Small family owned business. Incredible food made with love! It was my first time here will definitely be back for the BBQ pork with garlic rice. Simply delicious!

Great lunch spot in the area! Love the pork Sisig and Lechon. My two favorite combos! Sisig usually goes quick so next favorite item would be chicken curry. When I'm in the area and in the mood for Filipino food, this is my go to place.

I'm not really an expert on filipino food, so maybe this is not an accurate review, but I thought it was so good. The prices are good, there's a lot of outdoor seats, and the flavor on the bbq pork and bbq beef were really nice.

Best place in Mira Mesa for Filipino food. Fantastic food and great value. I substitute rice for vegetables for a dollar. Try every entree as they are all tasty.

The staff is always friendly. If it's your first time, I recommend asking the server to recommend your meal if you can't decide. Everything they serve is delicious and authentic. I drive almost an hour just to eat here!

Filipino bbq place that is fast and super delicious! Decent prices for lunch

This is such a neat place with really good food. Service is also really fast and you can be in n out within minutes (if the crowd hasn't gotten there just yet). Portions are pretty big but it won't break your wallet which is a huge plus.

Best place to grab a quick bite on the Mira Mesa food court. A good quick lunch for $6. Bbq chicken or pork is grilled over mesquite with really good flavor. Try some of the Philippino side for something different. Ask for the soup (it comes with the meal)

Absolutely love this place. Been coming here since it was Tem’s. Rotating menu, but bbq chicken and pork is always on. Sauce is awesome. Get there early for the best selection.

Have eaten here about a dozen times. Usually get the pork barbecue or beef stew with rice or vegetables. Seriously delicious. Very fast and efficient service.

Pork BBQ is delicious as well as the pork sisig. Sometimes they substitute chicken in the sisig but I always find it pretty dry and not as flavorful as the pork version.

Edit: Feb 2026 I have been going here almost every week since Aug 2025 Today (December 2025) I confirmed what has been said about the gentleman who puts more food in the togo box. 😅 I was there for lunch today and after he got the box to pay, He took the box and checked how much add on was there, and he topped it off. Again, I am surprised to see how many people go here for lunch. Good portions, cheap, tasty and clean. Original review: This place is a favorite of many customers and businesses near by. Good food Good service Vending machine Limited seating inside Plenty of seats outside with shade umbrellas. Prices have gone just a little up. But its still cheaper than anything nowadays. 2 toppings for 15$ is a very good deal. 1 topping on rice or noodles is a couple of bucks less.

What an appropriate name for this place because it really is like coming home to Nanay’s (Mom’s) home cooking. Authentic Filipino BBQ flavor along with other menu items but do come early for more selection. Price is right, under $10 bucks for large servings. Excellent lunch spot, highly recommend!

A small eatery with a big taste. Looking for a real filipino bbq taste? This is it. Seasoned to perfection and grille with love brings a flavor to remember. My favorite is the bbq pork with rice, pansit and beef stew. Fast service, friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Good eating.

This was my first time trying a Filipino dish and I was blown away its was great! The place was packed and had a line wrapped around the building. Good food an a lot of food for the price its definitely a must taste.

Very good, maybe even, possibly the best bbq from nanay. Fairly small/ narrow place and the line can go out the door, but it moves quick. Nice seating out the other exit of the place. Good selection of Filipino food. Thanks nanay.

Tried on my last trip to San Diego, loved the food, specially the BBQ pork. Lot of food for not much money! It is already in my list of best eateries I have visited in my travels. Do they still have the Pacquiao Poster at the entrance?

This is a hole in the wall. Line up and get your food and take it out to the outdoor public seating. They have an eclectic mix of (I want to say) Filipino barbecued pork, barbecue, chicken adobo, curry chicken, spicy chicken, some kind of sausage, fried rice, plain rice, chow mein. The barbecue pork is so expletive delicious! It has a sweet and charred flavor.

Classic and fantastic food with great prices. Remains the benchmark for authentic cuisine. Still enjoyable after all these years. 04.04.24 - again, it always seems to amaze me how all the dishes here taste just like homemade cooking. 12.18.24 - New items seen every now and then. Great dishes that bring unique flavors and memories from long ago. The sweet pastry items also are a surprise

I just love Nanays BBQ. The name and ownership has changed throughout the years but their food has stayed the same. They were the first one to introduce me to Filipino barbecue and now I'm hooked. I come here once every 2 weeks to get my Filipino barbecue cravings. The food here is always fresh and delicious. My favorites would be the lechon, longanisa, and all the Filipino barbecue. Whether it's a combo or meet by the pound they always give you generous portions here. The staff here is very nice and love to tell you about the food. I hope to one day try everything on the menu but for now I'm slowly checking everything off the list. This is a takeout spot so either you can take it home or there are tables in the food court. Parking is plentiful but can get busy at times.

