Aslam’s Rasoi is hands down one of the best Pakistani/ Indian restaurant of all time. The food is INCREDIBLE. The flavors are out of this world, very traditional, and immaculate. A world class chef Aslam and son Assad, run this restaurant and their expertise shows. I dream of the sauce. Butter chicken, prawns korma, saag paneer, lamb madras, goat cheese naan. My mouth is watering as I write this. The menu is expansive. From veggie, chicken, seafood, lamb specialty plates to all types of tandoori they have you covered. I have been coming here for 15 years. The owners here are like family and their dedication to their food, customers and community shows. You can ALWAYS feel the love here, and taste the love in the food. I can’t say enough about Aslam’s Rasoi. This is a MUST GO!
After almost 20 years, this San Francisco staple was on the verge of closing for good but has thankfully managed to keep their doors open so they can keep serving up the tastiest Indian/Pakistani food in the city. Stop by Aslam's Rasoi the next time you're in the mood for a fresh and flavor packed dinner. And don't forget to ask for their new mango lychee drink - it's one of the tastiest new items on their menu.
If you’re craving delicious Indian-Pakistani food, this is the perfect spot! For the ultimate combo, try the Chicken Tikka Masala (you can choose your spice level, 2-3 is just right), paired with Chicken Tandoori and Garlic Naan. A must try place in SF.
Food is great, worth trying! We ordered fish pakora, chicken masala, lamb rogan josh, chicken biryani, and naan. Everything was really good, just on the greasy side, as Indian and Pakistani food is. Don't want to forget service was awesome! Our second visit was great! As usual wonderful service, the food was yummy, Tandoori Platter and samosas were very delicious. We tried Kashmiri Pulao for the first time, and it was loaded with nuts and fruits. It was very mild, and if someone can't handle the spices, it is perfect for them. We are looking forward to trying other items on the menu. We have dined in couple of times and it's always a wonderful experience. Ordered food again from Aslam's, every food item was delicious. We ordered Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, Baingan Bharta, Chicken Biryani, Assorted Naans. They added mint chutney and onion salad to the meal. Order was ready as promised and the packaging was great. This restaurant never disappoints. You just wait outside in the car and they bring the order quickly to you. Thank you Aslam's Rasoi!!
10 out of 5 stars. Seriously. The food is amazing. I ordered the chicken tikka masala this time, and the chicken is so tender, juicy, saucy, and packed with flavor. In love. Sonia is the sweetest server with thee best food recommendations if you don’t know what to order or want to try something new. Every single dish I’ve tried from Aslam’s is on point! Even my 6 year old picky eater nephew gives them a thumbs up. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the mood for quality yum yums.
Yummy Desi Food in SF!! Loved their papadum (ask to put chaat masala to elevate the flavors), damn good chai , mango lassi , pakoras.. also really enjoyed their chili kulcha and paneer tikka korma. Great options for non-vegetarians too . Special mention to the hosts, they are super welcoming and warm!!
Well-made Indian/Pakistani food. Nowadays they know me and actually give me real spicy food. The Chicken Jalfreezi is my go-to, but when I'm with friends or just not feeling like the full body experience, the Navrattan Korma is a favorite (vegetarian, and has cashews and pineapple), as is the Paneer Tikka Korma. I'm a personal believer in no rice, just naan, but your mileage may vary. (I once saw a friend pick up rice with the naan... but he was also ordering his food mild, so nothing about his methods would correspond with my recommendations.) I recommend the pickles (achar pachranga) as well, and the raita. But everything is good, and they're super friendly, and you should give them your money. Quality has never flagged; I love this place and recommend it to everyone I can. Still a devotee after many years. And happy to see the place getting busier on the weekends. They have struggles now with their landlord and the more you can go the better.
Hands down the best biryani in town! All ingredients are very fresh and the taste reflects that. Several vegan options available. Staff is extremely nice and attentive. Family owned business with the chef and owner still spending his day in the kitchen and will welcome you with a smile and a wave all the way from the back when you walk in! A must try place in the mission!
