An iconic hole in the wall pizza place with no real parking available BUT the deep dish Chicago style pizza is worth it! Inside and outside seating available for groups of 2-4 primarily. I had to wait in line to get my pizza to go. I would do it a thousand times though for that amazing pizza. The owners are from Chicago and the pizza is authentic!

The employees working were so so great! The cashier was helpful and nice and the server gave us fresh parm when they ran out of shakers and helped us box our pizza up. The pizza was delicious, 10/10 recommend the chicken artichoke deep dish and the artichoke cheesy bread app. It was really crowded when we went but the employees handled it with ease. I wish there was more/better seating.

Amazing costumer service and with authenticity with food and every detail. Get the Italian beef. But honestly everything is gold!💯

Great little Chicago pizza and street food place. The Italian Beef is very good.

Good food, good people. We went there because someone said they had good pizza. We went back because they have fantastic pizza. We've been going to Lefty's for about 5 years, and the food stays top quality. We've had their salads, all are perfect, sandwiches are amazing and unique. A perfect day is getting food from Lefty's and going to the park for a picnic.

I consider myself a foodie and eat pizza around the clock, quite frankly more than anybody I know. And I’m telling you right now!!…. This pizza is real! I just ate the tastiest slice of pizza I’ve ever had in 40 years of life. Would recommend, subscribed and liked!

If you ask a San Diego chicagoan, they'll all say this is "closest" to the real thing.... I just can say this is best pizza in whole city!!! Very cute and cozy place, service is OK and pricing fair. Can't miss.

Great deep dish slices in a cool little corner location. They make most of the toppings in house daily . The salads aren’t bad and the fries are amazing . Not the best deep dish I’ve ever had but it’s definitely delicious.

First visit. Tried the sausage deep dish and the pepperoni deep dish. Two slices and a soda was only $10! Guy at the register was awesome. Someone was eating the Italian beef sandwich. It looked delicious, definitely trying that next.

R

Wow! What can I say about this joint? The pie was authentic as all get out. That cornmeal crust is hard to replicate. But they nailed it. The cheese stretch almost made me shed a tear. Get the deep dish, you will not be disappointed!

Great Chicago dogs and pizza. Been around for many years. Low key and nothing fancy. Order st the counter and. They bring it to you.

Great Chicago deep dish pizza. Slices ready to go! Wonderful Italian sandwiches as well.

If you're craving authentic Chicago deep dish pizza, Lefty's got you covered. Good luck finding parking though - it's like finding a needle in a haystack with only three spots and the employees snagging them. But hey, the mouthwatering pizza, sandwiches, Vienna hotdogs, and beef sandwiches with peppers are totally worth the struggle.

C

Super yummy. Love the deep dish and loaded fries. They were out of the Al Capone when I visited , but I forgave them. The parking is not bad. You just need to park in the neighborhood behind and take a small walk.

We each got a slice of deep dish and a soda for $10. I loved the vegetarian pizza! We ate outside and enjoyed the evening.

Just go get that sweet, sweet Italian beef and you shall see what I am talking about! It’s not fancy but it’s delicious!

Went in today after my daughter’s Dr appointment and hollly cheeesee this place had the best cheese pull. San Diego seriously doesn’t compare anywhere else pretty good.

Lefty's for my birthday is all I ever need.... Went to Chicago in July to try deep dish pizza and it was good. Having lefty's pizza in San Diego is pretty special... No more Chicago when we have lefty's for sure!!! Thank you for taking care of North Park....

This my kind of pizza joint. It's run by Chicago natives so you know the slices are good, and so are the fries.

I had the Pasta, it was delicious and creamy at the end. I was able to soak it up with the bread around the side of the Pasta Dish.... A must order!! The Al Capone!!! The workers were easy going and my Dinner Date enjoyed the food...

The guy serving us was great. I wanted pepperoni and jalapeños. They didn't have jalapeños but he suggested some peppers they had. Pretty good substitute.

Originally from Chicago didn’t expect to be able to eat Chicago style hotdog with fries and a pizza puff. I was super happy to actually eat this on my birthday! Thank you you lefty‘s for having two locations and “bringing” Chicago here to San Diego

I am glad we found this little hole-in-the-wall gem. Lefty’s has a Chicago flair, and is as unpretentious as it gets. They serve pizza by the slice, loaded fries, sandwiches and salads. A slice of the deep dish was sufficient for a meal, the combo Chicago beef & sausage sandwich was very good and plenty for two. Wait staff was fantastic and gave us some great recommendations for places to try.

