Zoe and Joe have curated an incredibly cozy, nostalgic, and one of a kind dining experience. Nestled in the quaint and quirky town of Rosendale, NY, these 2 made it feel like we were near and dear friends, sitting in their dining room enjoying not only family recipes but also fresh takes on classic Hungarian and Polish dishes. Zoe’s knowledge and passion for wine, and Joe’s recipes are the perfect marriage. To say we enjoyed it, would be the understatement of the year. Our dining experience was THE story we will share for many more years to come. This type of hospitality is the type we’ll never forget.
Such a fabulous find! The owners helped us feel so welcome, like being at home; fun antiques and a British pub feel with very delicious and unique food that surprises you - unassuming yet over the top delicious and gourmet- ish! Excellent wine knowledge, Zoe even paired the perfect dessert wine with our brownie… we left satiated and delighted.
Well Nice Wine Bar is an absolute gem with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, made even better by the lovely people who run it. I was pleasantly surprised by the spotless cleanliness and their top-tier draft and craft beer selections, which rival some of the best I’ve tried. The wine list is curated with care, but it’s the balance of quality and hospitality that makes the place shine. A perfect spot for couples looking to enjoy a relaxed, high-quality evening together.
A must visit in the Hudson Valley. Cozy and welcoming space hosted by the charming, knowledgeable and talented Zoe and Joe. The wine list is curated with such love and care, and the menu is warming and imaginative. I always encounter something new and tasty here. Don’t sleep on the kedgeree! One of my all time favorite places to visit!
Absolutely wonderful, from top to bottom. The food is delicious -- I could eat about a thousand of those croquettes and the cabbage caesar, sammies, and kedgeree were also standouts. The wine list is thoughtful and exciting -- a really nice balance of familiar and new -- and we were expertly guided by Zoe, the owner and somm. And it's just a lovely experience through and through -- warm, caring service from Zoe and her husband Joe (the chef) in a beautiful, nostalgic space. The gorgeous wood bar itself is original to the building and over 120 years old!! Well Nice is a very welcome addition to the area.
An absolute gem of a spot for amazing wine, creative dishes, and outstanding service. The owners are the loveliest people who take time to get to know you and talk with you, then guide you through a culinary adventure. Could not recommend highly enough.
I’m so glad to have Well Nice in the area! The space is so charming and cozy, and the food is incredible. The grilled cabbage Caesar is my new obsession! I’m pregnant so couldn’t drink the wine, and I appreciated that they have a thoughtful non-alcoholic beverage list so I wasn’t left out. My husband loved the wine the owner, Zoe, picked for him and the list looked amazing so I’ll definitely be back when I can partake!
Had dinner here during the soft open and was blown away. The atmosphere is really warm and nostalgic feeling, the food delicious (I got the chicken pot pie which was sublime), and most impressive to me was the wine selection from all over the world (I had a fantastic orange). There’s a bar if you just want to grab drinks and soak in the atmosphere — or check out the photo wall — or tables for a full meal. I’ll come back when I’m in the area again! …Plus they get bonus points for the super cute table setting! I was comparing plates with my friends and I think mine was the cutest 😎 Edited to add: not sure why food, service and atmosphere aer showing up as 0/5 in my review because I put everything at 5/5!
This is obviously a passion project done well. The people running it know what they’re talking about and care about the quality of what they’re serving. There are zero cut corners on this gem of the Hudson Valley. And I’m not just saying that because I’m drunk.

