whoever the chef was on august 1st at 2:00pm... oh my goodddd. that was like actual heaven. I've had cuisines from all around the world and yet the fiod today blew me away im not even exaggerating. thank you. huge compliments to the chef on this day
The towering lumberjack at this place is almost as impressive as the food. Their pancakes are fluffy and delicious. Sausages well seasoned and plump. Bacon browned to perfection. Sandwiches were well seasoned and service impeccable. The mango dressing on the Sawmill salad was delicious! The who family walked away happy from this place.
This is an awesome restaurant in EVERY aspect! We were highly impressed with the attentiveness, attitude, friendliness, efficiency, and patience of the management & staff! The food is delicious and the prices shockingly reasonable for the huge portions. We are 4 generations and were ALL treated with kindness & respect and we all loved the staff and food! This place is a gem and we HIGHLY recommend it!!
What a LOVELY surprise. We were heading home and starving after a long road trip and code this spot because it was right in the route home. I'm so happy we found it! We both had the fish and chips. The Cole slaw was sweet and creamy, the fries were hot and crispy, the fish was cooked perfectly with just the right crunchy coating.... the food was so good!! The serving sizes were not enormous but not tiny, the servers were quick and responsive. Will definitely go back.
We had a delicious breakfast. The young man who sat us went above and beyond to make our experience a delicious one!
My partner and I travel extensively. We experience a lot of service while traveling. Our waiter Javier was outstanding! Remarkable service. Attentive, energetic and brought us hot food!.. Imagine that.. hot food. It's amazing how many restaurants serve lukewarm to cold food.
The server was amazing, The food was amazing. I had the big breakfast and it was perfect and I didn't have to wait long. Excellent place to go too.
We were really impressed with the cleanliness of this place first thing! The statue of the lumberjack and the water mill were nice additions for us tourists’ selfies! The coffee was good and the portions are lumberjack size! An honestly huge amount of food for the price! The food tasted heathy and not overly greasy! Our server was one of the most friendliest we’ve ever met and she is one of the originals from when the restaurant opened 18 years ago! WOW! We will definitely come back with our family! It’s a must stop in Redding!
They are very attentive to the customers. Large portions of food and the food taste great .Our friend lives in the area and brought us there for breakfast. So much to choose from but everything we ordered was great
We ordered burgers and they were very tasty. Cooked to perfection and the fries were well seasoned. If your on the road and looking to get a bite to eat, I’d recommend this spot. Norma was our server and she had a great sense of humor. Really made the experience great. Now the place isn’t super fancy, but it was clean and inviting. Easily 5-stars in my book.
Nice restaurant. Breakfast was good. Glad we made the stop. Service was nice.
I do not think we could not have done any better any where else. Great service, plenty of food, and good atmosphere.
Great food and amazing service. Never had to ask for anything as the server was always there before we needed to ask.
The food portions are GENEROUS! My sister and I shared a breakfast plate. Our server Nikki kept our coffee cups filled and checked on our table a couple of times, she was great. This place has really cute decor hanging from walls , keeping the lumberjack theme.
We stopped in for breakfast while having a vehicle serviced across the street. We decided to have breakfast while we were waiting and it was an excellent decision. One of us had a burger, one of us had an omelet, and I had a fantastic scramble. Actually, everyone was happy with their meal. We will all be returning! The food was hot and delicious, the hot drinks were hot and the cold drinks were spot on. I love the coffee mugs and I will be make a separate trip back just to buy some of those - if they sell them - and I hope they do. They were the perfect size to sit and hold on a cold day. And, the service was great!
Food was fantastic. We went on Thanksgiving so they has their specials and limited menu. I had their turkey dinner special which was so good! Wish they had more vegetarian options for my wife and gluten-free options for my father-in-law. But can understand the limited menu on a holiday. But overall, the service was great and very helpful in trying to find accommodations for vegetarian and gluten-free options. Also, portions were really big and their slogan, "Where the big boys eat", is completely true.
The food and the everything about the restaurant is Phenomenal and the employees , The cooks are AMAZING
Food is great! Staff is attentive and friendly. We had no wait for Sunday, brunch time. My son got a burger that was almost bigger than the plate. $75 (before tip) for 3 adults and 1 child for breakfast food..
Went there for breakfast and the food was great. The portions were large and can easily be shared. The waiters were attentive to our table and super friendly. Great family atmosphere and not super loud. Definitely will be back.
