I can only honestly speak of my experience because I've read all the reviews.....my 1st Beach Trip Aug 13-16th....just got home and I'm gonna tell you I can't wait to go back....something must have changed because everybody was so accomodating....from the bar and restaurant staff that had to deal with my group of 28 people and never once blinked at making everything right to the housekeeping that were daily asking us if we needed stuff and quick to help.....I swear I can't wait to make my reservation for next year... they don't advertise anything they aren't and it's the perfect idea of what you need for a Beach Trip....on the beach as close as you can be.....I didn't want to come home....but....til we meet again you sweet people......I Thank You

Great little stop on the beach for breakfast!!! Dogs are aloud on the veranda. Fast service and good southern food!!! We parked on the beach this is a boutique hotel as well. Looks super cute and great location.

We stayed here for the second time we were here for the whole weekend in room 22 which has two rooms and 5 beds the ac worked great and beds were comfy and clean upon arrival you can’t beat the location of this place at all it’s right there on the beach there an upstairs patio area that gives you a perfect view of the beach don’t let some peoples reviews scare you off if you want Hilton quality you should stay at a Hilton for what this place is it made for a great stay for me and my family at port and it’s also pretty awesome to have a restaurant at the motel your staying at

I was a little hesitant due to the mixed reviews online but I chose to check it out for my self. My family of 4 booked the family room #12 for the weekend. Best DECISION EVER! From the beginning to the very end we were treated amazing by everyone working there. The lodge is wonderful, clean, cozy, quiet. It was also a huge plus having a restaurant and bar in the same establishment so we didnt have to travel around much. All one place. The pool was refreshing, they even have tables, chairs and a few shaded picnic tables. The beds and pillows were the best ever, better than any place we have stayed in recent years! The food WAS ABSOLUTELY Delicious!!! The burgers are unbelievably good, chicken tenders and fries, onion rings all super! Everyone who works there were super helpful, answering any questions we had and were amazing to my two kids. They have anxiety and felt right at home here. Coming and going by themselves around with no issue. My husband really enjoyed the bar at night. He said it was very laid back and chill. Not sure why others on here didn't have the same experience but it was definitely worth our only yearly vacation and we will absolutely be back next time around in Port A. The beach is right behind the restaurant and no boardwalk down there it's steps away which was very convenient for us walking around so much. We seriously cant thank them enough for their hospitality but hope our experience gives others incentives to give them a break at times. Its not 100% perfect but its sure close! Thanks Port A Beach lodge and Staff!!!

Absolutely charming beach front hotel. Though it is a humble establishment, it is CLEAN, friendly, low cost depending on your choice of room, and the bar / restaurant is AWESOME. We abandoned our hotel in Padre before this one because the other one was dirty, expensive and unfriendly. Port A Beachlodge personnelle were friendly and charming, they are pet friendly, have a clean pool, and they are about 60 seconds from the beach and centrally located to everything else in town. I can't say enough good things about this place.

We love the Lodge and come every time we’re in Port A! We’ve always been treated wonderfully and everyone always loves on my baby Gus (a yellow lab)! The burgers are delicious but my favorite is their breakfast dishes!

The service was great, beer was cold, and the food was good. The parking situation could be better and it would be nice if they offered cocktails that weren't only wine based. The atmosphere and view are great.

We went for breakfast. Great service and food was great!! Be prepared to wait as it’s cooked to order -waited about 30 minutes for food order but we weren’t in a hurry!

I did not stay in a room there I only went to the bar. The people were very friendly and personable. The food was very good as well.

Nice older Beachfront lodge. Bar and Grille on site, Kid friendly and Great location. If you are looking for a cheap place on the beach that is might be your place. We booked room 23 which is 3 bed 3 bath.You must use stairs to get to rooms on 2nd floor. Rooms have window units for air which worked just fine. Free parking on site or pay $12 to park on the beach.

We ate at the restaurant. The food was pretty food. Fried shrimp was plump and not loaded down with breading. While the fried chicken tenders were actually tender, it seemed like they were cooked in old grease because they were too dark brown. It was nice sitting on the porch overlooking the beach.

This is one of those instances where there was an excellent idea with an excellent location with just poor execution and in need of some TLC. This is a hotel/motel right on the beach with an attached surf & turf diner/bar. The location is perfect with easy access walk-on to the beach. The idea is awesome having a room on the beach with a walk-on bar and grill type place attached. But the food... And the facilities.... I get the place is right on the beach, but a little spit and polish would've really upped its cleanliness without losing that rustic washed ashore charm. At the very least, the bathrooms just need to be hosed down. The menu has great selections, but the execution of the meals leaves alot to be desired. The prices aren't bad, but if I wanted frozen stuffed crab I'd go to the mart and buy it cheaper. Fried oysters need some tending as well. Should not be soggier more than me coming out of the water. This place has some awesome potential and the people who work here are super nice and chill, but I don't know if I'll be returning if I'm hungry or need a place to sleep.

