Ho aspettato a fare questa recensione perché confesso (anzi, ammetto...non è un peccato, non venale) di non conoscere la tradizione della famiglia Panella....e siccome sono stato coinvolto in una "sorpresa", mi sono quanto meno documentato andando a vedere la famosa trasmissione del famoso Francesco (oramai la seguo, mi permetto questa confidenza!). Io, il recensore top di Roma che non conosceva questo locale....sacrilegio!!!! E così un giorno dove mi ritrovo? Ospite di amici qui, in questo luogo che oramai come recita l'insegna ha sorpassato il secolo e quindi ne ha viste di cotte e di crude e ha imparato a servirne di cotti e di crudi, con sapienza e professionalità. Doveva essere un mangiare tra amici e invece si è trasformato in una specie di ansia da prestazione, col terrore di incontrare questo mitico chef o di non essere in grado di dare un giudizio corretto. "Alt!" mi sono detto...."sei qui per mangiare non per la giuria di Miss Italia...rilassati!". E diciamolo subito: il locale è bello e se non fosse per il fatto che è sempre affollato direi che è fatto proprio per stare rilessati e ben serviti. Già, il primo punto a favore è un servizio attento e impeccabile, non ingessato e neanche invadente, pronto, efficiente, garbato, simpatico. Poi la struttura, che è ricca di vissuto e offre molte soluzioni anche se alcune sembrano un po' sacrificate (ma trovare un posto qui in certi giorni pare sia come vincere al totocalcio). Le foto delle celebrità alle pareti raccontano la storia (e anche le mode) ma sono le stelle Michelin a dare il giusto contesto. E ovviamente poi la cucina, con un menù che offre la tradizione romana ma non solo e che ho trovato molto moderno, cosa che non guasta ma che mi fa ricordare di essere in un locale stellato e non in una trattoria di Trastevere. Alcune cose sembrano essere sfiziose ma la curiosità la esaurisco nell'antipasto (curioso il miniburger...o la mozzarella in crosta) ma poi i primi restano nell'ambito della romanità e la carbonara è un must (molto buona ma non la migliore mai mangiata). Curiosa la versione del tiramisù, quel che considero una nota dolente non è il livello dei prezzi (direi elevato, non alla portata di tutti) quanto il trovare non solo una tariffa per il coperto (non indifferente) ma anche per il pane (analoga) che considerati i prezzi decisamente non alla portata di tutti avrei preferito fossero assorbite aumentando un po' il resto. Non c'è la carta dei vini ma un vero e proprio tomo...e si capisce subito che questa è una delle loro eccellenze. Esperienza positiva? Si, la consiglio sicuramente ed è un posto che vi farà fare bella figura se ci porterete qualcuno importante per voi...ma aspettatevi un conto altrettanto importante, soprattutto se prendete uno dei vini che offrono dalla cantina (io sono astemio, questa è stata la fortuna dei miei ospiti, NdR). Però quello che ho trovato qui è quello che ho poi avuto la conferma guardando Francesco nelle sue gite fuoriporta....il senso dell'ospitalità, che qui ha sicuramente la sua casa. E poi la passione...c'è affiatamento dentro e si sente...sembra tutto filare alla perfezione, grazie a una macchina ben oleata e rodata. Ovviamente è quello che va cercando perché lo conosce bene, è un ingrediente fondamentale della loro cucina ed è giusto vedere se questa italianità è presente in chi vuole rappresentare la nostra cucina nel mondo. Ovviamente è doveroso prenotare ma potreste essere fortunati e provare senza: vi capiterà di vedere gente un po' diversa da quella che troverete negli altri locali della zona ma qui è una specie di isola felice ed è bene che rimanga tale. Se venite qui fatelo per come si mangia, non per chi ci va. Utili info? Allora lasciate un like e cercate le altre recensioni fatte su Roma e non solo.