BOMB! Quirky little place serving up some delicious pizza and other Chicago style treats. The deep dish pizza is on-point with the perfect crust-to-cheese-to-sauce ratio. The meat balls are tender and just amazing. Service was super helpful and friendly. Such a great little place.

I live overseas, and every day I wake up trying to convince myself I don’t need to book a flight back here just for this pizza. I’m out here halfway across the planet making up excuses like, ‘Maybe I left my spirit in that restaurant… better go retrieve it.’. I am dying to eat the veggie pizza again. This pizza is unbelievable. The crust showed up all warm and puffy like it just came from therapy and finally believed in itself. The sauce tasted like tomatoes that grew up with good role models. The cheese was stretching so far I thought it was trying to give me a hug. I took one bite and immediately felt like I should call my parents and apologize for everything I’ve ever done wrong. That’s how good it was. The staff were friendly too. I like how they knew they were about to change my week with one slice. I respect that kind of confidence. Five stars. If teleportation ever becomes real, this is the first place I’m setting the coordinates for.

Omaigaaaaad this is the best pizza I’ve ever eaten in the US. My sister doesn’t like mushrooms and ended up eating almost half of it in one sitting. I called to place the order and was given the best advice ever. 10/10. Will become regular 💕💕

Kudos to your staff for fixing my order. I guess i chose peperoncino peppers when I thought I was selecting pepperoni for a online order , luckily I caught it before I got in my car and drove home. "Not a problem we'll get you what you your pepperoni pizza and just go ahead abs keep the other one" That's the type of customer service that keeps my business and the pizza was one of the best I've had in San Diego.. pretty dam close to my hometown Chicago pizza 🍕 😋 👌 I'll Def return with friends and family.

So long story short… A dude moves to sunny San Diego in 2023 and then gets a job, and he’s trained by me. Then we become friends and he later decides to buy me deep dish pizza for lunch. We take our lunch break and race over to 30th St to pick this food up. This is my first time ever having deep dish pizza. It was insanely good and more than filling!!

I haven’t been to Lefty’s in forever; it’s still just as good as I remember it. I ordered a farmer’s market deep dish pie and it hit my craving, like a back scratcher gets an itch. It was delicious and extremely filling. A slice would have sufficed, but I was feeling overly confident in my ability to eat. I also ordered their artichoke spinach bread and it was transcendently satisfying. I will be coming back for this bread again and again. Paid $60.80 (with tip) and it was worth every penny. Addendum: just recently had a deep dish pepperoni and it was amazingly delicious! A must try.

Great little pizza restaurant in north park so I was in the neighborhood and decided that I would like a slice of pizza and choose lefty's Chicago pizzeria and glad I did I got a slice of pizza a Chicago pepperoni deep dish slice and it was good crust was crispy lots of cheese pepperoni and sauce just really good and service was great parking is street parking and seems that it could get hard to find I found one a couple blocks down

We got the deep dish pizza and added pepperoni and elephant garlic. While it was a complete banger, I think it would have been better as a plain cheese pizza since the garlic and pepperoni made it incredibly salty. The garlic was very strong, so if you want something a little lighter, maybe pair it with some veg topping. The crust was crispy and had a great flavor. I particularly love how it’s about an inch tall all around the edge of the pizza. Generous layers of cheese and sauce are loaded on, making these some hefty, dense slices of sheer pizza goodness. Highly recommend but can get pretty salty depending on toppings!

DIEING for some good pizza and google sent me here. I needed deep dish. It’s a short wait but oh so worth it. The pizza was packed full of meat and cheesy goodness the sauce is not the normal sauce it is very flavorful. Wow all I could say. And leftovers just made it that much better flavors going deeper and deeper with every bite.

Had a great meal at Lefty's North Park on Sat. Jan 31, 2026. Great service -I didn't get his name, but the guy working the counter was top notch! We had a sausage, thin crust pizza and Chicago Dogs (My Chicago-born hubby couldn't stop raving about them). I am a midwestern girl, and this to me is the absolute best pizza in San Diego! We will definitely be back.

It’s not every day you find a place serving Chicago style deep dish by the slice, even in Chicago. Staff are friendly. Love eating on the porch or taking a slice home. It’s not as thick as something you would find in Chicago, but the slices are bigger so it evens out. Excellent sauce, great ingredients and amazing crust 👨‍🍳👌

Nice outdoor patio. Great service. I wish we had Giordano's in SD... Lefty's is tastier than Rosati's and at a better price. I think you're looking at $25-35 at Lefty's for a pizza and my last pizza at Rosati's was $42-44.

