Great tacos! We come here all the time. The staff is great as well. It's our daughter's favorite restaurant
We are a vegetarian couple and we had the best time here. The staff is friendly, the food is amazing and the prices are reasonable, compared to other places in the area. Highly recommend!
The service is a little slow but the food is authentically delish! The ambience is good and not overcrowded with patrons which is a plus for me! Will definitely be back!! #good customer service is key
Love this place! We've been coming here for a long time and love the family atmosphere. The grilled veggie burrito is delicious (and vegan!). I enjoy the friendly service and views of Cortland Avenue when we eat in, but ordering take out is also very easy. One of our go-to burrito spots!
Wonderful food and excellent service! I had the Chili Verde and it came with "hand made" corn tortillas. Great place, great tasting food! When I'm back in town I will surely make this my number one spot to return to.
When ordering the front-of-house staff was very knowledgeable about which dishes were vegan and what types of animal products were in others. Would recommend as a place to bring a vegan friend, if you’re looking for Mexican fare. Mushroom quesabirria (which can be made vegan) was delicious! Thick & crispy chips and salsa (mild or spicy) while you wait for your order.
Nachos were good. The crispy tacos were very tasty. Didn't care for their shrimp enchiladas. The Verde quesadilla was also very good. The workers are very nice. I got take out so I'm not sure how their wait / table service is.
Was there for lunch today and ordered their taco Tuesday specials so yummy Al pastor n carne asada .. luv the easy casual vibe of this place no long lines no drama.. just yummy food..will be back again for sure
We popped in for a spontaneous breakfast and sat outside with our dogs - the food and service were a delight! I wish we had taken photos to show how beautiful the chorizo tacos, breakfast bowl, chilaquiles, and agua verde (cucumber, spinach, pineapple) were. You can tell every element - even the pickled onions - is made in house by a thoughtful hand. The chips were ridiculously addictive… Please go show this restaurant as much love as they put into their dishes!
My wife is Salvadorean and we eat a lot of burritos. She's the queen of bean rice and cheese style. The ones we ordered we're the best we had ever had and they got the order right just the way we asked!! The mama who took my order was so sweet as well!!
BEST VEGGIE NACHOS EVER!! Veggie’s are immaculate. Chips are sturdy and delicious. Add grilled chicken for a real fun time. You won’t be disappointed. 10/10.
Haven't been to the neighborhood for 20 years, wow what a change. I dig the vibe. Had to kill some hours as The New Wheel was working on my ebike for a few hours (awesome place, highly recommended) and needed to eat lunch. Mexican is my favorite and this place is really tiny and cool. Great straight forward carne asada tacos that seemed really fresh and seasoned perfect. Fresh warm home style chips served with a really nice traditional salsa and a orange Harritos was perfect. Can recommend highly for sure!
Bro this place is just sooooo goood it’s actually like top notch and I would pick it over any other Mexican place in the city
We eat here all the time. Tasty food with large portions at a good price. Service is always friendly. Some of our favorites include the chilaquiles, chicken tinga, and carne asada. Get the homemade tortillas.
I hate to give so many 5-Star reviews, but this place deserves it. Friendly, inexpensive and authentic. The food was great and the service was very attentive. (To be sure, I was here during a slow time, but I imagine they are just as attentive when busy.)
i was worried i called too late to place my order when i called at 7:45, but they welcomed our order and we picked it up at 8:20. thank you so much! the fajitas were flavorful and the handmade tortillas made me so happy ❤️ thank you!
Good quality and clean food at reasonable prices. Taste is mild rather than savory, but this can be good for sensitive stomachs that need gentle food. It was still pretty yummy.
100/10 seriously some of the best Mexican / Spanish food I’ve ever had damn. We ordered the enchiladas Los Altos style, quesabirria off the specials menu, and the asada burrito. All were so epic. Also got some chips and salsa and a small green juice so yum. Homemade chips that are nice and thicc w bubbles in them so fire. This place bussin on god on god respectfully 💯
We were in Bernal Heights looking for a quick bite and decided to try Taco Los Altos and were very pleased with it. My Agua Verde (pineapple, cucumber and spinach) was very good. As well as the chilaquiles, and our little grilled fish taco. But what stood out were the homemade corn tortillas, excellent. Service was very fast and friendly. On a sunny, and not super windy day like it was for us, they have tables outside.
The food is delicious, with lots of veggie options - including mushroom quesabirria! 🤤 My only complaint is the little tiny bit of salsa you get with an order of chips and salsa. It's hard to even get a proper dip bc the container is so small.
Regular pit stop for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Incredible food, great vibes, plenty seating on a sunny block in Bernal. Get the homemade tortillas!
Y'all, these nachos were amazing. Seems that they even fry the nachos to order because they were so fresh. 10/10 would eat again.
This is the best Taco I’ve ever had since I came to San Francisco, and the employee is really friendly to give me the explanation about Mexico food
The chicken taquitos here at the restaurant was amazing! The food was excellently prepared. The chicken taquitos filled me right up. I highly recommend this place. I give them 5 stars ⭐️
Food was excellent, service was friendly, and the space was warm and inviting. Tortillas were fresh and absolutely delicious, a perfect base for a great taco.

