Cute cafe to grab a quick good bite and drink with a friend or two. The food here usually is pretty good, service is nice, and it's a cute atmosphere. Free WIFI. Never usually TOO busy, but I've seen it happen here. They have little nooks where you can sit on the floor and eat that are pretty cool (have to take off your shoes). Would like if those nooks came with back rests, but I get why they don't have them. Not suitable for large groups to dine in.
Really good, curated coffee menu! They put a lot of thought and care into everything from their bean selection to their recipes. The Japanese comfort food is really tasty too. The omurice and curries are our faves. And my kids love the rice that comes out shaped like a panda! So cute. Make your way here!
This is my go to for Vietnamese coffee. Best Vietnamese coffee I’ve had so far in the DFW. The chicken katsu was pretty good too. The fries are also some of the best I’ve ever had in the DFW. The reward system is nice too I like getting the free drink or appetizer every now and then as a regular. Atmosphere is nice and relaxed
One of my favorite coffee shops in Richardson- such a chill and cozy indoor area, always have a great selection of seasonal drinks, and the food is BOMB !! My go to is an iced white mocha (sometimes with ube cold foam for the flavor) and their curry katsu rice is sooo yummy and filling! Staff are always friendly 🥰
Great local cafe with consistent and friendly servers good at customizing matcha or coffee drinks. Bento box special on Wednesdays is a good price and food is delicious. Their chicken katsu is 😗👌🏻. Highly recommend for a lunch spot or as a cafe to get work done (lots of plugs and fast WiFi)!
This is my go to coffee shop despite a 25 minute drive there. The staff have consistently gone above and beyond and are always super welcoming, friendly, and helpful. On top of the customer service the drinks there are always delicious without being too sweet or overpowering, and there’s always a ton of variety to pick from. Fortunately though it doesn’t end there, the food as well is consistently spectacular and consistent and makes it one of my favorite places to sit down and work as I always leave caffeinated and full on good food without needing to go anywhere else to fix that need.
ohhhh man i got words for this i don’t wanna type out but man this place is wonderful. i been here twice and its never let me down both times. both times i got the loaded fries and mmmm mmm mmm god damn… they’re good. the drinks u get here are also quality n atmosphere is top notch. they even have those little booths u can sit criss cross apple sauce in. 10/10 place love it 😊careful low cars, the entrance to the lot is quite steep 😰
We had a great experience when recently visited. Mathew took our order and gave suggestions when asked. He was very helpful and checked to see if we liked our food. I ordered the Tonkatsu Bento Box and a pandan matcha. Both were very good. Mathew recommended the pandan matcha because I didn’t want anything too sweet. He even explained what a pandan plant was.
Okaeri cafe is such a gem 💎 we loved all the vibes and delicious food. The staff were super sweet and gave great recommendations. The drinks were all amazing and the kimichi dog was absolutely to die for. We also tried the yakisoba with pork and it was so tasty, the loaded fries hit the spot and the pork bun was so fluffy! The interior is perfect, 1000% recommend
Everything was very nice. When we went, it was a bit busy. There are only a few tables and 3 sitting areas. Quit a few people where sitting and chatting taking up tables. While I understand the why, there isn't enough seating for this. Definitely eat and move on kinda space. However, others seemed to get the hint when they saw others waiting and would leave. The staff was friendly and the food was hot and very fresh. Everything was very yummy, and the curry was a highlight. Very cute place to try Japanese food if you haven't before.
The Coconut Matcha Cold Foam drink was unique. It reminded me of the slightly sour taste of fresh coconut juice I once had in the Maldives, blending beautifully with the matcha foam. Aside from the foam, the drink itself wasn’t very sweet, which I actually enjoyed. The potato croquette was excellently made—served hot and crispy on the outside, with a filling so smooth and soft that even a baby could eat it. The curry had a mild kick of spice, and the potatoes and carrots were tender, as if they had been simmered for a long time. It came with a pork cutlet that was thick, perfectly cooked, and seasoned simply with what seemed like just pepper, giving it a clean, savory flavor. The cutlet was also nicely crispy. Pink pickled ginger was served on top, though I personally would have preferred it on a separate dish. For dessert, I tried a pineapple matcha ice cream, which was an intriguing combination. The slight bitterness of matcha was wrapped in the sweetness of pineapple, and the icy, crunchy texture of the ice cream was delightful. The staff were friendly, and there’s a cozy area with floor seating that made the atmosphere both comfortable and fun.
Absolutely love this cafe. It was my first time here and I honestly didn’t expect it to be Japanese themed. I got a white mocha lavender (hot) and it tasted great. I think it needs a bit more lavender but it’s not that big of a deal. I really like the little corner that had the claw machines and funko pops, and other figurines. I think it was very creative and cool. My brother ordered Yakisoba and Taiyaki. The Yakisoba was incredible. I loved how the mushrooms had a gummy texture and when you chewed them you would squeeze out flavor. The pork (I think it was pork) had perfect texture and flavoring along with noodles and vegetables. It was my first time trying Taiyaki and I was blown away. The breading had a perfect crunchy waffle like texture and it was super fluffy on the inside. I didn’t expect the bean paste to go so well with it, it was perfectly sweet and delicious. Nothing took too long and nothing was overdone. Cafe was nice and peaceful.
