My duck was perfectly cooked, and tasted wonderful. The dessert pictured was delicious, and I would definitely recommend it.

Excellent food and a surprisingly great pizza! Usually there's a long wait but we were lucky I guess. We had the funghi white pizza and the Margherita, both of them wer good. The pizza though is the perfect thickness and has that little gluteny awesome bounce to it. The ingredients seemed fresh and the staff were nice. Very recommended!

There really is a reason this place is packed everynight. Everything is pretty much spot on with flavor and presentation. Casual vibe and lively atmosphere makes for a nice date night or catch-up dinner with friends. Location right down the street from Dolores makes for a great end to a park day as well! Had the heirloom salad, gnocchi, tagliatelle, & quail on my first visit. Can highly recommend each dish without question. Will definitely be back to see if this review holds up!

Had the speciality fish & some pasta and everything was carefully made. Waiters were so lovely as well. 10/10 experience !

Amazing spot for great vibes and service! The food was really good - shared the grilled red snapper 👌🏼, clam pizza, cheese starter, pistachio gelato.

First time eating here since their remodel. They created a beautiful space and I love the new bar. Excellent drinks and delicious food — especially enjoyed the Parmigiano Sformato with figs. Looking forward to coming back again.

We waited for 30 min, it’s definitely worth the wait! Saffron Arancini is Italian rice ball, it’s a great dish to start with. Grilled Monterey Calamari is fresh and tasty. Our waiter recommended seasonal special: Cherry Pie Pizza, those cherry tomatoes are so sweet. Finally, we love our dessert - pistachio gelato and strawberry sorbetto! This place is so popular, still many to dine in at 8pm. I recommend this place if you are in near Mission District.

This was my 3rd or 4th visit to Delfina over the span of many years. I have fond memories of this restaurant and my friends and I were not disappointed on this occasion. After a pre-course of delicious bread from Tartine Bakery and house made focaccia, our party of 6 shared various appetizers including the sardine salad, calamari salad, and pommes frites with rosemary. We found the sardines to be particularly tasty. For our main courses, three of our group ordered the chicken, which they enjoyed, one had a pasta as an entree and said he liked it, and two of us had the black sea bass, which, I can attest, was simply "melt in your mouth" divine. As sides, we ordered the eggplant, served in a smokey, peppery salsa and the golden string beans, uniquely prepared with bits of sardines and walnuts. At least one of us was so enamored of the yellow string bean side that she indicated she would try to replicate the dish at home. We shared a variety of desserts. All were superb. Service at Delfina was excellent. Timing of each course was spot on. Our main server and her assistant servers were friendly but not intrusive. And, considering the cost of a meal at restaurants of this caliber, we found our total bill to be surprisingly reasonable.

Great food. Good service. Lots of fun. We had a reservation for 6 people and they were able to handle all of us with no issues. The butter beans were amazing.

I will definitely come back the next time I’m in San Francisco. 5 stars for the delicious food & exceptional/caring staff! They went above and beyond.

Honestly one of the best meals I’ve had all year. The server was so kind and helpful, super friendly to our little kiddos (5 and 2); they have off menu simplified kid pastas and a huge delicious bread starter that made our lives so easy so my husband and I could enjoy our INCREDIBLE homemade pastas. His capallacci was the best filled pasta I’ve ever had and my ragú was just flawless. Plus — for fellow Bluey lovers — they have pavlova for dessert!! My kids flipped. SO GOOD, we’ll be back many times!

The manager and our servers when we visited was just phenomenal. Got all their recommendations and highly suggest people do the same if they’re open to anything and just love good food. The drinks were also amazing. The best espresso martini I’ve had in the city. Period.

Amazing food and service, and they now have a lovely outdoor setup with heaters. Service was super lovely - they were running late with our pizza (though honestly we didn’t notice), and kindly apologized by giving us arancini on the house. Funnily enough the arancini was probably my favorite part of the meal - they were absolutely delightful!

We were shocked to find this place didn’t have at least a bib gourmand! The food, cocktails, wine, and service were all amazing. We even got to explore new amaros and all of this was enjoyed in a beautiful setting.

Delfina never rests on their laurels. In fact I think last night was the best mean I've had there and that says a lot! From day 1 this place got it all right (food, ambiance, cocktails, staff) and all these years later they still have it. Without ever being pretentious or stuffy, this place exudes a sexy and sophisticated feel. GO NOW!

The best Italian restaurant experience I’ve had in quite a while! The food is refined and never greasy, which is a welcome change from what you often find at other Italian spots. We were recommended a lovely Gragnano wine that paired beautifully with our meal. The squid, porcini pasta, and the onion and guanciale pizza were all exceptional—I’m still thinking about them. We ended the meal with a perfect affogato and a thoughtfully selected digestif from upstate New York, offered on the house :) I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in town! Also, the staff was absolutely lovely!

