My family and I had a great experience at Sweet Cafe. The food, decor and service were exceptional. Don't skip the creme brulee French toast. It was amazing. My father in law said it was the best breakfast he's had in 60 years. Can't wait to go back 👍🏼

My boyfriend and I split a chorizo skillet with a side of berry blast pancakes and a cinnamon frosted french toast, and everything was delicious!!! We also both got mochas that were quite sweet while still tasting like coffee, which is exactly my preference. Portions were sizeable and service was quick and everyone was friendly. This is probably the best brunch place I know of!

There are several reasons why I’m a regular. The food is very good. The service is better and the people are kind and hard-working. Inside and outside, the premises are kept Immaculate. So I found Sweet Cafe looking for a special “thank you and good luck at your new school” gift for our Asst Principal, just based on photos and proximity to his new school. After walking in and seeing the bright and sunny spot, being greeted so warmly by the host/FOH worker, and seeing they had “Fiesta Tacos” on the menu—> I absolutely ordered a to-go breakfast. I knew I wasn’t going to have time to sit and eat because it’s a go-go-go day but that’s alright. Super fast delivery from the kitchen while I got my GC processed and I will definitely come back with my family. These are good. You can see the picture. Would order again :) *** The only thing I would suggest is having soft corn tortillas as a choice. And maybe including the breakfast potatoes with these. Just to give a bit more bulk to the breakfast, but this suggestion might be me not grasping that it’s $5/taco now…

Everyone in my party loved their food. I had the Monte Cristo and it was delicious! It was huge and enough for 2 meals. I like that it is made with chicken instead of turkey, with ham also.

Sweet Cafe is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy good food. They have a great selection of quality food, excellent service, the atmosphere is welcoming, and everything I tried was delicious. Plus, there’s plenty of parking and free valet parking, which makes visiting easy. A really nice spot that I’d happily recommend.

I found a new favorite spot! The atmosphere looks and feels great. Great decor is very Zen-like. Their tables offer plenty of space in between them. The air circulation is amazing, too. Their food was delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive. The coffee was excellent. I recommend their presto chicken panini sandwich. You will not be disappointed. Parking was also plentiful. I shall definitely return.

The location used to be a greasy spoon called the Big Top. This new Sweet Cafe... different category. It's mid February, we got a table in a big, bright sunny room. Happy. Warm. On their "Eggs Benedict" menu, they have Chicken and Biscuits (pic below). Look at that thing. Tasted that good, too.

I have been driving past this spot for the last couple years, down Higgins, on my way to work everyday and have seen how much work, energy and time the owners have put into updating and designing this space for Sweet Cafe! The wait has been worth it- what a great new breakfast spot in the Jefferson Park neighborhood. Sunlight filled space, excellent service and an extensive brunch, breakfast/lunch menu. Meat Lover Skillet did not disappoint! Fluffy pancakes as a side. The place was packed the entire time my friend and I were there, yet food came out quickly and coffee was always refilled. Seems like a great server staff and they all work together to run food, bus tables and checks on customers. I’ll be back. The only thing I thought was weird was that the menu doesn’t offer any simple breakfast combinations, I.e 2 eggs, 2 bacon and 2 pancakes, and so on. Otherwise awesome spot!

Took my mom to Sweet Cafe for the first time and we absolutely had the best time! Our server Ashlee was literally phenomenal!! Would def come back for the food, vibes, and amazing service!!!

My husband has been here before with family, and brought me here for the first time since he knows I love breakfast spots. Service was quick (maybe a 7min wait) with 3 parties ahead of us. Sandee was our server and was very attentive. She gave us great recommendations, and suggested some of her favorite dishes. Although she was busy, she came around multiple times to check up on us. They have an amazing selection of food on the menu and was hard to choose. We ended up getting creme brulee french toast with a side of house potatoes, the Turkey club sandwich and seasonal bread pudding french toast, plus a couple cocktails (I know, a lot of food for 2 people, don't judge me :c ) Food was so good, I forgot to take more photos when the rest of the food came out. As for parking, it's a small lot but they do have complimentary valet (so take your cash for tip, don't be cheap) , but if you rather park yourself there's street parking on the side. Can't wait to come again!

