Hubby and I wanted a drink so we randomly stopped at Cafe Ole's outside bar. We met Gina G., the bartender and she is amazing! Her knowledge of drinks and recommendations are on point. When she mixes up your drinks they hit the mark and presentation is perfect. 👌🏻 Highly recommend the King George Margarita with tajin on the rim and the Maria's Mango Fresca. The free tortilla chips and fresh salsa are the perfect compliment! Sit at the outside bar with a fresh drink at Cafe Ole and people watch...BONUS if you get to have Gina as your bartender!
My boyfriend and I came last minute on Valentine’s Day, they sat us right away! And not to mention right on the river walk with an amazing view! From there our experience was only elevated, our server was AMAZING, 10/10 service, very attentive and food was so delicious, definitely made my night. Was the perfect date night on the riverwalk and definitely will be back!
their chicken flautas tastes really good, as well as beans. I didn’t enjoy the rice as much though, but the vibe and environment were great. I had a house margarita and it was really good, I would recommend to get that drink if you are in the mood. I definitely would come back here if I happen to be at River Walk, I was there because my family and I couldn’t decide where to eat and we randomly chose this place. I would say we’re happy with this place honestly, I read the reviews beforehand but my opinion is that we enjoyed it. :)
What a nice experience. 60 oz margarita enough for three to share. Fun times. Wait staff took a little long but it was a holiday so it was to be expected. Great view and wonderful atmosphere. They have fans with most outside to help combat the San Antonio’s heat! Big thumbs up on that. Complimentary chips and salsa was very tasty. Priced for the river walk. I would definitely be back.
My visit to Café Olé was anchored by standout service and flavorful dining. The waiter’s (Justin) warm, personal approach elevated the entire meal, while the food itself hit the mark with taste and quality. The waitresses’ gesture of highlighting the Selena-table seating added a charming, authentic San Antonio touch. Overall, Café Olé is a spot where service and atmosphere complement approachable, tasty dishes — a combination that can shine.
I had dinner at Cafe Ole the other night with a larger group and all needed separate checks. My server was Gina G. and she was able to separate all of our checks as well as removing the alcoholic drinks from our meal checks so they can be submitted for reimbursement to work. Gina G was excellent and I would strongly recommend Cafe Ole. The only minor issue was that the music was a little loud for conversation.
Went to San Antonio to have dinner with the Family on the River. We have several restaurants to choose from on the river walk. The kids feel like they want quesidese. We settle for Cafe Ole. It is around 6pm in June so it is hot but under all the trees and shade with the fans running, we were feeling comfortable. The service from Andy and other staffs was great. The food came out pretty quick and quickly devour them. It was good. The drink and the sitting next to the river walk was great. Total bill for 5 $100 not include tip. Here are the dishes we ordered. Lol..pigeon not included.
Gina G. was our waitress and she was absolutely lovely. Her recommendations were on point and the overall experience was wonderful. I'm glad we chose to try this place out and hope to visit again.
Gina was an amazing waitress with us as a group of 16 young teenagers. She was perfect! Very accommodating. Clean place and great food!
Today we received great service from Will. He was attentive, welcoming and friendly. Recommended great drinks and we will definitely be back. We value great customer service.
Great service experience. Kaylee was very kind and attentive and Josh made for a fun experience. Thank you to them both.
Came here for lunch and honestly the food wasn’t too great but kaylee our server was awesome! We had some good drinks and kaylee was very accommodating and understanding. Thank you!
My server Kaylee was fabulous! She was super helpful with making a decision from the menu and the enchiladas were great!
I had a wonderful time with my friends over there. Gina G. was our waitress that night and she added to my group's vibes for a lively night at the River Walk. The food was good, the ambience was emerssive, overall a great experience.
5 stars for Ms Gina with a G!!!!! She made our experience one to remember, we could have stopped anywhere on the river walk but we were lucky enough to stop here. My young son thought the single red chip in the complimentary basket was the coolest thing, she overheard surprised him with a plate of red chips just for him. The perfect blend of drink recommendations and kindness towards our little ones. This was the best culinary experience we’ve had in our stay!
