like stepping back in time with the people we love most. we had a wonderful experience, and just taking the time to catch up with family over a beautiful meal with wine—it’s priceless.

My husband and I were fortunate to have our wedding in the upstairs of the Salt House. Heather went above and beyond to make our evening unforgettable. Although it was the first wedding hosted by the Salt House, Heather’s exceptional efforts made it seem like they had done it countless times before. The Salt House and Heather provided beautiful custom menus, florals, and decor, adding a special touch to our evening. Anyone who has dined at the Salt House knows their food is outstanding, and their private events are no exception. Getting married at the Salt House was an incredibly special experience, and I highly recommend it if you’re seeking an intimate venue for a memorable ceremony, dinner, and cocktail hour. We had everything we could have wished for and would do it all over again if we could. It was truly amazing.

The salt house is hands down the best restaurant in new hope and the greater bucks area. Heather will take incredible care of you and every dish is worth having at least twice. I just got married in the upstairs area for an intimate 12 person ceremony and everything was flawless. My wife and I left glowing. I couldn’t be more happy and recommend coming here for any event. Whether it’s just a casual date night or your wedding, salt house and Heather will treat you right!

We visited during Restaurant Week and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the drinks were excellent, and we were seated upstairs, which created a fun, cozy ambiance. Our server, Rich, was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and made the evening even better. Highly recommend! ✨

A very cool and unique dining experience. We sat upstairs in the library lounge area. Tables were a bit low but we made do. They do a great job of maximizing the small amount of space they have but wasn't the most comfortable having to lean over the tables to eat. We got the goat cheese bread appetizer. It was to die for! Unbelievably good! The burger and fries were also exceptional with the garlic aioli. The boar bolognese was good. Can't quite put my finger to what could've put it into the great category. Overall, we will definitely return!

Such a cozy little restaurant with a fireplace on the first floor. We were seated on the second floor right next to the window, so it was pretty cold and drafty, but definitely a nice seat since it was one of two proper tables and chairs. The sofa seating upstairs does look very nice and inviting, but I assume can be tricky when eating. Our meal was delicious; ordered the wild boar bolognese as many mention in reviews and it did not disappoint. There was plenty of wild boar and a nice portion of ricotta on top. The squash and kale salad was also very tasty.

Enjoyed the Steak Frites, Wild Boar Bolognese Pasta as well as the Octopus and Brussel Sprouts appetizers. Good cocktails and red wine selection. Tables are a bit low so if you’re tall it can be a bit different sitting upstairs but it’s cozy place to hang out.

So yummy! Unique, cozy atmosphere. Not pictured are bacon wrapped dates that were spectacular! Walked in at bar around 5PM on a Monday.

After walking the streets of new Hope, I was scouring online for a reservation I could make for lunch, as we were supposed to go to peddlers Village that day. I didn’t see any availability for salt, however, the restaurant was just across the street so we decided to take a peek. I noticed quite a few tables on the exterior patio were available, however, my girlfriends, and I always prefer to sit at the bar, and being that they had just opened there were plenty of seats available at their small bar. We sat down and almost immediately noticed our bartender seemed a little perturbed. Not by us, but she seems quite overwhelmed, making cocktails for the tables that were already seated. We really weren’t acknowledged at all, for probably a good three minutes. We actually just kind of kept looking at each other, almost afraid to say anything to the bartender. Shortly, after that, we were finally acknowledged, she explained she was very busy, trying to catch up, and would be with us shortly. We exchanged quick jokes with her, which seems to put her slightly at ease with us. After that, she had overheard us girls discussing certain drink drinks on the menu, and while she was still working on other orders, she started answering our questions. We each try two different cocktails while we were there, none of us have anything bad to say about the drinks, in fact, we enjoyed them thoroughly. And I should also mention, not long after our first drinks were made, the bartender was caught up and finally started engaging with us, and even cracked a smile. I asked her what I should order for lunch and she told me that they have the best burger in new Hope so of course I took her word for it! Man, she was not exaggerating, in fact, it might have been the best burger I have ever eaten in my entire 46 years of life. My girlfriend asked for a piece and it looks could kill, she would’ve been 6 feet under. My other girlfriend ordered a salad, God help her, she said she liked it. I’m not taking away any points for that because it’s a salad and that was a bad move on her part for even trying to eat healthy. All in all, I would absolutely go back to salt in a heartbeat, it might have been my favorite meal that entire weekend. And what made our visit even sweeter is knowing that when we left, we felt like we had not only cracked that rigid bartender, but I’d like to think we all really enjoyed & appreciated each others company!

