I’m a regular at this Chicken Express, and they consistently nail the basics. My go-to is the 4-piece chicken tender meal with mashed potatoes, gravy, and a roll—always paired with their excellent sweet tea. The food comes out in a timely manner every single time, but what really stands out is the staff. I know for many of the employees, this is their first job, and it’s clear they are working hard to be professional and helpful. Despite what some other reviews might say, I always see them giving their best effort. Great food, fair pricing for the portion sizes, and a hardworking crew. I’ll definitely keep coming back!
I'm on the road a lot for work and eat out way more than I should, so I've tried Chicken Express locations all over. Hands down, this one on Southwest Blvd in San Angelo is the best of the best! The service is outstanding — everyone is extremely nice, friendly, always smiling, and genuinely helpful. It makes a huge difference when you're tired from traveling. The food is consistently hot, fresh, and delicious too (love those tenders and rolls!). If you're in San Angelo, skip the other spots and come here. Highly recommend!

When we are craving good fried chicken and we don’t want to go too far, Chicken Express can be the right place. They have a huge servings of chicken... you can have rolls or biscuits with them, their is a good selection of other sides such as fried okra, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese and a lot more, their brewed iced tea is amazing too. If you are in a hurry, their drive thru is pretty quick with your order, unless you are ordering livers of course... for that you gotta wait about 10 mins. The place is very accessible with ample parking if you are dining in.
Walking in, completely dead for a lunch time. The cashier seemed as if her job was an inconvenience to her. I ordered the 4 tenders mac fries and corn nuggets, didnt get the mac and the tenders tasted as if they have been there for a bit. He ordered the 3 PC chicken dinner. He got 2 pieces. Of course they gave us our items we paid for...chicken express is not what it use to be.
Chicken tenders and fry’s always taste gross. Honestly don’t know how over the years it became worst since it was a really nice place to get chicken tenders. I hope bush’s chicken comes back and replace the chicken expresses restaurants.
I placed a family order online and when I got to the store I had to wait at least 5 minutes before being helped. Once I did get help my order wasn’t even ready. They said that they didn’t receive it on there end. I had to reorder my entire meal and wait like 10 minutes for it to be done. When I got home our food was cold and the chicken was dry and small pieces. Plus the gallon of tea I ordered was overly sweet to where I couldn’t even enjoy it. Mind you they weren’t even going to give me the tea because they forgot about it until I said something. Not even an apology for the long wait was given.
The food here is hit or miss. Sometimes it's actually hot and good, but other times it's old and nasty. The last time we ordered here it was so bad I just tossed my box of food into the trash. The chicken had 0 flavor, except grease, mashed potatoes were yuck and rolls were burnt. I think I'm just gonna stick to Canes for now on.
We came to order food and the lady taking orders through drive thru was very rude to us and very very unprofessional with us we decided to drive off because of the way she made us feel about our order this isn’t the first time.
Dry, cold chicken, only rolls, any sauce is 45 cents. Only tea to drink, not even soda. How do they expect to stay in business?
Do not order online! I’ve ordered online 3 times and they’ve all been wrong. Not just mix-ups, but just leaving off several items in the order. They will not re-deliver your missing items. Rather, they tell you that you can request them the next time you come in person.
I was looking forward to my favorite gizzards from Chicken Express. Boy was I disappointed. They are usually fresh out of the fryer, tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside. These were crunchy all right, but so greasy and tough they were inedible. The picture (gross, I know) is what I tried to eat. Sometimes there is one or maybe too that are tough, but this is EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. What happened??
I walked in and found an older man upset because the manager refused to sell him a 16 piece order of dark meat. The blonde female manager said “she had to save dark meat for other customers” and refused to sell the man a 16 piece order. The gentleman said every time he comes to this location they refuse to sell him dark meat as he requested as if his money wasn’t good enough as the other customers that might request the meal. Made me not even want to do business here if I wouldn’t have been staying in the hotel next door! Horrible employee staff and they all looked at the screens confused and DUMBFOUNDED as they didn’t know what to do when the customer ordered food!
Went through drive thru got shorted. Called to report the shorted item and went to message box and no one called me back. The drive thru worker was super friendly they shorted me and I called so they could make it right. Disappointed they did not take care of this oversight.
