Delicious food! Had a shrimp & crab melt with real crab & it was great. Chicken salad with grapes looked yummy. Very nice staff as well - would recommend this hidden local gem
This is a great spot for lunches and sweets! I love the pimento cheese panini and caesar salad :) The staff is very friendly and hard working. They keep it rocking and rolling. And their chocolate pie is the best pie ever!!!
Great locals spot with yummy eats!
Visiting Port A and feeling a bit under the weather, I googled for a restaurant with soup. Pulled up and parked and realized I would not be able to get my walker and me up to the sidewalk. Pretty sure there was a sloped curb somewhere, but I didn’t have the stamina to look. I called in to the restaurant and they actually brought it out to me, way above and beyond! Had Thai fish soup, hot and spicy, and a giant chicken salad sandwich for just under $10. Great prices, great food, great service!
We had the turkey dinner, and LET ME tell you. It was incredible, especially the green beans, I’ve never had. Better green beans, ever. It was delicious. And the quality was superb. 100% recommend and can’t wait to eat more from this restaurant!
For years we have relied on Miss K’s for take out to the beach for the whole family. Her food is terrific every time. It is fast to get but homemade and healthy. The sexy salad, turkey reuben and club sandwiches are among our favorites but everything is tasty, including chocolate pie! Highly recommend!
Went in to buy a gift card and had to try the carrot cake. Wow! Excellent!! Thank you for being so accommodating, too!
Excellent salad and shrimp/crab melt. All fresh ingredients
Such a wonderful first time experience! Got to meet Miss Kay herself and she was a delight. Food was flavorful and good portion! Plus the artwork on the walls is a nice touch! If you’re in the area definitely give it a try!
Tastes homemade in the best way! Happy to find this casual, bright, non-bar place for lunch with excellent food.
Is there a 6 star option ?! For me and my personal preference… which is small/ home made/ affordable prices and flavors that tickle every taste bud… this is the place! Order what ever you want it’s all good. The daily specials are a must or the BLAT ✅. This is where the locals go for good reason .
This "unique" eatery is now my favorite place to eat in Port-A. Positive reviews is what made me decide to go there. I was not disappointed! Salad was very fresh and plentiful. All food coming out of kitchen looked nicely presented. Give them a try, you will want to go back!
Miss K’s always has delicious food. The service is good and the atmosphere friendly. They try to keep prices reasonable by not taking credit cards. They also have great to-go casseroles. Highly recommend!
I am so glad my friend took me here. The absolute best food in town! Hands dow, and there are a lot of good places to eat here. Very fresh and very healthy. Today we had the chicken salad and a quich, along with tomato mozzarella sides. Fabulous. The crust on the quiche is so flakey it melts in your mouth. The chicken salad I could not stop eating. Excellent atmosphere. Feels healthy all the way around.
My family and I just finished one of the most delicious Thanksgiving meals we’ve had in years. All thanks to the delicious food catered from Miss K. I am so grateful someone canceled and I was able to take their place at the last minute.
Stopped for a Saturday lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I got the tuna salad sandwich and it was huge (really filled me) with lots of good stuff in it. The side of tomatoes and mozzarella was very refreshing. My wife enjoyed her BLT with side of very fresh and large pieces of fruit. Overall it's very tasty and reasonably priced and we'll definitely be back.
Food was delicious, cute place and helpful staff.
You'll have to wait a bit but it's well worth it! The food was light but filling. I had a turkey sandwich, pasta salad and a tea. I was surprised how much crisp deliciousness could exist in a sandwich. The whole grain bread was thick and the sauce wasn't overpowering. Piled high with quality turkey... I was very impressed. I would wait an hour for this food and not complain. A must try for anyone visiting or local. Definitely planning to go back soon! So so good
If you're tired of all the heavy fried food and burgers on this island, Miss K's is a great change. Stop in for a bite for lunch and look at their daily specials that use fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients. The food here is authentic and prepared when you order. My only regret is not taking photos of the food. By the time I realized, I had eaten every last bit. Try the cold coconut strawberry soup with mint. It's super light and refreshing on a hot and humid day. The staff are nice and the service is good. Oh, and their desserts look amazing.
We were the only customers there that didn’t get a hug and a quick conversation about how the family’s doing - which we found really charming. Cash or Venmo only, but the food was well worth the potential minor inconvenience. The Rueben was perfect - hefty, juicy, and what I’d expect to see in a commercial. My wife had the quiche and insisted it was amazing. Ended with cookies, which were impressive as well. Also feels like we joined the ‘cool kids’ club when we found this gem.