Great food! The cochinita pibil was amazing, and the enchiladas verdes were the best we've had anywhere. Mr Ibrahim, the general manager, was attentive, accommodating, and very friendly. Nellie was charming, knowledgeable, and efficient--professional and delightful. The Riverwalk is magical!
Came out for my godson’s Airforce graduation and had dinner here. Will was great . Great service fun personality. Food and drinks very nice
Will was our waiter and he was great. He was so attentive and playful with our toddler and took great care of us. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip and request Will.
Yazmin is the best server! Gave my fiance and I honest suggestions on food selections based on our preferences for our pre wedding dinner, and did not steer us in a wrong direction. Enjoyed our experience mostly because of her kind and sincere energy. Will be back and request her!
Teri was amazing! Great recommend on the Effen cucumber margarita! It's a must! Skip the torta de carnitas... Not my fave... But wow, that margarita and fantastic service! Plus, right on the Riverwalk....
Came for a birthday celebration and Jeremy was our server. Recommend you ask for him on your next visit. Thank for great service!
Ate with the family after the Dia De Los Muertos parade on the river. Our server Angel was great!!! He got along well with my husband, another professional yapper. Even with how busy it was we were seated and our food was brought to us quickly.
Was an amazing experience! The staff was over the top accommodating. Food great! Drinks great! Gina V was amazing! Will be back!
Hi so my servers name was zeriah, she was super quick, and very sweet!! Best service I’ve had here so far!!! Def asking for her again:) (also food was so good!)
It’s my second time here and it’s truly amazing and the service is always great! This time Yazmin took care of me and she was awesome! She told me I sat on the same table Selena Quintanilla was once!
Food was amazing and Jeremy, our waiter, was one of the most fun waiters I’ve ever had. Great atmosphere too! Would definitely recommend!
Stopped in for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised by how awesome the entire experience was. The food was yummy, especially the churros. Jeremy and Dylan were the best. Highly recommend eating here.
Cafe Olé has always been a favorite of ours! We had such a great experience this past time. If you get waited on by Gina G. and Yazmine, you're sure to have a great time they are the best!
Mari was amazing and attentive. She made sure all the food came out at an appropriate time and made sure the entire order was perfect. The restaurant is perfectly located on the riverwalk so the ambience is good. The food was delicious and had a lot of flavor. The spice level was the right amount especially for someone like me who can’t tolerate spicy food well. Would come back again next time in San Antonio.
Paul was our server and made lunch such a memorable experience! He was very attentive, kind and I never had to ask for a refill. His section was very busy too as I came here on a Saturday with my daughter. We will definitely be back when I visit her next! Thank you for taking such wonderful care of us Paul!!!
Great food and drinks!! House margarita was really good, but the carne asada fries were EPIC! Teri was a great waitress. Always had a positive attitude with a smile when she was running around serving people. So glad we came in!!
Julia was AMAZING! We were here the night of the Día De Los Muertes parade and it was super busy. She managed the crowd like a pro and was very attentive and friendly to all the tables in her area! Excellent service and the food was great!
My family and I had a wonderful time here. It is unusual to find a good Mexican restaurant around these parts. Our waitress, Will, was especially kind to us and was very attentive to what we needed. He is the best!
Jeremy was an awesome server! He was friendly, communicative, and got our order just right. Would recommend again!
Marg was great! And Kayle was great very fast and even had suggestions on tequila when the one I wanted was not available.
Lucky for us, we came here on a Monday night and got to enjoy Cafe Ole without the crowds! We sat outside and enjoyed cheese enchiladas with the delicious frozen margaritas! Our server, Jasmine was so delightful! Overall, great food, great service with a great atmosphere!
Dylan, our server, seemed new and was struggling a bit, which we understand. However, Jeremy really stood out. Even with his own tables, he took the time to help us and support his coworker. Very professional and provided outstanding customer service. Highly recommend Jeremy — definitely management material!
Jeremy was awesome. Very engaging and fun to be served by. Food was good, and had a great time enjoying. The atmosphere of the place. Jeremy gets a 10 out of 10. Thank you!