Such a family-friendly Place, had a great breakfast today.. service was outstanding!! I really can't say enough about the quality of food, not to mention the quantity They don't skimp on anything!!! very friendly and affordable, as well must try this place!! nice Decor as well!
Lumberjacks is one of my favorite local restaurants to go to. They always have the best food, no matter what I get, and their seasonal dishes are always creative and excellent. I love the decoration and architecture of the building, as well, and they often have lumberjack contests on the TVs, which I find quite entertaining. And I have always received great service, with friendly smiles and considerate staff.
The plates are huge and the food is really good. The coffee is quite good for a diner. Our service was great and we enjoyed our stop
The establishment's breakfast specials, available until 11:00 AM, are highly recommended. The bone-in ham and eggs, accompanied by hash browns or potatoes, and served with toast or a biscuit, are particularly noteworthy. The biscuits are generously sized. A side of gravy is suggested to complement the biscuit. Patrons can expect a satisfying dining experience.
When you’re on the road and need a break from eating Black Bear Diner all the time…. Come here and get almost the same delicious product….but in a lumberjack theme instead of a log cabin…. Just kidding it’s log cabin theme’d here too. Hostess, server and staff were all awesome. Shout out to manager Gary who was ultra friendly doing grunt work alongside the busers. Ty for having us and cheers!
My waitress was awesome. The food was awesome. The environment as bubbly and fun. Need I say more?!? Try that lumberjack biscuits and gravy.... HOLY SMOKES! And the ribeye... WHOA! I would drive 7 hours to Redding just to stop in there again. Wasn't a fan of the banana bread French toast though. You should do that with homemade banana bread. I could taste that "made in a factory" taste and it wasn't great. But that's ok... the rest was a SLAM DUNK! And our server (I believe she's native American)... YOU ROCK! She recommended some things and her personality made our brunch super entertaining!
Got the redwood burger shared it with my husband super good and large burger worth the price, also had the carmel apple mamosa totaly worth the price, employees were nice and polite as well would recomend eating here.
Chicken fried steak was excellent. Big portion so had a great snack for later.
The BIG REDWOOD 1LB BURGER!!!! Lumberjacks Redding CA. Took half this BURGER home for the boy. This was a good burger, everything you could want on it and they will make it however you want. It is served on a sourdough bun with pickles, tomatoes, onions, bacon and cooked well done or medium or rare if you like. Lacey got waffles with chocolate syrup that were served nice and hot. Service was awesome as well checked on us multiple times refilled our coffees as needed and made sure everything was okay.
Yenei was an incredible server. Prompt, professional, efficient, and bright countenance! Served us with excellence and brightened our day. Gary, the manager was an excellent man to have company with. Met our every need and struck up a good conversation. Highly recommend this place for incredible food, service, and to gain a new friendship!!
Great service, has new owner ship but food is wonderful with new ideas and generous portions won't go away hungry. Has senior special also. Atmosphere is good and morning coffee won't go empty 😉.
My wife and I can in for breakfast this morning. The food was tasty and hot and the portion of food served was enough to send me away nice and full. I personally want to thank to owner. While we were there another customer experienced a medical emergency. I’m a retired firefighter so I provided first aid and the owner comped our meal because I help the young woman. While it was not necessary nor was it expected, I appreciated his kindness. We will be back again. Thank you.
A bit busy on a Sunday morning, buy we still were seated pretty quickly. Wait staff is super friendly. Very rustic feeling, we loved it. My only noticeable complaint is the rips in a few booth seats. Coffee is great, in my opinion. Just a slight bitterness at the end. I drank it black. The breakfast food is in huge portion sizes. Food is delicious!
Took my kids here they all loved their food from french toast breakfast, grilled cheese, chicken strips and fries and at a reasonable price. I myself got the BBQ trio of chicken, tried tip and ribs with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy a small breaf loaf and loaded baked potato soup loved every bit of it except the ribs, they were a bit dry but would definitely eat here again.
We've been past Lumberjacks many times, today we stopped in and this is now our go to place when we're in Redding. Besides having a great atmosphere they have great food, decent prices and great service. Nice comfortable feel at home place. We had biscuits and gravy with sausage patties and pancakes with links. They now have a breakfast menu special with meals under ten dollars. The sausage patties were the best I've had in a very long time, I'd go back just for them.
Great find in Redding. Well maintained property. Beautiful garden and water fixtures. I had the prime rib and eggs breakfast. The best breakfast steak I've ever had. Great cut of meat cooked perfect. Server asked how crispy I'd like my hasbhbrowns. They're that thorough! They had a chridens menu selections and crayons for the kids. Servers were sweet, you can tell they cared about the restaurant. Enjoyable environment. Recommended!