Ottima e storica trattoria romana. Servizio molto professionale, cantina super fornita di vini ed ottimo cibo. Ci siamo stati per un evento aziendale e siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti. C’era anche il proprietario, Panella, simpaticissimo e super disponibile per i selfie di rito. I prezzi alti rispecchiano il taglio da trattoria con servizi più elevati rispetto alla più semplice trattoria romana. Ottimi i primi, assaggio di amatriciana e cacio e pepe, ma il maialino é stato il piatto della serata. Ottimi anche i cocktail
Come prima cena per la vigilia di Natale in un ristorante, e' stata un esperienza da non dimenticare. Cibo ottimo. Servizio e' disponibiltà da veri professionisti. Grazie a Francesco e al suo team. Un esperienza unica , tra tradizione e innovazione. Restando fedeli ai sapori dei piatti tipici romani. Da provare assolutamente. Francesco Panella padrone di casa gentilissimo e disponibile.
Ristorante molto conosciuto a Roma, grazie anche alla capacità attrattiva dei suoi proprietari, con particolare apprezzamento da parte della clientela internazionale. Ciononostante va riconosciuto il merito di aver saputo combinare la rilevanza internazionale con il gusto e l'atmosfera tipica romana, il tutto condito da una sensazione di eleganza smart casual. Sempre ottimamente apprezzati due cardini della cucina romana, rappresentati dalla gratificante Carbonara e dalla gustosa Amatriciana, seguite dalle particolarissime Costatelle di Agnello panate alla camomilla e da un prelibato Taglio pregiato di Maiale con scarola e salsa ai pinoli. Spettacolari I dolci. Nota di merito alla presenza in sala del conosciutissimo proprietario che per tutta la serata ha coordinato e curato l'andamento di tutto il servizio, finanche all'assicurarsi che la cena fosse stata di nostro gradimento. Esperienza da provare.

Prezzi medio alti ma giustificati dalla qualità e dalle proposte del menu . Carta dei vini ben fornita . Ristorante di altissimo livello, uno dei migliori su Roma, sapientemente governato dalla famiglia Panella che, ormai da più di 4 generazioni, porta avanti con fierezza la tradizione millenaria della cucina romanesca. Situata nel cuore di Roma, questa perla della ristorazione è fatta su misura per chi vuole trascorrere una serata da favola spendendo il giusto, in una delle più antiche e suggestive location di Trastevere. L'atmosfera elegante, le luci soffuse e l'attenzione del servizio rendono ogni visita all'Antica Pesa un'esperienza straordinaria e rinfrancante. D'inverno il calore e il crepitio del fuoco diffondono nella sala una serenità unica che rende speciale ogni convivio, mentre d'estate si può godere dell'esperienza del cortile all'aperto con piano bar, in cui capisci di trovarti in uno dei più suggestivi quartieri della Capitale. E' praticamente d'obbligo provare uno dei 3 primi romaneschi (cacio e pepe, carbonara o amatriciana) da scegliere a gusto personale perché è veramente impossibile stabilire quale sia il migliore. Appena si entra nel locale, la sala d'ingresso è tutta tappezzata di foto di Celebrità che hanno fatto visita al ristorante. Sono davvero tante e da ogni parte del Mondo. Quindi, occhio! Se andate all'Antica Pesa date uno sguardo al tavolo di fronte al vostro, potreste trovarvi in presenza di una Star di Hollywood! Un abbraccio a Francesco, Simone e a tutto lo staff... veramente fantastici
Cenare in un ristorante stellato non è solamente cibo ma un insieme di elementi che formano una miscela capace di rendere unica l'esperienza. Da Antica Pesa, si entra in punta di piedi nella storia di Roma, fatta di immagini, suoni, sapori. Location studiata nei minimi dettagli per stupire già appena si varca l'ingresso. Il tavolo a noi riservato era nella veranda esterna che con l'avanzare della sera assume un'atmosfera affascinante grazie all'illuminazione soffusa. Peccato per il clima non ancora estivo e che la rumorosità degli altri commensali non si potesse regolare... Il menù propone evoluzioni di classici piatti della tradizione ma contemporaneamente non si perde in elucubrazioni sui primi piatti, proposti nella loro unica forma classica ammissibile: la mia cacio e pepe era decisamente buona. Materie prime di alta qualità, preparazioni sapienti e servizio attento e cortese permettono di trascorrere un'esperienza unica e rilassante. Conto adeguato e proporzionato tenendo a mente tutti gli elementi coinvolti. Note gradevoli. Il cameriere che ci ha seguito, mi ha offerto un secondo giro di whisky in attesa del conto. La disponibilità e cortesia di Francesco Panella nello scambiare due chiacchiere con noi a fine serata. Per gli amanti del buon gusto a 360°, cenare almeno una volta da Antica Pesa è d'obbligo.