I got the corn and the Birria tacos, they taste amazing on an empty stomach. Great sites while sitting on the ledge, able to hear lots mariachi singers and chatter which is great in case if you want to chat to your friend and get serious within it. This one waiter who is a dude is a great server named will he was very friendly and of a good soul, definitely go with a friend or two
I had such a great experience at Café Olé! Our server, Kaylee, was absolutely wonderful, friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. She checked in at just the right times, and had such a positive attitude that really added to the overall vibe of the meal. Everything came out perfectly and quickly. You can tell she really cares about giving her guests a great experience. Highly recommend asking for Kaylee if you dine here!
Gina V. was the Absolute Best! We had the pleasure of dining Cafe Ole this recently, and I have to say, the experience was made even better by our amazing waitress, Gina V. The place was packed, but out of nowhere, Gina came over with fresh chips and salsa. She quickly became our full-time waitress, and we couldn't have been happier with her service. She was always on top of things, never letting our drinks run low, keeping the salsa fresh, and making sure we had everything we needed, including any extras we ordered. Her attention to detail and friendly attitude really made the meal enjoyable. As for the food, the margaritas and beef fajitas are definitely a must-try! Both were absolutely delicious and paired perfectly. Highly recommend both the food and the service. Gina V. definitely made our experience one to remember!
We were casually walking along San Antonio's infamous river walk and came across this amazing spot for a traditional lunch. We were greated by a very friendly host who promptly seated us and staff were bustling around ensuring we had beverages, complimentary chips and salsa, menus, and felt welcome! We ended up ordering birria quesadillas and shrimp tacos, both of which we absolutely AMAZING! EVERYTHING about this experience was a solid 10/10. The atmosphere sitting outside along the River Walk watching people, and birds floating along the river was relaxing and enjoyable. I'd highly recommend trying out Cafe Ole on your next opportunity, you won't be disappointed!
We were looking for a delicious Mexican restaurant along the river and that is what we found!! Justin our server started us off chips and waters without us even having to ask. Very much appreciated! Our food was put very fast and all quite delicious. I got the shrimp tacos (took an image after I dug in), another individual got brisket tacos and pork tacos (only thing on brisket tacos possibly have it more shredded and less fat. Otherwise, great flavor.) Then, the last order an individual got was puffy tacos and they were delicious as well. Will definitely be back in the future for wonderful food again.
We came here today. The food was absolutely amazing. The street corn was delicious. I got a salmon salad. It was huge and amazing. Justin was our waiter and he was absolutely awesome. He helped us with everything on the menu gave us great tips and was so personable the entire time. We would definitely come back.

Xavier was our waiter and he checked on us frequently. Food, service, and drinks were all great!

Café Olé was our first stop on the River Walk, and we chose to sit inside for some relief from the Texas heat. We appreciated the large waters brought to the table right away, and the salsa was honestly the highlight of the meal, fresh and full of flavor! The two menus were a bit confusing since they listed the same items but with different prices. As for the food, the enchiladas weren’t quite as impressive as the charro beans, which stood out as the better dish. Cocktsils were very good as well as the service! Overall, it wasn’t perfect, but we’d be open to giving Café Olé another try.
Very rich food! The excellent attention the delicious boats! I recommend the margarita! Super refreshing and very delicious! You can sit outside the view is wonderful Because you can enjoy the river walk and other surroundings 💃 💃 👌Also the delicious guacamole extensive menu there are also mariachis and domestic and imported beer! More places of entertainment and culture very close which you can enjoy just walking The bar inside is very big you can stop at the balconies with a margarita and have a pleasant time.
Dinner was good. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. I had the carne asada burrito and the wife had a taco salad. The burrito was good but the paper they put under the burrito not so much. Had to remove it to keep eating. The taco salad was ok. Chips lacked flavor but the salsa was good. Walked right up on a Saturday night but it was still busy.
Gina V.'s service was quick, attentive, and top of the line. She anticipated our every need for our sunday brunch on the riverwalk. Excellent service, excellent food and excellent atmosphere for a family vacay
The restaurant has a lively ambiance and is located in a great spot on the river walk. However, the food quality could still be improved. I ordered steak and fried shrimp, which was okay but could have been much better, especially the steak. Despite this, the overall vibe was lovely and pleasant.