Delfina is still rockin’ it. We’ve been coming here for 20+ years and this place is still my favorite for pasta (spaghetti pomodoro is divine). Casual but upscale dining with great service that can be inconsistent (slow-ish) depending on staffing but is always attentive and friendly. The food and drinks more than make up for any hiccups. The foccacia (house made and award winning) is fantastic - a must order. The deviled eggs are a must try and if there’s anchovies or liver on the menu, try it! We tried the wood grilled short ribs for two- pricey and indulgent and worth it! Charred to perfection and fall off the bone goodness with a side of cardoon potato gratin. The oysters were plump but I’d pass on this next time and go for the other antipasti or salads. Insalata do Campo is a nice palate refresher with chicory and crispy pancetta. The cocktails are good and they have a variety of wines by the glass. I usually get a Negroni and tried the Prima Fresca-a gin based drink -refreshing. I highly recommend this for a delicious meal and friendly service. Desserts are sublime, they make a true Affogato with a nice amaro accompaniment. Thanks Delfina!

An unexpected surprise amidst the culinary chaos of our times! I wandered in with modest expectations and departed in something resembling a rapture. The Tomatoes and Smoked Ricotta Pizza was, dare I confess, a revelation. ’It has been many years since a new pizza stirred my jaded soul to such affection, indeed, I feared myself incapable of love again until that first bite. Light as a summer whisper, balanced as a well rehearsed lie. Each ingredient performed its role with Shakespearean precision: the tomato, a tragic hero bursting with passion; the ricotta, a noble companion doomed to melt away too soon and arugula, holding it altogether like a valiant Knight. And then, the dessert! The Buttermilk Panna Cotta arrived like a gentle epilogue after the storm. The passion fruit lent it a whisper of mischief, striking the precise note between sweet affection and savoury betrayal. One might say it tasted like love, delightful yet often, confusing. I shall return one day, fork in hand, ready to rekindle our brief but passionate affair, provided, of course, San Francisco hasn’t sunk beneath its own rent prices by then.

we had an excellent Sunday family dinner here. we were very late to our reservation time. usually i don’t know what to do when this happened. the communication with Delfina was smooth and stress free. we didn’t order drinks but loved every dish we ordered! the duck was a little salty still very good! the atmosphere was good and casual which i liked. i didn’t like the music though. it’s just my personal preference.

This gem of a restaurant was a treat! We were seated without a wait, the service was excellent. Staff is friendly and attentive. The food was amazing! The halibut crudo was exceptional: with bright and zingy marinated apricots, creamy avocado, tart guacamole-ish sauce, bits of crunchy veggie and tender chunks of fish!! The fungi pizza hit the spot with masterfully balanced crunchy and bubbly crust and savory wild mushrooms topping. The butter beans and warmed olives were simple favorites that completed a very satisfying meal.

Does Delfina really need another review? This place has the best service, awesome pastas and delicious starters and pizzas. It’s the kinda place you book if you want to ensure you have a good night out. Our lamb leg dish was way too rare, however, and for that cut of meat to be rare it gets very chewy. Surprised the kitchen didn’t catch that but y he lamb leg was the only thing we didn’t like. Everything else was 👨🏻‍🍳😘👌

I live a few minutes walk away and pass by this restaurant on an almost-daily basis, tonight finally got a chance to eat there, and it was definitely worth it. It’s already amazing to find out they serve duck meat here, and all the dishes we ordered are flavorful and delicious. I haven’t had above avg Italian food at the same price level for a while. Highly recommended!

It’s been many years since I ate at Delfina, and I am glad that I returned for a delicious meal. The service and ambience are great though I thought the back dining room was a bit noisy. The halibut Crudo was an excellent starter as was this summer Formato, especially combined with the delicious fresh bread. My only feedback is that the SF health mandate of 7% is too high relative to its peer restaurants. Delfina calculates it on the after tax amount, which increases it by another ~1%.

Came here with a large group and got to try a lot off the menu. Good: - The spaghetti pomodoro dish was awesome - I liked how tasty and chewy each noodle was - The bread that came out at the start of the meal was so good, and the meats it came with were so nice and refreshing - The duck breast dish was really solid as well and I liked the crispy panchetta on the salad - The dessert at the end was an ice cream with a baked shell and it was so flakey and crunchy! Bad: - It took forever for the food to get here, and our dinner ended up taking 3.5 hours since the next courses wouldn't arrive for a very long time - They kept bringing out our drinks to the wrong people, so I had to re-order my drinks twice Overall this was a good Italian place and lots of variety, though might not come again unless I wanted to host a large group gathering.

