Sunset Indian Restaurant, has taken over the former Naan N' Curry location, and the transformation is impressive. The interior has been thoughtfully updated with attractive décor, a carpeted dining room that softens the space, and the welcome addition of two bathrooms — a definite improvement for guests. I especially appreciate that they now offer beer on tap, which pairs nicely with their menu. The wine selection is also solid, providing good options to complement the meal. As for the food, the Lamb Biryani is easily a 5+ star dish. The rice is light, loose, and beautifully aromatic, with just the right level of spice. The addition of cashews adds a subtle richness and texture that really elevates the dish. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Palak Paneer, which was prepared with a creamy, well-balanced sauce and a generous amount of paneer. An added treat was the plain naan — simple yet perfectly done — which complemented both dishes wonderfully and rounded out the meal. Overall, Sunset Indian Restaurant is a strong addition to the neighborhood, offering flavorful dishes, thoughtful updates to the space, and a comfortable dining experience.
Very delicious and authentic! Wonderful and attentive crew, very clean, professional! We will be back! Highly recommend!!! The food was very delicious.. Food:5/ Service:5 Atmosphere:5 Noise level:Quiet, easy to talk….
Sunset Indian Cuisine on Irving Street in San Francisco is a welcoming spot for authentic and flavorful Indian dishes. The food is freshly prepared, with well-balanced spices and generous portions that stand out for both taste and quality. The restaurant is clean and casual, the service attentive, and the menu offers a great variety—perfect for both dine-in and takeout. The waiter here doesn’t understand English well, make sure you ask them to repeat the order before confirming.
I am very happy because here food is very delicious. I came first time in this restaurant. Restaurant is very clean also service very well. I feel relax.
Garlic naan Chicken biryani Chicken curry 6 out of 5 stars! Excellent food and atmosphere. Completely authentic, 100% fresh and delicious. Great conversation with the staff as well. I have a food allergy and he reassured me that he took it very seriously and that my food was safe to eat, they even modified one of the dishes on the spot so I could still share it with everyone. If you’re in the area, don’t miss stopping by this location!
My family and I had an amazing experience at Sunset Indian Cuisine last night. We love trying new places and this was the one which didn't disappointed us. The ambiance was cozy for a relaxed dinner. The food we had was so delicious. We started with the noodles, which was amazing with less oil. The Juicy Chicken Momo with chutney on the side was incredible. We also ordered Garlic naan, which was soft and warm, Tandoori chicken, Chicken curry, everything was perfect. The service was perfect with friendly and attentive waiter who was knowledgeable about the menu. We'll definitely be back to try more of their Indian and Nepalese dishes, and we highly recommend this place to others !
We ordered a takeout of Veg. chowmein and Hurricane chicken momos, both were incredibly tasty. Veg chowmein had a perfect smoky flavor! Definitely recommended!
the food was amazing here! we got the chicken chilli and the salmon curry and both were well cooked and flavorful. service was really good! this might just be my new spot for indian
Been coming here for at least a couple months now. My partner and I are always cleaning our plates. Everything is always delicious. We often leave with full bellies and smiles on our faces! Thank you for always being so kind 🫶🏻
If you want to feel a family atmosphere with healthy authentic Indian food, this is your place! I ordered the lentil veggie soup with some Dahl. It’s simply delicious, healthy, comforting to my soul. Namaste
I ordered from this restaurant after being disappointed with another restaurant nearby this one. I have to say that the food was a big difference than what I got from the other place last night. Both the chicken vindaloo and the jeera aloo were very good. For dessert I ordered the Kheer Rice Pudding and Gulab Jamun. The Gulab Jamun was very soft and okay but definitely could be way better. It was edible but I wouldn't jump up to order it again. The Kheer Rice Pudding was okay as well but I would only order again if nothing else is opened.
Is amazing food and good customer service i like those foods
ロ I have ordered several items like tandoori chicken wings and chilli chicken which was more tasty than I was expected ..amazing vibes .service was so good and want to recommend everyone to visit this place and try their wonderful food..
Very good food items. I eat the chicken biriyani. It was delicious. The amount of food is also good. More than enough for one person. My friends took Karai chicken, tandoori chicken, garlic nan and soup. Those things were also yummy. The sweetmeat were very very good. They were made by themselves. The behavior of the restaurant owner and the personnel are very polite and helpful. I personally recommend this restaurant in SF. (But unfortunately, I forgot to take the picture of the foods)
Every bite of samosa is fresh and the taste of chowmin is amazing ,full of flavor, great portions, beautiful presentation and excellent experience…Highly recommended this restaurant

Sorry to see Naan N Curry go, but this new restaurant is a worthy replacement- if not superior. Portions and quality were spot on and the pricing is reasonable. They are willing to modify recipes if you have preferences. My wife had the salmon salad and I had the veg Biryani and Kabuli naan (which serves both as an appetizer and desert in one).

