Delicious brunch! Friendly service with a smile. Our friend said her almond croissant was gorgeous. The poached egg with haloumi on sourdough was gorgeous, as was the porridge. 5 ☆☆☆☆ great coffee, too! 😊

We have never thought of a going to eat Sri Lankan food before but once we started eating we realised what we were missing!! We won a £75 voucher in a MND charity raffle, run by Goodman’s Barbers, and visited over the weekend. For a start the team are polite and attentive and always with a smile. We had poppadoms, prawns small plate, followed by rice, braised belly pork, Dahl curry, white fish curry and ribs. The poppadoms were amazing and our favourite was the Dahl however everything we ate was very good! We liked how the plates came out when ready so it felt like tapas. Everything was freshly cooked and hot. Cannot fault and look forward to returning soon. Many thanks to all the team for a lovely evening!

I am blown away to how good this was. Came for lunch which will be a gentle introduction to their menu, so I expect the dinner menu will be fantastic! Beautiful slow cooked, warm spices, every mouthful was tasty. This place is what a lot of national food restaurants aspire to deliver yet rarely do. The fried rice, the beef curry, the sambol, the Dahl, wow wow wow. This is a large space so I imagine you will get a table or a short wait. Do it, you won't regret it. Oh and Hastings Brewing Brother beers, I am so happy!

Had a delicious meal here, with loads of great veggie options. We had the cabbage curry, aubergine curry and banana blossom which were all very tasty. I would also give my girlfriend 5 stars for her company at the end of our holiday together.

We had brunch and will definitely be back to try out the dinner menu. The chef is a creative genius! The food pays homage to Sri Lankan flavours with a very innovative twist. The restaurant has an amazing atmosphere and the staff are so warm and welcoming!

I visited last weekend for a friend's birthday. We were a large booking of 12 people. I was very impressed with everything, from the service, the setting, and the quality of food. The servers were all friendly and attentive, and the food was amazing. There were no complaints around the table, and it all looked delicious. I had the 'Grandma's Chicken Curry' and it was incredible - I'd say the best chicken curry I've had in a long time! Highly recommend this restaurant, and I hope to visit again when I am next in Hastings.

I really enjoyed my visit to Colombo 16 a lot. I visited for brunch on a Saturday in March 2023 and it was great. I had a oatmilk cappuccino which was excellent then I had a vegetarian bap with an egg and potato bun, sambel & red cheddar. Really tasty and delicious. My girlfriend had Kiri Bath with trout and it again was great. Excellent service nice sea views across the promenade in St Leonards.

This place is fantastic. If you're looking for an intimate night out, I highly recommend. The food is exquisite, but the standout had to be the pork Belly! Its tapas style so you'd order 5/6 dishes and there is enough choice to suit all. A real asset to st leonards. Hit up cactus hound for a tequila based cocktail first and you'll have a winning night.

Amazing food, great cocktails and lovely staff and service. We were in their temporary location and it still had a great atmosphere. For dinner and drinks it was so reasonable. Would go again!

Decided to have an impromptu dinner on 30th Dec. There was a lovely feel to the place and we enjoyed seeing the Chef in action. The service was excellent and they dealt well with my many allergies. The food was absolutely amazing and we chose to enjoy it as a tapas, sharing the incredible dishes as they came out! Can't wait to come back and try their brunch/lunch menu!!

Visited for a late Saturday dinner and the whole meal was delicious. We had the mutton cutlet (kind of like a croquette), the whiting, the aubergine, the chicken curry, the dhal, rice some cashews and some poppadoms. I honestly couldn't tell you which dish we liked most as they were all so good! The food prices were very reasonable, though we added a couple of very good cocktails which bumped the total by £20. I really recommend a visit.

Absolutely delicious. LOVE. Food is exceptional, service is fab, can’t wait to return already. Everything we had was extremely tasty. Highly recommend trying an array of all of the dishes - in particular we loved the mushroom, cauliflower, chicken & daal dishes - they are out of this world!

Stunning food. Brilliant service. A great, great food experience. We were welcomed warmly, and had a great little table tucked away in the corner, super romantic. We had the menu options explained to us, we were offered water and drinks, and had beautiful service. The food was next level. The hot battered oyster mushrooms in a spicy tomato sauce were a STUNNING highlight, but the aubergine curry and dahl were also a delight. Often you go out for dinner and leave saying "Yeah, it was nice" or "yeah, decent." Not here. The food was out of this world and we will be back. Thank you to the team at Colombo 16 for a fantastic evening of food.

