Pretty Dam good. Friendly service brought out a highchair for my child. Let me have my dog on a leash and brought us water. Food was delicious. Had the BBQ damburger and a shake. I would go back.
I have never been there but my dad said he went there in the 30's and it was pretty good way back then, probably the only hamburger spot in Redding at the time, I guess I'll have to try it one day
My favorite burger place of all time (and I try A LOT of burger joints)! Always a great experience with consistently great food! I live in Las Vegas now but still manage to fill up multiple punch cards yearly by always stopping in every time I visit town - often more than once per trip! Love it!
This was a wonderful experience for my trip from Arizona. I used to live in Redding in my youth. My cousin brought me here so I could remember our times together. The original burger and shake get a 5 star from me. Thanks for not changing. A perfect time
It is one of the best places to get old-fashioned burgers, fries, and service just like in the good ole day!
We had the double patty burgers. The beef was most delicious and flavorful with quick service and a wonderful smile. The outside seating was perfect in the sunshine. Small yet wonderful atmosphere with great food and service.
Damburger is one of the best local establishments in Redding, and although I moved away several years ago, I still visit every time I drive through Redding. The service is friendly and efficient, and the staff really gets to know their customers. The burgers always have a great, fresh taste, and although the patties are thin (I think this just makes the flavor come out more), I'm always more than satisfied after a double cheeseburger and fries. If you don't like thin patties, then order the Helen burger. Their milkshakes are awesome as well. Overall, great atmosphere, great people, and great food. Don't miss this place.
Best Burger and Fries in downtown Redding. Be sure to get Mega size Fries and some Fry sauce, home made. Always good price and service, looking forward to trying their local Alcohol!
Incredible root beer shake. Burger was fantastic forgot to take a picture. Staff was very friendly and made the place feel so comfortable. Couldn’t recommend it more.
Absolutely delicious!!! Ordered regular burgers, beyond burgers, fries. All extremely fabulous. Fresh and so good. Highly recommend. Ate every bite!
Always love to eat at the Damburger when in Redding. Friendly service, the burgers are delicious, they serve Pepsi, we love the Dickey family! So glad to see it stayed with Nell and Julie after Ron's passing. Love you guys! Keep it going!
A great burger for a great price. The longest running eatery in Redding, CA. I recommend trying the entire menu.
Great local burger joint. Typically fast, and fries are amazing with fry sauce. Customer service and food are both great. My husband's favorite place to go to when we're visiting.
An absolute treasure in the heart of Redding. Super friendly staff that makes you feel right at home. Reasonable prices, fast service, and the food is incredible.
Amazing food, staff was friendly and made the place have a great feel to it. A small chunk of history in downtown, Damburger is a great place to add to your wishlist. Burgers were pressed a little too much, but better that then the alternative pink burger. (Though if that's your thing, try the "Helen burger.") Milkshake was smooth and tasted good. Fries were heaven, nicely cooked and not soggy like other small-time burger places. Overall, 10/10, would recommend.
First time dining in here. I've always ordered to go in the past. Old fashioned burger places like this one is always on the top of my list. The staff was amazing. Very friendly! They were clean and informative. Favorite part of the place was the seating outside. Made me feel like I was in the middle of a difference city watching people walk and drive by. Can't wait to go back, and I will be sitting outside again. :)
We had such a great experience. The guy serving us was so nice and polite, he gave us great recommendations too. I think he could tell we were visiting and had never been there ;). I had the Dam Burger (original) and my partner had the beyond beef burger. We split some fries and had a pop. It was so tasty!
They had gluten-free hamburger buns, yeah. Thank-you
We have been here a couple times, each time the food was great the staff was friendly. The atmosphere is a bit chaotic but it's popular so of course people will be there. We will definitely go back! Parking can be a bit annoying but it was worth it.
