that we felt like family. Now let’s talk about the food—absolutely outstanding. Every course was crafted with precision and passion, from the hand-selected steaks (cooked to perfection) to the thoughtfully curated sides and sauces that elevated the entire experience. You can taste the quality in every bite, and the focus on craft butchery and seasonal ingredients really sets them apart. What made the night even more special was the personal touch—whether it was the thoughtful service, the expert recommendations, or the genuine congratulations we received, it all added to a sense of joy and celebration. To top it all off, we captured a sweet moment outside their beautiful storefront, and it’s now a cherished memory from the night we said “yes” to forever. If you’re looking for a place to mark a meaningful occasion—or simply enjoy an unforgettable meal—BAR-Ranch Steak Company is the place to be. We’ll definitely be back.
Best steakhouse I have ever been to. Great environment. Very intimate. Music is perfect volume. The chef came to greet and seat us. We were celebrating a successful business venture and they delivered. The recommendations were flawless. The sides I can still taste. The cooked perfectly. And everyone was so wonderful. Next time in town I will be back. I highly recommend
This restaurant hits all the sweet spots. It offers prime cuts of meat but doesn’t have a stuffy atmosphere. It makes for a beautiful night out without being uncomfortably buttoned up. It’s easy to relax and feel welcomed. It’s a very small, intimate restaurant where you’re greeted by the owner. Great attention is given to the food, which we agreed was top notch. We dined in the evening and the entrees were various cuts of wagyu—all the highest offering. Sides were also delicious.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bar Ranch Steak Company, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment you step inside, you’re transported into a world that feels like a beautifully crafted nod to a 1920s butcher shop and steakhouse. The ambiance is warm, intimate, and brimming with character—think rich wood accents, a stunning view of the custom dry-aging room, and an air of timeless charm that sets the stage for an unforgettable meal. The food? Oh, it’s beyond amazing, it’s a revelation. Every bite bursts with flavor, showcasing the finest cuts of beef I’ve ever tasted. The steaks, whether it’s the melt in your mouth A5 Wagyu or the perfect dry aged Angus, are prepared with such care and precision that you can taste the passion in every morsel. The sides, crisp Brussels sprouts kissed with dry age tallow and bacon, creamy marble potatoes, you name it, are just as spectacular, complementing the main event without ever overshadowing it. And don’t even get me started on the desserts, they’re the perfect sweet finish to a meal that’s already a masterpiece. What truly elevates Bar Ranch Steak Company, though, is the service and the owner, Lane. He’s not just running a restaurant, he’s curating an experience. Lane greeted us personally, his enthusiasm for his craft shining through as he walked us through the entire journey of the food. He explained where each cut comes from (sourced from top-tier Texas ranches and beyond), how it’s meticulously dry aged in his dry age locker, and even how he built the place with his own two hands. You can feel the pride he takes in every detail, from the custom Argentine, wood fired grill to the very walls around you. It’s rare to meet someone so dedicated to sharing the full story behind what’s on your plate, and it makes every bite that much more meaningful. The service from the entire team matches Lane’s energy, attentive, warm, and genuinely invested in making your night special. They anticipate your needs before you even realize them yourself, all while keeping the vibe relaxed and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where you feel like a VIP, but also right at home. Bar Ranch Steak Company isn’t just a meal, it’s a celebration of craftsmanship, flavor, and heart. Modeled after a 1920s butcher shop and steakhouse, it delivers on every promise of that golden era while adding a modern twist that’s pure genius. If you’re looking for an experience that’s as delicious as it is inspiring, do yourself a favor and book a table. You’ll leave with a full stomach, a happy heart, and a story to tell everyone about the magic Lane and his team have created. Hands down, one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had!