As a Sri Lankan, I love that Colombo 16 takes the original taste of Sri Lankan food and adds their own flavours with a unique spin. Culture is for sharing and the team at Colombo project the beautiful culture in service, drinks and of course the food! Small plates come when the food is ready and not altogether but everytime a new dish was served, it surpassed the previous one with unreal flavours! The portions are generous and perfect for a more intimate dining experience. The staff are well trained, knowledgeable and friendly. They gave us space to enjoy our food without constantly checking on us, if we needed anything, they were quick to respond. We went on Saturday night and it was very busy with only 2-3 staff on the floor, yet they were efficient with communication and service. I was celebrating a birthday and the chef sent out a complimentary dessert and the staff made me feel very special. Could not recommend Colombo 16 enough 🫶🏼

Colombo 16 is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and the incredible aroma of authentic Sri Lankan spices. Every dish bursts with flavour that are cooked to perfection. The attention to detail is outstanding, and you can really taste the care that goes into each plate. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to recommend the perfect dish if you’re unsure. The atmosphere has a great balance between cosy and vibrant - ideal for a relaxed dinner or a special occasion. Thank you Colombo for introducing me to the Sri Lankan cuisine, I’ll definitely be back!!

I visited Colombo and honestly, it’s one of the best Sri Lankan restaurants I’ve ever been to. The food was amazing full of flavour, perfectly cooked, and so authentic. Every dish tasted fresh and was beautifully presented. The service was absolutely fantastic. The staff were warm, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. You can tell they really care about their customers and take pride in what they do.

Great food and attentive service as always, despite being a busy Friday night. The mutton roll, beef curry, and dhal were particular highlights. Hot buttered squid was excellent too although packs a spicy punch. Great cocktails; the Arrack Sour was recommended by the servers as their house special and barman Troy did not disappoint. Will definitely be back!

Amazing food, the brisket sandwich was incredible. Staff were absolutely lovely, they enjoyed chatting to us and the chef appeared to absolutely love her job and creating the dishes. We really enjoyed our lunch here and hope to visit for dinner soon.

We booked this restaurant for a birthday brunch and the local area can be hit and miss with the reviews. But from the moment we walked in, the only way I could describe the experience was ......perfect. Ambience, food, and drinks were exceptional. I am not going to bore you with a long review, but I will say, with having an open kitchen and all the staff being very attentative, this was a wonderful experience and will definitely be back for the evening menu next time and can't wait !!! A great vegan and non vegan restaurant.

Popped in for a quick bite this morning, I was a little dubious about the menu but took a gamble. Can honestly say we both found it incredible, the meat super tender and the flavours incredible. Will definitely be going back to try more :-)

We had a wonderful meal here last night. Delicious food, beautifully spiced with every dish having it's own distinctive flavours. Good service and atmosphere too. Would definitely go back to this hidden gem.

AMAZING! The soft hint of spice in the air greeted us on arrival creating a sense of the exotic! The food was a feast for the eyes. Each dish exceeded our expectations with wonderful layers of flavour. Somehow they even manage to upgrade the humble poppadom. Really friendly staff and deservedly packed on a Saturday evening so the atmosphere was buzzing just like my taste buds! Cannot wait to go back!

I took my wife as a birthday treat. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, innovative and the service was lovely. We went to the Cake Room, Columbo 16's temporary home whilst their electrics are being sorted at Marina. The new location was lovely, candles lit and intimate. 5 stars!

Truly exceptional! We visited St Leonard’s on our first wedding anniversary to go specifically to Colombo 16 and it did not disappoint! Staff were so friendly, and the food was out of this world - cannot recommend highly enough. Just go!

Went for their pop up at The Cake Room, and it was just as delicious as when Caleb cooks in his restaurant. Fav place to eat out in Hastings, definitely recommend both the pop up and restaurant if you’re looking for a nice meal out, or to impress your dates . The waitresses are always bubbly, attentive and very professional!!! Best place to eat in Hastings for sure xxx

New cuisine experience for us. We chose three dishes- a chicken curry of some sort, white fish curry and aubergine dish. Oh and steamed rice. All delicious. Each dish had its own distinct flavours. Portions not large, but perfectly adequate for us. TBH it is pricey for me, but worth it. Would I go back? yes I would.

We had a lovely Sunday evening meal here - the food was delicious and the cocktails were great too - it felt like proper care had gone into both. Between two of us we had the poppadoms, chicken curry, fish curry, dhal and rice, which was definitely enough. It was quite hard to choose because the vegetarian options looked really good too. It's a shame the outside space isn't nicer - parked cars blocking the sea view - but it looked very nice inside.