Zoë guided us to an exceptional bottle of orange that our whole party loved! Their wine selection was beautifully curated and considered. We also enjoyed some delicious bites. Vibes were all on point. Highly recommend! We’ll definitely be coming back here again!!
I love love love Well Nice Wine Bar. Zoe knocks it out of the park every single time as a sommelier-- do not hesitate to ask her all your wine questions and taste several options -- and Joe's wizardry as a chef is consistently delicious, original, and nourishing. Try the Chef's Whim -- I finally did! -- every dish a surprise and superb. The atmosphere they create is perfect for Rosendale / Hudson Valley. I live 2 towns over but come as often as I can. We're so lucky to have them.
Whether you know a ton about wine or you are curious and new to it, Zoë and Joe have an incredible selection, collaborative energy, and friendly spirit that make everyone feel welcome and ensure a delicious time for all! Can’t recommend Well Nice Wine Bar enough!
Well Nice is an incredible addition to Rosendale. The wine selection is perfection, and the food is unreal. Not to mention the owners are a delight!
This is my new favorite spot. Zoe has a fun collection of fantastic wines and makes sure each wine she serves you is the wine you want to drink. Joe is a master in the kitchen and food is fantastic. Love the vibe. It's the best to sit at the bar. But, be warned, the trivia is hard. Fun. Amazing. But hard and reservations are required for trivia!
Wow! Zoe and Joe were the best hosts ever! My friends and I were from out of town and we thought it would be a good idea to check this place out and boy did we luck out! The food was Hungarian-inspired and absolutely delicious! Homemade! Grandmother‘s kitchen-esque! So good! And the wine knowledge! Zoe was incredibly insightful. 10000000 out of 10.
Zoe's delightful wine list and Joe's cozy-as-can-be food; Rosendale is blessed! Whether you're sitting at the bar solo or dining with friends, it's always a nice time. Arrive with an open mind! Lean into their expertise and order something new.
The best! The space is beautiful. Comfy and cozy with a back bar that seems it's original to the space. The vintage wood in the space, combined with the cute vintage plates, vintage cutlery and REAL cloth napkins, the kind your nana had with cute little prints on them, just add to the vibe. You feel at home the second you walk in. If it doesn't remind you of a home you know, it's a home you want to be in. The food: Fantastic! The kind of comfort food recipes that make you feel like you're at someone's house who has a grandma with secret recipes with all the deliciousness and technique that makes you know you're not likely to be able to recreate it in your own kitchen, even if you try. It's like a hug, on a plate. The portions are appropriate and I left well satiated after my two dishes. I would have gotten more, but I was already full. Will have to go back to try everything (including the rotating selection of pierogi specials). The wine list is beautiful. Something for everyone at such affordable prices! And Zoe, one of the owners, is great with recommendations. Definitely seek out her expertise if you're looking to try something new. Her husband Joe, who helms the kitchen, clearly cooks everything with love and care. I lamented when Rosendale lost the Rosendale Cafe, as I had been a fan for many years, but this is just across the street and such a welcome addition to Rosendale. While I was only in town for a short trip, I would definitely make the drive from Brooklyn again, if only for the pot pie! If you're on the fence, go check it out! I sat at the bar alone and felt super welcome, but they have cute tables as well that would be perfect for a date. (And a cute cozy table in the corner with a little sofa that I definitely want to try next time).
WARNING: You may think this place is good. It's not. It's GREAT! I came in blind and honestly wasn't just pleasantly surprised, but spoiled by Zoe and Joe's hospitality. We had the tasting menu and it was a magical eclectic experience which made me feel like I was sick and getting pampered with warm cozy food. Perfect date spot. Summer or winter, this place shines!
My partner and I just moved to the area and happened to stumble into Well Nice Wine Bar the other night. We immediately got such a warm and welcoming vibe from both Zoe and Joe behind the bar. The wine was incredibly good and we had a lovely time chatting with Zoe! Thank you both so much for a lovely night and we can’t wait to come back.

Excellent service, food, wine, and ambiance! My only feedback is the uptempo dance pop music was a little loud and distracting - I expected a mellower, more romantic soundtrack, especially for a quiet date night in an intimate space - but otherwise a fantastic experience. Get the chicken paprikash!

Fantastic experience! Was so pleased to see the wide selection of Hungarian wines and small but mighty food menu. Got to sample several plates and they were all beautifully seasoned, imaginative, and (coming from Central/Eastern European backgrounds) felt like an upscale version of ultimate comfort. Ambience was charming too. Can’t wait to go back!

Everything we ate was delicious, especially the pierogis, carrot fritters and picked vegetables! I told Zoe my preferences regarding wine and she picked out a few different options that perfectly fit what I enjoy and was looking for. I can’t wait to go back. An excellent addition to the Hudson valley food and wine scene.
Perhaps it was the “special menu” for the Rosendale Street Fair, but $23 for a cheese plate that had 1 type of cheese, a soggy Caesar on the side & dry biscuits was not worthwhile. Wine was good, no air conditioning inside the establishment tho 90 outside. It was cooler outside. All around didn’t get the love for this place which looked promising.