Great service, great atmosphere, great food! I love the style of the tables as well. I had the biscuits and gravy substituting sausage for bacon, which, OMG, thick and delicious! The coffee cups are huge, with the coffee tasting delicious and creamers from local farms. I will definitely be back. Yummy!
This place was a lifesaver. The Redwood burger was amazing. I ordered it with no bun and substituted the bacon for some eggs with no problem with no secret sauce. I Also had a side of cottage cheese. A pleasant surprise that they had that on the menu. The 1 lb. burger was cooked a perfect medium rare and the veggies were fresh. The service was great which made the experience that much better. I would highly recommend this for anyone but especially those passing through and need some real food.
Best hot chocolate hands down, tasted ahhhmazing! I got the french toast and it was just delightful. The steak was also delicious. The staff were friendly to us as well. We got the berry cobbler for a dessert and it was marvelous. The only con is that their parking lot is small, they need more parking!

I have been going to this place for years now, Lunmberjacks is by far our family go to place to eat. Great service, great atmosphere, great food! I really enjoy how they have season “Spotlight” mini menu of food. There pancakes are a little on the sweet side, I know how can pancakes be to sweet but they are and when you add the sweet butter on top, just adds to it. BUT still really good! One cake is about all the sugar I can handle in one sitting. There coffee is out of this world. Coffee at a dinner makes it or breaks it, if the coffee is horrible I will never go there again. To many good things to list them all! Now the only reason they are not getting a 5 star rather then the 4 star I am giving them, is due to the fact they have a new manager there. Ewardo was the previous manager and he made the place! He was the shining light the second you open the door. Would always come to your table and see how the food was and if there is anything he could do. It is sad that he is gone. The new manager is normally no where to be found, he or she has never come to my table to check up or really anything. Idk if they hide in there office all day but I have never seen he or she on the floor doing anything. I go there regularly so this is not coincidental. Beside the lack of leadership that I see as a customer, the place is still great.
The food is usually great. Only been disappointed once. We do not live in California but visit this restaurant while traveling. Very nice staff.
Conveniently located near I-5, Lumberjack’s appears to be a very popular place with the locals - always an indication of a good food spot. Plenty of close parking, clean and neat inside and out. Charming ambiance and friendly, professional staff. Abundant entree choices at reasonable prices.
My finance and I order the ultimate lumberjack meal (or something along those lines) and split it ourselves. It was very good eggs cooked well hashbrowns were delicious and the French toast was good too. Service was pleasant and quick. Good quality and service for price overall. Would eat again.
We were driving from SF to Oregon, looking forward a place where we could sit down to enjoy a meal, not cramped in a car to eat and make a mess! The staff was great, very pleasant. It was almost 3pm on a week day, but there were still decent amount of patrons. We were very hungry, first meal of the day! The wraps were very fresh! We added a Mediterranean wrap after trying their Californian wrap. BBQ combo plate was good except the ribs were very charred and dry, too much sauce for us. Everything else on the plate was good. Overall it was a great experience, and we will come back to try other items on the menu. Thank you for staying open!
I came here by myself for lunch, just after noon. There was no wait and I was sat immediately. My waitress, Brittney, was fantastic. She was kind and popped by the table just enough to be a great waitress in my book. I always disliked servers who are either nowhere to be found or always around and asking you questions when you just took a bite of your food! She was perfect! I originally planned on ordering breakfast, but the picture of the prime rib sandwich won me over. So that's what I ordered. And I sprung for the sweet potato fries at an extra charge of $1.26. The food took no time to come out and was really good. The fries were a bit too hot and needed to cool down before I could taste them. But that just meant they were fresh. I did notice that they charge a $3 fee if you come with one other person and order one meal to share between the both of you. This is the first time I've seen a restaurant charge a "splitting fee". But if that doesnt deter you, this place is a great. All in all, I was in and out in under an hour. Hoping to come back with co-workers so I can try more items from the menu.
I can't recommend the dish my mother and I had for lunch off the little less option. It was a open faced hot turkey sandwich with gravy, mashed potatoes & cranberry sauce. It was excellent. Perfect portion, fresh, great turkey gravy. Our hostess was sweet, even though it appeared that the other waitresses were giving her a hard time. It appeared maybe the hostess was new and the waitresses had a almost hazing type attitude toward her. Like high school. It was somewhat distracting. But we got over it as we had an excellent waiter! He was attentive and seemed not involved with the others pettiness. When we left we were sure to walk by the waitresses to get to the hostess to tell her what a great job she was doing and how nice it was to be seated by someone that was so kind to everyone. But yes I would totally recommend this restaurant.