Very nice Sri Lankan food. My favourite dishes were the Mutton roll and the braised pork belly. Even though the rest of the dishes we tried were all nice none was anything extraordinary and in fact the flavours in all of them kind of blended into the same spice mixture. This does not mean in any way that the dishes were bad at all!!!

A
Ash Davies

Very lovely people great service and fab interior, can't fault the whole service thing... But although the food was really nice (Maybe a little bland) it was way too expensive for the amount we had which was 5 dishes and a glass of wine with a sweet we thought £60 tops nope it was just over £90, £100 with a tip, yes we were full and yes the service was great but the prices need to be addressed we would be in there every couple of months but now maybe once a year?

Was very excited to visit Colombo as we’d tried previously but not been able to due to challenges with booking and connecting with them via the telephone. Now that we could book by Opentable it made the process much simpler. We booked for Sunday brunch and were surprised that it was mostly not Sri Lankan at all, but there was a Sri Lankan special which looked delicious. We ordered it, and it appeared to come with a side which we ordered although having a sausage with a Sri Lanka dish seemed weird. The dish was delicious, but I was surprised when the bill came to find that the sides had been added as extras. It was only £5.50 extra, but we really wouldn’t have had them if it hadn’t had implied they were included. Rather then just leave a bad review I expressed my concern with the manager who quite frankly wasn’t interested. She said she was sorry, but that’s the way it was priced. I’ve included a copy of the menu - make your own mind up. For me, I won’t be returning which is a shame as their evening meals look lovely, but I’m not willing to go to a restaurant that doesn’t listen to customer feedback and doesn’t try to resolve a misunderstanding.

We have meant to go to Columbo 16 for ages, it has rave reviews and has been recommended to us by a few people. We finally went on Saturday and were sadly disappointed. We arrived at 7.15 pm for our booked table and were seated swiftly, the restaurant is lovely with a great interior and nice atmosphere, the staff were friendly and the table nice and roomy. We were immediately brought menus and asked if we wanted water, we looked at the menus and when the server came back she took drinks orders and asked if we wanted poppadom's and sambols whilst we looked at the menu, we said yes and they came promptly with our drinks. The poppadom were nice, the sambols could have done with some heat but tasted fine. We were ready to order our food but it seemed our server had disappeared, another server was working our sections and a young lady was taking our food and clearing tables, more tables were seated and we waited for someone to take our order, and waited, and waited, meanwhile people who arrived after us were having their orders taken, I finally flagged down the person taking plates out and asked if we could order and they sent someone over, no apology for the wait. We ordered fried chicken , chickpeas , pork belly and a beef curry plus rice. All sharing plates, the chicken was not crispy sadly, the chickpeas were a bit bland and the pork belly despite looking fantastic was again a bit bland, the beef curry was £15 and was a tiny bowl ( not a sharing size) of a peppery coconut sauce with tiny bits of beef floating around in it, more like a soup. We love Sri Lankan food and although not expecting anything traditional found this food very boring , the curry was the only dish that tasted remotely Sri Lankan but was really disappointing for the price. We wondered if we were just being fuss pots and thought we'd try a dessert , it was now 8.30pm ish and according to our booking we only had the table until 9.15pm, we indicated that we'd finished with empty piled plates and waited for a servers, and waited, and waited, and waited, finally at 9pm someone came and asked if we wanted more drinks , I asked for the bill. I appreciated not being rushed , or constant 'how are you getting on' but you do need to be aware that customers need service and are looking around for you sometimes not just admiring the lighting! We were really sad as we had high hopes for our first meal there and hoped it would become a regular amongst our favorite St Leonard's restaurants but we won't be going again.

G
Gabriela Paczkowska

One lady was really nice. One had no idea what was going on - we asked for recommendations and the lady had to look at the menu, clearly had no idea what what in the menu. Sharing concept is all about matching flavours in an interesting way. But here that’s no a thing. Imagine all food mixing in your mouth in a way when you can’t tell one from another. That was it. Everything tasted the same.

Z
Zara Z

We left quite disappointed and also hungry (we all ordered the recommended amount) . I understand this is small plates however the portion sizes are ridiculous, £16 for 4 TINY pieces of fish?? And this is meant to be to share? We were basically eating sauce with rice… at that price point I would at least expect a small fillet. The flavours are really nice but the portion sizes are a massive let down. Don’t get me wrong, we eat out a lot and certainly do not mind paying for nice food however this is just ripping people off.