What an incredible experience and meal. Went for dinner with a couple friends and went back for lunch the next day. Everyone walked away with the same feeling of not only having had an amazing meal, but also an experience you don’t get at any of the best steak restaurants in the DFW area. Lane has created something you can’t experience anywhere else around these parts. Definitely take a group, the meals are large. You can order individual steaks depending on the menu at the time, but the family style meals are where the experience happens. You get to choose from appetizers, salads, your choice of wagyu cut, sides and desserts. The menu states for 2 people but they will accommodate additional guest for an upcharge, but you also get an additional starter, side and dessert. We got the tartar for the appetizer and it was a first for all of at the table. The flavor and texture was clean and had a great beef flavor. If you like sushi, don’t be afraid to try this, you won’t be disappointed. For the salad we had Caesar which was more than enough salad for the three of us. We chose the ribeye which was a F3 Australian Wagyu at the time. Lane, the owner, did a great job of explaining the cuts and their ratings. He also made great recommendations for the sides and explained how the board would come out with asparagus and peppers. We chose the potatoes, Brussels sprouts and mushrooms for the sides. The Brussels sprouts are to to die for if you like crispy Brussels sprouts. They had so much flavor and the texture was spot on. The potatoes and mushrooms were delicious as well. The steak was perfect. Perfectly cooked. Perfect texture. Melt in you mouth. You can put every label on it. What an incredible piece of meat. For dessert we had the cheesecake and bread pudding. The bread pudding was great, not soggy at all, still a nice firm texture and good flavor. The cheesecake was kind of deconstructed but so rich and flavorful. For dinner, plan to spend a decent bit of money for a group but know you will walk away with an experience you can’t get many places. You can bring your own wine or liquor. If you can’t eat everything they will box it up for you as the meal goes and then give the to go food to you when you leave. I ended up going back the next day for lunch and the Wagyu burgers are great. Very tender, cooked perfectly and the fries were awesome. I highly recommend trying this place, whether it is lunch or dinner.
This Place hands down the best steakhouse on this side of the globe!! The Food is amazing! The service is top notch! I go all over the globe for a good steak, and this place beat the best of them! The chef and owner is down to earth, fun, and accommodating! The family style dishes for two is the best! It really feeds more than two! If you have a group ask them to make a family style feast for you! I went to celebrate with friends and family and we had a ball! Very cozy spot! The picture does not give this place justice! Tons of flavor!! Oh and by the way, I do not like break pudding at all! I tried the bread pudding and could not stop eating it! It was made with croissants! AMAZING!!
Came here for my birthday dinner and it was such an amazing experience. I would even go as far and say it was a perfect dinner night for my husband and I. Steaks are beautifully done, our waiter made sure to tell us how they prep and cook the steaks here. Please note if you do not like your steaks on the more rare side this may not be the place for you. Small dinner menu but I believe this adds more to the experience. Gaspar (I hope I'm spelling the name right) was amazing and super helpful when it came to the menu options and wine pairings. I don't think it's often you can say you got to meet the owner of an establishment and have conversations with them. Definitely a more intimate dining experience and I highly recommend coming here! Will be back soon!
Definitely a unique restaurant in the area with passion for steaks. But the experience was underwhelming for the price tag (mind you >$200 pP for salad, wine and entree). Cesar salad was just salad leafs with some cheese on top. Steak was good - had wagyu strip. Brussel sprouts nothing special…
It was… fine. Our server mentioned it was the first day of the new seasonal menu, which meant the A4 Wagyu strip with the black wagyu BMS 11 we were excited for was no longer available. Not a huge deal, so we opted for the Australian ribeye Delmonico course meal instead ($415 for two). On the positive side: the salad was refreshing, the steak tartare was nicely done, and the sides were excellent—especially the brussels sprouts and potatoes. The highlight of the evening, though, was the bread pudding. Absolutely phenomenal, a must-try. Unfortunately, the ribeye itself was underwhelming. While well-seasoned with a nice smoky flavor, it was unexpectedly chewy for a high-quality ribeye and arrived lukewarm. This was my first time trying Australian wagyu (I’ve had Japanese and American before), but I didn’t anticipate toughness being part of the experience. At $415, it simply didn’t feel worth it. Service was polite but fell short of what I’d read in other reviews. I had noted in our reservation that we were celebrating me being cancer-free, and while I didn’t expect much, even a small acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Perhaps it was overlooked, but at this level of dining, small touches of hospitality make a difference. Overall, it was an “okay” evening. But at these prices, I was hoping for something more memorable than okay.
EDIT to respond to merchant: Layne, buddy.. I went to the contact us page on your website and filled out the "send us a message" form first. A few days later I called the phone number listed on the website (the same one you reference below) and left a lengthy voicemail explaining the issue. You had every opportunity to correct the issue when it was brought to your attention as we were signing our checks (we split it so both got overcharged $30). Me driving to downtown Plano for $60 at this point isn't a good use of my time, especially after now 4 follow-up attempts. I tried numerous times before deciding to post an honest review of our experience. The issue is less about the money and more about the principle at this point. I will send another email now to see if we can finally get this resolved. I presented a gift card and he overcharged us by $60+. When I brought that to the owners attention, he said he couldn’t redo the charge but it would be credited soon. This was 1/9/26. Since then I’ve called and left a voicemail and sent a message through the “contact us” portion of their website. Zero response. Steaks and sides were excellent, but this place is way overpriced. They also don’t advertise the cost of beer or wine; you just get surprised when you get the bill.
