By far the best barbecue and soups I have had in San Antonio!! Unfortunately I experienced awful customer service this morning around 11 am I called in for pick up and the cashier rang me up. My order was visibly ready but she proceeded to ignore me while taking an order over the phone. I politely asked the gentlemen to please hand me my order and she said "I could have waited?" and "I should teach her how to do her job if I didn't like it?"
Small restaurant probly lile 12 tables max we didnt have to wait but soon line bagan forming but worth the wait. The chicharones were to die for yum and menudo was good as well def going back!!!
Food was excellent and the waitresses made sure we had everything we needed. The Chicharon was so good. Definitely recommend .
Amazing chicharrones!!! The waitress super nice!! We told her that we went on our break lunch if she could help us to get our food on time, she did, we had the opportunity to enjoy our meal!! And it was delicious!! Thanks Losoya!!
Everything about this little hidden gem in the Embassy area is great, but the Chicharrón Norteño is by far the star of the show — unbelievably good! You can enjoy it in tacos, gorditas, burritos, or even on its own in a molcajete with guacamole or salsa verde. The staff is super friendly, and the whole place just feels warm and homey. Definitely worth a visit!
The food was ready very quickly, and yet it was so good. I had the breakfast burrito, and I thought it wouldn’t be enough for me since I usually eat a lot — I was wrong. It’s extremely filling and worth every cent. The food is cheap, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad, on the contrary, it’s actually very good. Highly recommend going in the morning for their breakfast menu.
I stopped by this spot recently and ordered the chilaquiles—absolutely delicious! The chips were perfectly crispy, even under all that rich, flavorful salsa. I went with the green sauce, which had just the right amount of heat, and the crema and queso fresco on top brought it all together. The eggs were cooked perfectly (I got mine over easy), and the portion size was generous without being overwhelming. Service was quick and friendly, and the vibe of the restaurant was cozy and welcoming. Definitely a place I’d come back to for a solid breakfast or brunch. If you’re a chilaquiles fan, this place is worth checking out.
Pretty soggy chorizo/ egg taco. Soaked in grease. That's normally from using a cheap brand of chorizo. Won't try that again. Menudo, ok but had a strange flavor. Chicharon with avocado was awesome. That. I will try again. Tortillas, corn and flour were awesome.
The food was so good! The tortillas both corn and flour were homemade! The chicharrone with guacamole was freaking amazing that we ordered a second one! Definitely going back.
We had the enchiladas verdes, and the tortillas were hard and chicken was dry. We ordered the gorditas and they were ok. The beans did not taste "homemade". The only good thing we ate was the chicharrones en molcajete. If we decide to go back, it would be for the chicharrones only. Staff was nice and attentive. Food came out quick.
Salsa was good but the chips were a little hard. I had the fajita quesadilla and it basically just a cheese and meat taco cut in half. Little too floppy and unwieldy for me. Ended up eating it with a fork. Guac was good but beans were boring. Tea was good and they had no problem giving us to go cups.
Service was fast and friendly but food was just ok. Like someone previously said about the tortillas, they get tough as soon as they get cold. Too many Tex Mex and Mex Mex restaurants in San Antonio to be just average. It was my second time there and service is consistently good.
The mini tacos were ok. No flavor. The chicharron was good. The service was VERY mediocre! We waited an hour for our food to come out. When we ask what was the delay? The waitress had an attitude! This is our first time here and the last! I understand this place is not FAST FOOD but, waiting one hour for food at a restaurant that wasn’t even packed, it’s too much!
The food had NO flavor. None. My spoin was dry crusted into the beans they served me which smelled and looked old. The torta meat (asada) was flavorless and so chewy yet hard that I couldn't eat it. Even our 7 year old asked what was wrong with the beans and if they were "real" when she received her bean and cheese taco. Service was great but the food ... if I could give negative stars I would!
I had an appointment in the area and wanted to try a different restaurant, but since it was closed, I went to the first open place nearby. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a big mistake. Outside, there was a sign advertising a special — something like 3 different tacos for $7.50. When I asked about it inside, I was told I couldn’t order that as advertised. Instead, I could only order mini tacos and wasn’t allowed to mix and match. That was already disappointing. I ordered tacos al pastor and menudo for dine-in, plus six crispy tacos to go. The menudo arrived first, and before I even tasted it, I noticed a very bad smell. Menudo has always been my comfort soup and I usually love it, but this one was awful. I tried one spoonful and couldn’t swallow it. I even tried a small piece of tripe, but it tasted just as bad. The smell was extremely unpleasant. I called the waitress and explained that I couldn’t eat it because it smelled very bad. She told me she couldn’t remove it from the bill and that I would still have to pay for it. The restaurant was full, and I didn’t want to cause a scene, so I just said okay. Then the tacos al pastor arrived. They were very greasy and I wasn’t given any salsa. I had to use the salsa from the tortilla chips. At that point, I just wanted to leave. I ate quickly and waited for the tacos to go. When they came I paid my bill, but made sure not to leave tip for the waiter. When I got home and opened the to-go tacos, they were unbelievably greasy. I’ve never seen tacos like that. It honestly looked like they had been fried or baked with excessive oil — the cheese was overly melted and everything was oily. My family tried them and shortly after felt nauseous and uncomfortable. I didn’t think it was the tacos at first, but about 30 minutes after eating one myself, I felt the same nausea and stomach discomfort. Overall, it was a very bad experience. I had to pay for food I couldn’t eat due to poor quality, and the rest made us feel sick. I think this place is known for their chicharrón, but after this experience, I won’t be going back to find out. This was definitely my first and last visit.
For my experience. The menudo was just thrown together and not really cared for. Very gamey and greasy. Barbacoa burrito with lettuce, tomato, guacamole, and sour cream!!?? Barbacoa burrito is onions, cilantro only. Just my experience and I can’t speak for anything else on the menu.
This is a very small restaurant. They do not have many tables open for dining. Not suitable for more than 4 people, it is tight in here. There is no seating available while you're waiting either to dine in, or for take out. If you do come in & add your name to the waiting list, don't expect for them to go out of their way to call your name, if you are not inside ( which is nearly impossible ) they will skip you, and call whoever is next. The wait staff also perform other duties, so don't expect prompt service. They are chaotic, and don't have any sense of efficiency at all. Lastly, the "chicharrones" were a complete waste of money for me, bland taste, and when you buy to take home don't expect any condiments to be in your order. No tortillas, no salsa, no napkins, nothing more than overpriced "chicharrones", which sadly weren't what I know they should be. I will not be returning, ever.
