I never write reviews, but this server absolutely can’t go unmentioned. Gretchen went above and beyond in every way, from her warm, genuine attitude to her attention to every little detail. She made the entire experience feel special and effortless. It’s rare to come across someone who truly loves what they do, and it shows in her service. If you’re lucky enough to have Gretchen as your server, you’re in great hands. Truly outstanding!

We just love this place and have been coming for years and tonight we were blessed to have Gretchen as our waitress she was fantastic. She displayed extraordinary customer service and was just amazing. She also explained to us about the laundry's select reward program which she explained very thoroughly to us how it worked so we went ahead and joined the club and were super excited about it because it has lots of benefits that we weren't aware of until tonight. We had the best service ever tonight at SaltGrass steakhouse in Rockwall. I told my wife we will have to request Gretchen every time we visit. She was smart, attentive, fast, and friendly which made for a most pleasant and wonderful evening out. Thanks Gretchen, you are a fantastic waitress!

We had a delicious Sunday dinner. Steak so tender and perfect sides and drinks. The only thing better than the meal? Our waiter, Kyle was attentive and checked often to make sure was all in order; he was pleasant and made our evening wonderful. Teddy, the manager on duty was very active in seeing that service went well. He also backed our opinion of the quality experience and service. Yeah. We will be back!

I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff were excellent, you never had to ask for refills. They brought you a new drink right on time. The food was so delicious and hot when you got it. They made our first experience great. It is a little pricey but in my opinion worth it 100%. If you haven't gone at least once, you should. The stakes are perfect

First time at Saltgrass and we had a totally AWESOME experience. The manager, Teddy, was great. He explained their policy of every server, every table. Basically, you don't have to feel like you need to ask your server for something, you can ask any server. Our server was super friendly. We like to sit and enjoy a couple of drinks and appetizer and hold off ordering for a while. She stopped by often, but didn't 'bug' us. Saltgrass is our new #1.

Servers are very quick here during the weekdays when I visit, and I have always had a great experience each time I visit. The steaks are always a good go to when it comes to ordering off the menu. They have great sides as well (they are all great choices). If you have enough room, their desserts are also a great addition to any meal. Will be back again. Thanks for the good experience.

Food was absolutely amazing and the service was phenomenal. Went there for my dad's birthday and our amazing server Maddy was very attentive and wrote "happy birthday" on our plate! She also gave a candle and lit it for us. 10/10 would be absolutely coming here again

There was a 40 minute wait to get in and be seated but, it was extremely packed tonight, I'm assuming from the State Fair tonight. Food was excellent! We had Cajun seasoned steak, Cesar salads, Sirloin steak/jumbo shrimp duo and a couple of drinks. Service was superb! The atmosphere has very comfortable and relaxing so, the wait to get in was definitely worth it! Staff was in point and friendly so, you all get a 💯 from this food/service critic. Keep up the good work!

Food was SO GOOD, definitely exceeded our expectations. We got exactly what we ordered and our waiter Brandon was super attentive. Food was cooked to perfection and tasty as hell. Place is a little expensive but definitely worth it if you have a little cash to throw around and you're hungry! 5/5 stars from me!

We went to Saltgrass Steak House for a Date Night and it turned out to be the perfect place. Once we arrived there was about a 20 minute wait before we were seated to our booth. Our server came to greet us with a smile. He was nice, attentive and very respectful. Thirty minutes later we were receiving our food. The rolls and cinnamon butter were one of my favorites. We did however make a statement about one of the Chicken Fried Chickens being so small for the price that it was. There was no fuss about fixing the problem, they offered us another one but we chose a house salad instead. Everything was passed satisfactory and tasty. The meal was well worth the $45 we spent. We will be back for another visit!

Food was on point. We are never disappointed in Salt Grass, so we continue to be a Landry’s member. The only issue was the hour wait, but it was a Friday night so we expected it.

A once great steakhouse now masquerading as a Chili's. Over the years, we have watched everything deteriorate. The food, the service and the atmosphere. It once was a place you would take people for a special occasion, now you have guys in hoodies with noisy kids at the table next you. The food is still above average. The Steaks are good. The appetizers are done well, but not unique. The sides feel like no attention has been paid to them. They are adequately cooked and plopped on the plate. They still draw crowds, (Probably when Texas Roadhouse is full.)

