I left the state and returned. During my time away, I learned this establishment had closed. I was so happy to return to the state and be there for the reopening. Slicks Tavern has the best beer selection and food service in the area; the best!!!!!!

Had to pay a visit to Slicks before they officially close their doors next week. I ordered a roast beef on rye and it was enormous! Like 4 inches tall enormous! Not to mention it was the freshest roast beef I've ever had! Well worth the $15! I was able to split it with my girl and we were both full! I wish I had visited them more often and I'm definitely sad to see them go! Do yourself a favor and stop by before they officially close down next week!

I sat down and had a corned beef sandwich in front of me in 3 minutes after ordering. Granted I was there around noon on a friday. Very glad I stopped in for a quick bite.

Well, although we waited over an hour for our order to be taken, and we ended up leaving due to time constraints, I can't wait to go back! The line is out the door. Everyone waited patiently to get one of the 6 items on the menu. The place is solely staffed by an elderly man and woman. I felt so bad about leaving, and she did, too. We hugged! The place is so tiny, they have about 2 square feet to make these amazing sandwiches. I shall return!

Low key, old school bar with huge, and I mean HUGE, sandwiches. No lame fryer bar food you can get anywhere. Great spot for casual lunch; come hungry and still leave with some sandwich for later. I'm not a regular but have been going there on occasion for 37 years. Nothing changes, which is a good thing. The owners provide friendly, professional service.

Amazing sandwiches, and the drink prices were super reasonable. They had an unexpectedly diverse selection of whiskey compared to other bar/restaurants in the area. Cozy, retro atmosphere and Mike was super nice to my husband and I. Today was our first visit, and it definitely won't be our last!

my son and I went with our next door neighbors. They cannot cook there, so they cut every sandwich to order on the slicer nice and thin so it takes time to get your sandwich when 4 of you order at once, but the selection of beers will keep anyone happy until the thick juicy sandwich arrives. Oh, and there is always local color and flavor at the bar to make any dining experience unforgettable in a humorous way.

Great sandwiches no skimping on the meat

Mike and Barbara have done things consistently at Slick's over the years. The sandwiches are generous, usually requiring a bag to take home for a second meal, and it is a very comfortable place to have a relaxing lunch.

The sandwiches are huge and of great quality. Where some places give you a little.of something good or a lot of something bad, Mike over at Slicks gives you a lot of something very good. I just LOVE Slick's My sandwich was as high as a Coke can. The place is real cute. old but cute. Mike the owner, gave me a green carnation, as we went today, and it is St Patrick's Day. I really couldn't even finish 1/2. I brought 1/2 home, and I bet I could make 3 sandwiches out of the meat, It's not a fancy place but it is cozy. if you are a beer drinker he has so very many different kinds. You really won't be sorry if it is a sandwich that you are looking for.

Came here on a Thursday night. Just me and a couple regulars. Wound up staying a couple hours while enjoying conversation with other patrons and the owner Mike, who is a true gentleman. Didn't have a sandwich, but they look great. Not a huge bottle selection, but what they have is good. Glad I stopped in and will be back in the future to try out one of those sandwiches.

It's been a while since I have been here, and i remember the prices were a little lower, but with the economy the way it is its understandable. Sandwich was awesome enough for 2 meals!

I found this amazing bar/restaurant on a work trip and I can’t wait to go back! The staff was so fun and friendly, I felt like I was hanging with old friends. They really took care of me and my turkey sandwich was INCREDIBLE!! The bread was so fresh and the homemade chips were amazing! 10 out of 10 stars!!!

The place was clean and well illuminated, while the staff was friendly and efficient. I got exactly what I asked for. The turkey on white bread sandwich. The horseradish mayo sauce was just right. Not to aggressive or bland. It was so good I finished it all. The potato salad was good too. I will be going back for more and try a different combination next time.

One the best sandwich shops ever is back at it! New owners, a slick coat of paint and the same giant stack of meat. The gates of heaven are back open for me. I was shocked to see them open at 730pm on a Tuesday. They have the bar open, liquor, beers and a great menu.

Cheers to Slicks making their 2.0 debut. Clean, Fresh, Friendly, Genuine and Refreshing kick off. Nice selection of beer, wine, and spirits. Gold stars for the vermouth being refrigerated!! And no neon red trash maraschino cherries here! nostalgic sandwiches and new classics making their way on to the menu. Muffaletta was done well with the proper meats, cheeses, and olive spread. Could use a splash of acid to balance the fatty cold cuts. Potato salad, better than most. Looking forward to many return visits to explore the menu as it evolves and the bar expands.

Local Hidden gem small business. Old historic bar and restaurant in the stockade district. Their sandwiches are known around the area as some of the best. Huge, generous portions of sliced in-house deli meats that easily top 1lb per sandwich. House made macaroni and potato salads are on point as well. Drinks are reasonably priced and there is a cozy, inviting atmosphere. I am now officially hooked and this is my new local sandwich spot to take friends and family.

