Reservations recommended but they accommodated our group of 4. They have an outside area and a smaller inner seating area. The service was fast. We had our appetizer very quickly. Drinks and refills were also fast. Our meals took nearly 40 minutes but everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The pulled pork was highly rated as were the onion rings and the burger. The clam fry was good. The eggplant Parm looked fantastic but it was a bit on the soft side for my taste. Some of the specials and dessy sounded really good. I would definitely return and try some other options. Prices were reasonable for the portion sizes.

Tried The River Road House today on a whim. Definitely recommend!!! Food was very good. The waitress was great, very informative. Atmosphere might not be for everyone, but it's a typical bar atmosphere. I ordered the Philly Cheese steak and it was very delicious. My wife ordered the Reuben and was equally delicious. We split both and we're both very satisfied. I'd lean Philly over the Reuben but you won't be disappointed with either. If you're considering it, DO IT.

This was a phenomenal restaurant located in Schenectady a little out of the way but definitely a place to try when you have a chance to. The atmosphere and the food was incredible to say the least and the friendly wait staff added to that. Everything was cooked to order and did not disappoint. We ordered the lemon pepper boneless wings as an appetizer. You could taste the fresh lemon and grated pepper in the sauce it competes with the top wing spots in Schenectady. I ended up getting just a simple black and blue burger which was cooked to medium rare perfectly. My fiance got a steak sandwich which was sliced New York strip with a homemade cheese sauce served with homemade chips. You could really tell that they cared about the food that they were making in the kitchen. Since this review I have gone back twice and have recommended it a bunch of times to family and friends.

Your average pub. The bar was busy and waitress/bartender did a great job. Food was pub food and good. Will come again.

We came here for the first time. Something different than our normal. Place was clean. Waitress was friendly. Wait time was a little bit much for how slow it was. The food was hot and delicious when it came out. The fried pickles I highly recommend. They use real pickles and they are not soggie like other places. Onion weren't greasy. I would highly recommend the burgers and pulled pork. The roadhouse burger had fried onion, bacon and blue cheese crumbles on it. It was really good. Recommend going if you haven't tried it. We will be back. Just plan to be there for an hour-hour in a half.

Had a great dinner at River Road House with a few lovely ladies from the Dine & Dish 518 ladies only social group This was my first time coming here. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive. What was ordered: Appetizers - chicken ,bacon, ranch egg roll. served With cranberry aïoli. & Coconut shrimp My dinner order was fish & chips My eggroll was really good. Like really, really good. I likeed the cranberry aïoli. it was perfectly balanced between lightly sweet and savory. The fish and chips were also good. I’m not the biggest french fry person. But their fries were great. Something was a little off with the oil tho . Maybe the temperature too high ? Or old oil? Anything that was got that was fried had a darker color to it. it was still flavorful. And would have definitely been a lot better if the oil was different.

We had the cheesesteak and bacon burger. Both were very good! Came in on a Saturday night so it’s understandable that service would be a little slower than usual, but we spent a large chunk of time just sitting there before we ordered and a decent amount of time sitting there after we ate, waiting for the check, so that knocks one star off… but overall, I’d come back!

Was recommended to try this place again... It is not what it used to be... A more settled environment with a great cooking staff putting out delish food. Hostess was very pleasant and helpful. Definitely a place worth trying if you like great eats!

Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter at SNDTravels. Small place with good food and friendly service. Started out with duck wings that were in a BBQ type sauce both mildly spicy and sweet. Diane loves her duck wings. Diane then had the haddock special with a light cornmeal batter and roasted tomatoes and garlic. Really unique combination but it worked well. I had the haddock blackened over alfredo sauce and mixed veggies. Very good. They added some citrus to the alfredo and it actually works with the fish. Diane then had the pumpkin creme brulee and I had a maple pecan cheesecake. Everything was good and we will keep it in mind the next time we sre in the area. Two thumbs up. Recommended!👍👍😎

The staff was friendly, the bar was smokey, and the food was overcooked. An unfortunate set of circumstances lead to me coming here, when my initial pick for dinner was closed. Luckily I had wanted to try the River Road House for a few weeks now, so now's a good of time as any I thought. I called in a few hours ahead of time and put in an order of Garlic Parm Wings, BBQ Wings, Truffle Fries, and a Small Salad. I really wanted wings that night, so I was really looking forward to this especially given it's my one day I get to eat whatever I want. All in total I spent roughly $42, a little steep for bar food but maybe the quality would surprise me? Well I was surprised, but not in a good way. The wings, which I was shorted on as the BBQ wings only included 7 pieces and not 10, were very over-fried. They were closer to big croutons, with a crispy chicken center. The truffle fries got the same treatment, being the most crunchy french fries I have had in recent memory, and after eating a dozen the flavor just became burnt. The only passible dish was the salad and even that was disappointing, as the leaves were wilted under the top layer which I failed to notice until after I dug around in it. Now I'm a take-out kind of guy, so my meal was a flop, but I do want to say that the staff I did deal with were friendly and nice. The bar inside has a very local feel to it, almost empty when I stopped in around 4PM to pick up my order, but I bet it fills up later at night. There was also an exterior dinning area, which is interesting, though the season for using that is coming to a close.

This was our first visit to the River Road House. The service from the waitstaff was great, greeted us when we came in the door and got us seated right away. Drink and food orders were also taken quickly. Drinks came to the table right away. We also liked that the waitstaff was aware that we had a child with us and did not put food or drink items directly in front of him, now that’s some great attention to detail. The food however took forever and was not as expected. We ordered 2 fish and chips, one Cesar salad, one Reuben sandwich, the Junction Fries and a kids chicken tenders. The food took forever. We waited over 40 minutes from the time we sat down to food hitting the table. The restaurant was not busy at all, maybe 3-4 tables occupied. The fish and chips stated on the menu that it came with homemade chips but they were 100% from a bag, and one of the fish was cold. The coleslaw had also turned and had a rancid taste to it. The Junction fries that had the proper toppings were very good but much of the plate was bare. The Cesar salad was fine as was the Reuben though it was a bit cold. Overall not a great experience, felt like whoever was cooking back in that kitchen had really given up.

My fiancé, 6 year old daughter and I stopped here when we were in town for dinner on a Saturday. It was the worst dining experience I've ever had. We were seated quickly and brought drinks in a relatively reasonable time. We ordered our appetizer and meals. Our appetizer (mozzarella sticks) came out a short time later. Then we waited. We waited and waited. No one in the restaurant was getting their food. After about an hour they came around and said they were "backed up in the kitchen" and offered us a small dish of tortilla chips to "tide us over". Another thirty minutes went by and they said they'd "put a rush on" my daughter's meal. She had ordered a hot dog. The table next to us got up and left. An hour and forty-five minutes after we arrived, they served my daughter's hot dog. It was burnt to a crisp and she refused to eat it. I wouldn't have eaten it either. I peeled off as much as I could to make it edible and she ate some of it. Her fries were old and cold. A large table that had been seated before we arrived finally got their food and the tables next to them clapped and cheered in celebration. Two hours after we got there, my fiancé and I decided enough was enough and told them to cancel our order (a cheeseburger and a philly cheesesteak sandwich) because we were leaving. The only slightly redeeming factor was they didn't make us pay for our drinks. I paid for the burnt hot dog and cold fries, left a tip (it wasn't our server's fault), and we left without dinner. Save yourself the time and go almost anywhere else for better service and better food.