La nostra esperienza all’Antica Pesa è stata eccezionale, fin dall’ingresso. Appena arrivati, siamo stati accolti in modo caloroso e fatti accomodare con grande cortesia. L’atmosfera è resa ancora più speciale dalle foto alle pareti, che ritraggono star e celebrità che hanno scelto questo ristorante, aggiungendo un tocco di prestigio al locale. Abbiamo cenato in una splendida corte esterna, dove l’attenzione al dettaglio e alla cura del servizio è stata impeccabile. Per iniziare, abbiamo scelto due antipasti: una deliziosa combinazione di bufala e crudo e un piccolo hamburger, entrambi ottimi. Per i primi, non possiamo che consigliare la carbonara: un piatto iconico e preparato alla perfezione, con un gusto autentico che ci ha conquistati. Abbiamo concluso con un tiramisù davvero sublime, il perfetto finale per una cena memorabile. A rendere la serata ancora più speciale è stata l’opportunità di incontrare Francesco Panella, una persona straordinariamente in gamba e gentile, che ci ha fatto sentire ancora più benvenuti. Un’esperienza da provare assolutamente, per la qualità del cibo, l’attenzione al cliente e l’atmosfera unica. Torneremo sicuramente!
In zona Trastevere questo bel locale ben arredato e accogliente. Traspare subito il buon gusto dei tuoi proprietari intuibile dalle opere d’arte esposte nelle bat lire sale. L’arte moderna fa da cornice a tutto il locale. Il personale è gentile e disponibile. Un menù ricco ed innovativo. Le pietanze sono ben preparate e ben impiantate. È rispettata la cucina romana ma con innovazioni. Abbiamo mangiato bene. La carta dei vini è ricca e varia. Ottimi anche i dolci. I prezzi medio alti. Ci hanno anche fatto degustare un ottimo olio nuovo.
Il ristorante ci ha attirato per il suo portabandiera Francesco Panella. Posto molto bello. Il servizio è stato impeccabile, il cameriere ha fatto con noi una piacevole chiacchierata sui calici di vino diversi e consigliati a seconda del vino, oltre a consigliarci quale scegliere. Buonissimo il cibo e ovviamente molto belli i piatti.Eccellente la carta dei vini. Esperienza perfetta.
Posto incantevole, cibo superlativo. Non è un semplice pranzo o una semplice cena ma è una vera e propria esperienza gastronomica. Personale accogliente e qualificato. Sono rimasto estasiato. Ritornerò sicuramente. Bravi tutti, dagli chef a chi lavora alla reception, ai camerieri e a chi si occupa di mantenere il locale sempre in ordine e soprattutto pulito.

Great food, amazing wine selection for any budget. I’ll say the atmosphere is 4/5 just because of the playlist with popular covers. Makes your ears bleed. Other than that it’s a place you don’t want to miss when in Rome.
We visited this restaurant about a week before Christmas, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere cozy and welcoming, and the service truly phenomenal. We felt genuinely cared for throughout the evening, which made the experience even more special. A place we will happily return to when we get the chance, and that we warmly recommend.