Solid neighborhood taqueria, great food and friendly service and always doing something to help. A gem in the neighborhood!
Tacos Los Altos is everything you want in a neighborhood taco spot—authentic, flavorful, and welcoming. From the moment you walk up, you can smell the fresh tortillas and sizzling meats on the plancha. The tacos are generous in size, perfectly balanced, and packed with bold flavors. Favorites like the carne asada and al pastor are always on point, with tender meat, bright salsas, and just the right amount of heat. Beyond the tacos, their menu has a range of classic Mexican comfort food—burritos, quesadillas, and tortas—that never disappoint. The salsa bar is a highlight, offering something for every mood, whether you want smoky, tangy, or spicy. Service is quick, friendly, and makes you feel like part of the community. Prices are more than fair for the quality and portions, and it’s clear they take pride in both their food and hospitality. Whether it’s a quick lunch, late-night bite, or family dinner, Tacos Los Altos is the kind of spot you’ll keep coming back to. It’s not just a taco shop—it’s a neighborhood staple.
The super vegetarian burrito was amazing! A lot of places consider a vegetarian burrito the same as a meat burrito, just without the meat. This super vegetarian burrito was all about amazing vegetables along with all of the best a burrito brings. Everyone was pleasant. We were served quickly. And I just can't wait to go back and try out some of the other dishes there!

Been going for over a decade. Family-friendly. Great food. I love that the veggie options include vegetables, and not simply an absence of meat. The portions are ample.
Reliable restaurant with adequate portions, tasty food, and reasonably priced. Good choice for comfort food. Can be busy at times but the owner is always trying to please her customers.
No hot sauce or vegetable bar so less comprehensive than a fully legit Mexican place. That being said, decent prices (12 dollars for a super burrito, charge 1.50 for chips and salsa) and good service. Burrito was lacking a bit in flavor but good overall. Solid 3.5
Friendly folks. Good service. I love the local businesses. One of a few places in the area open on a Sunday afternoon. Lucky for us. Two tacos each at Tacos Los Altos is a lot of food for a late lunch when dinnertime is normally between 5 and 6pm. They really pile it on too. The first basket of chips is free. Every subsequent basket is $1, according to the menu.
As far as Mexican food restaurants in S. F. go, this isn't my favorite. Their portions are not consistent, and the meat is generally over cooked (which is not the end of the world, I know). Overall, I recommend it for how accessible it is and for being the only Mexican food on Cortland.
New to BH neighborhood and stopped in after a morning of painting to grab a quick lunch. Had tacos, torte and burrito and all were very good. Associate who served us was genuinely friendly, professional and efficient...service industry trifecta. Will return soos.
I must have walked by this place a hundred times before giving it a try today. Why today? I have no idea, it must have been the combination of trying a new place and eating by myself. What I like about this place, they take their time and make the food fresh, there is not this typical rush as you get in other taco places. The arrangement of the tables is a bit sterile and could use some interior make over but aside that, the service is warm friendly and the food while not the most Mexican you can fund the quality of the food is really good and very reasonably priced. The portions are rather healthy so be bring some appetite. I tried their shrimp quesadilla, guacamole and taco with lengua . The shrio taco was sublime, could use some spices but food quality was but up for it. The lengua was delicious and melted on my tongue. Next time I wouldn't go for a super taco as it's rather messy to eat and bit overloaded. I happy I gave this place a try
Really nice place, very friendly, and fast service as well,