Hands down the best Indian food I’ve ever had. We are talking lick-the-plate delicious. Plus kind service and artful plating! So glad we stumbled across this gem of a place.
We showed up with a crowd of 18 unannounced. They took us in like the lost souls we were, provided excellent service and brought incredible, succulent food out in minutes that we thoroughly enjoyed. Come here. Eat here. Have a good time. The food of my people lives well here.
My friends and I have a tradition of going here every year on our friendaversary. The food alwaays hits. They were also super accommodating to us, even though we came with a decently large group on pretty short notice on a weekday haha. Def recommend the samosa chaat to share

Sunset Indian Cuisine: A Delightful Culinary Experience Near Japanese Tea Garden** After a pleasant visit to the Japanese Tea Garden, we decided to explore a nearby Indian restaurant for lunch. Parking concerns led us to choose Sunset Indian Cuisine, just a convenient 15-minute walk away. This turned out to be an excellent decision! The restaurant is conveniently located for those visiting the Japanese Tea Garden or the botanical garden, providing a perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal after exploring the attractions. **Appetizers:** We started our meal with Everest Chicken Momos and Vegetable Momos, along with Lentil Soup, Tomato Hot Sour Soup, and Chicken Hot Sour Soup. The Chicken Momos, paired with their delightful chutney, were a highlight – bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The Chicken Soup was rich and hearty, reminiscent of a curry soup, providing a unique twist to a classic dish. **Entrees:** For the main course, we indulged in Himalayan Goat Curry, Butter Paneer Masala, Garlic Naan, and Chilli Naan. The naan breads were impressively large, perfect for sharing. The Goat Curry was expertly prepared, tender and flavorful, ideal for two people. The Butter Paneer Masala was also a standout, creamy and satisfying. However, the Everest Chicken Momos truly stole the show, leaving a lasting impression with their exceptional taste. **Overall Experience:** The pricing at Sunset Indian Cuisine is reasonable, offering great value for the quality and quantity of food served. This restaurant is a fantastic option for anyone in the area, whether you're visiting the Japanese Tea Garden or the botanical garden. The combination of delicious food, reasonable prices, and convenient location makes Sunset Indian Cuisine a must-visit.
Momos were too good .. they also gave us A spicy chutney on the side as we wanted something spicy .. mango lassi was almost good .. could have been a little sweeter .. laccha parata with paneer tikka masala were delicious .. vegetable biryani was tasty as well.. felt the quantity was less .. but overall could grab a bite if you are close by .. they also have complimentary tea but honestly I didn’t like it .. it had no taste whatsoever..
Chowmein and momos had no proper flavor to it. It is just a few sauces put together, I could taste the Walmart-ness of the food. Food aside, the ambience was authentic though. Kitchen right beside the seating area, clanking sounds from utensils being thrown around, staff quarreling among themselves, people in the kitchen playing reels out loud on their phones - it was not a good experience. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere!

Overall the rating for this place is 3 at best. Maybe closer to 2.5. I gave them one overall is because they charged me twice.. They bring the machine to the table and run your credit card. Everything seems to be OK at that point.. On your way out, they stop you and tell you that the charge didn't go through.. They run the card one more time.. If you are lucky like me and catch the double charge, you can dispute it and let the CC company deal with it.. CC sends the dispute to the store and if they don't heard back from the store after 45 days, you get your money back.. Which the store hasn't acknowledged it after 35 days in my case. And if you don't catch the double charge, they make double for the service.. They may not do this to everyone unless the charges are above certain amount which worth the risk.. My bill was close to $90.. And I have to say that I paid over 18% tip. it wasn't like I paid no tips and they wanted to get more out of me..