This restaurant has such a cozy and inviting feel the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is calm and comfortable, with just the right amount of background music and soft lighting. It’s the kind of place where you can sit for a while and really enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. The food tastes homemade and fresh, and everything we tried had great flavor. The staff were friendly and attentive, and it felt like they truly cared about making sure we had a good experience. It’s the perfect spot for a quiet dinner or a relaxed night out. We’ll definitely be back soon.

What a beautiful place. When you know haw many years is this place and how authentic it is, it's a gem. Beautiful inside so cozy, food delicious along with drinks. Definitely coming back. Great service! Clean bathrooms. Seating outside with heaters.

While visiting New Hope, PA on a beautiful fall afternoon, we found our way to this old an interesting restaurant that sits inside a pre-revolutionary war building. The small establishment makes the best use of it’s quirky space, using the upstairs and downstairs with centuries old staircases and rooms. The service is very friendly if not the most professional but they try hard in the strangest of restaurant conditions. We started with a couple of their cold and delicious draft beers from their vast list of beer, wine and cocktail choices. We then went with their cheese and meat charcuterie, which was huge, containing three delicious cheeses, soppresata, grapes, almonds, honey and toasted bread, very nicely done. We then had the steak frites, the small steak was excellent and cooked perfectly rare, the fries were homemade and tasty. I went with the crab cakes served with a brandy cream sauce, loaded with thick claw meat, one of the best that I have ever had !! The crab cakes were accompanied by some fresh tiny asparagus spears and were cooked superbly. All in all a very nice meal in an unforgettable setting.

My partner and I reserved a table for the wrong day and they were still able to get us in on a Saturday night! Great portions for snacks and appetizers along with a large selection of wine and spirits. The servers were delightful and knowledgeable. Somewhat inconsistent with check ins but to be expected on a Saturday 5pm rush. Will be returning!

They had Fullers ESB which is one of my favorite beers so that was great. Crab cakes were delicious and all crab no filler. Parking is a bit of a pain and the place can be quite loud but overall I enjoyed it very much.

Been coming here for years with the lady. Only twice a year because of distance. But it is special to us. Love the oysters, wine selection, upstairs vibes, and the goat cheese and honey crostinis. Service has always been top, no matter who was assisting us.

We decided to try The Salt House in New Hope while spending the afternoon in town. The outdoor seating was nice, and it was a perfect day for it. We ordered the wedge salad, lamb chop lollipops, and Maryland twin crab cakes — all were pretty solid. The food was good for what it was, the service was great, and the atmosphere was just right. If you’re looking for a nice spot without needing a reservation at one of the higher-end restaurants nearby, this is definitely worth a visit.

Planned a trip to visit new Hope and made a reservation for dinner. Went on a Monday night and it wasn't too busy. The place is quaint but has plenty of different seating options. The service was good, could have been better but everyone was very friendly and helpful. Cocktails were very strong and the food was tasty but wasn't worth the price. Ordered the duck meatballs and they came out cold in the center. All of the entrees sounded great on the menu but lacked flavor, depth, and had temperature issues. My scallops were overcooked and vegetables were on the greasy side. Overall, if you want to splurge I would recommend getting some drinks and snacks and you will have a great experience!

Fancy-ish dining in a beautiful, small, colonial period building. The food is good, but in my opinion, does not justify the pricing (over $30 for nearly every entree). A few standouts were the lower priced snacks we got (~$10 each): charred Brussels sprouts and deviled eggs. Dessert was thankfully, excellent. The cocktail I ordered turned out to be the wateriest drink I’ve ever had, but the server was professional enough to take it off the check. The other cocktails on the menu were nearly all Vodka based and rather uninteresting, but the wine was great. The atmosphere inside is outstanding; a real highlight. I would come back, though for a special occasion given the cost. I advise against the cocktails.