I'LL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!!! I think that many will agree that rekindling a flame is a dangerous prospect. "...we had such a wonderful time together. Everything jived between us. It was so comfortable. So exciting. So decadent". Delfina Restaurant is amazing. So amazing that we're afraid to eat here again. Everything that I've heard over the years is true. Spending our anniversary at Delfina was a decision well made. I'm not a food critic or one that can (or dare attempt) explain food in its intricate details. But my wife and I eat out often. We enjoy fine dining and ultra fine dining, so I'm pleased to say that tonight's meal was one of our best. Each course was simply amazing. It made me pleased to think of how much pride went into the preparation and presentation. By the time our 3rd course was served, my wife and I both thought at the same time, there is NO WAY the next course will be amazing. We thought that again before dessert was served. From the bread to the panna cotta, it was simply pleasure and awe. Our server was delightful and had a charming personality. A true sweetheart that not only knew how to introduce the food but was just honestly charming. She made our wedding anniversary even more special. The artist Sade said it well. "Never as good as the first time." I guess that we will be back again.

We had dinner with my partner at Delfina. I’m not exaggerating that this is one if the best restaurants of SF. Everything was perfect: the attention, the food, the ambiance. But the food is really unbeliavable. The anchovies and the mortadella were delicious. The soup is simply undescriptible. Then we tried the short rib stracotto which was amazing. The dessert delfina tissane was also delicious. 5/5

Our experience at Delfina was next level. Our server Cassia was extraordinary. She was attentive and skillfully navigated our diverse group of international in-laws making everyone feel personally accommodated. Every dish was cooked to perfection and seasoned to highlight rather than overwhelm the ingredients. The Langherino bottone black trumpet mushroom pasta was one of the most flavorful dishes I have ever eaten and the Tortelloni di Zucca was a masterpiece. We ended up ordering every side because they were all amazing and none disappointed. Cassia and the manager Kimberly were extremely attentive and helped us pick the perfect wine for the meal. We will most certainly dine here again soon.

In a weekend of epic dining across Napa and San Francisco to celebrate our wedding, Delfina stole the show. Owner Annie Stoll graciously walked my wife (then fiancée) and me through designing a menu over the span of a couple of days, working to accommodate our family's food preferences and restrictions, then put us in touch with Wine Director Kelsey Tulloch who knocked it out of the park with course pairings. The personal attention we received continued when we walked through the door last weekend, with the entire front of house staff so incredibly attentive, friendly, and insanely competent at hugging that magic space between "always available" and "never intrusive". The food? Flawless. We would rave about one course and inevitably the next would be even better: focaccia with whipped ricotta and sundried tomatoes, chicory salad with pancetta and walnuts, spaghetti pomodoro, grilled chicken, short ribs, cocoa nib pavlova...I blacked out for a minute there just remembering how delicious it all was. Annie, Kelsey, and everybody else who made our night so wonderful: THANK YOU. We already have reservations for our next visit and look forward to seeing you every time we're back in the Bay.

Pretty good place. Came here on a Friday for dinner and got seated at the bar within 15 minutes. My friend and I split the bone marrow which was good. I got the hen agnolotti to start and the quail as my main course. The quail was exceptional. Service was slow but the food quality made up for it.

This throwback Italian eatery is what springs to mind when you think about a neighborhood dining destination. Unpretentious, welcoming, bustling - ready to make you comfortable, serve you good food in return for you hard earned money, and to do so without any fakery. The aroma in the air was warm and nostalgic. The burratta was incredible, the tomatoes in season. The ragu hearty and wholesome. The cherry pie pizza was light & filling simultaneously. The petroleum sole was sauced with nuance and spice. Our service was excellent. Suggested a bottle of white and red for the table - wine i had never heard of, but they were both well received!!

Delfina Restaurant in San Francisco is a charming culinary destination that I'd rate at 4 stars. The cozy ambiance and simple yet elegant décor create a welcoming atmosphere for diners. The emphasis on seasonal ingredients is evident in their menu, resulting in dishes that burst with freshness and flavor. The food at Delfina is undeniably delicious, with a focus on Italian-inspired cuisine. The carefully crafted dishes showcase a thoughtful approach to preparation and presentation. However, there were moments when certain dishes didn't quite meet the high expectations set by the rest of the menu, preventing a full 5-star rating. The service staff is attentive and knowledgeable, adding to the overall positive experience. Their recommendations and insights into the menu contribute to a well-rounded dining journey. The wine selection complements the menu well, offering a variety of options to enhance the dining experience. In summary, Delfina Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with some minor inconsistencies in execution that led to a 4-star rating. The ambiance, flavors, and service make it a worthwhile spot to explore Italian cuisine in San Francisco.