Been a life long resident of Redding, well, minus a few years in between. Great food as always. You know it's good when @ 2pm, people are still coming in a steady flow for some good ole grub. Fries & the sauce❣️😋 🥰✌🏼
Yup, another 5 Star review. These are Smash Style Burgers and they are great, fries are great. The service is fantastic. If you find yourself in Redding, get your butt for in here for a great meal.
Double Dam burger original style and a butterscotch malted was just the ticket!! Athena was great and made us feel welcome like we were family!!
This place is coming up on 100 years old! Unique delicious burgers with a great historical story. Small outdoor patio with water misters, also a small indoor area for those that prefer the A/C. Don’t forget to get a big basket of delicious fries and a few cups of fry sauce. A go to and one of our favorite burgers in town. Must try.
My daughter introduced me to this place and I am so glad. Great food. Friendly staff. Best fries around! Close, convenient and delicious. If you are downtown, be sure to stop in.
Damburger may be a small locally owned business, but don't let that fool you. For, what it doesn't have in numbers like many Nation Wide and Global Fast Food Chains it sure makes up for it in quality ten fold. The service is excellent, especially the staff who remember customers and what they typically order. There's also options regarding if you want to sit inside with AC or outside with provided shade while you eat your meal. The fries are easily some of the best I've had from any Fast Food Chain. Period. They also have Fry Sauce which is a massive plus! I'm also particularly fond of their "Original" Double Damburger with American Cheese (the "Original" is Mustard, Lettuce & Onions).
My dad used to bring me here all the time as a child. Ron was the cook. He was awesome. Love this place! Best Dam Burger ever!
This place has staying power. Been there at least 40 years that I'm aware of. My old boss Beverly took me there to introduce me to her favorite burger joint. Not like any other. Thin burgers well crafted. A class of its own. Way to Damburger. The rest of Redding can learn from you.
Never had a burger like this before, super thin patty, crispy on the edges but still tender and juicy. I got mine with "the works" it was seriously the best burger I've ever had! The fries as well were cooked perfectly, golden, crispy, not brown or undercooked and soggy. The frie sauce was amazing too, also good for dipping the burger. Will definitely return!
If you are craving a delicious burger and happen to be in down town Redding then you have to stop here. Their burgers are juicy and delicious, service is always quick and friendly, and their prices are competitive. I'd add a picture to this review but the Helen burger always looks and smells too good to eat before I think about a photo.
Good classic burgers. Love the double dam dog for kids. Burger patties are very thin and crispy which is good, but you probably want to order at least a double.
Absolutely my favorite place! Love the people who work here!!!❤️❤️❤️ This is, and has been my favorite burger place of all time!
Great old fashioned burger at an affordable price. The shakes are pretty darn good too. Cool to eat at a place that has had it going on for a long time. Will definitely return the next time I'm in Redding.
Good food, bonus points for gluten free buns! Having a wheat allergy makes it impossible to find fast food anywhere, but this is a good place! Ordering online was easy and the food was ready the moment I walked in.
historical old school restaurant. best service in town
The staff are amazing here and very sweet and caring. Always great service and they go above and beyond for you. I had a mobile order and since I'm on crutches right now I asked for my drink to be put in a larger cup for room to avoid it spilling in my bag and I'd missed the curbside option for pickup, the staff saw my request on the online order and went through the effort to call me and let me know that they could bring it to my car to make things easier for me and it helped a lot. Small things like this really help and it's nice to see from our local businesses.
The burgers were amazing! So flavorful and perfect in every way. We also ordered a large fry which was perfect for two people! Delicious fry sauce as well! To top it off, the prices are extremely reasonable. I would have to say though, that their excellent customer service was my favorite part of the whole meal. You can tell they all work as a team, and really enjoy their jobs. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Redding!
Great burger spot. Super friendly service. Super quick service. Super tasty fast food.
Truly one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Everything done the classic American Diner way. Such a perfect spot, and a permanent stop if I'm in Redding!