Trying to be healthy in Texas

I love steak! When paying the kind of prices charged at Saltgrass, I expect more. I visited twice near the Christmas holidays, and while the entrées were cooked correctly and had good taste, for the price, there are better options. I ordered the 16-oz Pat's Ribeye once and the 12-oz once. They seek to impress with large cuts, but sacrifice thickness to fill the plate. The free loaves of Shiner Bock Beer Bread are fresh, tasty, and a real attraction. Their salads are crispy with great croutons. I had baked sweet potatoes both times and was impressed. The service both times was attentive, friendly, and personable, without being obtrusive. My experiences found the ambiance a little loud, but they were full both times. Saltgrass has a lot going for it, but it is a steakhouse. The steaks at this price point should be something to rave about, in my opinion, and that starts in the butcher shop.

When it's Birthday, time our go-to spot for an affordable steak is always, Saltgrass in Rockwall. Located conveniently off of I30 on the West side service road. We are Landrys Select Club members, which offers points with each visit and, when reaching a certain dollar amount, will reward the member with a $25 credit to use. Also, with birthdays, the issuing member receives a courtesy $25 credit. It's a great reward program that you have to purchase to opt into, but the card never expires and pays for itself over time. Now, on with my review. Saltgrass is a true Texas Steakhouse, which is all Texas classy themed. The entrance is large with bottles of wine in cases behind the host stand. They have a nice bar area to the right that serves a wide range of specialty mixed drinks, assorted beers, and wine. We always dine later to avoid crowds if you dine earlier be expected to wait to be seated, especially during weekends and holidays. We were seated quickly at a table that was roomy for 2. The waitress, Maria, was very organized and quick to take our drink orders and bringing us freshly baked soda bread with honey butter, a fan favorite. We did order an appetizer of queso with brisket. The appetizer arrived very quickly. My only complaint was that there was only a small amount of Brisket on the queso. However, it was very delicious. We placed our meal order. My husband ordered the petite filet medium with crabcake, which is covered in an Oscar Creamy sauce with lump crab meat. This comes with a choice of salad or soup and a side. He chose a house salad with the homemade Blu cheese dressing and a loaded baked potato. My dinner choice was the 12 oz Pat's Ribeye, Medium Rare, with the crabcake. I also chose the house salad with the yummy homemade ranch dressing and the steamed broccoli. The salads came out quickly, and then, within 20 minutes, our dinner arrived. My husband petite filet was cooked more medium rare, which he did enjoy and was glad it was cooked less. My 12 oz Pat's Ribeye (side note, I usually order the 16 oz because the 12 oz is not as thick and tends to be cooked more at a medium which is over cooked for my taste, but I wanted the crabcake accompaniment) my steak was cooked more at a medium, but I did not want to fuss, it was my husband's birthday and no need to complain because it was delicious. I have never had the crabcake before, but it was a delicious accompaniment and complimented my steak well. The broccoli was not overcooked and was very delicious. My husband said his steak was the best he ever had there. We were full and happy and did not need to order dessert, but I can attest to the yummy goodness of their homemade carrot cakes and two fork cheesecake. Our waitress, Maria, was on her top game. She kept our dinner flowing with great timing and refills of drinks and freshly baked soda bread. They have great support staff, and one of the managers came over to thank us for our Landry card membership and wanted to know if we would like to use the $25 credit we had. Our dinner roughly cost $98 without tip. We did not have alcoholic drinks or desserts. This place is more upscale, so dress appropriately. They have a cute patio that had patio lights. The women's room is large and somewhat clean for 9:30 pm. On the back of the door in the womens room, it says mens room like you're about to go in there. Cute little joke. They do have an open kitchen concept where you can observe the chefs busy preparing the food going out. Plenty of parking includes large handicapped parking spaces and handicapped wheelchair access. The restaurant is decorated with Texas memorabilia and also large screened TVs which have sports playing. There is a dining section that had a nice stoned fireplace. For a great steak, ribs, chicken, and seafood choices, I highly recommend this Texas tradition.

Just had my last bad steak at Salt Grass steakhouse in Rockwall, Texas. Paid approximately $40.00 for a 16 oz Ribeye. How could I go wrong???? I don't know if I am even capable of picking a ribeye steak in a grocery store, Walmart included, with the amount of gristle I found in this steak. Even the fat cap was chewy to the point of not enjoying the steak at all. It was cooked great but the gristle was unbelievable. I left well over half of the steak on the plate and did not want it put in the take home box with my wife's filet. This should have tipped off the waiter but no questions were asked. You can't take home a steak like that and expect it to be better when you heat it up at home. So needless to say, Salt grass will never be a selection the me or my family will ever make again. I previously stated, I can get a better ribeye steak at Walmart for a lot less than I just paid. This ribeye was way below the SELECT grade of meat. Salt grass brags about CHOICE and PRIME but this steak was obviously absent when the meat grading was done.