First time here. We expected more from a Michelin star restaurant. My wife just had pasta and sauce. The pasta was firm and there was not much sauce. Mine was really good, don't remember the name but the noodles were perfect and the meat sauce was abundant. I ended up giving my wife half so she felt like she had a meal. 4 stars might be generous, but they could have had an off night. We may try them again.

I ended up giving my wife half so she felt like she had a meal. 4 stars might be generous, but they could have had an off night. We may try them again.

Very good atmosphere, somewhat slow service and overall kind of mediocre food for the price. The highlight of the meal was the appetizer - chicken liver crostini. We thought the margherita pizza was a bit overcooked. The ragu pasta was pretty good but the tripe pasta was way too heavy. Service was VERY slow and overall just not worth the price.

Food was underwhelming for the prices and hype. The best thing we got was the insalata mixta, which was admittedly very good. Besides that we got the gluten free mushroom pizza and gluten free tagliatelle with a meat ragu. The gf pizza was good and I’d get that again but I wish they had more than 2 varieties of pizza since the other one didn’t really appeal. For the gf pasta they used spaghetti instead of tagliatelle and it was fine but tasted like something I could’ve made at home. The last thing we got, the brown butter polenta, was pretty bland. Overall not worth it for the price.

Had not been to Delfina for sometime and decided to try it again when relatives were visiting. Love the food there and the expanded spacious dining hall. However, our food turned cold within minutes it was served as the dining space was unbearably chilling cold. We were freezing and had to put on our jackets while eating. Noticed a couple of diners in shorts and they too were shivering. It is a popular restaurant but I am wondering if management is purposely making the room uncomfortable so that diners are not lingering after their meals for faster turnovers.

Food was above average! I got the ricotta cavatelli and the lamb meatballs were perfect. Service is solid. They were attentive, but we felt rushed. As soon as appetizers are done, dinner was placed. Then, immediately dessert menu after dinner. After declining, bill was given immediately. We were expecting a little time to chill and finish drinks.

came here for a birthday dinner on a recommendation from a local wine bar. unfortunately was not worth the financial or temporal cost. arrived for walk in around 8:50 and despite ordering first and second course at latest 9:10, bread arrived cold and then perhaps 20 min later pasta arrived lukewarm unsavory and undercooked at 9:38 (timestamp pictured). at ~10:02 we asked that the duck we ordered be cancelled. they told us it was about to be plated. at ~10:07, a different server delivered our duck — i pointed out that it was pink purple inside, was informed somewhat sassily that the duck comes undercooked, i replied in equal measure, is that why it took half an hour? ultimately not happy with unsavory interactions like this especially on a happy occasion. the duck was cancelled, but time we will never get back. service was warm and decent until cancellation of plate, which was not contested really, otherwise review would be worse. would not recommend over plethora of other italian restaurants in the city

Inviting atmosphere and good service, but disappointing food. Perplexed by the rave reviews here?!???? The environment is inviting and the wait staff was friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the food itself was overly salted and disappointing overall. • Grilled octopus: very small portion and extremely salty. It was only partially cleaned, leaving fatty, slimy fascia that was inedible and had to be removed at the table (see pic). The dominant flavor was salt. • Langherino bottone: supposed to be mushroom cheese ravioli, but the filling was watery with only a light mushroom flavor. Mostly salty, and $35 for nine ravioli felt hard to justify. • Margherita pizza: very sparse mozzarella, and the dough inside the crust edges lacked tenderness. • Smothered chard: initially very salty, but after asking for a remake it came back well-balanced and was actually very good. Overall, the service and atmosphere were excellent, but the food quality and seasoning issues made the meal disappointing.

Delfina has a charming, intimate atmosphere but falls short on value, very overpriced!! We tried the Wood-Grilled Octopus ($25), Delfino Anchovies & Butter ($12), and Root-Down Duck Breast ($42). While presentation was beautiful, portions were disappointingly small for the premium prices. The Delfino Anchovies were the highlight - unique and reasonably priced. However, the duck breast was underwhelming - only four thin slices for $42, and the flavor didn't justify the cost, extremely overpriced! Service at the bar was inattentive. Cocktails (The Silvanito & Occhi d'Angelo) were well-crafted. With SF's 7% mandate and high prices that don't match portion sizes or taste, unlikely to return.

Ordered take out from their website.. Twice... And both times the wait time for the order was over an hour and even when I got to the window on time... It still took 30 more minutes. Why am I paying 25% tip? Why am I back? Their Pizza is delicious.. but at some point.. It's not worth it. A ton of peeps waiting

It’s a definitely not an authentic Italian restaurant. Though the ambiance and service was pleasant, I found it odd that there are only Caucasian servers. So, where are the minority servers, the only minority I noticed there are the Hispanic kitchen crew. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend this establishment for any minorities.