A bit overpriced for a chef who brought to the menu amazing selection of nice dishes, but somehow doesn’t manage to prepare them well. The place is wonderful all tavern with great history. Cocktails are decent and no mistake. But food was either overcooked or undercooked, salty or unseasoned, basically everything was false. It still gives authentic taste, but you could say something is missing on each bite. Disappointing but okay.

We visited for lunch. Very pleasant and inviting atmosphere. We decided to try the $55 special, which offered a nice variety of dishes. While the service was satisfactory, it didn’t stand out as exceptional. The highlight of our meal was the squash and pomegranate salad, and the haddock chowder. bursting with vibrant flavors and textures. The fried chicken sandwich was another standout, crispy and savory, making it a delight to eat. However, the chocolate tart cake fell a bit flat and didn’t quite meet our expectations. For our next visit, we’re considering sitting at the bar to enjoy a more casual experience.

I took my wife for a birthday dinner last Friday night. She was looking forward to it as we like to try new places. The drinks were good, but they weren't complicated, a double Elijah Craig neat and a double Don Julios Reposado neat. I ordered French onion soup, and she ordered the mussels to start. Let's just say it was a very rough start. The French onion soup looked good, caramelized cheese (just a bit) covering the bowl as did the mussels. I think they just put boiled onions in a bowl with a crostini and melted fake cheese over it. I added salt and pepper and even tried a little of my bourbon to help it. It wasn't happening. The mussels were were in a garlic broth. Again, tasteless and the mussels were very small, not the quantity, the physical size. I also asked for bread when that was served. You'd think I was asking for their first born. The bread, or should I say sliced rolls were brought out cold with no butter or oil & vinegar. I asked for oil & vinegar, again, OMG. What a disappointment. Things then got better. I ordered a few appetizers, the duck meatballs, dates wrapped in bacon, half dozen oysters, and deviled eggs. They were actually very good, except for the oysters, they were a disappointment as well. I've had better oysters at a local happy hour. Oysters are not that expensive. My wife ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. That was served with everything mounded. The fish was very good. It came on a bed of soggy risotto and asparagus the size of a tree trunk. We then shared a chocolate torte. I can't say how that was because I don't really care for dessert. I can only say my wife wasn't thrilled. The atmosphere was good. It's a small place and we were sitting by the bar. The bar (8 seats) was busy most of the night. There were 3 waves while we were there. It was 2-3 deep when we left. I was annoyed however, when I looked over for our server to pay the bill and there were 3 servers, all on their phones in the dining room. It was a decent experience, but definitely not worth the price. At the end of the night while we walked to the car, I asked her how she enjoyed the evening, which she did. Then I asked whether she would want to go back and try it again, the answer was no. Below is our bill. Decide for yourselves. I still left a 25% tip because that's me. If I was really happy, I would have left a 50% tip or better. My family and I decided to try the Salt House after riding the New Hope Christmas train. The ambiance is warm & inviting. They are not set up for large groups tho, and we had to sit at different tables even though we had made reservations. Also some of the seating is on couches, which are not really great for enjoying dinner. The service was mostly good, however, one diner’s meal came out very late…. after everyone was nearly finished. Also the servers forgot 1/2 of one person’s meal, as they wanted a soup and salad. Forgot the soup altogether. The boar pasta was enjoyed by a couple of us. The raw oysters were also a hit. The steak frites meal was mediocre with the steak less than satisfactory. The braised short ribs were the meal that came out late & seemed rushed & underdone as it was tough. Prices seem fair and the wine & drink menu are good.

This used to be my favorite eatery in New Hope. I have eaten here countless numbers of time. The food and cocktails were amazing. The place is quaint and cozy with both upstairs seating on couches and a nice outside area. I recently went here on a date and the food was subpar. The waiter with the long hair is amazing. He was attentive and friendly. By far the best part of this experience. Other staff members presented to the table serving food and were unable to answer basic questions due to language barriers. The food this time around was bland. The octopus was awful. The meatball sauce was too sweet. The oysters arrived in a puddle of water instead of on ice. I was embarrassed that I had recommended this place. I’m not sure what has happened over the last few months as this is my go to place but I will not be returning.
