The tables on the outside patio, allow you to see all the way down to the ocean, which was a beautiful backdrop along with their fire pit to enjoy our dinner. Management was super friendly and attentive, lighting our heat lamp as soon as I was sat. The fish and chips and the barbecue chicken flatbread were both outstanding as was the service. Best piece of haddock I’ve had in a long time, Cooked perfectly. The wine list was a little thin, but it’s an ale house so that was understandable. Overall, it was a great experience will definitely be back.
We’ve been coming to P.B. AleHouse for a long time… In fact, so long that we were literally coming before it opened. Our family has been staying at The Beach Cottages during the holidays for the past 30 years. Our tradition calls for a dinner out the night before Christmas Eve, since we cook in-house the next two nights. Before the P.B. AleHouse, it was the Terrific Pacific. AMBIANCE: This place definitely has sports bar vibes, but more classy than divey. They rep flags prominently for both the Denver Broncos and the Iowa Hawkeyes, in addition to the Padres and more. Once inside, there is a bar area with seats, as well as high-boy style tables. If you turn left, you’ll get to the main dining room where you’ll find booths against the wall and plenty of additional tables for seating. One thing there isn’t a shortage of, is TVs. There are screens everywhere, showing both local and national sports. They even have subscriptions to stuff like NBA League Pass, where they'll show multiple games on one screen. There’s also an upstairs rooftop patio area, with an additional bar, heaters, and more screens. This is a great place to be during the sunset, or at night if it’s not TOO cold. DRINKS: One of the strengths here for sure. If you’re a beer fan, you’re in luck. They brew their own beer, and feature options like a sour wheat ale, blonde, red ale, Japanese lager, American stout, West Coast IPA, as well as other rotating taps. They love to show off the kegs of home brew in the back near the restrooms. If you’re not feeling adventurous and want to stick to something you know, they also have options like Bud Light, Big Wave, Stella, Angry Orchard, and some stuff from Lagunitas and Firestone Walker on draft. A couple bottled/can options like Corona, Pacifico, Nutrl, Bucha, Truly, Surfside, and Suncruiser. For the drafts, they have multiple sizes available, allowing you to get a traditional pint, or more! If beer isn’t your thing, they have white, red, and sparkling wine. There are also 9 craft cocktails ($17/ea), most of which we have tried. Some of our favorite cocktails include: Strawberry Fields, Basic Beach, Resting Gin Face, Just Mai Type, and the Prickly In Pink Mule. Of course they have non-alcoholic options (soda, sparkling water, coffee, tea, and even some NA beers). FOOD: They open at 11am on weekdays, and 10am on weekends, which means… BRUNCH! This goes until 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. The menu includes both breakfast and lunch options (breakfast burrito, chilaquiles, biscuits & gravy, avocado toast, French toast, plus flatbreads, burgers, tacos, and more). If that wasn’t enough, they also have some additional brunch cocktails (Bloody Mary, a breakfast shot with bacon, and something called Tickled Pink, which has champagne with pink glitter). Pretty much every time we come, it’s for dinner. The dinner menu is solid, and decently eclectic for a sports bar. They have some standard starters like chicken wings, fried calamari, with some more fun options like ahi tuna nachos, fried pickles, and a jumbo Bavarian pretzel. Salad options include a chicken Cobb, and a classic Caesar (with the option to add a protein for an additional charge). Moving on, they have 3 flatbreads to choose from. For the main dishes, they have items like burgers, sandwiches, mac & cheese, fish tacos, fish & chips, salmon, and short ribs. They also have a Happy Hour, which is Monday - Friday from 2pm - 5pm. OVERALL: We continually have great experiences when coming to P.B. AleHouse. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating to our groups over the years. Long gone are the days where we used to roll 30+ people deep and take over most of the downstairs dining room. These days we average under 10 people, though it’s still a place we look forward to coming to when we visit Pacific Beach every year. Shout out to all of the hardworking and awesome staff, both front and back-of-house. I definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area! IG: @bbnem.eats
Based on my experience here I was pleasantly surprised with how good the pizza, pretzel and sweet potato’s were and let’s not forget the cocktails! If you are looking to grab some food or just want a nice cold drink look no further! Unfortunately I had already started eating before I could take a picture of the food!
Amazing staff and great beer! First, their beer is great. Second, we asked for a modification to one of their flatbreads due to the dietary restrictions of one of our party, but unfortunately they didn’t have the necessary ingredients. However, Maris, our incredible and undeterred bartender, figured out a way to make it work and it tasted even better! 10/10! No notes. Thank you, Maris!
Grew up coming to Pacific and Mission beach area but somehow had never been here! Stopped on our way to the airbnb check in and took advantage of their happy hour. We did a pizza flatbread and fried pickles which are sticks not coins, plus a couple drinks. The rooftop patio is the best places to sit, partial view of city and ocean and lots of umbrellas for the summer heat. Service was quick and attentive. We will be adding this to our repertoire of restaurants when we visit!
I’m not even sure what the dish I ordered was—I couldn’t find it on the menu—but wow, it was absolutely delicious and had a really unique flavored tuna. Totally unexpected and so good. Also, shoutout to our waiter, who looked like Conor McGregor—he was fantastic. Great service and great food. Five stars.
First time. New years eve afternoon. We chose a patio with heaters. Our server April was fantastic. From first meeting her to our departure was a very enjoyable experience. We ordered near the end of happy hour. Several choices were available for almost half off the regular price. My flatbread was excellent, a great blend of flavors. My chicken buffalo was great. My wife ordered the mahi tacos. 2 stuffed tacos with creamy sweet corn in a bowl. A friend had the giant pretzel, big! Service exceeded the food, ( barley ). I would come back.
We stopped in here for a drink during our visit in San Diego. We sat on the upper level. We were seated and ordered a few drinks and appetizer. The staff was very friendly and attentive. It was during happy hour and the prices were very reasonable. We ordered the Fried Pickles, which were very delicious and the portions were very generous. We also ordered draft beers which was very refreshing after a long walk along the boardwalk.
Good and fair priced kids menu including drawing stuff. We had burgers - BBQ and Classic - with fries. Tasted really nice, NOT soaked in fat. Perfectly cooked to the desired state! As starter we had fried pickles - what a positive surprise😋 Watching the sunset from the roof top was nice and the heaters kept the family warm once sun was gone. We paid 35$ in average for 2adults+3kids.
My group of 5 had a great experience here. It was mid day/late lunch. Tons of food and drinks options. Everything everyone ordered was delicious 😋. The drinks we had were so good too I highly recommend the pear margarita it was perfectly balanced. Our waitress did a fantastic job tending to us.