This restaurant went under radar. I don't know why. Maybe the restaurant looks too fancy or too dark. But the food is incredible! The tandoori dish is piping hot. The biryani is on point! The vegatable korma curry is so rich, creamy, with a sweet mellow taste. The saag paneer is solid. The garlic naan is freshly baked and tasty. Even though we order food to the mild level, the food is still flavorful. Another amazing character of the food here is that it is so fresh. You can taste the quality of vegetables and fish being used. Oh I forgot to mention the chickpea tikka masala that the restaurant custom made for us! The staffs are definitely friendly and accommodating. The waitress recommends the korma curry and that is the best addition! Definitely will be back for more!
The chicken tikki masala was so tender, came out piping hot! And the naan was delicious, can't wait to try the menu
This place has the BEST Indian-Pakistani food. Everything we had tastes fresh and we'll make. The owners who work the shop are so lovely. They really make you feel welcomed. The restaurant is big and spacious. And CLEAN! We had the DELICIOUS vegetarian Tikka Masala Fries.... my tummy is sooo full!! Lol. Go check them out.
Food was amazing! Taste was spot on! Clean place! Staff were very nice and friendly! Definitely a great please to check out in the area! Overall very satisfied! Will definitely be visiting again!
An outstanding casual dining experience ! Best Indian cuisine have enjoyed in many years. When one of our party found their dish to be too spicy, they quickly presented a milder replacement. Great, kind and memorable service. We will return. With best regards
If I could give this restaurant more starts I would! The food is absolutely exceptional!!! Not only are the ingredients quality, but the aroma of each dish are mouth watering. I frequently visit Aslam’s Rasoi for lunch and dinner and I have never ordered something that I didn’t like. Every dish is great- from vegetarian to sizzling meat plates, they execute it every time. The service is also outstanding. The servers are outgoing, caring, and so sweet. I love that I can also see what’s going on in the kitchen through the clear windows! Love love love this place!
Authentic family recipes full of delicious spices. Food is always served hot & fresh. II usually order chicken tandoori or lamb. One of my go-to spots in the city. If you can’t find street parking, there is a parking structure around the block.
Why does this place not have a million stars??? The mango lasso, chicken tikki masala, and ANAZING garlic naan… I now have a new favorite Indian place in SF : ) The staff was so cool and welcoming. Very happy to come back!
The best Indian food in SF! Sooo glad they didn’t close. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Even their rice is exquisite. Highly recommend supporting this family-owned business.
I stopped by tonight (12/21/2025) to confirm the worst. A “for lease” sign is in the window, and the familiar “Aslam’s Rasoi” letters have been removed. After over 15 years, I’ve had my last meal there. My whole family is gutted.
I have eaten here for over 10 years, and the quality has remained top notch and delicious every time. Explosions of exotic flavors compliment each thoughtful dish, especially their sizzling tandoori chicken, their unique dum aloo vindaloo, extra spicy, and perhaps the best chicken tikka masala I've ever had. The owners and staff could not be friendlier people, and the eatery is in such a nice spot on Valencia. Also, so much of the menu is naturally gluten free, a big plus for Celiac diners (like me) or gluten intolerant diners! Definitely give them a try!
After 8 years away from the city we returned to Aslam's Rasoi and are delighted to report the food is as great as ever, if not better! The warm reds of the room and the cozy seating along with a cup of chai was the perfect thing on a drizzly night. Service was so welcoming and genuinely kind, and the food came quickly. Like many restaurants they need more support , especially with the loss of so much parking on Valencia keeping folks away. Come visit the area soon and bring your appetite for this San Francisco classic!
Recommended as the city's most authentic by a friend from India. Great flavors, careful cooking, generous portions, and an elegant spacious place for conversations with friends. Was surprised by the low prices; the dining experience totally exceeds the price.
Delicious Butter Chicken and everything is halal. Nice and attentive staff, and good authentic vibes. Great spot to try in SF!
If I could give more stars I would. This place is fabulous. The service by Sonia is AMAZING. Not only is she so sweet but pays attention to every detail. The restaurant is larger, clean, chill vibe that makes you feel comfortable and safe to enjoy your delicious food. And speaking of the food... you can taste the difference! Fresh and flavorful. The Naan is both crispy and soft... how can that be?! They have ruined me from all the other restaurants. They will be the only Indian/Pakistani place I will eat from. I can't recommend them enough!