Visited Ole Café while exploring the River Walk. The location is definitely a win! It’s a great spot to stop and grab a bite with a nice view and lively surroundings. The restaurant itself was packed, and it seems to be part of a larger group of three restaurants operating together under one roof, which might explain why things felt a bit chaotic. We ordered quesadillas, which were supposed to be beef and chicken, but honestly, they tasted like just cheese stuffed in a tortilla, pretty underwhelming. The food wasn’t bad, just not what we expected and definitely not the highlight of the visit. If you’re in the area, it’s convenient for the location, but don’t go in with high food expectations, it’s more about the setting than the flavors.
Went here for Valentines Day 2022. Many others places were booked up, and we weren’t sure we’d get to town in time in our travels to make an appointment in advance. So we just came down and looked for a spot with openings. When I asked if they had tables, the gal boasted that they own a couple facilities next to each other and have the largest capacity for diners done there, and they would be able to get us right in. Well, getting us right in, still took a half hour, and still left us with a dirty table that had yet to be wiped off yet. Waiter was very nice and helpful, and as soon as he realized we had a dirty table, he had us taken care of. He was a good server, helping with suggestions and kept on top of things. Food was ok. Nothing spectacular. Most of it was warm, and the cooler breeze outside could have contributed to the parts that were not. Not terribly flavorful. I cannot say for sure what happened, but after eating here, I was ok, but my girlfriend got sick and we had to head back to the hotel. The entire next day, I was on my own, because she was violently sick the entire day as well. (I went on my own because she wanted peace, lights out, etc., and preferred she was alone to rest) So while I can’t say it was this place, it’s highly suspected. I’m still giving 3 stars, because I don’t know for sure, and also the 30min wait and dirty table could have also come from being busy that night. However, I still feel we should have been told there was a wait, if there would be one, and sitting at a table full of food chunks on Valentine’s Day (let alone any others), isn’t very cool. So for those couple things, in addition to all mention above, 3 starts is what it gets.
Service was SUPER quick and we ate outside alongside the river walk- the atmosphere was great! Only complaints is the food lacked flavor. Some dishes were better than others. Salsa & chips were good. Paid $11 for homemade guac that tasted store bought. Lacked flavoring. Couldn’t tase onion, lime, or cilantro. Would not recommend. However, the street corn was amazing. Also $11 and the serving size was 1 stick. Quality was good but $11 for a skinny stick of corn was a little much. The burrito lacked flavor. Chicken was dry and shredded. Had the flavorless guac on it. Would recommend beef next time
Can't beat the experience of dining along the riverfront here. Fans blowing and shaded trees. I asked for grilled chicken for my small salad, which is still good size, and the chicken was cold and dry. The burritos are good size, however their frys are not crispy and just blah. Mark was are waiter and was attentive.
came here during happy hour. no wait. was new to the area and walked around river walk looking for a place to eat and the host of this restaurant was really hustling. He was calling after everyone to eat here. We decided to go for the $5 margs. we ended up getting some margs, and tacos. the steak tacos are great. the chicken tacos not so great. chips and salsa were fresh. the salsa a bit too spicy. the house margs were great! our server was fine. could not find her during our meal but she might’ve been busy. waited 30 mins for our check. a little annoying but it’s alright. We walked here from our hotel so could not tell you about parking. lots of birds in this area. Great outdoor seating. quiet in door seating.

We had a nice spot on the water. Food was pricey for what it was. atmosphere is great. Guacamole was tasty. Fajitas needed more peppers and onions.
Disappointing! 20 min wait out front made us think they were full and busy, but revealed a half-empty dining room inside. Ambiance inside was nothing like the ambiance outside-- fun music but otherwise run down and loud with too many TVs. Old decor and scratched tables, etc. Burned kids quesadilla was flipped over so it was "hidden" from my six year old (which she promptly discovered because it tasted burned). My 12oz margarita was tiny, cost $15, and was mostly ice. Messy plating all around. Couldn't pick up my taco without getting guac all over my hand. Chile relleno was odd and underflavored. Beef taco was no better than Taco Bell quality. Charro beans were sloppy and not seasoned well. Smoked tacos with brisket contained meat that was bland and not cut well for inside a taco. Bright spot! The flour tortilla was good! And the salsa was tasty! Server was nice. We won't be back and wouldn't recommend to a friend.