I miss this place. I absolutely loved the food, fry sauce, and customer service. This place was one of the first eating establishments I went to when I moved to Shasta. As soon as I would call they knew what my order was, and knew my voice (the Helen). There's not many establishments that are personable like Damn Burger. I moved away from Shasta, but this place gives fond memories.
Delicious hamburger and shakes! I always stop when when driving through Redmond. The staff are always nice and the food comes out fast. The menu is simple but appealing. It also has a great history behind it which you can read about through a pamphlet that it at each table.
I come here now and then. And still the same thing. They have great food. They're fairly fast service and friendly staff. And if you're in the area, you need to stop by. I tried their online ordering for the first time. It worked great except for 1 tiny issue. I wasn't able to use my stamp card for a free burger it's no problem cause I still have my free burger stamp card along with a new card I received for the Purchase I just made including 2 more stamps for the purchase I just made. I'll just use my free burger stamp card on another day. The app Didn't accept that card, but the app was absolutely very easy to order my food Thanks -Mitch
Great relaxed burger place with an old school diner vibe. Friendly staff, and they make delicious food! The fries were especially notable: crispy, but soft inside, and go perfectly with their house sauce (mayo and ketchup combo.) Easy to walk to downtown, with parking options nearby. Will definitely be back to try more things.
My family has been coming to Damburger since the beginning with the original owners. This was my first hamburger as a little kid, so I judged all other burgers compared to their burgers. Great service. Best fries, shakes, but my personal favorite is a vanilla coke.
Burgers and fries was good. Only knock is the patties are so thin. The menu list them as 1/6 pound patties. They are not kidding. But, I'd do it again. Service, they were slow to serve us and didn't give silverware. Water drink cups were not refilled.
Great burger! They are tortilla thin so you need to order at least the double. But they are crispy on the edges and juicy in the middle. Skip the fries and just save room for the soft serve ice cream. So good, this was our first time here but we will be back. I'll get photos next time, I was just too hungry this visit.
"A Burger Good Enough To Write Home About" After spending most of the day strolling around Redding I had worked up an appetite. Now, Damburger has been there for quite some time, and as a person who appreciates a tasty burger on occasion my curiosity was piqued, to say the least. So I entered the small business and found a nice, clean interior with a menu that was crying to be ordered from. "How about one of those cheeseburgers?" I thought, my stomach reminding me to get fries also. What a good burger that was! The fries-excellent! Almost good enough to consider moving back to the Northstate
Absolutely loved it! Best Damburger I have ever had! All kidding aside it was an amazing fresh burger! Fries were hot and not greasy at all! Extremely friendly and smiling staff! Ooh we will be back on our travels through California! Very pleased and thank you to all for a great lunch!
Ive loved Damburger since I was a little girl! My grandparents (mostly my grandpa) are frequent patrons, so if you ever run into my poppo, Dennis Sheehy, at Damburger, please tell him you heard about how amazing the food is here from his granddaughter, Margaret. That will put a huge smile on his face! But back to the review, the food is to die for, burgers cooked just right every time, no question. And the price is pretty darn reasonable, especially when it comes to the fries and shakes! Mind you a large fry is the perfect size, so unless you really REALLY like fries I would only order one large because I made the choice to get 2 large fries and boy oh boy was I excited but had fries for lunch and dinner that day lol. Last thing, their shakes are absolutely perfect! I no joke have had dreams about their vanilla shakes with french fries dipped in it oh my gosh I can't even... Just saying! Definitely worth the price!!
Always amazing and delicious. Got my first FREE burger with a punch card! Ill be sure to keep coming back!
Food was delicious, staff was friendly, they have kid friendly options, and service was quick especially given how busy they were when we went.
These burgers are amazing... There's nothing better than any old fashion burger joint. Parking can be difficult.. but if you're downtown and walking around, stop on in for a dam good burger..
I have been going here since I was born. Literally, as long as I can remember. It was my Great Grandmas favorite place before she passed. I have since moved out of California. But every time I come back to visit family, I make sure to stop here. I am always glad to see that their service and food have not changed.