If you want delish Indian food and exceptionally friendly service than look no further! I have been dining here for years and highly recommend it. Sonia is a wonderful hostess and server. Try this restaurant - you will be very satisfied!
This spot is the most delicious Indian and Pakistani food in the neighborhood IMO!! The portions are huge, the naan was so fluffy and soft, and there were so many vegetarian options that are just as good as the meat ones!! The service was great and timely as well. Coming back real soon!
What a lovely place! I hadn't eaten here in person for well over a decade, even though I get delivery from Aslam's Rasoi ever once in a while. The vibe is chill and friendly. Our server seemed to know everyone there, and still welcomed us as warmly as if we were regulars. It's always a good sign when the staff seem happy, even at the end of the night. Two of us shared two dishes, the rogan josh and the chicken saagwala, both spicy, plus rice and naan. The stewed lamb was perfectly tender, and the sauce was layered with so much flavor, with a nice ginger kick to it. The chicken was also perfectly cooked, with an indulgent creamy spinach sauce. The naan was light, somehow both soft and crispy at the same time. Everything I've gotten in previous delivery orders has also been very good. For those of you who can't eat cilantro like me, they've also always gotten my "no cilantro" orders right. I'm impressed!
This is my favorite Indian-Pakistani restaurant! I always have a Mahal beer. And it pairs perfectly with my go-to dishes. My top choice is the Chicken Tikka Masala, which is rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The naan is fresh, soft, and ideal for soaking up all the delicious sauces. The staff is incredibly friendly and the ambiance is cozy and inviting.
Hands down the best Indian food in the Bay Area! I love dining in or getting my food to go, Sonia is amazing she knows my order everytime I go in. I always recommend Aslams to my friends around the city and they also agree it’s the best. Garlic naan is so fluffy & their chicken korma is quality! Very well priced.
This restaurant’s food is deeply sumptuous, authentic, and flavorful. I hear the city has made business for them quite difficult, and their longevity in SF I think warrants way more patronage. I’m here for work for a week and will come back before I leave. Thank you Sonia and the whole crew there for this exceptional dining experience!
Outstanding! I went here with a group of my friends and this was by far one of the best meals I've ever had. The service was incredible! The staff is extremely friendly and is top notch when it comes to running a restaurant. And when it comes down to the food, it was out of this world. I've been to other places before that have had some pretty good traditional Indian dishes. But this place, they easily hit 10/10. The lamb is perfect go the point it almost melts in your mouth. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for fantastic food and an incredible staff.
This is one of the best Indian/Pakistani Resturants in SF. Their food is consistently excellent. I bring my relatives from Pakistan here and they are always surprised at the quality of the meals served. They focus on food and service and will never disappoint. Their naan’s are perfect- not too doughy or chewy. Their saag is amazing as is the kebabs. Actually everything I have tried is tasty and cooked just right.
I've ben eating at Aslam's for over a decade and consistently it serves up the delicious comfort North-Indian/Pakistani food that makes you happy. As with any of this food, it is overwhelmingly better when enjoyed piping hot straight from the kitchen (especially the tandoor) - another reason to avoid any delivery apps that gouge from restaurants and provide nothing in return. Great place to take the whole family and has tons of dishes that are made mild so kids can enjoy as well.
Best Pakistani food!! Naan was so soft, chicken tandoori was so tender and spices were perfect. Samosa chaat was so delicious too. Best I ever had. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Waitress was so friendly too.
Staff is incredibly friendly and sweet! My go to dishes are the murgh makhani and tandoori chicken🤤🤤 It hits every. single. time. With a side of pulao and their garlic naan?!? *chef’s kiss* I take my family and friends when they visit and they absolutely love Aslam’s as well! Get on over for some tasty dishes and great service 🤝
Just happened to come across this gem searching for somewhere to eat. This place had excellent excellent service by the server Sofia and her younger brother. This was probably the best food since my last good feed which was at the Haveli restaurant in Lahore. Will always recommend to friends and family.
Best Indian food in The City by far. We've tried so many Indian restaurants but nothing comes close. The staff couldn't be more friendly or accommodating. I love everything about this place.