I didn't think it was possible to find bad Mexican in San Antonio, but I did. 0rdered crispy beef tacos and large side of guacamole. The crispy taco shells were like eating Styrofoam, and the beef was plain, overcooked, and unseasoned. The beans were a salt bomb and dry. I dumped a load of the table salsa in and mixed it with the rice in hopes of redeeming them. It worked a little bit The large guacamole was $ 10 and was a rhin layer over a lot of lettuce - great for a guacamole salad. In all I took the tables idea chips which were salty but crispy and made nachos to go. It was mildly edible but overall the dishes were salty, bland and dried than the Sahara desert in summertime. Props to the staff and the bar has grea5 music - not a bad place to stop for a beer.
The only reason to visit is for the margaritas and the view. The food is terrible. I ordered beef puffy tacos, the meat tasted what I imagine dog food would taste like (based off the smell of dog food). The meat had no texture and was drenched in orange-ish liquid. We also ordered the shrimp ceviche, it had maybe 6 pieces of diced shrimp in it. My son enjoyed his pizza though. But the rest of our party left very disappointed.
Worst tex-mex ever. Not sure why so many stars. Others must not know good Mexican food or Tex mex. I live in Houston so we know good food. The regular ground beef tacos didn’t taste good. No flavor. Couldn’t even eat it. The chicken enchiladas verde were just ok. I’d say 3 out of 10. The birria tacos were probably the best but really just ok. 3/10. If you’ve had Black Market Birria in Houston, you would know good Birria. And the street tacos, subpar. Would never return here. Waiter was doing a good job.
The service was pretty good once they made it to our table. Very nice server. The food was not very good (burrito, queso dip, loaded fries) and the drinks were not drinkable. The atmosphere was just ok... felt like a tourist trap. Wish I could say better things because the server was so nice... but really that was it...
I understand why Cafe Ole had no wait on a friday night while a massive convention was happening next door. The food was mediocre, the server got my order wrong, the table was not clean when we got here. Its a lot of little things that add up to a mediocre 2 star service.
Cafe Ole seems to thrive purely on its prime location along the bustling San Antonio River Walk, where foot traffic is guaranteed on any nice day. Unfortunately, that's about the only thing it has going for it—I'd recommend dozens of other Mexican restaurants in the area before suggesting this one to anyone. We started with margaritas, which were just okay—nothing memorable or worth the hype. The complimentary chips arrived stale, setting a disappointing tone right away. For our entrees, I went with the smoked brisket tacos, and I have to say, it was the driest brisket I've ever encountered in my life. In Texas, of all places, that's inexcusable; brisket should be a point of pride, not a letdown. Service was equally underwhelming. Our server took forever to even take our initial orders, and when drinks finally started arriving, they came out one at a time—with the kids' drinks served dead last. My wife ordered a beer, which showed up in a room-temperature can alongside a chilled glass; the server called it the "kitchen's compromise." We sent it right back. Then the food rollout was the same story: plates trickled out one by one, again with the kids' meals landing last. Most family-friendly spots prioritize getting kids' food out first to keep everyone settled, but not here. Needless to say, I strongly advise skipping Cafe Ole and heading to a different spot on the River Walk or elsewhere in San Antonio. There are far better options for authentic Mexican fare and decent service.
Came to San Antonio for a conference. We walked along the Riverwalk and decided to stop here. Everyone is friendly and service is fast. They have outdoor seating, Mariachi, and a photographer. The homemade chips were too thick for my liking and very hard. The Enchilada Verde was decent. Its a very casual place but on the Riverwalk which is an amazing view.

Old BAD food. Was not fresh at all. Frozen margarita was liquid. Got seared by the door that people were coming in and out so the draft was unbearable. No crayons or anything for children.
Worst experience ever. Waiter totally was bad. Did not know menu, could not bring drinks. Floor was not clean and very slippery. No wonder this place dis nit have a wait. Pass on this place.
From very basic food (salads were worse than Salad and Go), to horrendous service (rude, unaccommodating), to way over priced food, this was a big mistake. Avoid it. Go to taco Bell instead!