My family and I had a great visit to Sweet Cafe. We tried the Irishman Skillet and the pumpkin pancakes both were delicious. The coffee was really good too. Vicky took care of us and she was very nice, and the rest of the staff was welcoming. We’ll definitely be back.

A very nice place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Food was abundant, tasty, and well-presented. I liked that they use cloth napkins, serve the cream in little pitchers, and the whipped butter and jelly in little metal ramekins- much nicer than everything in plastic. The place was bright, clean, and modern. The parking lot is a little small, but you can also park on adjacent side streets.

The personnel working here are truly exceptional. They regularly checked in with us to determine if we required anything and were poised to implement any necessary corrections. The food was exceptional. I selected the Brie and ham panini, while my partner had the meat and egg skillet. The restaurant was spotless. Yes, parking was plentiful.

I have been anticipating the opening of this new spot and I was very pleased to enjoy my first meal here. I invited friends from Winnetka & Vernon Hills who were impressed by the quality of the food, the look and feel of the restaurant and friendliness and efficiency of the staff. Eggs Benedict, Southern Benedict and Denver Omelette spot on...and SUPERB breakfast potatoes and hash browns...FRESH (not frozen). Fresh squeezed orange juice and pastry counter was icing on the cake. I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this new location!!!!

Highlights: Fresh squeezed juice blends, Great tasting breakfast selection, kind and welcoming staff Suggested by a friend, I took time to patron here. I was greeted at the front with a welcoming face and was given a seat almost immediately. Being a Monday, there was plenty of space. Lianna was my server and was very friendly, suggesting plates that she enjoyed here. I ended up getting the strawberry-orange juice, the south of the border eggs benedict, and French toast. The French toast with powdered sugar was well-prepared. I didn't find it too soggy, and it had just the right amount of crispness and powdered sugar to my liking. It came with a side of soft (Not whipped. Nice~) butter and maple syrup. The eggs Benedict was very delicious. I had the eggs poached at medium hardness, and the yolk came out thick; thin enough to spread, but not leaving a giant mess on my plate like I usually see in some places. I could taste how fresh the jalapeno pieces were and it blended very well with the rest of the dish (I will have to ask for extra next time!) The dish came with a side of grilled potato chunks, which were crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The strawberry-orange juice tasted very mellow, which paired well with my French toast and maple syrup. It's fresh pressed and crafted daily (no concentrate), which is also a plus. Cashing out is like most dining places; pay at the front. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. Thank you for giving me great service and food!

What a wonderful first experience! Ashlee was attentive, friendly and (since it was our first time visiting) informative. We arrived at 2:30p and were honestly expecting to be turned away. However, the friendly man at the counter welcomed us in warmly and reassured us that we should relax and enjoy our meal. And what an awesome meal it was! Fresh and served piping hot. The bread pudding french toast was the perfect combination of crisp yet moist. The side of ham "off the bone" was generous and not overly salted. The glassed atrium was bright, clean and provided a comfortable warm place to enjoy our meal. So happy we stopped in! Will definitely be back to try the other inviting menu offerings!

The ingredients are excellent(fruit, vegetables, egss, etc.) and fresh. I came here because they use free range eggs. The actual presentation and preparation are great. Pancakes and french toast, fluffy and well flavored. Creme brule is particularly good. Only negative is vegetarian lunch options are very limited. It does get crowded on weekends because it's good. My number 1 breakfast place in Illinois, and I have been to alot.