Delicious burger and hot fresh fries. We also had malts and shakes, which were delicious. They have 3 different options of vegetarian patties. The service was quick and friendly. The servers come to your table to take your order and bring your food.
Best burgers in the area! I love the plain burger with the works. So good. Service is top notch! I usually eat out side. Nice patio heat for cooler days and misters for warmer days. This is a must if you are even remotely close and like burgers!
A great little burger joint with an old-school vibe and amazing food. Servers were fantastic, not only friendly with us but also with our less than friendly dog, who was able to get her own meal and a bowl of water too. The burger was perfect, the milkshake was thick and creamy, and I HIGHLY recommend getting the fry sauce; it works with both the fries and the burger as well. Unfortunately my family and I were only visiting Redding, but if we lived here I would probably want to eat here at least once a week.
What a find in downtown Redding! We were looking for Summer Nights at the Park which wasn’t open so this place struck us as a fitting replacement. It reminds me of the hamburger spots from my youth and the location is outstanding right near some hot spots. Entering I noticed it was full, the customers were all smiling and the atmosphere was welcoming. We were greeted promptly and our questions answered. We both chose the double Hot Dams and I highly recommend it. The burgers were perfectly cooked, cheese fresh and condiments well matched. We got out for twenty bucks for two doubles with fries, matching up to where we are from we could have purchased a single with bacon for the same. I highly recommended this place to everyone who is hungry… it’s the perfect spot.
Love the simplicity of this place. They have burgers, fries, shakes, and drinks, all done really well. The star is the smash burgers the create. Knowing their craft and not changing, the thin patties with wonderfully crisp and tasty edges highlight the meal. Accompany the burger with shoestring fries that were hot, crispy, and salted perfectly made a supremely satisfying meal. If you have room, and I did, top off the meal with one of their shakes. They are more than willing to customize your shake flavor. My go to is a pineapple-orange creamsicle shake. Service was fast and friendly. Will return and recommend it to anyone.
This place should be nationally recognized for smash burger excellence. It has become my go to since moving to Redding. The burgers are perfect every time, the lacing on the edges is a thing to behold. Yet they are still juicy and tender. The fries are golden brown crisp and hot every time. Get a chocolate malt and dip the fries in it, you will then be having a fantastic day. The staff is amazing and will let you customize to your heart's content Fun welcoming and chill atmosphere with good outdoor seating options.
A simple burger for a road trip on I-5. After 5+ hours on the road, this little hole in the wall really hit the spot. I got the Damburger with no onions, so only lettuce and mustard inside. The patty was very thin and flavorful! The burger bun is very similar to In-N-Out's style of bread. The fries are a similar style to McDonald's, but I personally think Damburger's are better. They are very lightly salted, so if you prefer salty fries, you should ask for more. The staff was really friendly and made sure all customers were social distancing outside. There are no customers allowed inside the store, but there is outdoor seating if you are comfortable. Two burgers and mega fries only took about 5 minutes! Super quick and perfect for a road trip. Also keep in mind, there is no public bathroom here!
Don't be overwhelmed by the people this place brings in they are actually pretty quick. The burgers and fries are simple yet hit the spot. For a sweet treat when you need a pick me up they have that too.
This place is great! The prices are good, the food is good, and the service is friendly. The burger patties are thin, but that's totally the style and I dug it. You can always order a double on the cheap. Would totally come again. Also, the "Hot Dam" is delicious 😛
My friend likes to come to Damburger because she grew up here and her dad worked on the dam. I am new to the area and thought Damburger was cute and friendly. I am always a fan of small businesses. I can't imagine they served an "original" burger with its 1/6 paper thin patty to the men who worked on the dam and got away with it. I would order by size, 1/3 lb at least. I don't know how much more it will go up from the $8.50 for the original burger.