I travel frequently and have had the privilege of dining in some of the most renowned restaurants in the world—from New York and Miami to Malibu, Paris, London, and Vienna. I can state without hesitation: Antica Pesa surpassed them all. The experience begins with a fascinating dichotomy: the unassuming entrance, which resembles a typical Roman canteen, hides a dining room full of history, where photos of legends like Al Pacino and Tarantino adorn the walls. But the true 'luxury' here isn't in the photos, but in the soul of the place. The Service: We were served by Roberto and Sabrina, and they redefined the concept of hospitality for me. It wasn't just technical service; it was human, warm, and incredibly attentive. They made us feel truly at home, with that genuine joy that is often missing in the 'starred' restaurants of Northern Europe. Roberto and Sabrina, you were the highlight of this evening. The Food (A Meal for the Gods): The cuisine is simply impeccable. Starter: We ordered the Duck, which was divine—a perfect introduction to what was coming. Primo Piatto: The Carbonara. I’ve had many, but this one achieved absolute perfection. Creamy in just the right measure, with crispy and flavorful guanciale. A masterpiece. Secondo Piatto: We finished with the Lamb and the Guinea Fowl (Faraona). Deep flavors, precise technical execution, and ingredients that speak for themselves. Antica Pesa is proof that true gastronomy doesn't need exaggerated gimmicks, just excellence, tradition, and above all, heart. If you are in Rome, this is a mandatory stop. Thank you to the entire team for a memorable night!
Antica Pesa was a really lovely experience. The service was warm and attentive, the bread was honestly incredible, and the outdoor seating felt super romantic. It is on the pricier side, so just go in knowing that — we had meals elsewhere in Rome that were just as good food-wise for less. That said, if you’re in the mood for a little splurge, it’s a beautiful spot and we had a great night.

I had dinner at Antica Pesa two days ago, and it was the best dining experience I’ve had in Rome. The food was excellent! Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. But what truly stood out was the service: it was beyond perfect. I haven’t experienced such attentive, professional, and genuinely warm service in a very long time. The staff is extremely friendly and well-trained, which made the whole evening unforgettable. Bravo to the entire team!

Best meal I had in Rome. Prices felt cheap compared to a similar meal outside of Italy and more than fair in comparison to typical dining prices in Rome. Had a full three course meal and two cocktails for €100. Highly recommend the duck which came with mustard ice cream that was a surprise at first but couldn’t get enough of it. Recommend the four tomato cold antipasti as well. Pasta was typically al dente and I’m still thinking about the pork. Check out the movie posters on the wall near the kitchen door, neat touch showcasing some of their celebrity diners.
Absolutely exceptional cuisine. We secured our reservations over a month in advance, and upon arrival, we witnessed several unreserved patrons being politely turned away. We commenced our dining experience with a remarkable bottle of Monte Falco Sagrantino—an extensive wine selection that rivals the size of a Bible. This was followed by the exquisite Sottobosco—a creamy mushroom concoction paired with delicate parsley sponge, accompanied by tender carrot chips and grilled octopus paired with chickpea hummus and turnip greens. The flavors were both unique and vibrant. For our main course, we opted for the tortellini filled with fresh pumpkin, cacio e pepe, and the beef carpaccio. Notably, the menu appears to change seasonally, as the dishes we enjoyed were not available on the online listing. The quality was outstanding. The accompanying bread and olive oil were impeccable, and the service was attentive to every request. To conclude our meal, we indulged in the Alava Club—a chocolate cigar garnished with coconut panna cotta and a rum sauce, presented with Michelin-star quality. As the evening progressed, the rooftop opened to reveal a stunning night sky. I recommend arriving a bit early to admire the celebrity portraits adorning the walls and to peer into the cellar through the glass-bottomed viewing area.