Manager called the order number and I raised my hand. When I opened my food and said oh this is not our order. I took the order up to the counter and stated this is not what I ordered. At this point the manager became very confrontational. Began rudely and loudly yelling at me, well you opened it, over and over. I explained yes I did that's how I know it's not what I ordered. He would not stop saying yeah well you opened it so I left the food on the counter and sat back down at my table. When he delivered the new boxes of food he plopped it on the table and stood there staring at us. I asked, this is order 16 correct? The guy started being rude , angrily stating he didn't need my attitude. I explained I didn't appreciate his attitude and asked him to please move away from our table and leave us alone. He became even more abusive and confrontational. His reply was, he didn't have to step away from our table or do anything we asked for that matter. At this point my mentally handicap brother was getting upset as all he knew, we were being attacked. He then stated he was to call the cops. I recommended he did call the police but please step away from our table and leave us alone. When I asked to speak to the manger he began to walk off and yelled across the restaurant that he was the manager. Then while dropping off food at another table he slammed ( and I do mean slammed) the chair into the table next us and gave us a dirty look. We tried to finish our meal but before we were done eating, this guy yells across the restaurant in a derogatory demeanor, you feel better now that we ate lunch. First off I wasn't the one with the problem so I took this as hostile and him trying to agitate us. I again asked him to stop speaking to us. At this point my brother so upset we had to leave before finishing our meal. This guy just would not stop harassing us nor stop trying to create a volatile situation. Again he made the mistake not me. His behavior was unacceptable and childish. Beware of the young dark haired manager who didn't have a name tag or I would have shared his name in this post. Very unprofessional and childish. I will never patron any chicken express in the future. No customer deserves to be verbally assaulted or threatened because the staff brought the wrong order. Horrible management.
Just had my worst fast food experience here. An individual (claiming to be a manager-no name tag) took our order. Ordered a #1. As per the menu, the number 1 included a drink, yet got charged extra. While trying to understand the extra charge, said individual got frustrated stating he's had a long day and didn't have time for it, then proceeded to accuse us of raised voices and that he would have us escorted out, despite us remaining calm throughout the entire encounter.
Ordered a family meal that was hard as a rock, tasted bad felt like it was just recooked, called and asked if I can get another order of fresh chicken, whoever answered said had no complaints about his chicken as if I was lying to get another order, just wanted fresh chicken didn't care if I had to pay but I did pay for the meal so why can't they give me fresh chicken? And have an attitude because my chicken tasted bad I should be the one mad, poor customer service, don't work somewhere you don't want to be. 0/10
the first part of our late night dinner snack was okay, after that, service went down hill fast. Employee was informed the Dr. P was running out, said idk under his breath and did nothing about it. Instead he had dumped the rest of the nights old sweet tea, about 30 % of a gallon. And walked by table, sat it down and walked off. Since when was old sweet tea anything like a fresh Dr. Pepper fountain drink. He them proceeded to mop the lobby and while we were still eating had the nerve to mop at our table and halfway under it. come on people,. tryin to enjoy my food... After he finished that , around 20mins til closing time, he then told us that he needed to lock up, the store was about to close in few and that we needed to make our way out. well I didn't rush out, I still had 20 mins left to eat, gather my leftovers and my boyfriend still had time to use the restroom, so I thought. I heard him say, "it's closing time, need to lock up and time to go, cause if the people driving into parking lot see ya they will want to come inside as well" about 3 times in matter of couple minutes. By then I was little angry, so I stopped eating, picked up our food to take home, and gathered it up and all our things and I went outside onto patio to wait for my boyfriend, whom wasn't out of RR yet. But as soon as he was, he went outside as well. The employee was right behind him, he wasn't even all way thru door and it was getting locked. Keep in mind, the store still had about 10 mins left. Pitch dark on the dot, 10pm. By 1015 pm the store and the parking lot was totally empty. Not one employee tobe seen... that was the worst dinner I've ever had and think it was our last dinner to eat there or even to get in drive thru. Very bad service after we had gotten food, rushed ,and didn't even or one of us wasn't they eating yet.(me). rude rude rude and very unprofessional... hope he don'take any management positions there, nor any kind of crew leader...