We kind of stumbled across this place. It was perfect. Busy but not packed with people. A nice break from the crowds everywhere. Staff were super nice. Me and wife both had the special. Cheddar burgers.each custom to our taste. Yummy chocolate chip cookie to share. And lemon bars for later.
I read about this place in the Port Aransas Visitor's Guide but I kept forgetting it was only open on weekdays. I went today (Wednesday) for lunch with my husband. You order at the counter and then they bring it out to you. There were many enticing options and several ways to have them. For example, I got the Chutney Chicken Salad served on lettuce but I could have also had it as a wrap or as a sandwich. My husband got a turkey & cheese wrap and it was good too. The place was pretty full and so it was loud in there but otherwise we enjoyed it. There is local art on the walls which is nice. All of the employees that we spoke with were very kind and helpful. You buss your own table when you're finished. It's not a totally polished place but the food was delicious. One other thing, I saw a few people preferring to go or picking up orders. That's a great idea if you want to be in and out quickly. One more thing: they make casseroles that you can pick up and cook at home. There were a few options to choose from and it looks like they would feed 4 - 6 people.
What a find! We were looking for a lunch spot that offered something relatively light with a seafood slant. We found it here. All four of us had some version of the shrimp salad. And it was fantastic. We will certainly be back.
A gem somewhat hidden away in a strip shopping center on Hwy 361. The BLAT, Crab & Shrimp Melt sandwiches are highly recommended, along with any of the fresh made sides. The potato salad was as good as I've had in a while. Watch for daily specials on FB along with different quiches posted on the blackboard. On my last trip they had Key Lime Pie with fresh strawberry topping. Friendly service and ample portions. It's across from the Sonic and Dollar General, look for the water tower and you are getting 'warm'. Open until 4 pm, except Saturday when they close at 3. Closed on Sundays. Give Miss K a try and support a local business.
Small local deli style eatery with homemade soups, salads and sandwiches. Very busy at lunch, no table service no credit cards BUT best curry chicken salad ever!
We returned for a second time to this small but classy restaurant for lunch while on one of our twice yearly trips to the coast. Sometimes the food has changed at some restaurants, and most of the time, not for the better. But the food here was just as good as it was on our first visit. The service was also still superb. I had the chicken salad sandwich and loved it. My husband had the Gen Tso's chicken and said it was very good. It's just a great place to grab a quick lunch and then head back to the beach!!
Stopped in for a late lunch. The food was delicious! I had the tuna salad and my husband had the shrimp salad. So nicely seasoned. Broccoli salad was great. We shared a piece of key lime pie which was perfectly tart. Yummy!😋
Amazing sandwich shop on the island, they also have soups and salads. Pretty much all of the cold sandwiches can be made a wrap as well. Small seating area but can order take out. Pay before food and they don't take cards, only cash, check, or venmo. I had the crab & shrimp melt and it was to die for. My grandpa who came with us lactose intolerant and got the BLT subbing in mayo for the sauce, equally delicious he tells me. Pics included 😊
We enjoyed the daily special chicken pot Pie and Turkey Ruben both with fresh fruit. Both were large portions. The Ruben was perfection, sandwich bread had to be made in-house, too fresh for other sources, was buttered, Swiss cheese was melted to the point of a nice ooze, the sour kraut was not overpowering and russian dressing was present as a hint. Pot pie was creamy with the right amount of chicken. Fresh fruit consisted of pineapple, grapes, honeydew, cantaloupe and watermelon. All fruit pieces were large. We enjoyed Miss K's and will be returning soon.
My husband and I have been coming to Port A regularly for over 20 years, and somehow missed this gem. Kathryn (Miss K) makes great food! The crab & shrimp melt was not nearly a good enough name for what we were served (pictured). Real crab, not overcooked, savory. And the crab quiche had homemade crust. Broccoli salad was fresh and better than mine. We were so impressed we are having her cater our family reunion next month. Best lunch place on the island, IMO!
The best meal we have had in Port A! Staff were very friendly, food was fresh and tasted awesome!
Non-island native decided to try this place for lunch. The restaurant was just about empty when I arrived but it filled up quickly for what I assume was the lunch rush. The woman at the register quickly took our order. We waited for about 30-mins before our meals were delivered to the table. The food did not disappoint. The turkey reuben was tender and delicious. Their hamburger was also juicy with what I think was a brioche bun. It's a great place to go for fresh fast food.

Best Caprese salad sandwich ever! Fresh ingredients, artfully assembled, and pleasantly served. Your tastebuds are going to rejoice!
Smashing lunch bistro. Amazing food! We had the shrimp salad sandwich, tuna salad sandwich, chicken almond grape salad sandwich and the caprese salad panini. All was excellent.