I looked at reviews and a 3.5 is generous. Although, I will typically not consider anything less than a 4, my husband liked the atmosphere so I gave in. The jalapeño poppers seemed like they we…
In a party of 7 at first the Hostess sat us way inside the back corner which was congested, so we ask if there was other seating. Guess what, there was and in a open area next to the Riverwalk. I thought okay we are starting off good...and then we got a waitress who was one of the worst waitress I ever encountered. We didn't get chips and salsa and our drinks until after 30 minutes of being there. The waitress at many times was spotted across from our table flirting (PDA) with a customer. The waitress got 3 of our drinks wrong and it was just beer! After, we complained to one of the managers Lee, he made an excuse for her saying she was just a bartender. My mind was blown because she got our drinks wrong. Anyways, we found out by our new waitress that the bartender gave her ticket to now our new waitress. From there, things were better, the food finally came it was hot and okay but that first waitress ruined it. Lee the manager did compensate us for the terrible experience after we had to complain several times. I love Mexican food and thought this place would be good, especially being on the Riverwalk, boy I was wrong. The rating explains everything, and I should've known better. The thing is that someone envited my wife and to come for their military retirement, because otherwise no bueno. I suggest check the reviews and ratings before you go out somewhere. Needless to say we will NEVER GO HERE AGAIN!!!!👎👎👎👎The pictures you will see is some of the food we ordered. The salsa is hot, so if you don't like hot don't bother. The blue shirt you see is a bean stain that a waitress spilled on me while putting one of the plates on the table. The picture of the silverware was what I opened up, terrible!!
With a great location on the Riverwalk, not so great prices. Our server was overwhelmed with the section they had, we waited a while to meet her, chips were brought out, but the waters took entirely too long. We ordered the guacamole and chili con queso plus 2 drinks. After tip was over $80. The queso was lumpy and not good, the guacamole was underwhelming. definitely disappointed with the pricing.
Passed by with a group on a work trip. Steak was like chewing on rubber. Service was pretty slow, only saw our server when she came to take our order, drop off our food, and maybe catch her as she passed by other tables, so good luck if you need anything.
We ordered beef fajitas, the meat, beans and rice were all cold. We wanted to pay for our drinks and leave the manager asked for a second chance it was given. The food came out hot but no tortilla for the fajitas lol. Then manager said she gave us a discount for our trouble. Well $78 dollars for fajitas with only four tortillas we had one drink?? I think they forgot to give us the discount. I don’t normally do this but for the price I truly expected better.
Hi! I don't like submitting negative reviews but the food at this restaurant was horrible. The server (sweet young lady with red hair) was very friendly, attentive, and kind. Needless say, we will not be back. This place has a great location but that's about it.
Hostess that took us to our table was very rude when we asked if we could sit outside. Was a solid 20 mins after sitting down before a waitress came to take our drink order, then never brought our drinks or queso back. Had to ask 3 different waitress if we could get some drinks. Finally got to order. We ordered the fajitas for 2. When they brought us our food they brought 2 fajita tacos. I explained we ordered the fajitas first 2. The really nice guy that brought us our food said he would get our waitress. 25 mins later show showed up and said I just put in your order for the fajitas. She brings them out 15 mins later and we said no thanks we ate then2 tacos we are done. She says. I will bag them up and then comp them and you can take it with you. We said ok. Then the mangers comes out says we have to pay full price for them if we take them because they made them. I explained we got 2 tacos instead of the fajitas for 2 and have been here well over an hour. She says well if you want these you have to pay for them. I told her incident want them and they needed to take the queso we never got off our ticket to. The manager is very rude and service is very terrible. Do not recommend.
Food is horrible. 1. Ordered Guacamole for appetizer but got mostly lettuce with half a scoop of guac. 2. The 60oz margarita tasted like bottled premix. 3. The enchiladas were sweet, rice overcooked and tasted out of the box. Almost everyone's plate had a lot of food left on it, and a few of my guest said they were disgusted with the food. Atmosphere is okay (it's the Riverwalk), but the service was meh and the food should be a negative number. STAY AWAY, DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
The food was microwaved and not fresh tasty or authentic. Might as well have had Taco Bell. If you wanted to run a franchise you should have bought a Taco Bell. Do better. I spent over $100 for dinner for a family of three and I’m fine doing that as long as it’s worth it.
