This place offers a great selection of meads, ciders, beers, and food! They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and also dog friendly. The atmosphere is very chill and relaxed, and hip at the same time. A great hangout spot to be with friends and family. The servers, Fatima and Sarah are very friendly. They were so easy to talk to and engage in conversation. They made us feel welcomed. I’ll start with the food first because it was the highlight of my visit! The cost to quality ratio is the best in San Diego for me by far. They offer combo deals called “TV Dinners”, which consist of a choice of meat and two sides, all for only $18.50! My wife and I both had a TV Dinner combo. I had the rib tips with slaw and brisket chili. My wife went with brisket with mac & cheese and bean crack. Both meats were very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Very juicy and tender. I haven’t had smoked meat this good since my visit to Texas last year! All of the sides exceeded my expectations, except the slaw which I thought was just basic. We had two flights of ciders and were able to taste 9 different flavors. All of the flavors were very tasty and crafted very well. Even the experimental ciders were surprisingly very good. This place has now become one of my favorite places to eat. My wife and I agreed to visit at least once a month. If you’re looking for amazing bbq and smoked meats and a great variety of drinks, I highly recommend this place.
The Brisket here is bar far the best BBQ I have had in quite some time. Jeremy really knows what he is doing when it comes to his BBQ. The dirty rice, Mac and cheese and bean crack are on point and are perfect side dishes. Everything I have had here is lip-smacking good. Definitely returning and HIGHLY Recommended!!! P.s. the dirty rice has a little spicy zing to it, but I love it.
Wow! Love this place! There are ciders for everyone’s tastes. The Barbecue is a lovely complement and the staff couldn’t have been nicer.
Came here on a Sunday for lunch because I was craving bbq ribs and corn bread. Found out that it shares a space with a cider place and a mead place. The cider was very interesting, we had a flight of 3. The strawberry black pepper was the best.
Stumbled onto this place via Instagram. I love cider and had no idea that cideries exist, so imagine my suprise an excitement. We finally got to go and it happened to be their 1yr anniversary. The place is fantastic and the cider, spectacular! It's a small quaint cidery that shares space with a meadry and a small kitchen. The cider options are ample and delicious. The atmosphere is beautiful, lots of wood around and they have a small outdoor space that really is relaxing and beautiful. Lots of attention to detail and the staff are super friendly and provided excellent service. They didn't have flights for the anniversary celebration so we created our own flight of sorts. We sampled the following four ciders; smoked pineapple, raspberry blackberry, watermelon and hatch chile, and peach and ginger. With the exception of the smoked pineapple with charcoal, i loved all the other three and would return to have more. My favorite was the watermelon hatch chile. The smell was intoxicating. Excellent place, i highly recommend it.
Its slightly confusing when looking on maps but there are 3 businesses at this location, Smoking Js, Lost cause Meadery and Serpentine Cider. Serpentine cider has an awesome selection of mostly dry ciders. Food is provided by SmokingJs. The cidery has ample indoor and outdoor seating with access to board games. Excellent spot for groups to hang out in. Plently of parking is available as well.
The food and cider at Serpentine Cider & Smokehouse always blow me away! For first timers, I recommend getting the cider flight so you can try a tasting of all their creative and experimental ciders. I love the Guava, Raspberry Blackberry, Sour Cherry and they even had a BUTTERBEER cider they made for a Harry Potter theme night! The food is incredible, they have the best brisket in town and the pork belly is delicious and decadent. The slaw is out of this work, and they have fun menu items like Texas Twinkies and Bean Crack! They also do an amazing smoked jackfruit for vegetarians that they can make into a sandwich or burrito, and their cajon fries are amazing, get with a side of slaw sauce!
Serpentine is always fun and the special events are a real treat. This event (like most) included themed ciders, food, and decor. It was all perfect. My friends and I had such a great time and made new friends throughout the evening. I took home a crowler for future feasting and am already looking forward to my next visit.
Been back several times, and this place has some amazing barbecue and hard cider. Seriously some of the best I’ve ever had! Also, make sure and try the burrito if you’ve already tried their brisket.
Woe the various coders are so good. Tart and crisp, funky flavors (like lemon lavendar, fennel pear, and so much more) this is my favorite place for cider. Great atmosphere too. Indoor/outdoor seating available, food vendors that are vegan-friendly, and great staff who are happy to share their knowledge.
Amazing vegetarian option that makes you think you’re eating meat. The jackfruit!!!! I can’t even believe what I’m eating right now. Mouth watering delicious food. Just pooped in and grabbed this quick to go lunch. Such a hidden 💎
Loved this place! Such a laid back vibe and the cider was amazing. For someone who doesn’t like extra sweet drinks this was perfect.
Great place to catch up with friends while drinking mead and cider. I love that you can easily order BBQ, Lost Cause, and Serpentine along the long bar. Fries were $8 full pour $10