Our waitress was very personable and made sure we has a pleasant experience. She's the one from Costa Rica, if you go their. The food was very good. We’ve been here twice, and both times we got Kailyn as our server. We were told a 25min wait, but got seated faster than that. Both times the food has been awesome. Highly recommend the chicken and biscuits. The lattes here are really good, better than Starbucks. Our server Kailyn was very attentive and cheerful. We appreciated her great work ethic and thoughtfulness. She deserves a raise/promotion!

Our server Ashley was incredibly kind, very knowledgeable of all their dishes and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our brunch. The service is nothing short of amazing here. I had the chicken club with sweet potatoe waffle fries and my fiancé had the Irish skillet with house potatoes. Both were absolutely delicious. We enjoyed bottomless mimosas with fresh puree strawberries and oranges and they offered many different fresh juices. Highly recommend this place. I have gone to Sweet Café a few times since they opened not that long ago, and every time the servers, hosts, and staff as a whole are all so kind and attentive. The atmosphere is great too! The food is also incredible, it is never super greasy and everything I have tried is amazing including the breakfast sandwich and the cinnamon icing french toast. Had a wonderful experience eating there on a Sunday. We usually get put early and beat the crowds. Yesterday, that was not the case. We did not have a long wait time. The food was wonderful! My wife and I split a sweet entre and a savory entre. The kids ate some fruit and pancakes. Our server, Gabby, walked a fine line of making sure we were taken care of, and not neglected, but she also wasn't doting on us every 2 mins. It was nice. As we were getting to the end our meal, I noticed there was an enormous crowd waiting to get tables. At no time, did I feel the staff were rushing us out to free our table. Everytime I go here, it is a pleasant experience! I do recommend going early though.

I’ve been coming here for the past couple months. This has the best atmosphere and everyone is always accepted. The servers are thoughtful and welcoming. The owner of the establishment, Peter, always has a smile on his face and takes time to say hello to the people entering the building. The food is always top tier and lives up to the standards written on the menu. The deserts are always fresh and a perfect balance of sweetness. This breakfast spot is a great example of a high-quality establishment that still offers good amounts of food for a fair price. Sweet Cafe satisfied my need for a classic breakfast without trying to be too gourmet with the dishes. Although none of the dishes I tried stood out as unique, they were all excellent in flavor and presentation. There is only so much one can do with breakfast food, but the best anyone can do is make the highest quality breakfast food around, and Sweet Cafe does exactly this. The staff was quick and attentive. The location is fantastic because one wouldn't struggle to drive up to this restaurant. They even offer valet parking for those who might need extra assistance to avoid the walk to the door. The atmosphere is very bright and illuminated because of the natural lighting. The food might be slightly more on the pricey side, but they do not skimp on the portions. I got to try the berry pancakes (delicious and fresh), the pork adobo chilaquiles (good but I want more of a spice kick from the dish), the bacon (thick cut and crispy; too rich for my palate), and cold brew (refreshing and bold with flavor!). My sibling had the eggs benedict, they were good as well. Sweet Cafe is the type of place that I would like to bring people to. Give them a try, you'll probably enjoy your experience as much as I did.

I usually don’t leave reviews, but this place was so outstanding that I felt I had to! Going out to eat with an 18 month old is no small feat. This place catered to small kids (and their parents) SO phenomenally well. Our daughter’s food was brought out first and SO quickly. They gave all of the small kiddos a balloon and coloring sheet with markers to help keep them busy. The food was outstanding, the service was impeccable and we left feeling so well taken care of. The restaurant was clean and bright. I seriously cannot say enough good things about it. We’ll be back FOR SURE.

Took my wife for breakfast & we both had the Denver Omelette with diced potatoes with a side pancakes along with the strawberry orange juice. Overall the omelette was great, it was big portion. The diced potatoes were good as well. The pancakes on the other hand.. they were a bit gooey & stuck the roof of my mouth lol. Service wasn’t bad but I really enjoyed the atmosphere!

