Just delicious! Their menu is a bit confusing as the in person menu is different from the “order online” menu, and the “order online” menu had some items listed as “out of stock” but when we asked, they were able to make the items. We got the cilantro beef and combo chow mein. Huge portions and so so good. We eat ultra low sugar so we are always afraid dishes will be too sweet, but nothing we ordered had too much sugar. We’ll definitely be coming back.
Great food. The menu was a bit smaller than the other restaurants around but we ordered anyway. The chow mein was off the chain ! The pot stickers and soups were great 😃
Visited at 6 PM on a weekday when the restaurant wasn’t too busy. The ambiance was pleasant and welcoming, and the staff were friendly throughout our meal. The egg rolls made a great start — crisp and flavorful. The Kung Pao chicken was perfectly spicy and easily the best dish of the evening. Both the shrimp and chicken combo fried rice and the chow mein noodles were tasty and satisfying. Overall, a nice spot for a relaxed and delicious meal.
**SPICY** If you cant eat spicy, this is not the place for you. Overall in terms of taste is very close to Hunan local taste. Been around North America, this is one of the top 3 place if you want Hunan style type of spicy and food. Highly recommended. Service was good, food was exceptionally good. Especially after a long flight. Highly recommend the noodle in the middle of the picture.
The best Chinese restaurant ever!!! I have been their royal customer for 5 years. Food is always perfectly cooked with wok hei – that smoky, charred aroma you only get from high-heat stir-frying. My all time favorite dishes are: - Pickled Chili w. Chicken Gizzard - Fried intestine w. Spicy Sauce - Sauteed Bullfrog w. Pickled Pepper - Diana's Special-Meat Pie - Chow Mein - first time knowing chow mein could be an amazing dish… even simple dishes are better than regular restaurants because of the wok hei!!! Trust me! If you love spicy, this is the restaurant you must try!! Pro tips: If you don’t eat spicy often, ask for Mild 🔥 but you won’t regret trying Henry’s Hunan family own restaurant - feel like home!! Hope you enjoy it.. 😋
Here’s Henry’s Hunan is a family-owned gem that brings the authentic flavors of their hometown to life with their spicy signature dishes. We visited as a group of 16, including 5 kids, and were fortunate to get a table on a busy holiday weekend. For many of us, this was our first time trying traditional Chinese vegetarian food, and it did not disappoint. The green tea was incredibly soothing and paired perfectly with our meal. We started with appetizers: the onion cake and spring rolls, which were delicious, though slightly on the oily side. For the main course, we tried a variety of dishes: • Chinese greens: Simple yet packed with flavor. • Vegetarian chow mein: Perfectly cooked noodles with a great balance of spices. • Vegetarian fried rice with tofu: Light yet satisfying. • Kung Pao Tofu: Spicy, flavorful, and a favorite among the group. • Sautéed eggplant: Melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The portions are generous, and the food tends to be spicy, so be sure to let them know if you prefer less heat. The staff were amazing—friendly, attentive, and helpful—which made the experience even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be coming back!
WARNING: DO NOT GET THE ENGLISH MENU This restaurant is phenomenal. It’s the best Chinese food I’ve eaten outside of China. Make sure to ask for the Chinese menu, and definitely get the frog and the noodles. The low reviews seem to be from people ordering Americanized items off the English menu (ie kung pao chicken, lo mein, etc).
Visiting from Washington and stumbled upon this place, which is a few blocks from my hotel. If you come to SF for a conference, and you like spicy Chinese food, come to this place. As someone from Hunan’s adjacent province, i can attest to the authenticity of food here. however, pls go with a friend who speaks chinese or ask for the chinese menu. they do have separate menus. The meat is appropriated seasoned, veggies very fresh, flavorful yet not too saucy. My favorite Chinese restaurant so far.
Went here with my Chinese friend and we had to ask for the special Chinese menu, they gave us the regular one at first. I would say if you’re not too familiar with Chinese food, stick to the English one but we both enjoyed the food here a lot! The food is spicy (how I like it) but I recommend getting the sweet tea with it to combat the spice. Between the 2 of us we had 5 dishes and took home whatever we didn’t finish. I’ll definitely be coming back to try the pork belly
We went on the evening of the 23th. It wasn’t very crowded, but since there were only one or two servers, we still waited a short while to be seated. We were seated in a corner near the entrance, so it was a bit hard for the staff to notice us. Most of the dishes here lean on the spicy side. We asked for very, very, very mild, but the food still had a slight kick. The shredded potato dish was a bit thick-cut and on the sour side. The fried noodles were decent, and the stir-fried beef was fine as well. Thankfully, the stir-fried pork didn’t have any unpleasant pork smell. My friend mentioned that it didn’t have as much “wok hei” as the first time she tried it.
We had a casual dinner during a workday. Overall not many people and fast to get all dishes. The Sauteed bullfrog w/ pickled pepper (泡椒牛蛙) was as expected and pretty good. It was spicy though it didn't look so much spicy. The celery beef was fine and quite normal. Overall okay for a quick dinner.
Mongolian beef and dumplings. The beef does not come with broccoli but I added to my dish for $3. Worth it for sure. Beef was flavorful and tender. The dumplings I would pass on. The sauce was 'off'... It messed up the experience of eating a pork dumpling. Not horrible, just not very good either.
Well, I didn't fully understand what we ordered, but it is a very good place if you like real Chinese food. My group had 2 Chinese people and they were delighted with the food and the place. Be careful with ordering spicy food, as it might be TOO spicy! Try to order some sauce on the side and try it. Good for vegetarians as well, as there are many options
Good is not bad. But very slow even it’s empty inside. All servers are in a rush. Just get ready to wait for 1 hour+ even it’s not busy.
Food was either a hit or miss. Then, to top off, we found a rubber band in our chicken chow mien. Dumpling was terrible. You wait a really long time to place an order few items on the menu. Online menu has more options and different prices. If you Asian they must give a different menu because they had order fried noodles and rabbit entry.