I've tried so many different Indian/Pakistani restaurants in SF but this one is my favorite! The staff are always so friendly and the food comes very quick. Make sure to try the Murgh Makhani and the Naan, they are both delicious!
Always friendly and professional service. Delicious food and nice environment. I really look forward to dining at Aslam Rasoi. Excellent 🌝 I have been coming here for years. I just love this nice place! :)
This is by far our favorite Indian food in SF. always fresh and always delicious. We love the folks who work here as well- its so nice to come in and see the same people working- each time and they always greet us like old friends.
This is by far the best South Asian food in San Francisco. I've been eating here for years and it never disappoints. Everything is delicious but a special mention for the Korma, Saag and Tandoori dishes.
Fantastic authentic Pakistani food. Many dishes that are difficult to find elsewhere and quality ingredients. Highly recommend. Reasonably priced for the amazing food.
I’ve had a lot of Indian food at different places, but this one has truly become my favorite so far. The food is absolutely amazing every dish is packed with authentic flavors, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. The service is just as impressive, with staff who are friendly, attentive, and make you feel genuinely welcome. On top of that, the atmosphere is warm and cozy, creating the perfect setting whether you’re coming for a casual meal, a family dinner, or even a special occasion. Overall, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again.
In my life, I’ve written less than 3 reviews. This restaurants stands out to be one of them. Sonia did a fantastic job and made this experience truly unforgettable, all while accommodating food restrictions. Kudos to whoever hired her! Will surely be coming back
10/10 This place is a gem for anyone craving authentic Pakistani and Indian cuisine! The chicken tandoori was perfectly spiced and tender, and the lamb seekh kebabs were juicy with just the right amount of smoky flavor. The chicken tikka masala was creamy, flavorful, and paired beautifully with their freshly baked garlic naan--a must-try combo. The warm and inviting atmosphere made the whole dining experience even better. Can't forget the mango lassi! Highly recommend, it is my go to spot!
February 2022: Enjoyed a pleasant meal here. Saw this place on Check Please and wanted to give it a try. The lady who greeted us was very friendly. Asked if we were vaccinated but didn't check our credentials. ☹️ We ordered the dal, bengan bartha (eggplant), saag paneer, naan, and roti. Everything was tasty. We asked for medium spicy but it was weird in that both the saag paneer and the bengan bartha had chunks of green colored peppers (serrano maybe?) that was quite spicy hot. I would have preferred the hotness to be more subtle. Also the food was only lukewarm. I would have preferred the food to be warmer. I liked the roti. Very tasty. All in all, rating four ⭐ because of the areas of improvement noted. I'd come back again to try the place again.
amazing food we ordered boneless chicken the food was excellent it’s quite relaxed. The total price was incredibly reasonable, I strongly recommend this restaurant and will return many times again.
Aslam's has been going strong for nearly a decade now and it's a quality Indian bistro. This is where you go when you want to take your family or someone special out to Indian food but don't want them to deal with all the fallout that comes from a venture into Pakwan. This is Indian food with cloth napkins and proper cutlery, where someone fills your water for you. It offers all the dishes my favorite divey spots offer with a little more panache. I returned their with my wife and her parents a few weeks ago and was impressed at how well the dishes stood up after all this time. Their tandoori dishes are exceptional and everything else is good if not great. Service is a bit lacking. We were stranded without a server a couple of times and also had to wait quite a bit to get seated, even while we had a reservation. But they were friendly and well-intentioned, if not polished. We had the Tikka masala and Paneer Tikka korma, plus an appetizer. It was all quite tasty, but not the best we've had in the Mission. The basil naan was excellent, though! 4/5 on flavor and value.
Ambiance - dark and good Price - Medium Service - Excellent and fast Staff - Soniya she is just awesome, very welcoming 🥰 & friendly Food: Karahi gosh - Taste similar to Karma, doesn’t taste like Karahi. But it was tasty😍 Naan - I felt it was tandoori roti (I strongly prefer from Pakwan) Overall experience was good, we will come back Close on Tuesdays
Worst restaurant experience ever. The food was sub par, that we couldn't even finish. The price in the bill was different from the price in the menu and the service was really bad. Do not go here.
