Went here for my birthday and was my first time eating Georgian food. Everything felt very home style and tasted good. The service was very friendly. The cheese + egg bread was delicious and a spectacle as they mix it at the table. The salad sampler was a great way to try so many of the salad variations. And the borscht tasted very home made. Great spot to go on a date or bring your entire family or group of 15-20 people.
Been wanting to try this spot out for the longest time since moving into the neighborhood, and wow am I disappointed in myself for not going sooner. Food was better than I expected after hearing raving reviews from friends who have tried this place out. Service was amazing and the food came out swiftly! Definitely coming back
Pomegranate Restaurant in San Diego was a great experience overall! The food was delicious, with rich flavors and well-prepared dishes that truly stood out. I especially enjoyed their shashlik, which was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. The ambiance was also warm and inviting, making it a pleasant place to dine. However, the service could have been better—there were some delays, and the staff wasn’t as attentive as I had hoped. Despite that, the quality of the food and the cozy atmosphere made up for it. I’d still consider coming back for the amazing flavors and unique dining experience!
I visited Pomegranate and had a really unique dining experience. The food was rich and flavorful, especially the dumplings and traditional Georgian dishes. The restaurant has a colorful and cozy atmosphere that makes it stand out from typical spots. It’s a great place in San Diego if you want to try something different.
Great comfort food with very social family style Russo-Georgian cuisine. Hearty, delicious, filling, yet fresh and healthy. The mineral water has like 540mg of sodium per bottle so be careful how many you drink (unless you have low blood pressure or something) Atmosphere got a 4 out of 5 because it just so loud. No fault to the business. If you have people visiting SD, take them here.
I love Georgian food and when I saw there was a restaurant that served Georgian cuisine in SF I was ecstatic. The atmosphere is amazing, the food is delicious and the service is great. Every time we have guests in town we bring them here and it’s so fun to watch them try new foods. ❤️
Pomegranate was a great experience! Everything was packed with flavor. The lamb chops I ordered were packed full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Overall everything was seasoned well and the presenatation was beautiful too. The customer service was also amazing! It was my first time trying this food and I can't wait to come back. If you want something different and are in ther area, please try this restaurant. Highly recommended! Eat up!!!
The staff and the entire team are very kind and welcoming, have never been so welcomed anywhere else, amazing atmosphere and overall experience! This is my second visit, and there’s no doubt it’s the best food in San Diego—and California in general! Everything is homemade and fresh - actually made with love. Many thanks to everyone!
The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, making it really enjoyable to see and taste. The flavors were perfect and truly satisfying. The waiter was very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The restaurant was quite busy, so at times it was a little hard to get the staff’s attention, but that’s completely understandable given how popular the place is.
Continues to be a favorite! Delicious and most importantly - consistent! Can’t go wrong with several dishes but our favorites are the golubtsi (cabbage rolls) and sampler platter which is great for 2 people. Don’t forget to try Georgian wine and beer or the vodka flight. Friendly staff and unique atmosphere.
Pomegranate – A Passport to Authentic Russian & Georgian Cuisine Pomegranate isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a rare gem where true Russian and Georgian flavors come to life without the need for a plane ticket. The borsch is the real deal: rich, hearty, packed with tender beef and vibrant red beets—just like the classic recipe. The pork shashlik? Grilled to perfection, so authentic it took me straight back to when I was grilling it myself at ten years old. And the Georgian khinkali? Juicy, fresh, bursting with flavor, and perfectly paired with their signature sauces made to order. If you’re craving bold, soulful Eastern European food without leaving town, this spot is an absolute must.
I recently dined at Pomegranate and had an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. The herbs used in the dishes were aromatic and you could tell they were straight from the farm. The flavors were fantastic and the price was reasonable for the quality. The only downside was the parking situation, which took some time even on a weekday. It’s also good to note that reservations are recommended. Overall, we had a wonderful time celebrating a friend’s birthday here!
Wow. Just fantastic. Delicious food, excellent service, interesting decor, and lively atmosphere. For a more quiet experience, plan to finish your meal around 6pm. Things really begin to roll by 7pm (Sunday). Simple menu with nice variety and vegetarian options. Remarkably flavorful meals. Parking requires some patience and hunting on nearby streets, but a short walk gives sufficient options. Totally worth it.