I visited Slicks for the first time a few days ago. A small place with a limited menu, but my sandwich was very good! I'll be a return customer my next time in Schenectady.

Fun bar and sandwich place. Sandwiches are a big lump of meat they shave right in front of you. Took a little for staff to warm up to us, but was a good experience overall.

If you want the biggest turkey sandwich of your life come here prepared to eat. I measured the meat at almost 3 inches thick. The plate also came with macaroni or potatoe salad and chips. Not too much seating so come outside lunch hours, for me it was 2:30 pm.

The overall service was great and friendly. Food was great plenty of seating by the bar not much seating in the small little area. I was with two other friends of mine we got done eating and they more or less pushed us out. What restaurant does that there was other seating against the wall that they could’ve put together two tables to accumulate some people. I felt like it was rushed, and I understand people like to sit at tables as I am one of them but come on when you’re paying customer you should have enough time to eat and talk and hang out for a little while. Am I ever gonna come back maybe not

No soner did we (3 of us) finish eating they hurried us up to pay the bill and said he had to leave so they could seat other customers I know the place is small but we were not even able to relax for a few minutes. ( Eat pay your bill then get out ) The roast beef sandwich that I had was very bland tasting. It used to be an awesome place.

I heard about this place all week because last time I flew out early and missed the brunch trip. Let’s just say it did not live up to the hype. We waited 45 minutes for our food. When we asked about it, our server nonchalantly said he’d check on it, without apology and as though the thought never occurred to him. My huevos rancheros was fine, nothing to write home about. One in our party got a lukewarm burrito. And someone else was served the wrong dish. It did look like it had a nice patio, though.

Walked in and walked right out. The waitress was extremely rude and acted like us being there was a burden. Will never go again.

Drove to this place from Albany after seeing advertisement about their hype on sandwiches. The website stated open till 9pm. upon my arrival i noticed sign on front door ""CLOSED FOR VACATION " It's extremely irresponsible to not update on website hours of operations. will not ever think to visit again

Stockade local, I’ve been here a hand full of time in the past couple months. Today I walked in and Barb was completely rude to me. I walk in, she glares at me as I say hello, she goes to do something then rudely asks ‘what do want’, I say I’d like to order a sandwich to go, no response just glaring. So I quickly decide I am not giving this place my money, I tell her never mind you didnt need to be so rude to me. She says ‘oh don’t start with me lady’ so I’ll assume she’s having a bad day, but don’t take it out on other customers. Simply rude. Never had this experience going there but was never a pleasant one either. It’s a great spot, give it up to someone that’s wayyyy friendlier

Walked in 30 minutes after opening only to be met with an “oh christ, what?” from a woman that I assume is the owner and who didn’t even bother to look up at us. We politely asked if we seat ourselves to which she replied “uhg, I guess so yea” and stomped off. We then proceeded to walk towards the back where there were larger tables which only seemed to upset her further because she loudly blurted “oh for christs sake” to the other customers and rolled her eyes at us. I calmly apologized for whatever the hell it was that we did for her to be this frustrated with us after us not even being there for a minute and even asked her if there was something we’d done wrong but she brushed me off and stomped away again. We didn’t take our seats and simply decided to leave. I have never experienced this type of rude behavior before, especially from a small locally owned business. We’ve been wanting to eat here for months and were so thrilled to finally get the chance to go after taking our daughter to the Dino Exhibit so it was super disappointing to just remove this place from our must-try list. They could have made an easy $50+ dollars off of our party of 3 and earned some very loyal customers as we love to support local but that kind of behavior, before the customer has even had the chance to sit, let alone order, is crazy.

Called in, asked to speak with the owner, was EXTREMELY RUDE to me, wouldn't let me get a word off then hangs up. I get they were busy, but it could've been handled far better. I could've been anyone (even the health department), but the person I spoke with probably would smile in my face and take my money if I dined in. One place I will not be bringing my business to.

My wife and I came here in good spirits. I was excited to try this place recommended by a friend. We sat down and the woman came to take our order. I asked a simple question about the options (Do the potatoes and macaroni come as salad?) and she was so abrasively rude, I stared in unbelief for a moment. We finished our order and my wife and I were both stunned. I thought we should leave then but we decided to just stay and eat. The sandwich was mediocre. The interactions after that seemed ok, but afterwards my wife told me that she visibly rolled her eyes after every interaction. We came happy and left sour and bewildered. Will not be returning.

Been going there for many many years. Since it's sale fairly recently, the last 5x I've driven 30 minutes to grab some lunch, it's closed every time. Sometimes there's a note on the door and other times not. I'm done wasting time and money trying to enjoy a nice lunch. Either open your sandwich shop or permanently close it. Pretty simple actually.