We had a hard time deciding but eventually we settled for "The Legend" with tomato, pepperoni and some other Italian sausages. When we got a pizza, I took a slice and was immediately filled up. We continued eating, but after almost an hour, four people still had not been able to eat the entire pizza. So we got a box, took it home, and ate it a few hours later. And I must admit; it was still REALLY good cold. Recommended!

Had onion rings mozzarella sticks and a wall to wall sausage deep dish pizza. The rings and mozz were hot and crispy and the sauce for the rings was delicious. The pizza was HUGE and definitely filling great pizza! I do need to knock off one star and really I’d rather knock off like a half or less because the crust, to be more authentic, should be buttery and covered with cornmeal. Other than that, definitely one of the if not the best pizza in San Diego.

The food is amazing!! However they should advertise that the waiting time is loonnggg. depending on the pizza you get you have to wait at lest 30mins to 1 hour that's not including the normal wait time for food. Definitely call ahead for your food if your gonna eat there. The pizza was perfectly crunchy and soggy just the right amount of both! 🤤 I would Definitely drive the 6 hours to eat here again!!

They’ve got some yummy food! We spent about 15$ per person and the parking here is HARD to find!!!! There were a few parking spots by the restaurant but only a few… We ended up parking in the Jack in the box and walked to this restaurant 🥲 This place has indoor and outdoor seating but both were tiny, probably 12 people for outdoor and 6 can fit in the indoor seating area. And there was no AC inside so we decided to move to outdoor seating to get some air. This place is well decorated with some cute stickers and pizza decorations. I love the open window that you can see through the kitchen while they make your pizza! We had two slices of the deep dish pizza (pepperoni and sausage flavor), loaded fries and a C.B.G.B. aka the Italian roasted beef sub. The pizza was decent but we were really impressed with the loaded fries and C.B.G.B. The loaded fries were really good! The blue cheese and some fat pieces of bacon 🥓 were the highlights but the size of the fries was a little small. The crispy garlic bread in the C.B.G.B. was my favorite but you gotta eat it fast before it gets soaked in the sauce! The beef was tender and flavorful!! Highly recommend!! The staff was really nice, helpful and friendly! She gave good recommendations as well! We really enjoyed our food there!

We use to go here often before the opening of the Goldfinch location, but only returned recently to the original location. Unfortunately, it feels like an after thought, with the interior less inviting, and the pizza not being as good as more recent visits to the Goldfinch. While parking is relatively easier at this location, a few extra miles and some parking headaches will be rewarded with better food.

Very confused by all the good reviews. Deep dish, cheesy garlic bread, and Caesar salad were all meh. Not worth the price.

R

Ordered a deep dish for $37. Paid dollar extra for ranch and they give me this half filled BS. A whole bottle of hidden valley ranch is like 6 bucks. Pizza filling was meh. Crust was good. Overall was meh experience, overpriced for the quality. Will not be back.

Failed all cathegories, dough cheap, tastless ,terrible, sauce terrible, cheese tastles and very very little cheese for a chicago pizza. Toppings: italian sausage, tastless, italian beef, tastless. Top price just like the good pizzas. I tried 3 pizza places this weeked in San Diego, 2 world champions and Lefty as the worst, very commercial pizza, great waste of money. Where is the cheese? Even if is tastless and cheap ?

C
Christopher Kirkland

Couldn't be more disappointed. The pizza was undercooked despite ordering it well done! What happened to the cheese? I used to order here 20 years ago and it was the bomb! Now it's GARBAGE. I ordered a 1/2 Southsider and a 1/2 farmers market with extra Italian beef on the farmers market side. There was literally 4 small pieces of beef on the whole pizza to put this in perspective for you, the whole large deep dish pizza had under 1/2 a mouthful of beef on the entire pie. The crust is like thick tasteless sandwich bread. Hey guys a deep dish is not supposed to be all bread! What happened to the cheese? I'm actually angry that they would be this careless and cheap. Not the leftys I knew at all. I will never be back. Took a few bites thinking the meat must be hidden in the sauce... Nope, nothing but mushrooms and over 50 bucks. What a joke! I posted a pic that's not meat... it's all mushrooms.

Unfortunately, I didn’t even make it past the customer service stage and never got the chance to try the food. It’s disappointing — especially in times when so many businesses are struggling — to see a missed opportunity to make a sale. Instead, I was met with an attitude that felt unhelpful and dismissive. Customer service and sales training are truly needed. A customer should never be made to feel inferior for asking questions about your products. If someone asks, “What do you recommend?” that’s an opportunity to engage, not to dismiss them. Please work on improving your approach to customer interactions — it makes all the difference.