Beautiful remold of the old big top restaurant. Service was good but not great, food was good but not great. We got there at noon and the place was busy. Sat in the front part closest to the parking lot, was exceptionally loud in there. We had a hard time talking. I ordered the Ruben, good but not great....was a little lacking in the amount of corned beef. We had two Rubens, one grilled cheese, bloody mary, mimosa and diet coke and the bill was almost $78. Was just reading other reviews and saw someone else said the same about the Ruben not having enough meat on it.

We went for breakfast and it was delicious. I had the lox platter and the lox was shaped like a rose. Beautiful presentation. The burgers looked good and the potatoes were delicious as well. The only issue I had was the whole restaurant offers only two toilets so there was a line for the bathroom.

3/5 of us got the skillets. I had the veggie. The potatoes were amazing! Yes, worth the dish, but the amount of veggies were minimal… lots of chopped onions maybe 2-3 small florets of broccoli and 2-3 leaves of spinach. Everyone’s skillet was 80% potatoes, 15% egg and only 5% advertised ingredients, in my case veggies. Service was great, a little loud but they tried to space us out until it got busy.

Cute breakfast spot. Went here on a Sunday morning around 1030 and were seated right away. I tried the chorizo Hash skillet bowl - it was good, but I think I enjoyed the side of pancakes more. My husband had a waffle loaded with fresh strawberries and blueberries; that looked delicious. We asked for plain chocolate chip pancakes for my child with chocolate chips on the side. They brought the chips on the side but drizzled the Pancakes with chocolate, which defeats the purpose of having them "plain." So, of course, I had to scrap off as much of the chocolate as I can so the boy would eat it. This place will be a go to option for future brunch spots.

Nice little hidden place in the neighborhood. We came in roughly 10am on a Friday and there were a few guest inside. We were greeted and given a table right away. The staff was friendly and the food was good.

Been here a couple times now and me and my wife both agree that is a pretty good place for food. We've had breakfast both times. The food is always cooked well and looks delicious. Of course the food actually taste delicious as well. The service was professional. Our server was very nice and patient. They have complimentary valet parking (tip your valet guy). We will be back

Stopped in for the first time. Nice place. I was greeted and seated right away. The Bussers were very attentive, brought me water, my decaf and picked up my plates. I had a Denver Omelette with potatoes and pancakes. I never had potatoes like that, they were very good. The food was great and so was the coffee. The coffee cream came warm and it made the coffee taste very good. I also liked the added touch of the cloth napkin. My only negative was the server, she had a pretty ruff personality, it was more of a truck stop server personality. The female Bussers are the ones who were really nice. I'll go back, I'll just make sure I sit somewhere else. One other thing that did bother me was a fee added to my bill called a "Service fee." Prices were on the higher side.

Nice breakfast spot with a good menu and great service (especially Lianna!). The South of the Border Benedict was delicious and I love when I can choose how crispy I like my hash browns. And kudos for the perfectly poached eggs!

Ham Hash Skillet was good, I ordered it with breakfast potatoes, which were much larger than I thought they might be. Probably would have been better with hash browns instead. Eggs done over easy, just as I ordered. Skillet came to the table piping hot and extremely quick. I'd say maybe 8 minutes had past between ordering it to when it arrived at the table. We asked our server Gaby to surprise us with one of the specialty french toasts as a side and she chose the Cinnamon Icing Challah bread french toast. It was super sweet and very soft. Had a mild cinnamon taste to it, not overwhelming or anything. Gaby herself was very polite and checked on us a handful of times offering refills on coffee and asking how the food was. She thanked us for coming in as well. The restaurant has a modern feel to it. The dining room is divided and one half of it felt like an old fashioned Wendy's sunroom. The menu here dives into pretty basic breakfast and lighter lunch fare, some things have slight alterations or twists to them to give them more character. The table next to us ordered a Chicken Pesto Panini that looked mouthwatering, I'll try that next time. I'd give Sweet Cafe a grade likely just above a 4. We had a very nice breakfast here and would come back.