I'm working on the island now and because of how busy we are, I've been eating a lot of fast food and sick of it and I forgot my lunch at home. I was craving the taste of a home cooked lunch, (definitely not my cooking) so I looked up "sandwich shop close to me". I gave it a try and really liked it! (BLT with avocado) it was nice and quiet and super clean. I'll definitely eat again, and now that I know they serve Chinese food on Wednesday, I'll definitely eat there again.
I love, love, love, this place! The pies, cakes, and cookies are homemade and soooo good! My favorite is the coconut cream pie! The soups and sandwiches are also wonderful! I love the turkey rueben with potato salad! Kay and the other staff are so friendly and accommodating! You have to try this place!
Miss K’s Kitchen is a true local favorite in Port Aransas. The soup alone is worth stopping for—warm, comforting, and always made with care. It’s the kind you crave on a breezy island day. Don’t skip the desserts, and definitely check out the oven-ready meals—perfect for busy days or when you want something homemade without the work. Consistently good, welcoming, and reliable… all the reasons locals keep coming back. If you know, you know. 🥣🍰
Visited Miss K’s during city wide power outage and Miss K still managed to serve perfect lunch. The tortellini salad was amazing. Large portion, great tasting salad. I will definitely go back for soups, sandwiches, specials, and salads.
Ordered carry out Christmas dinner. Everything was excellent! Everything we’ve had dine-in has been spot on as well, from sandwiches to carrot cake…outstanding.
The food here is fresh and delicious! I Highly recommend. Dine in hot or take out and warm up at home. Looking forward to my next dish!
What a jewel. This is the place to go for lunch. The sandwiches were really good. My shrimp sandwich was fresh and on two huge pieces of bread. The crab quiche reallye me rethink quiche again. Would recommend getting tea.
Miss K recently catered a bridal brunch for our group, and we couldn't have been more pleased! We all live out of town, so we weren't sure how it would all work, but Katherine exceeded all our expectations. Our first visit turned into a tasting visit, as she brought us samples of everything we were interested in, even though the restaurant was busy. All of our communication before the event was smooth and professional. We even had an unexpected change of venue two days before the brunch, but she took it in stride and never missed a beat. As for the food itself - everything was delicious, and plenty of it! All of our guests raved about it. If you have a special event in Port Aransas, this is the place to call. Thank you, Miss K!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place and Mama K! The best chutney chicken salad we have ever tasted! So grateful for this establishment. We were able to eat delicious and clean home-cooked meals all work week. Thank you Mama K and team 💚🙏.

Rude, rude staff! She didn’t even greet us and was super rude taking our order. Then made a condescending tone to tell us we can’t pay with a credit card! The waiting time lasted forever, we had enough time to admire the wall decor that is unique. Finally, when the food arrived we were amazed by the quality and the freshness. Veggie wrap and potato salad were very good. The Ruben sandwich was very cheesy like we like it, the fruits were ripened to perfection. So after a very cold start we finally warmed up and I am going to remove only one star. Too bad they have a wonderful cook but a terrible cashier!
The food was delicious, no doubt. We had the turkey rueben with pasta salad and chicken pot pie with tossed salad. Very very good. We ordered it to go. We went early so there was no wait and it came out timely. However, not very friendly. I am so happy to be on vacation at the beach no less and was greeted with someone who must have been having a bad day. She seemed tired and bothered. I haven’t seen any other reviews about staff having bad attitudes so it was probably a one off. We will be back coz everything was yummy and priced very reasonable.

The food was very good, the staff was fine. But the woman running the register, was rude and dismissive. When we came in she didn't even acknowledge us. And when I tried to order she said she was busy. A continued her conversation. For 10 minutes. She was the only problem with the place.
I ordered chicken salad and it was so bland, just a bunch of mayonnaise, no flavor at all, just a few whole purple Grapes, they couldn’t even be nicely diced, and it had some slivered almonds but it’s mostly chicken and mayonnaise. Honestly the worst chicken salad I have ever had. I also ordered the pasta salad and one of the black olives tasted like perfume had to spit it out. I will never go back. Forty dollars in the trash!!
I went to Miss Ks about 4 years ago and got takeout. The food was good, not great but the service was atrocious. Rude is an understatement. I did not post a review at that time, everyone can have a bad day. I returned recently to spend a gift certificate. I bought an entire coconut cream pie. It was average, again not great. Everyone has a different opinion on great food, my only reason for posting is again the rude customer service. As I suspected my first visit it was Miss K herself. Again everyone had a different definition of rude customer service. There are many great reviews on Google for her bistro, but I for one do not need to return for such ridiculously poor customer service from the owner herself. I have been a winter Texan for 14 years and not once written a poor review for customer service. We love the island and the excellent help that are employed here.