As always this restaurant never disappoints! It's an amazing experience. Highly recommend checking it out. We ate here on August 13th and the kids are still talking about it. From start to finish it was spectacular. Started off with the duck breast with mustard ice cream and fig. Sounds strange but it's phenomenal! Then the octopus over a potato puree, the millefoglie mozzarella and prosciutto Is Always a must ! For entrees we had the lamb chops , amatriciana (shared for the kids) and my wife had the seafood lasagna. Everything was perfect. Can't wait to come back .
Travelled to Italy from New York and the restaurant was recommended by the Chief Officer of the company I work for. The service was incredible and the food was even better. Ate here with family on our first night in Italy and it set the standard high for every restaurant we went to after and they just could not match up. Look forward to visiting the Brooklyn location. An incredible surprise, almost hidden away. The illustrious tradition of this restaurant does not take anything back from a great culinary offer where passion for food and wines is palpable. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed but glamourous at the same time. Staff are extremely courteous and competent.
Great meal and great service. We took our parents here for our final dinner in Rome, and it was a beautiful capstone to the trip! The dishes were delicious and creative, the setting was intimate, but not stuffy, and everyone was welcoming and warm! My mom made an offhand comment that she loved the cookies they provided at the end, and without hesitation, the waiter made a second portion magically appear! As we were leaving, the owner, Francesco, came over and personally thanks us for visiting and asked how our experience was. They really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Can't wait to visit their Brooklyn location!
This is a very intimate setting. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. I really was impressed how the bar tender really made sure everything was satisfactory. The food was very creative and balanced. We enjoyed the duck appetizer and two pasta dishes before sharing the pork. I would definitely recommend this place for a date night.

Il cibo ottimo, materia prima Top. Abbiamo mangiato una cacio e pepe e una amatriciana buonissime. Il dolce era equilibrato, con le amarene all'amaretto buonissime. Quello che mi ha lasciato perplessa è stato l'arrivo. Siamo arrivate puntualissime, ma ci hanno lasciato 15 minuti in piedi ad aspettare che si liberasse il tavolo( prenotato 1 mese prima) senza offrire nulla da bere.
Sin dall’ingresso si capisce il livello altissimo del locale, nel cuore di Trastevere con uno stile molto particolare. Abbiamo trovato un’accoglienza perfetta e soprattutto molto elegante uniti ad una cena nel complesso ottima, da migliorare gli antipasti a nostro avviso, unica pecca, la sala veranda, un po’ troppo fredda, questo diciamo che lascia abbastanza a desiderare dato che va a rovinare l’atmosfera che il locale crea sin dal l’ingresso con un maestoso camino.
Sono stato in questo locale per una cena con gli amici, l’accoglienza è stata impeccabile. L’atmosfera è curata e il personale gentile. I primi piatti rispecchiano in pieno la tradizione romana (soprattutto la cacio e pepe e l' amatriciana) ma la vera sorpresa arriva alla fine del pasto. Se venite qui, dovete assolutamente tenere un posto per il dolce! Ne abbiamo provati diversi ma tra tutti il tiramisù e il pan brioche ci hanno conquistati. Esperienza da ripetere!!!

Il servizio da rivedere, ad un tavolo a fianco hanno dato un prosecco o champagne di benvenuto e a noi no. Il proprietario inoltre si é fermato molto tempo ad alcuni tavoli mentre ad altri tra cui il nostro non è passato neanche per un saluto, credo sia poco carino.