Flies, flies, flies. The good: This hole in the wall beach shack is right on the beach with direct access, and buried among the neighborhood houses. The setting could be straight out of a movie as you enjoy a meal overlooking the beach with oldies playing in the background. We went right at opening and got breakfast. My taquito (two bacon/egg/cheese/potato breakfast tacos) melted in my mouth, and my family’s meals were also superb. Pretty affordable little place too. There is a sign as you walk in that advises that food could take an hour to prepare (“we’re on island time”), but this did not come into play. The meh: Service could be improved. There were very few tables occupied; however the waitstaff was not the most attentive. Not rude, but certainly could improve friendliness. The bad: The entire establishment is teeming with flies. I realize that some come with eating outdoors; however we ate outside at other establishments with no problem. They do have a couple of fly fans for the tables to help mitigate the problem, but they were only so effective. As one searches for the entrance, there are various smells that might attract them. The lack of parking for those not coming up from the beach is also a concern, but not much can be done about that because of the surrounding houses. Port A Beachlodge could be a very memorable hole in the wall for those coming to visit as long as the fly situation is given a priority.

Honestly, this place was a disappointment. The service was fine and the mozzarella sticks were okay, but the atmosphere completely ruined the experience. Even with the windows open, the inside smelled like a litter box, which made it hard to enjoy the food. I understand the cats outside aren’t something you can control, but the interior should at least be clean and odor-free. On top of that, $20 for two sodas and a six-piece appetizer is pretty unreasonable. Definitely not worth the price or the experience.

The one thing I like about this hotel is how close it is to the beach. It’s maybe a 50 yards walk from the bar. But other than that, this is not a place you should stay at or eat. The food they serve at the bar is overpriced especially for the food you get. It’s not very tasty or filling in my opinion. It has very uncomfortable seats that I couldn’t even enjoy my meal because it was causing so much back pain for me. Staff was kinda helpful but still not great service. The rooms are terrible. I stayed on the top floor in the room that sleeps 14, 7 Double beds. The bathrooms are extremely small, and don’t come with any soap so you’ll have to bring your own. Beds are extremely uncomfortable, they have old box spring mattress and ours were broken as well. I could hardly sleep through the night and woke up with really bad back pain. Internet hardly works. Rooms are not cleaned very well, and I had walked past the housekeeper one morning and saw that all they clean the floor with is a swiffer. The pool has no shade so you cant be in the water for very long and is not that remarkable. Over all it is nice for the view and how close it is to the cost but other than that I would avoid this place. It is old from the 60s/70s and needs quite a bit of work, so I would go somewhere where your money would be better spent.

We ate there on Saturday and it was great! We just left from there on Monday....it's the all you can eat shrimp day....it was pretty terrible...one bartender, one server and one cook....they got destroyed....too busy for that amount of staff...9 people in our party...had to go in from the patio for the first four of us to order anything...that's fine...as our party came along we did get a server who was drowning...the last person got their food an hour after everyone else...drinks never showed up...this was not a server problem, this was a management problem that doesn't even care about helping their staff be successful..but the employees got to take the abuse...great location, great food when it finally comes, but they set this place up for failure...I doubt this is the only night this has ever happened...incredibly sad...

We came to eat and it wasn't even busy. The hostess never told us to go to the bar to order so we sat there for 10min until I heard someone mention it at another table. We order and its 40min later and still no food. This is a no frills place mind you, so the menu doesn't merit it taking this long for a hamburger and a grilled cheese. Slow, slow, slow.

My kids — proud Hispanic Americans and veterans walked into Port A Beachlodge restaurant to grab a bite, enjoy a few drinks and support a local business. Instead, they were followed around like thieves, glared at, treated with open hostility, and had their photo taken by staff. One was even followed outside. For what? For daring to walk in brown-skinned and respectful? They weren’t drunk. They weren’t loud. They weren’t causing problems. They simply didn’t fit whatever biased image this place clearly has about who “belongs” there. The whole experience was humiliating and disgusting. They chose this place because it was nearby. Next time? Anywhere else. We’ve got family coming into Port Aransas in the coming weeks, and guess what? They’ll be warned. Loudly.Shame on you, Port A Beachlodge. Racism and disrespect have no place in hospitality…or anywhere else.

Went on a Monday night, took pictures with a great view of the ocean at 5:23 PM, left at 6:23 PM after not having the server come back after taking our order once. Saw other tables who showed up after us getting served their food. When confronted the staff, they all acted like they had no clue how we could have gotten skipped. I do not recommend if you are hungry.
