⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Food & Excellent Service! We had a fantastic dining experience at Cervecería Don Calamar! The waiters were incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was absolutely delicious—we ordered the calamari sandwich and Spanish tortillas, and both dishes were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The calamari was crispy yet tender, and the tortilla was just the right balance of soft and savory. Highly recommend this place for great food and a warm atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

Great restaurant in a good position. Definitely recommend. We had great food there from the Galician Octopus to the frird Shrimp in batter, to the croquetas, and the calamari bocadillos is definitely a must try. Staff were nice and available. Would go back again !

I like the sangría here(I like sangría in general). It's a bit dry and has a medium wine body, which makes it quite refreshing when chilled. The squid is fried quite well. The flour coating is perfect. Gazpacho is very nice as well. Galician Octopus I'm not very keen. The octopus is fresh for sure. And the taste in general is balanced. But the paprika is a bit bitter for me. I saw it on almost everyone's table, so I guess it's me that's not used to the food yet XD

Amazing place where to stop in this beautiful square. Bocadillo con calanares onyl 4€ y vaso de tinto de Verano only 3.5€. All the waiters were very kind.

The callos in the menu turned out to be the standout, and we were lucky—it was the best we’ve tasted. As a bonus, they also offer the finest jamón iberico, gambas, calamari, and oxtail. Special thanks to the Pinay servers who attended to us.

Stopped from our walk to get a quick bite to eat, mainly for the kids. Had some cold beverages and some pizza and pasta. Nothing to knock you from your feet but overall good quality and excellent service - the waiter was very friendly and everything was ok overall.

Price was fine, only one person knew English well but it was okay, rice with chicken was very good and amazing, only problem there were only 3 pieces of chicken which was a little disappointing, complimentary chips and olives were a nice way to start my journey in Madrid as well! Great atmosphere!

The paella was really good, but apart from that everything else was okay. Service and atmosphere were decent, but the air ventilation could use some work.

In a quite nice spot, the food here is delicious, the price is fair, and the best part is the very welcoming and friendly waiters. You should try it!

They offer the most affordable sangria price in the square — perfect for sitting down in the late afternoon and enjoying a glass while watching the square. We didn’t eat there, but after seeing that most of the food was being taken out of the freezer inside, we decided to have our meals elsewhere.

Average experience. It's not as bad as some people say here. The food is just so so. The shrimp was the best out of all we ordered. The seafood salad is a big miss. It was ice cold and made out of frozen product. The paella was not bad, but not great too. They were super skimpy on the seafood on the paella. It is however a nice place to sit and drink something, because the location at the square is nice.

The drinks were great and the service was super as well. I would recommend to sit down and enjoy Plaza Mayor with drinks and some apps. But main meals were just okay.

I wanted some white wine, and when asked from which wine maker the wine would come the response was "I dońt know". The speed of service and attention of the service when wanting to order more, was challenging. Yes the restaurant was full, but the staff was more busy chatting to each other than looking at the clients. Food presentation takes you back into the 80ies. The taste, especially of the fried mussels was poor. Because it was tasteless. I would even say it was an industrial product and not handmade. The Boquerones were OK. No condiments were served with the dishes, and you had to ask for aioli/a dip. Resume: whilst the location is outstanding, there are better restaurants in the area. I would not go back there.

Worst food, shit service. They just don't care and they know it. They have plenty of customers coming in due to location, so zero motivation to be a decent place. Even if you wanna sit in the square, try one of the other ones.

Pizza from the freezer, patata bravas tasted like they poured on a Campbell tomatosoup. Food NOT WORTH THE MONEY even if it were the half price... I'm going to another place and leave this disgusting food on the table.