I got the Helen Burger lunch special, which comes with fries and a drink. The burger was delicious, very well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Fries were also fantastic- especially with the fry sauce- but they were so good, they didn't really need anything to dip them in. Would definitely recommend for a quick and yummy meal.
Old school classic counter burger spot. The highlight is the thick milkshakes and friendly service. A once a month fix for me. A Redding history iconic spot!
Great place to get a burger. My favorite is the BBQ dam burger. You can get a burger, fries, and a drink for under 15 dollars. Inside reminds me of an old style diner. You need to try this place out if you're in the Redding area.
Very fast with their orders and good food. Fries and sauce are amazing! Their burgers taste great but their burgers are always put together pretty messy and they’re very small. A double is the size of a single a triple isn’t even the size of a normal double the patty’s are very small. I think they should consider bigger patty’s in the future. Still love going here though.
Well known about town. Good burgers, get the double as kind of small patties. Won't disappoint.
Needed a place to grab a burger while running errands in downtown Redding. Just happened to drive by Damburger and figured we'd give them a try. A little different burgers with the patties being very thin, but that was explained to us when we ordered so we were able to order accordingly and didn't get a paper thin burger when we were expecting a standard thick burger. The flavor and texture was good, maybe above average for a good burger. Menu choices were good, much fuller menu than most places which is great because sometimes you just want something different. Milk shakes and fries were perfect, and the staff was very friendly.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good burger. Atmosphere and staff were great. The fry sauce is really good. The service itself could be improved on. Overall 4 stars
Not a bad place to grab an original smash burger in downtown Redding.
It has a old school hamburger place atmosphere good food and not bad price
Great burgers, shakes, fries. Not a ton of options but what they do have is really good. The portions are on a bit of the smaller side so if you are really hungry order extra. The price is fair.
On the down side: it wasn't as tasty or juicy as a double/double from I'n'O. On the plus side: the staff is amazingly on-point with great energy and a great attitude, they're just 2 blocks from Shasta Regional, they have beer and hard cider, their shakes are quite good, and there are non-burger options for me to try next time. Will definitely go again to try more stuff.
Burger was pretty good but thought it was odd, for a gourmet burger place, that they didn't offer tomato. To put on your burger. And only iceberg lettuce.
We came to Redding for a Jr. Football game, had some time before the event and wanted a burger. Although the price was good the actual burger was strange. It tasted ok but the burger patty was smashed so thin you could not tell there was any meat on the sandwich at all. Maybe this is what's "special" about this place but from someone who had never eaten at this restaurant it was not the best surprise.
The staff was very nice. This was my first time ever eating at Dam Burger. The staff was nice. I wish now I would have remembered to take a picture before I ate. But having never laid eyes on there product before. And with a name like Dam Burger I guess I was just expecting something bigger I ordered the Double Dam Burger it all tasted fine but the 2 patties were wafer thin. Like the size of on regular patty. I guess for the price I was expecting it to be more.
The floor was filthy. Tables were barely clean. Food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Biggest issue was that the actual hamburger patty was SO thin! I should have ordered a double meat burger, just so I would have been able to actually taste the meat in my burger.
It's ok and edible. Much better burger joints in town though, especially for the price. Yesterday their fry sauce tasted like miracle whip 🤮. I would have given only two stars but they have good service and were replacing my food from the prior mess up, which I think deserved an extra star. So keep up the extra good customer service it might save your business. Unfortunately it still wasn't worth it for me. Third time's the charm. Won't be giving this place any more chances unfortunately (Even if I was offered free food I wouldn't take it at this point). Now if you like really thin patties that tend to be charcoaled a bit, shoestring fries and miracle whip or something that tastes like it maybe when it's kind of going bad? Oh and good customer service. This place is definitely for you.