This review is of the private event space. I recently held a private event here with about 85 people. I communicated with Sean throughout the planning process. The space is beautiful and many of my guests commented on how much they enjoyed the drinks and the ambiance. We had quite a few teens in attendance and they migrated to the patio with sodas from the bar and also played air hockey. I brought in a few folding tables and chairs for more outdoor seating around the back. Also hired a taco cart and DJ. I would definitely recommend Serpentine for a private event if you’re looking for a casual, fun vibe! Thank you to Sean, Jasmine, and Ty for their help and hospitality!!!

The cider here is fantastic. It's not too sweet, and the flavors rotate all the time. The owners are great people who love what they do. The food here is so good, and the cidertenders are fun to be around. There's always something out-of-the-ordinary happening here. From holiday parties to themed events, crafts, trivia, even pet adoptions. Come and support San Diego's best local cidery.

This was my first time here. Our experience was perfect. Ryan was working, gave us great recommendations and a run down on the smokehouse, and all the ciders. He was super attentive and accommodating, kind and cool. BBQ and all the sides were fantastic. Best bbq I’ve had in California. Will definitely be back till we’ve tried everything!

Randomly tried this place for lunch and loved it! We tried 8 kinds of cider and they all tasted delicious. The brisket burrito with chimichurri was excellent, pork rib tips were crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside, and my favorite was the Classic (pulled pork with pickles and slaw on brioche). Really solid meal and drinks! The vibe is nice too, ok to bring kids and pets, lots of games to play, TVs to watch, and nice outdoor seating options. Oh, lots of free parking! It's a no-brainer to come back to Serpentine!
A really neat shared space with Lost Cause Meadery and Rollin' Roots. Dog-friendly which we love! Overall the ciders were on the drier end, not very sweet at all. We did a tasting which was a good way to sample the different flavors. Our favorite was the Poached Pear (definitely the sweetest) and there was one with Lavender in it (I can't remember the name but it was quite lovely). They also have really unique flavors like Bloody Mary. I would say if you only like sweet ciders this is probably not the place for you, however you can always go and get mead from Lost Cause Meadery (very sweet) or grab a bite from the delicious Rollin' Roots.

Came here for the BBQ (not the beer) and ordered a few pounds of fatty brisket. Better than average for San Diego, but still dry in spots and not on par with Texas or Carolina standards. The pork belly was the standout: crispy, juicy, and flavorful. Several sides, like coleslaw and mac & cheese, were sold out, which made it hard to get the full experience. Service was great, and the waitress even sent us home with extra rice on the house. Overall, not blown away but better than average, and I would come back while still searching for San Diego’s best BBQ.

I used to love coming here for Rollin Roots, was very disappointed to see it replaced with a BBQ place. The service is great, however, and the cider is particularly good. I didn't like the mead very much.

We went right at noon on a Saturday excited for some lunch because we had enjoyed a previous experience here. This time all of our food came out cold or lukewarm. Mac and cheese - cold. Pulled pork - cold. Bean crack - lukewarm. We requested a refund and left without eating any more than a few cold bites. Now we have to worry about getting food poisoning. Their excuse was the equipment was new in the kitchen. I guess we were the test subjects then. Will not return or recommend this place to friends.

Visited with family. The place was so stinky inside. The only place to avoid it was outside. The staff is very lazy and it took 30 min to get them to wipe the table, and despite this the tables and chairs were sticky. The cider itself is below average. Tasted at least 5 and all were yikes. People were also smoking right outside the barrier. Even though there was sign no smoking staff didn’t care. So its definitely not the place to bring kids. Go hangout somewhere else.