3-7-22 Came back and this time we had a great server. Theresa was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. Food was good. We left feeling stuffed. I would come back. The food we ordered was all good. Portions were huge. I could definitely share a plate with my husband next time. The price is decent. Food was out pretty quick and hot. The server could have been a bit more friendly but I think it was her personality.
Update: A bit of a wait, staff were clear about letting kitchen staff catch up on orders. As busy as it was, staff fulfilled tasks in good manner. Food was plentiful and prices decent. Didn't care much for the French toast this time, but sauce on Egg Benedict was good. Orig: First time in here, waiter was friendly and was able to give menu info/feedback and suggestions. Portions are large, the ham is delicious & thick as opposed to many chain breakfast joints. I recommend the banana nut french toast.

Great stop for breakfast. We found this by accident on our way home from a camping trip and everything we ordered was so good. Definitely hope to find myself in the area again so I can eat here.

Have been eating here for many years and have always had good service and food. They have always been able to fit us in with a short wait even when we have a larger group.
Our server Javier was great, very accomodating pleasant, the food however was institutional. The marinara was tinny from a can, the chicken fingers were very juicy and not dry, the mozzarella sticks were cooked well, the chocolate pudding tasted like Kozy Shack. The baked potato was good, but needed chives and bacon. It says it is under new ownership, but it didn't seem like it. This would be more for college students hanging out. Despite that, I did tip well because Javier was awesome!
It has been a while since I was last there so I don't know what to say about the atmosphere here 🤔
The food here is good but the portions are massive and the prices are on the high side. We paid $75 for breakfast for two people. We would definitely split a plate next time. They didn’t offer us an itemized receipt so I’m not sure why it was so high. The place was mostly clean and the service was ok.
Beautiful diner right off the I5, service was great, music was great, atmosphere was good. Only huge complaint that every family member had, salt in everything cooked. Steak? Salt. Ribs? Salt. Stuffing? Salt. Breakfast? Salt. Whoever the chef was tonight, he was either having a bad night, or has lost all taste buds to salt and needs to retake cooking class....
Grateful they were open on Christmas. The food was delectable with one exception; the chocolate cream pie. Crust was tough, whipped cream tasted like cool whip, and the chocolate filling...? I don't know what other flavor they mixed in with the chocolate (lemon, maybe) (vinegar, maybe) but it was definitely not just chocolate. I have to say it was the worst chocolate pie I have ever had in my 60+ years. I think i was mostly bothered by the fact that i had to pay 3 bucks extra over the meal special price because I'm not a fan of pumpkin pie that was included with the special. The turkey was perfect! Done yet still juicy. Amazing! Stuffing well seasoned and very tasty. Real mashed potaoes! And soft dinner rolls. The service was marginal, but one must consider that they were swamped due to the holiday. Our server was quite forgetful, but her coworkers made up for her inadequacies and with a smile! (that she also, failed to deliver). All in all, it was a very pleasant meal at a good value!!
Ok, bear with me, I hate saying bad things...so. Staff was great, helpful, friendly and courteous. Place was clean. However, all food is Sysco or Unifi, with very little done to enhance them beyond heating them up. Appetizer sampler, chicken tenders, onion rings, motz sticks and sweet potato fries, all over cooked in old burned oil and straight off the truck. Ordered the $27 ribeye, asked specifically if it was thick or thin, told over half inch. Ordered it medium, came out rare (super thin, less than 1/4 inch, cooked from frozen is my guess), they made another..well done. My wife's taco salad exceeded expectations. Again, all straight from a truck, but executed well and HUGE. Good value. Got coconut cream pie. Again, straight from a truck, then they thawed it (custard still a liquid) and put whipped cream on it, not the cooked merengue in the picture. Place was busy all day ( had errands all around it, parking lot was full), so it is popular, and despite business being good, quick friendly service. Problems do not appear to be staff, but menu decisions and execution.
I really have no complaints, did not have anything special, just bacon and eggs. Service was good, decaf coffee was horrible, but regular coffee good enough. Just nothing to write home about.