Everything was delicious. First time getting food from here, and I will definitely be back. I had the 2 item plate with fried rice. My entrees were bbq pork and the noodles. Flavor was great and you can tell by the charring that the pork was cooked over a fire. The food is served in a clamshell plate and the portions are very decent. There were about 9 or 10 hot entrees to choose from. I feel having labels of the items posted would be helpful as I did not know the names of most of them.

Excellent prices, and excellent flavors! Their extras like their homemade garlic roasted peanuts make this a great place to check out! The portions are quite generous for what you're paying, making them a great lunch spot to frequent.

I don’t know about you, but I never saw my grandma cook skewers/bbq and although I get that this isn’t technically home cooking it’s got its roots in the right place. Yes she cooked about every other dish they sell here, but it’s interesting that as the customer base gets less Filipino the more and more grilled meats they move. It seems as though every time I come here I’m ordering things everyone else is too afraid to ask what it is and when they do I’m glad to tell them quickly as the line is out the door during lunch. I think that’s why they stick with a 2 item, rice/pancit dual BBQ meat plate. Price is very affordable for the amount of food you get as a 2 item should do the trick. The service is hit or miss and if that staff is in a good mood. You are less likely to have a pleasant interaction when it’s busy. I’d say that the next item they are starting to see traction with for the entire demographic is the curry’s, though Filipino cuisine isn’t known for their curry’s it also helps to have an Indian food place nearby so they can sort of grow the local palate together. I find the curry to lack an aromatic rich mouthfeel and be more gravy like. They almost always have Dinuguan, but it’s on the watery side and they overload it with onions (green, white). I prefer mine with more guts than meat, they do not do tripe here. I rarely if ever see kare kare here and the one time I had it, it was good, but the bagoong fell short. They overcook the afritada and the potatoes turn the tomato stew very chunky. The BBQ is pretty good, but I wish they offered some fish items or some veggie items (besides steamed vegetables a la every other rice place every other place). South East Asian food has some killer vegetable dishes that actually don’y even have broccoli or carrots. Protip: Enter through the North entrance, not the food court side because that’s now where the line starts and you’ll have to scoot past a lot of people. I’m always curious as to why they have so much soy sauce when it’s not super prevalent in Filipino cuisine. I also wish they labelled all their dishes and had kare kare more often. They could do a better job of showing off their menu if people could see everything before it’s already on top of them, like the desserts. Parking lot sucks, and most hours of the day too, thought that has no real weight on my rating, just a thought. It’s the closest decent Filipino food to my work.

Mark DiRocco

Solid food, great prices, huge portions, and never a wait. It's one of our go to for good food in a hurry, and the outdoor seating is a big plus on the hectic days where it really helps just seeing the sun.

Their chicken adobo is delicious. I was sad that their pancit wasn’t authentic and instead it was spaghetti noodles, more like chow mein.

Yeah its yummy but the portions can vary depending on who serves you. The owner lady will give decent portions. The worker fellow is stingy. Acts like it's coming out of his pocket. That's why I don't eat there a lot.

The bbq pork was good. The curry chicken not as good. The large $2 chocolate chunk cookie had alot of chocolate chunks, BUT was way too tough/hard; like it's 2+ days old!! I would not eat here again.

I had tried this restaurant for the first time today. I had called over the phone to see if there was any seafood allergens, and I was told no. But when I arrived asked if any of the food contained fish sauce or oyster sauce, then they said mostly all of the options had fish and or oyster sauce. So Ding, Ding, Ding. That means there are seafood allergens. So rather than leaving empty-handed and driving all that way, I had ordered a Dozen Lumpia and they tasted really terrible. I am not even a full Filipino. I am multiracial and my lumpia tastes way better. So if you’re a person with sea food allergies, this isn’t the place you should go to!!!

The pork kinda smells dirty like they use cheap meat. They list prices for # of items but don't tell you some items cost extra and it isn't posted anywhere. I ordered a 3 item and they charge me a $1.50 extra for 1 scrowny rib without telling me. What ah rip-off for a place that sells poor quality meat.

Inflation be hitting everyone. $16 for rice, 3 pcs chicken and half a scoop of pork adobo. Didn’t have enough sauce to mix with the rice. Oof

Beautiful outside patio for this spot, I didn't really like the pink fried rice nor the chicken curry. I'm a little disappointed, I was expecting more from all the positive reviews.
