A bit on the pricey side but that’s the flaw of fancy restaurants like this one. I’d recommend their grilled chicken; not greasy and well cooked and their fries as well. I also want to add, one blonde waitress had a snitty attitude but she probably got fired or something, because I don’t see her working there anymore thankfully
The Boiler Steak House – Ukiah, CA We had an amazing experience at The Boiler Steak House in Ukiah! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming, and perfect for a great meal. The food was outstanding — perfectly cooked steaks, rich flavors, and high-quality ingredients that really show the care the kitchen puts into every dish. Everything we ordered was delicious and well presented. What truly made the night exceptional was our server, Maria. She was friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional. Maria made sure we had everything we needed, checked in at just the right times, and made us feel genuinely taken care of. Her great attitude and excellent service really elevated the whole experience. If you’re looking for a top-notch steakhouse in Ukiah with amazing food and outstanding service, The Boiler Steak House is a must-visit — and if you can, ask for Maria! We’ll definitely be back.
No frills but delicious steak house. I come here for work and they are always accommodating and the staff is super kind and helpful. Highly suggested for anyone with a big party or just a date night.
Our favorite place zone 1960s. Quality, food, service, atmosphere it's a vibe. Best place for a steak. Love the house salad dressing. Recently had the grilled salmon and asked for a cup of minced garlic on the side. It was so good beautifully grilled. Recently order Seafood pasta too. It was delicious.
I hadn’t been to the Broiler in 15 years and was amazed it was a good now as it was then. It is warm, comfortable and inviting like going to a favorite relatives house. The host was bright and personable while the staff was there to satisfy all needs, we didn’t have to want for anything. Try the Prime Rib on the weekend, it’s to die for.
If you are in Mendocino county or just driving through on the 101 and have a craving for a superb steak or some good sea food then this place is a MUST. It’s worth the journey if you make one. They have been at it for a long time and their food and service reflects that. I can’t think of a steak house I rather go. The service was stellar and the facility clean. Have fun!
What a wonderful way to spend a birthday dinner with my love. Atmosphere was wonderful. Soft music playing in the background. Service was friendly and on top of it, never letting a glass go empty, never had to look for a server. Food was amazing. The house salad dressing was very yummy. I had the rib steak perfectly cooked full of flavor. He had the chicken pasta and he loved it. The portions were huge! We well be going back again and again. Thank you so much. We had a perfect dinner night!
Sometimes service is a little slow at first, but then picks up. Prime rib was soft, tender, and delicious. Atmosphere feels like you're in the 1990s.
If the drive wasn't an hour, I would love to eat here regularly. The nostalgia of the atmosphere, service, food and procedures feels so good now that we're living in the future. the 3 of us ordered the prime rib in both sizes and the grilled shrimps. We had fries and baked potatoes. Next time I'll get a different steak for sure! or maybe the pasta. I really liked the salad and bread. We went on a Sunday, so the minestrone was a delicious surprise. We went on a birthday, so I was really looking forward to ordering something fancy for dessert, but instead got a free ice cream, which was delicious and simple. My spicy bloody Mary (with horseradish, not Tabasco, the other option) was small and DELICIOUS with the grilled shrimp skewer, which came with a few bell pepper wedges too. Fries portion is generous. Plenty of salad. EXCELLENT service from the busboy and waiter!!!
Excellent food and service in an old building that could probably use some maintenance. I’ll stop here when I’m in the area without hesitation. Had to wait about 10 minutes at the bar for a table for four.
Salad was huge. Too much. Blue cheese dressing was weak. Minestrone Soup was burnt. Sourdough bread delicious. We both got prime rib. Get Petite cut as we got hearty and it was huge. Its the nicest restaurant around. I see why its packed. Much nicer inside than the Winchester mystery house it is on the outside. Better blue cheese would go a long way, less spinach in the Minestrone as it makes it bitter. But we would definitely go back.
Steak was overcooked for everyone except the 2 who got the T bone special. We were a party of 7. We had a waiter named Devin very attentive and was very nice probably the only reason I ranked it as high as I did. Would've been a 1 star without this kid and his friendliness.
The waitress took her three times to count my change back each time I had to tell her . No try again. A second waitress even came over and together still had difficulty. The rib eye was supposed to be well done... it was medium at best but so tough and chewy I was unable to eat it . A very rough experience for 42 dollar meal that was inedible.
Lived here my entire life and it has never been this bad….Tried to order to go at 6 pm…they couldn’t provide😂 I think what it is—is that they just don’t like to-go orders or something🫣…..The food was best in the “Glen” era of this place (if you know you know)—has gone kinda downhill since jmo….Ukiah Brewing company will get my business tonight instead…..it’s a shame I’m trying to give you $64 for a simple to-go order (2 items) and you can’t even take my money🤣do better.
This is a place I want to love. We were recommended to go here for a great steak... the "best in the area." My husband and I went here for dinner over the weekend - arriving around 7:30pm. The place was pretty empty, but we waited at the bar for about 15 minutes for a table. The bar tenders were attentive and my dirty martini was spot on - I had two! When we were seated, the menu was short, which I hoped would indicate a well curated, delicious meal. We started with the shrimp cocktail, which was good, though it didn't seem fresh (maybe frozen). The break was warm and soft, but unremarkable. The salad dressing options for our family-style salad were Italian, Thousand Island, and **. The salad was basic green, with beets and garbanzo beans. My husband ordered the Halibut, which was overcooked and dense. I ordered the filet mignon, which was fatty and the cut of meat was unappealing. Both of our backed potatoes were dry and the topping options were sour cream and butter. We were offered "chives," which was actually parsley. We passed on dessert. The venue is dated, but could be described as nostalgic or a throwback to the 80s. Coming from Lake County, I hoped to fine a place worth driving to, but we may have to keep looking.
I've been going to the Broiler for the past 32+ years. Recently the food has been horrible. Asked for medium well and received raw bloody steaks TWICE. Thought they'd fix it the first time I sent it back but the second steak was even worse. It was burnt and marinating in a pool of half inch deep blood on the plate. On top of that the cuts of meat seem to be a lot cheaper now. Mostly gristle and fat. The staff are always great and super friendly. Spent $250 on dinner for four. Never have had these issues before but recently it feels like the quality has gone downhill. They definitely need a cook that knows how to actually cook. On top of that the place is falling apart. Nasty moldy ceiling tiles. Some are just missing from the roof leaking. Sad to see cuz it WAS a treasure for our town. I use to love this place and always spoke highly of it but i won't be going back anytime soon and won't recommend at all. Waste of money.
After waiting 40 minutes to get seated, which would normally have been ok because the Broiler always had the best food, our waitress was terrible, the beef was tough, they gave me the wrong side dish AND steak and when we wanted potato with everything, they didn’t bring the sour cream until 15 minutes after the meal was served! What is going on with this place? This has never happened before. It was my husband’s birthday too!
Came here expecting a nice dinner and order d a few medium rare steaks and filet mignons. Had their house salad and each had a few servings, then suddenly a live fly crawls out the salad on our plate. A living-crawling dirty fly. On top of that, all of our meat was over-cooked, dry, cold, and lacked flavor. And the bill? No compensation. Told our waitress and the manager comps our second round of sodas. Thats it. That’s what $5? Asked for a discount for the fly and the overcooked steaks and was denied. The medium rare steaks durned out well-done at best. Also cold. Managed the finish the steaks as we don’t waste food but this is an absolute disaster of a place. Overall the food was poor in quality, appearance, taste, and lacked appeal. Please do not dine here unless you like eating flies and dry-over cooked cardboard tasting meat.