It's a nice brunch place to throw into the mix. Busy on Sunday so be prepared for a Lil wait. The food had great flavors and portions. The biscuits and gravy to me gave off pizza vibes, lots of fennel seed, bay leaf n chives, big chunk sausage. The iced mocha was tasty.

Waited 30 extra minutes to be seated due to the hostess giving away our table. Space is small so not much room to wait. We had a good experience the first time around and wanted to bring our family and friends, but the waiting made everyone irritable especially in such a confined space where people are coming in and out. Food was good, but what made the experience worth while was our server Gabby. She was very attentive and helpful.

The atmosphere was great. Friendly-Staff. Food was a little bland, nothing special or unique. The pancakes were yummy. I wouldn’t go back just because i have been tried tastier brunch locations. But i would recommend any of the sweet items. (duh sweet cafe 😅)

The place is nice and cozy, service is nice as well. Food wise was tasteless, and a bit greasy the skillets. The chicken pita so dry. Burgers tasteless. The smoke salmon has homemade sauce that tastes like mayo and it was all over the salmon slices. I’m really sorry but this dish was uneatable. Too expensive and not worth it. Nice place but the food needs flavor and to taste good.

First we were sat in a back corner next to a couple with a stroller blocking us in, we ordered an ice coffee that looked like dirty water and was horrible, so we asked for a freddo cappuccino that had 2 ounces of coffee and all foam… terrible. Food we ordered a classic breakfast which was fine and a Reuben sandwich.. and it was disappointing. Cream of Chicken rice soup was good. Fo saying they were a coffee bar… is an overstatement. I’ve been to many coffee shops and this was far from having a good coffee. Will never go back, disappointing.

We tried it. We heard a lot of good things. First of all the place is very loud. Between the loud music and the plates being thrown around couldn’t hear ourselves talk. We don’t get the hype. Overpriced. Cheese was cold in the omelette. Food came out oily. Our server couldn’t care less. Vikki was not excited to be at work today. Sorry honey. Very disconnected. Sweet Cafe must do better.

Ordering and picking up was a breeze and the host was very kind. I would like to give this place a higher rating but I ordered the chorizo hash skillet bowl and was disappointed when I got home to see the chorizo overcooked and burnt that it was almost black and had a sour taste. Really disappointed they would serve food that way. While the rest of the bowl was delicious, I wasn’t able to completely enjoy it.

We have been coming to Sweet Cafe since it opened. Never had a bad experience until today. After waiting for sometime for someone to come to our table we had to flag down a bus girl to get our server. Our server came to the table and looked like she was being bothered. No smile no hello. Very dry. Viki She took our order and we never saw her again. Someone else dropped our food. Never came to check on us. Eggs were wrong. Food was ok but eggs came out wrong. Coffee was hot but empty.

We have been here before. Normally pretty good but today was not. Service wasn’t pleasant. Young female that had a bad attitude and was playing with her hair while taking our order. Disgusting. Waited a long time for our coffee. Man brought out our food and never saw our waitress again.

I have been a loyal, regular customer of this place for a long time and always ordered the same dishes. Unfortunately, the quality has been declining steadily. When I first ordered the crepes with mascarpone, they were generously filled with mascarpone cheese. Over time, the amount of mascarpone was clearly reduced and replaced with chunks of strawberries to create the illusion of proper filling, while there was barely any mascarpone at all. I ignored this for a while, but what I received today crossed a serious line. The strawberries inside the crepes were spoiled and not fresh. The taste was rotten and completely unacceptable. Even worse, the crepes had a strong smell and taste of meat or grill, as if they were cooked right after meat on the same surface. This raises serious concerns about cross-contamination, hygiene, and food safety standards. The combination of spoiled fruit and a strong meat/grill smell made the food inedible. I felt nauseous and couldn’t even eat half of the portion — I had to throw it away. This situation is not only unacceptable but potentially dangerous, as spoiled food and signs of cross-contamination can pose serious health risks. I am extremely disappointed and no longer trust this place.
