As soon as I walked outside my wife said: “Mmmm good food”—No doubts, delicious and plenty. Thanks Diana
Have eaten here many times over the years. The breakfast tacos are good size for the great price. The lunch specials that come with tea are awesome for the size and price. Homemade tortillas and complimentary sopapillas at the end. The food is always hot and good. Love it. My favorite is the Mexican plate.
Lifelong San Antonian so I remember when every Mexican restaurant was good. Not the case so much anymore. This place is the exception. I was greeted by a wonderful cashier. The food was good and the tacos were stuffed. The extra pilon of a donut like sopapilla told me that they're not pinching pennies at the expense of the customer. Hidden gem.
The papa a la Mexicana and bean and cheese tacos was fresh and delicious. The chumpurado is also excellent and reasonable price.
Not from the side of town and was looking for something to eat. Missed the turn and into McDonald’s so ended up at El taco de Jalisco ordered an Asada taco with lettuce and tomato. The lady taking the orders was extremely nice. The taco was hot and delicious the tortilla with homemade And I opened my bag to a sopapilla! They give you a free one with every order. Everything was amazing. Literally will be driving across town to come back!
Favorite place for breakfast tacos and Sunday breakfast/lunch! We’ve never had a bad experience here. From food to service to cleanliness. All top tier!
Great place for authentic Mexican food. The tortillas are fresh and I added bacon to my potato and egg. They also give you a complementary sopapilla(pastry). Delicious. May 23 2025 I have been coming here since that previous post. The potatoes in my potato and egg taco have continually increased in size. When you get a mouthful of potato it tends to be very dry. The flavor and the size of the taco are great. The ratio of potato to a egg is not so great. Please cut them smaller.
I always pass this place heading towards 410 on Vance Jackson and one early morning I decided to make a stop. The drive thru was + since I was on my way out. I ordered a huevos rancheros plate. Apparently any plate comes with a free drink(for a dollar more I upgraded to a large limonada). Usually when ordering a huevos rancheros plate, it does not come with bacon, and this plate did. Not only that, I also received a free Sopapilla as well as homemade flour tortillas. The drive thru didn't take long and the worker was very nice and charismatic. I will for sure be back.
What a wonderful restaurant to now get my tacos, menudo and more from! They have so many breakfast, lunch and dinner specials, it's almost crazy that I should post this 😆 Handmade corn and flour tortillas... yummy! Now if you go through the drive-through you might experience a little bit of wait but... they really get the food out fast!
New hidden treasure found! Today was my first time here and I couldn't be happier to find another tasty taco place. Massive tortas! Friendly staff Clean seating area Red salsa is served warm like Pappasitos. Horchata was very tasty. And it looks like we got a free order of sopapillas with our lunch. Can't complain
Skip Taco Cabana and find little, family-run gems like this place! Some might affectionately call this a hole-in-the-wall, but that would do disservice to the effort that the owner clearly puts into fresh cut flowers, plants, and other decor. The staff was all super friendly and my iced tea never got below 3/4 full. The Crispy Taco plate was very good and just what I needed. The homemade salsas and chips/shells were excellent. The owner guilted me into a free sopapilla - also very good. All under $10. Can't beat that.
Breakfast tacos are delicious. Bean and chorizo on flour tortilla is a must. It tastes like a grandma home cooked meal. Would recommend 10 out of 10. Attentive server. Sopapillas are also a must!
Flavor: B Service: A Tea: A Solo dining: A I got the Mexican Plate and - while all good - the crispy beef taco was my favorite part. I know you might be wondering what could make a simple taco so good and I have no idea - but I’ll be back just for the tacos. The enchiladas were pretty greasy and not saucy enough for my taste. The sopapillas were also delicious.
Chilaquiles plate looks good but taste bad i think they're cooking with old oil my stomach was bad potatos too much greasy my friend order nuevos rancheros and same thing not good.
5 Tacos for 20 dollars and the guisada had no flavor what so ever just soggy meat, the bean and cheese also had no flavor and the papa chorizo the papas were undercooked
Las Palapas nachos have been spoiling me with how clean the plate is. I've haven't enjoyed messy nachos for a while until today. As you can see in the pictures, there was a lot of cheese, the chicken tasted fresh and juicy. There wasn't too much or little of any ingredient, and every chip had ingredients. Yall hit it out of the park for me at lunch today. Plus, the free sopapilla :) Thank you. I look forward to returning when I'm in the area again. 9/10/23, another great visit :) 11\4\23 i ordered chicken Fajita Nachos and was given beef and a free barbacoa taco ? The chips were a bit stale, and trying the taco out of curiosity, it tasted like watered-down meat. No salt or pepper, even just wet meat. I went out of my way to eat here and was kinda bummed. I guess restaurants have good days and bad days, too. 4/17/24 Ordered chicken fajita nachos and was so saddened by what I was given. The chips were soggy and stale, the meat tasted bland, nothing tasted fresh :( the sopapilla even didn't taste fresh. I'm sorry, but I had to change my rating as over my recent visits, it only seems to be worse than the last.
The lady at the window is very rude. Please do not place someone in front of customers if they are not willing to answers questions about the menu. Will not be going here again
I had previously left a glowing review which I will leave below but I have to amend my overall review based on new information. I just picked up my order from the drive thru- the same order I place each week for 12 bean & cheese tacos. Today I asked for two bags of 6 each. Well, when I went to drop off the tacos to my daughter her bag didn't have six. I checked the second bag & it did have 6 tacos so I gave her that one & called the restaurant to let them know there had been a mistake and I was missing 2 tacos. This would have been totally fine & I would have been happy to stop by and pick up the other 2. I explained what happened to the person who answered the phone, they placed me on hold & another person picked up & I explained again- then this person put me on hold & a third person picked up. I was asked to explain again & she said she was the woman from the drive thru & she remembered my order. She then went through an elaborate explanation of how she remembered exactly putting the tacos in the bag. Basically a long way of telling me I was lying. Well- I am sitting here with a bag of 4 tacos & not 6. So I told her when I opened the bag there were only 4 tacos. She went over her memory of packing the bag and additional two times (again basically telling me I am lying) which to me is the height of rudeness. I understand that people do lie and take advantage of business owners & I even understand that this is a small business that can't afford to be giving things out for free. But I paid for my order & I tipped in the drive thru in cash. In fact I tip when I go through there every single week & this is the first time I have had an issue. Which would be great right? What a solid record of getting the orders correct- except treating a customer so badly when they did in fact get the order wrong has forever tinted how I will view this place. To me how you behave when you get something wrong speaks louder than when things are going well. So no I no longer recommend this restaurant. They will not treat you with the respect you deserve if they make a mistake. Previous review left below We have stopped here many times to pick up breakfast but today was the first day we stopped in to sit down for lunch. The service was excellent and the restaurant was beautiful. The food is always good. If you want a small independent restaurant- this one is a great place to stop!