Who puts the rice and beans INSIDE THE TACOS??? I was so sad I'd been craving tacos since I'd been in Thailand for 2 weeks and they put the rice and beans INSIDE instead of on the side so I could not eat the taco itself. 4 stars because they cooked their al pastor on the spit AND the tortillas were homemade AND the rice and beans were very yummy. -1 star because again why would you do that to me 😭
i've been coming here for their seafood tacos. It's really hard to find good seafood tacos outside of Mexico. It's a really good product!

I am writing this as constructive feedback...We got the the Enchiladas and the fish tacos. The mole sauce tasted somehow off like it was not fresh or maybe old. The fish tacos also did not taste fresh, as if the food was made a day or so ago and then rewarmed. Even the taco smelled slightly off somehow like sour. Its a place to go when in a pinch and I am open to trying other meals. Perhaps it was an off day. The service was quick and staff very nice.
Super expensive for what the food is actually worth! I ordered a shrimp burrito, but I felt like the service was slow & the price was way too high compared to many other authentic Mexican places in SF. The atmosphere was okay, but it could definitely be made homier and warmer!
The food is okay, but the service needs work. I had to flag someone down to take my order after sitting for about 20 minutes. There were no chips or other gratis appetizer. There was a mint provided with the bill, but if you don't take it when you provide the credit card, they take the candy back. That was weird.
Food is pretty good, very much overpriced but good quality. However, this place always charges me $3-5 more than the price on my receipt. The receipt and bank statement are never the same.
Pretty flavourless super carne asada burrito for $16.50. A very small portion of guacamole in the super burrito, the salsa did a decent job of adding some flavour but overall.. not a good burrito by SF standards and pricing whatsoever. Won't be back
Took me eight years to try this place, fortunately I wasn’t missing much, the food was just ok, not terrible but I won’t be recommending considering how much competition/options there is in the area. I tried the carne asada taco, al pastor taco, a side of rice, beans, and chips. The rice and beans were good, best thing I had.

Pretty mid food, if I’m being honest. We came here for taco Tuesday, which is a great deal, but the food doesn’t impress enough for me to come back any other day of the week. The meat is dry and bland, the tacos were small and cold, and they skimp on salsa (the most important part of the taco!). If you want dinner for $8, then absolutely come here on a Tuesday, but don’t expect anything great.

Cute location but that's where the positives end. Food was subpar and overpriced. Especially considering there are other taquerias in the area with better food and better prices. Tacos came out cold and so greasy they were falling apart already. Salsa wasn't very good. Service was poor.
Ordered a burrito with sour cream and instead of putting it on the burrito , they gave me a small thing of sour cream which wasn’t even enough for my whole burrito.

Horrible, immediately after I ate I had diarrhea and when I told my wife she told me never eat there a couple of her sons friends used to work there and they said they are dirty, they drop meat on the ground and pick up and serve it, don't wash thier hands, DIRTY! The Worst Mexican Food!!!!
My nacho chips tasted like they were around a heavy smoker, which was quite unappealing. I was there at the time indicated when it said ready and the food was cold. It was almost as if this establishment packaged up already cooked rice and just added a couple warm things, threw the whole mess on a skillet for an inadequate amount of time and packaged it up. I worked in food service. This was not right. Second time here too and both times were disappointing. I would definitely not recommend.
Ordered a bean and cheese burrito with extra lettuce and sour cream to go. Takes twenty minutes to get my order. When I later unwrap my order at home, I find that it is literally just a lettuce and sour cream buritto. They took twenty minutes to put lettuce and sour cream in a tortilla. It was not crowded and they charged me $9. Never again Los Altos!