Staff was very nice and the place was clean It was busy so getting a glass of water wasn’t easy Server didn’t know the menu he could have been new but very polite and nice Food not so good and expensive for what we got Sorry no pictures I had liver and onions Liver was a super thin slice and burnt crispy lots of bacon bits straight from the jar onions were fresh and not burnt so I only ate them Husband had chicken fried steak again super thin under 1/4 in mostly breading crust And well over cooked I asked for fruit as I saw the vegetables were heated straight out of the can But the baked potatoes were cooked perfect
Atmosphere was fine. Service was lacking. She couldn't seem to remember to bring me creamers for my coffee, but had plenty of time to play with the baby a couple tables over from me. Breakfast prices were on the high end for what you get in my opinion. The cinnimon roll that accompanied my breakfast was dry, overcooked and appeared to have been slapped on the grill in a futile attempt to make it edible. French toast was bland and tasteless. There are better options in Redding.
Every meal I've gotten here was disappointing, only keep coming because family like it here...
One big complaint is its very expensive. I ordered a omelet 16.99 wanted to know if I wanted hash browns. Fruit, I chose the first. 5.99. Got some avocado with it 4 very thin slices 1.79 coffee, 1.59 Tea, 1.59 got the bill almost $36.00 I dont know of any place where a breakfast is charged separately for each item. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
Nice clean place, great service. Our waitress was really nice and kind and brought our food right away. The food was expensive and it was horrible. We paid 15 something for a tiny little burger and a little bit of coleslaw that tasted funny. My taco salad would have been good if the meat wasn't burnt, the meat was so burnt. It ruined the taco salad, but the mini corn dogs and the fries were good. Great portion for a little guy
Roaches, roaches everywhere! In the daytime, in the dining room, during breakfast on the tables

We were there for lunch on 7-14-25. There were not many people in the Restaurant. As we were seated I noticed a table of six men waiting for their order. It looked like they had been there for a while. The waitress when bringing their food she apologized for being so late. We must have been there for about 20 minutes before our food came. We ordered hamburgers. My granddaughter's hamburger was cremated. She had ordered it medium, and I ordered my hamburger well medium. They were dry and the bread was flatten. The waitress asked how everything was, I told her it was not so good. Then another waitress talk to us about what was the problem. I told her what the problem was. Then she went to talk with the cook. She came back and told me, well you ordered yours well medium well done. The hamburger was so dry . It was disgusting. They need a new Cook. You can cook a hamburger well done without turning out like sawdust! It was obvious the person who was on grill did not know how to cook .
The new apple cranberry salad was a real disappointment. Half a head of lettuce overwhelmed the apple, nuts and cranberries. The chicken was tasty. Looking back I should have refused it but I was so hungry...my bad. I would suggest taking it off the menu- not sure how it passed to be added in the first place. Waitress was great...
We got food poisoning, honestly I'm about to give up eating out here in Redding the quality of food is just terrible out here and the sad part is its a huge waste of money to pay over $50 for two people to eat bad food. Idk where these positive reviews come from. The steak was so dry, nothing was good. We all got sick and we both had different dishes. I make better food at home honestly shut this place down!
Don't get home delivery, they can't seem to duplicate what they serve at the restaurant. 4th time with the order being wrong. And I mean more than 1 thing that's incorrect, try 3 or more!!! Wrong fries, disgusting lettuce on my burger, no small bread loaf, and the kicker dried out chicken fried steak that's usually smothered in gravy that looks like the picture.... we ate side salads for dinner and these were returned for the manager to see and deal with. Will follow up if he does. Really sad because we eat in restaurant often but..... we'll see.
I’ve eaten here before so I know the foods good. I was just unprepared to get entirely IGNORED. I walk in with my son for a sit down and All the servers in there, not one even acknowledged we existed other than to ask if I was door dash. They didn’t say be right with you, or anythin. After a few I finally had to ask if this place is a damn chain for how they treat customers smh. I am a waitress and I would Never not greet folks like that. Let me know what kind of service I was gonna get so I left. Will not be back. Train your staff.
Went on Dec 30th 2025 for dinner. The meal and service was terrible. I had also noticed at another table ine if the customers was complaining about his meal and he returned it and left. What's a shame i was there about a month ago and the service and food was great. I will not be going back and I will tell people not to go there. It is a shame that at one point they were good. From good to really bad.
Went for dinner. Restaurant was freezing (I had my coat on the whole time. Took forever to get our food. Got the early bird new york steak. Manager apologized for the wait said someone forgot to take the steaks out. It was more like a flank steak. Lots of gristle. They put this oily butter/garlic sauce on it, which was not listed on the menu. It was congeling on the plate, before 1/2 was eaten. Baked potato was cold. Had to take Tums before even out of the parking lot.