Okaeri Cafe is an absolute hidden gem, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. From the moment you step inside, the cozy decor and friendly staff create a welcoming experience that sets the tone for an unforgettable visit. The highlight of my visit was the ube matcha latte—a perfect fusion of earthy matcha and sweet, nutty ube. The flavors were incredibly well-balanced, with the matcha’s slight bitterness complementing the creamy sweetness of the ube. It was smooth, rich, and not overly sweet, making it one of the best matcha drinks I’ve ever had. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients, and the attention to detail in presentation made it even more enjoyable. Beyond drinks, their pastries and light bites were just as impressive. The mochi pancakes were soft, chewy, and paired beautifully with their house-made syrups. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully crafted, making it clear that Okaeri Cafe is dedicated to quality. The staff was exceptionally kind and attentive, ensuring every guest felt cared for. Whether you’re here to catch up with friends, study, or simply enjoy a peaceful moment, this cafe is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be returning to try more items from their menu. Highly recommend!
10/5 stars!!!!!! This place is the absolute best! The portions and huge! Both food and drinks are delicious so this place is worth every penny! The atmosphere is very chill and nice I loved it. The staff were amazing, welcoming and nice! Even the bathrooms were well kept! I’m torn because I really love this place so it’s a battle to either gate keep to spread the word! But honestly I would recommend this place to everyone and continue to come and support!
Amazing little place. Customer service was amazing. Food was perfect. Great combination of textures and flavors. Every thing was cooked to perfection! The in side is super clean and well organized. I wish we had more stuff like this closer to my home. I had the bento box and it was perfect. Great prifor the amount of food you get. Pork was cooked excellent. Partner had curly and it was just as a good. I had a ice coffee and again perfect. I can't rave enough about this place.
The presentation look good , the katsu curry was okay , I don’t like omurice much
First time here and the food was exceptional, I tried a pumpkin spice matcha latte and it was the highlight next to the fries. Quite a long wait time between ordering and serving. The drinks came after 20 minutes and the food took another 30 minutes. We spent well around 2 hours dining in to celebrate a thirteenth birthday and the staff was very hospitable. Free mochi offered for the birthday girl thank you 😊
I visited in May with a group of friends & had the Shrimp Katsu Curry. It was my first time trying Japanese curry and it was delicious! Would definitely recommend for the flavor! The only thing that I would note is that it's a bit tight sitting in their floor seating area if you have more than 2 people and/or on the taller side.
This is such a cute spot!! We came here to check out their egg sando and some other dishes and we were pleasantly surprised! The egg salad sando tasted identical to the ones we would buy from 7/11 in Japan. Same texture, consistency, flavor and most importantly, the same taste in the milk bread. My husband and I ordered some bento boxes and we both agreed the shrimp one tasted better than the chicken one but the chicken one wasn’t awful! It was just okay. The shrimp one is definitely one we strongly recommend to get if you’re going to get a bento box. Unfortunately though we didn’t love the potato salad, it didn’t feel airy like other Japanese style potato salads but it was still a generous serving! We also tried out the melon cream soda which was refreshing! Presentation was also nice too, wasn’t the best dessert I’ve ever had though but it was still very enjoyable! Strawberry cold foam matcha latte was definitely pretty good! The presentation, the matcha flavor, the sweetness from the strawberry. This alone would make me come back! And they have like 8+ other flavor combinations of matcha to try from! Need to try more! Atmosphere is great, this place was decorated by someone who really loves Japan and Japanese culture! They even have tatami/traditional style seating which I’m personally not used to so I wasn’t a fan of it but it is definitely nice to have as an option. They do have regular seating as well! Hope to come back again in the near future!
Went here on a whim, and there wasn't too many people which was nice. Fun little cafe to be in. The curry I got only had 2 pieces of carrots and 2 pieces of potato, which definitely isn't a lot since I was able to remember each piece that I ate. My girlfriend enjoyed her whole bento box. Overall it was all cooked nicely, and the vibes were nice in the cafe as a whole. Got a hot chocolate to go which was nice, and my girlfriend got a matcha latte which was made with good quality matcha. Never had taiyaki before, and my brain couldn't comprehend sweet beans no matter how many bites I took. Would go back to try more fun drinks that they have.
A solid 4 stars. There is limited seating so it made for a wait. The food was delicious. The rice and the fries were a little hard but the flavor was good for everything. Staff and service were great. Very kind and apologetic for the wait. It was kind of weird. They seat you, but then you go back up to the counter to order and then they bring your food out. Prices were reasonable. Do be sure to check the menu online because the printed one has less offerings. They do honor the online menu, though. We had the Okaeri loaded fries, Omurice Curry, and the Kids Teriyaki.