Let's start off with how awesome our waiter, Eddie, was. Can't speak higher, he was so helpful in menu selection, funny and knowledgeable. We hadn't tried Russian/Georgian food before and he was helpful in what to order, mindful of our walnut allergies, and how to eat or pair the food authentically. We ordered the Khinkali and Chakapuli. Both were really good, but our favorite was the lamb stew - so flavorful and came with yummy rice. Lemon, mint, tarragon flavors and the lamb was cooked to perfection, fell right off the bone - it was a delicious cozy meal. We also got marani chacha shots, Georgian beer and a pomegranate martini which was so good! (Also made by Eddie) Highly recommend to trying this spot and the cuisine!

environment is cool. Staff were friendly, but she forgot us after a while.\nStroganoff was very good. Bread with cheese and egg, amazing, dessert was good.\nPomegranate wine was bad.
We had to wait a little but all agree this was the best restaurant we visited in San Diego. Open inside with outdoor seating and tons of graffiti on the wall that was fun to read while we waited…
We ordered the food to our home. Borscht was cold when it arrived and it was good but not too good. The pelmeni were good but were also cold and had all stuck to each other. The salad though, it was the plate with all the salads in it, and I’ve never had russian salad that was this bad. It had no taste, even the vegetables didn’t have any taste, they were all so bad that we didn’t even touch them after tasting them. For the price, this was a very bad meal and I would never eat from this place again. If you’re charging so much for food, at least get the proper takeout boxes so the food stays hot and fresh, the plastic containers felt soo cheap.
The food was delicious and authentic. We loved the pierogis, cabbage rolls, lamb shank and the famous cheese bread. Food came out surprisingly fast. Both our pomegranate cocktails were delicious. However, I probably will not be coming back here due to a few reasons: 1. No parking at all, especially on a Saturday night. Drove 25 minutes around the neighborhood only to park 2 miles away. 2. No reservation for less than 5 people. We checked in at 550pm and did not get seated until 7pm. I rather pay a reservation fee for 2 people than wait that long to eat. 3. Bad service - once our server took our orders, never once came back to ask for a second round of drinks and only to bring the check and dessert menu. It’s unfortunate because I really enjoyed the food but the parking and reservation system makes visiting this restaraunt more of a headache than an enjoyment.
The food is great, everything was super tasty. All the staff (except the hostess Elizaveta) is lovely. For some reason, she had an attitude towards me which threw me off. The water had a very chlorinated smell. Otherwise a great place for some Slavic food.
I was craving some of the foods posted by so many who've eaten here that I finally went. Service is really good; the staff is very attentive. The atmosphere is okay, a bit dated. The walls all over the dining room had messages and graffiti scribbled on them from the base of the tables almost to the very high roof. We tried several dishes, some were I believe appetizers. First was the beet salad... it was surprisingly good despite saying it had walnuts (didn't know how they would taste with the beats. The salad was kind of pureed. Next we had pelmeni, a kind of small dumpling filled with chicken and served with a dill yogurt sauce. Very tasty. Next we tried the cachapuri (potato and cheese).served very similar to a 10-12 inch pizza. I was hoping to get the more traditional shape, although I doubt the taste is different. I had never tried it and it was quite tasty. Personal preference would have been if the bottom would have been crisper, tasted a little undercooked. The best part of our meal was the honey cake. They drizzle a pomegranate molasses on top of a scoop of vanilla ice cream that is served with a very generous sized slice of this exceptional dessert. Another comment is we never got a clean plate after we were served the beet salad, suggest they provide clean plates with every dish served. Again, the staff and service were very good, food was tasty but nothing out of this world, other than the cake.
I have been to this place several times over the years, and it has gotten significantly better. I was surprised and glad to see them being busy with a long waiting line outside. The food also got bet…
The stroganoff was great. Enough noodles for a small child, Noodles are cheap. They weren't even egg noodles, they were rotini noodles which are cheap. You could afford to give more noodles. Enough stroganoff for double the noodles provided. The cheese boat with egg, had no egg. I had to make an egg and add it myself. It was undercooked, cheese was barely melted. I don't think it was worth the $53.88 I spent to pick this up. I'm disappointed as before Covid when I dined in at the restaurant it was amazing. No more words. I hope everyone else has a better experience than we did tonight.