We ate here after a day exploring San Diego. Just what we needed, great homely food and good vibes. We sat outside on the decking which has a really cool fire too. Recommended!
Went there for an early dinner and sat outside which is busy but fun people watching. Meal was good…huge portions. Had to wait abit for the waitress from beginning to end.

Great rooftop bar with a wonderful view of the beach. Lots of good beer options!
We didn't eat here just stopped for a quick drink. Seems like a nice place but our waitress was forgetful and inefficient. The one beer I had was very tasty.
Their $15 Monday meal deal for a Burger and a beer is hard to beat. Especially with ocean wave views. Don’t expect the burger to be much more than calories tho. It Tastes… exactly like you’d expect a restaurant burger to taste. Don’t be discouraged tho, the included beer of your choice and the ocean side atmosphere makes it all worth it. Absolutely worth a casual Monday stop.
Classic beachside restaurant with good bar food and vibes. Great for groups as well! They are opened late which was good for my group of friends that were traveling into town. They also have a second level deck which gives some nice views and they have a fire when it’s colder. I ended up getting some truffle fries and a burger and both hit the spot. Simple and cooked well. The service was friendly and also gave us some good recommendations in the area.
The hamburger is huge and the fries crispy. The burger arrived cooked as ordered. The Long Island Iced Teas were weak. I would not order a mixed drink from here again but would order a beer or wine. The mahi mahi fish tacos were very good. Love the view. The tables are very close together, it was hard to squeeze into our seats.
The beer burger was great. I substituted French fries for sweet potatoes. My friend got the steak and she said it was good. The service was ok, the bar was full because it was St. Patrick’s day so I am considering that, but we don’t appreciate when they bring the bill when you didn’t even ask for and you are still eating. I liked the ambience, the songs…it’s a bar so it’s loud.
good burger and great service. Our server was super friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back when we are in the area again.

Went there during a short visit to SD. We ordered some beers and appetizers. Service, our server was not as attentive, we sat on the rooftop and it was busy, but not full. Beer took about 15 minutes to arrive and were not as cold, no water though requested. She was cleaning the bar so might have been overworked, around golden hours on a Friday! Food: we ordered flat bread, calamari and truffle fries, the later was the best. The calamari was overcooked and rubbery as tires .. the flatbread was overcooked and dry ... and each item was no less than $15 (the fries). Overall, It's a cool place .. but wouldn't go back again!

Nice view of the TV on the patio at shore club sat 30 mins no service or water waitress must of gotten confused or something it's kinda disturbing to drink your Starbucks water in a bar on the third level dining & drinking area..... Was pursued by a violent armed person on roller blades that had a knife, mace plus stun gun. Desperately eager to continue causing a disturbance and enter a bar to not order or drink but cause conflict. BeachLifeStyle includes not wearing sandals I was out enjoying myself skateboarding previous to going to ale house to not entertain stupidity with ignorance! After over thirty minutes no water or menu was presented or offered. Bar tender was polite and informed that I was trying to avoid someone being negative and harmful. Black guy on rollerblades dread lock style but not a rasta by any means he this person with nickname Music whispers to the server a few things and statements etc. I asked her name she then acted surprised due to me saying im asking only due to SDPD detective will be questioning you on the what was said by the person following me and that has already been changed with assault and bullying plus serial harassment. Hope you enjoy Police at the bar revealing g he truth of the matter and expose false accusations and statements by two clowns acting tuff and being rude as Im at the ale house waiting on a unit to show up to arrest the guy who is disturbing me and the public. Don't touch someone in your establishment unless there's something wrong or a true reason. Kimo I had no shoes on the whole time upstairs why was it an issue on the ground level patio explain that to SDPD guy with glasses being rude and disrespectful you will be charged with harassment and assault. #SRH #9209er James G
The service was non existent. We had to ask 3 different people for our drinks, refills, napkins, forks, ketchup for the kids French fries...and so on, they seemed annoyed we needed the items and most of the time who we asked would not return with the items before asking another. Also the food was old cold and un appetizing. The hamburger buns were stail and dry the burger oily and cold, the added sweet potato fries were cold and soggy when delivered. The waitress spent most of the night hanging out with the bar tender and not attending her tables. I have had better food service and hospitality at a vending machine in a vacant parking garage. The atmosphere and views were great, however the food and service needs a major overhaul. I would recommend saving your hard earned money.