I don't often give a lot of reviews, and I don't mean to criticize. However, I saw the reviews and I love things nostalgic, as such I was compelled to pay a visit. On the positive side, I do think it's a very cute place, it certainly falls into the nostalgic category. The staff was friendly and the food arrived quickly. I ordered the Double Damn Burger (with cheese) and order of fries, and a chocolate peanut butter shake. Shake was great Fries were great Fry sauce was great At the risk of sounding picky (and I'm simply trying to offer constructive criticism), but as I was halfway finished with the burger, I thought to myself there's no cheese on this burger. I pointed this out to the gal, and a moment later she came back and asked if I would double check "between the patties" and sure enough there was in fact cheese present. I would like to respectfully point out is that if I cannot taste (or see) the cheese, there's a two-fold problem; 1) the patties are already somewhat small, and the fact that the cheese was fitting in the middle of it (without even being exposed) on the edges, demonstrates that a very small amount of cheese is being used. 2) The other issue is that there was too much mustard placed on the burger, which of course will easily kill the taste of all of the other flavors, if applied too heavily... I do in fact like mustard, however there was too much mustard on this occasion, and obviously someone gave it too much of a squirt.. So if the staff is reading this tonight and wonder why I didn't leave a tip, here's your explanation, along with some constructive criticism I believe (e.g. If you're going to add a dollar for cheese it sure as well ought to be enough that you can see it over the edges of the patty), and watch your mustard application we all know that that will override any other flavors... Respectfully, Dan
I would have given it one more star if it weren't as expensive as it was. I liked that they had vegetarian options. The Boca burger wasn't bad. I liked that they had add-ins for the soda, but I didn't like that a small was $2 (2.25 w/add-in) and the small was very small indeed. Basically, with the exception of a decent veggie burger, we could have gotten the same quality food (flavor-wise anyway) for half the price at a fast food place. ...Also if a grown-up wants a kids meal let them get it... Without charging them more for it.
Very thin hamburgers. Cheese was hard to find.
The employees were great but I felt the food was over-priced. I love to support small and local businesses but I appreciate and prefer it when they use quality ingredients. The shake was essentially a Frosty like what you get at Wendy's, except it is much cheaper at Wendy's. They don't have tomatoes and they only have 2 types of cheese to choose from. With tip it was about $40 for a family of 4 and I honestly felt like In-N-Out would've been better for less than half the price.
Late in the evening, it wasn't too busy. It's a small shop, with tight seating. The table wasn't wiped down very well. Service was fine. Food was not great. The burger patties are pressed soo thin, they're burnt and dry. I prefer a juicy burger, and that was not it. The shakes were actually really good, I'd go back for those alone. Any and every extra thing costs. Even the fry sauce, of which they give a tiny little cup. Only available condiment is ketchup, and our table didn't even have a bottle. The drinks were good, nice root beer and decent lemonade. Fries were actually decent but I've had better. The history is cool tho!
Don't waste your $$ on the puppy (dog) patty, it was quite small, and falling apart (see pic!!), I was charged $2.55 for this. 😬🫤🙄 There's another place down the road that gives decent puppy patties for less than HALF that, and they are fresh made. I always prefer to patronize small businesses, and find they're usually much better than the fast food chain places, disappointed this is definitely not the case here!! I've been really looking forward to trying Dam Burgers, especially with the fun, local History. The service was okay, and quick. The Burger was nothing to write home about, and NOTHING stood out about it, not flavor, ingredients, nor price. The fries were the typical skinny (think frozen) type, but they did give a generous amount that I felt was consistent with the price point, however, they charge if you want fry sauce, you don't even get one with your order. As far as ambience, I always enjoy the small down home Cafe, this does offer that, with its dated interior and small seating capacity. Located in a busy downtown area with paid parking, it was easy to find parking.
Tbh people say the burger is good but it is not. It’s like I would have gotten something from a freezer burger. I came in and was not attended right away which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. They pretty much leave you alone no customer service at all. Idk why they gaslight this burger so much. Gross 🤮. I don’t really review but thought this needed to shed Somme light. Went a few days ago.