Locale pieno di fascino in trastevere ottimo servizio ma piatti troppo snaturati e purtroppo non perfetti in particolare visti i prezzi

Storico ristorante a Trastevere. Le foto alle pareti testimoniano che da qui sono passati attori, cantanti, gente di spettacolo e campioni dello sport: un luogo iconico della Roma che conta. I tavoli, però, sono un po' troppo vicini. La cucina è pretenziosa, ma dai Panella io voglio di più, molto di più. Ottimi i due antipasti che abbiamo scelto (petto d'anatra fumé e insalata di puntarelle bottarga e lamponi), ma i primi ci hanno deluso (lasagnetta di cacio e pere abbastanza anonima, e carbonara salatissima), e le costolette d'agnello erano troppo secche. A questi prezzi si dovrebbe offrire qualcosa di meglio
After reading reviews I had high expectations for this place. Upon arriving at the location we saw lots of photos of celebrities that had dined there. Avevamo grandi aspettative su questo ristorante e purtroppo sono costretta a dire che sono state disattese. La location è indubbiamente molto bella ma il resto, in proporzione al nome e alla fama del locale, purtroppo ci ha ampiamente delusi. Lo staff, sulla cui gentilezza non ho nulla da dire, sembra essere completamente scoordinato e poco informato sui vini, l'olio e sulle materie prime che compongono i piatti (un cameriere ha sporcato la tovaglia servendo il vino e non ha provveduto a rimediare). La lista dei vini è indubbiamente molto ampia ma c'è una grande sproporzione tra vini ancora dai prezzi "abbordabili" e vini che raggiungono costi a tre, quattro cifre la bottiglia. La cacio e pepe è arrivata quasi fredda, il filetto di spigola diviso in due parti (il filetto normalmente non è uno?) e il carciofo confit non era nulla di più che un carciofo bollito su un piccolo crumble. Forse le nostre aspettative erano troppo alte considerate le ottime recensioni, ma per quello che abbiamo mangiato e per il servizio ricevuto, il rapporto qualità prezzo è risultato essere non adeguato. Un vero peccato.

This is possibly the worst dining experience that I've ever had at a high-end restaurant. My partner and I were visiting Rome and we went to Antica Pesa for New Years Eve. The price was over 200 EU per person. (This is double the normal price, but it was NYE, so we splurged.) (We're from the U.S.) In general, the service at restaurants in Rome is a little different than the U.S. Servers are a little less attentive than the US, but give you more time to sit, relax, etc. With that said .. the service here was absolutely horrific and completely killed the vibe for us. During desserts, the wait staff attempted to take my dessert on 3 different occasions within a 5 minute period. I'm also a pretty fast eater. It wasn't as if we were lingering with the desserts for hours. On the last occasion, a bus boy tried to take my dessert away from me while I had my fork in my hand. I literally had to yell at the staff so they'd let me finish. It was absolutely surreal. They also played music starting around 11:50 or so. Multiple times, they'd start a song, then switch to another song seconds later. They constantly changed the level of the volume from way too low to super loud. It was hilariously incompetent. The food was solid, but only a few dishes were particularly excellent. The sea bream was great. The carbonara was pretty solid but not unique. During our trip to Rome, we visited 4-5 other restaurants for dinner that were about a fraction of the price but 5x better food.
I visited Antica Pesa with my family in 2023 after researching it and feeling excited to finally try this historic spot. Unfortunately, the reality didn’t live up to the reputation. SERVICE: A major disappointment. While the staff were polite enough, there was no warmth or genuineness, just a detached, “going through the motions” attitude. It felt like they were serving us out of obligation rather than hospitality. Other diners have noted the same, describing the service as indifferent and lacking charm. FOOD: This was the biggest letdown. Portions were shockingly small, and nothing we ordered left us wanting more. The flavors were flat, and dishes that should have been Roman classics felt heavy or poorly executed. I later read reviews echoing this, complaints about a carbonara with a burnt bacon aftertaste, overpriced basics like ham and mozzarella at €22, and boiled cod at €34. For the price point, the quality simply wasn’t there. AMBIENCE: The outdoor seating area is pleasant, with nice lighting and a cozy garden feel. But when the service and food fall short, the ambience can’t save the experience. By the end of the meal, we just wanted to leave. Overall: Antica Pesa may have history and a reputation, but our visit was underwhelming. Between the indifferent service, overpriced and uninspired food, and the mismatch between ambience and experience, I wouldn’t recommend it for those seeking authentic Roman hospitality.
