Had a wonderful time with my son. Delicious finger sandwiches and the scone was spot on. Magda was attentive and friendly 😊It is best to make reservations if you want to sit inside but the Parklet is just as fine as well since we did not have a reservation. It was cozy and nice. We were not forgotten out there. Would come here again👍👍👍👍👍 prices vary depending what you want expect to pay $20-40 per person
Funky and adorable at the same time. Food was delicious and draws a pretty good crowd. The vibe is closer to Noe Valley / Haight, not like The Rotunda, and the prices are much more reasonable. If you’re into tea rooms, definitely give it a try.
A whimsical tearoom offering excellent tea (especially the Darjeeling) and tasty sandwiches, scones and desserts. You can choose between inside and outside seating, the indoors can be a bit noisy. You'll need e reservation, the place is popular. The cream for the scones is really good. Enjoy!
Been passing this place for years but as my friend and I were cruising we realized we have free will and should just stop and finally go on. This place is absolutely lovely, the tea selection was great there were a bunch of options for everyone's taste, I got the current scone with jam and fresh butter and it was the good stuff. I also got jam and cream cheese sandwiches because I'm jam crazy. We sat outside and it was protected from the wind, we weren't cold even though it wasn't sunny. Outside seating is nice but if you should want to sit inside you should make a reservation and plan ahead. This is a popular place for a reason.
Lovejoy is a sweet and welcoming tea room, not stuffy as some high teas can be.The ambience is bohemian! The menu is varied and many teas available. Highly recommend.
I celebrated my 30th birthday here with my husband. I made a reservation for a Thursday at 11 am and there was already a line forming. It’s a super popular restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu was extensive and we had a lot to choose from. I picked the Queens Tea service with black currant tea, fruit, salad, cookies, a scone with Devonshire cream and jam, crumpet, & Tuna sandwiches, salmon and cream cheese as well. I would love to try the Branston and pickle one next time! We also ordered the Shepards pie which really took me back to my childhood. All the food was delicious, fresh, & came in a timely manner. The staff were friendly, and the vibe was immaculate. I also appreciated the candy in the bathroom lol. Great birthday overall!
Had a wonderful meal and tea room experience here today. The owner and staff are so friendly and upbeat. The food was delightful and I would definitely come here again for a relaxing and fun tea experience. The gift shop has wonderful unique items also. Thank you!
Lovejoy's, it's in the name❣ We have been coming to Lovejoy's since the early 90's, it was a favorite place to bring my grandmother whenever she would come to visit. Just had the loveliest afternoon tea yesterday with a friend for her birthday, her first time, it was perfect!! 👑🍰 I have taken my son when he was younger to celebrate Valentine's day, have hosted baby showers for friends, celebrated various friends pending nuptials over the years, and just the occasional afternoon tea with family, or out of town visitors. Every experience has been outstanding, the staff at Lovejoy's is always more than accomodating, gracious and delightful. The staff at Lovejoy's always goes out of their way to make your time there magical, delicious and festive. My now almost 13 year old son and his friends ask, when can we go back to Lovejoy's?!? As long as Lovejoy's stands, we will be back again and again. ❣❣❣❣
This is a lovely tea room with great selection of tea and snacks. They have great tea sets but you have to make sure you make reservation for it. They also provide many hats which you can wear during your visit so you feel like kings and queens and royalties while enjoying your high tea. So even though it is not the most fancy and luxury place, it sure makes you feel luxurious with the price you spent. They are very affordable.
A fun and whimsical place for a high tea. Dress up encouraged, but not required. A great option for a kids birthday or baby shower. Service and food were excellent. Conveniently located at Church and Clipper stop on the J metro line.
Lovejoy's Tea Room was an amazing experience. I enjoyed the sandwiches, the scones, and the tea. I had so much fun talking with my friends while enjoying tea. The place is decorated so well that it fits with the whole aesthetic of high tea. Although it's a bit on the pricey end, it was a wonderful experience. The staff are so helpful and friendly.
Wow! High tea has been a on my bucket list for awhile and Lovejoy was beyond my wildest dreams!! The atmosphere so unique and quirky. The food was so yummy with really fun sandwich options. We had the best time ever.
Oh my goodness gracious. I wish I would have known about this place sooner!! And all the raving reviews about their scones and crumpets?? TRUE!! They are the most delicious things I've ever tasted in my entire life!! And I'm usually not a fan!! My fiancee and I came here for my birthday and shared the Queen's tea, but added another scone and crumpet for the two of us and we were pretty full (just for reference). I am literally counting down the hours to come back because I cannot get enough of everything!! The food, the wonderful staff, all the pretty things!!😍😍
Great place for a girl’s date! The smoked salmon sandwich was delicious but I probably would switch out my chicken apple salad sandwich with a different one. The sandwiches were very simple and nothing too fancy, but the scones were incredible. My table got 3 herbal teas: Vanilla Rooibos, Forest Berries and Rose Hips, and Blood Orange. All were delicious but my favorite was the Forrest Berries and Rose Hips. High tea was enough food, we didn’t leave hungry. We bought truffles at the end, which were very good.
Specifically chose this spot to celebrate my 70th. Have been several times over the years, they never disappoint. Decor, ambience, service and delightful delectables - oh, my 🤗 Brought my fam, including 2 brothers (all 1st time Afternoon Tea folk), and all were impressed as I have consistently been. My 70th Birthday Tea was the crowning glory to 3-days of family mayhem and mischief, we laughed, reminisced and celebrated. The folks at Lovejoy's totally made it happen for me and mine. Down to my special petit four with a candle.

This tea room is super cute and the atmosphere is amazing. The servers are very friendly and helpful. We got the light tea service, and the tea + snacks were yummy. I learned that I'm not a huge fan of tea sandwiches, but that's not their fault. They have heavier meal options as well if you're more hungry. I would definitely bring a friend here for a birthday or a daytime celebration. If they're fully booked, get on their notify waitlist--we were on their list and we ended up getting 2 notifications for tables that opened up last minute!
I had the best birthday party here with my family and friends. The staff were so friendly and sweet, they even gave me extra sweets ☺️ The interior is so beautiful and well decorated, you can tell there is a lot of love put into this place. It felt like I was in England again. Definitely would love to visit again. I 100% recommend this place for any gathering <3
Best afternoon tea and scones in SF Peppermint tea was perfectly brewed! Huge thanks to Magda for squeezing us in last minute, just a heads up they stop serving at 3 but close at 5!
We just love this place! We had our first date in this tea room. It was officially closed but the owners let us order teas anyway so we stayed and had a wonderful time. Some love potion must have been added to the mix because now we’re happily married! We visited Florence and the tea room again. It’s still as friendly and cozy as the first time. Wonderful customer service and fantastic menu options. A happy place in Florence, OR
This had been on our SF bucket list for a long time and finally went there over the winter holidays a few years ago with my wife and 3 year-old. It was worth the wait. When you walk in, it feels like British tea culture got sprayed all over the walls. You can't really avoid seeing some memorabilia no matter where you look, and it's pretty over the top awesome. They have an elaborate but not overwhelming menu of different combinations with various teas, savory finger sandwiches (with the crust cut off of course), pastries, fruit and everything else you can imagine for tea time. They even had an adorable "Wee Tea" for the little ones, and my daughter enjoyed some hot chocolate with whipped cream as her "tea'" with some tasty cream cheese sandwiches, strawberries and pastries. Service was terrific, lovely people there. Definitely recommended, put it on your bucket list.
My favorite place for high tea in San Francisco. Food is delicious, I love that they serve crumpets, and the service is so friendly. The highlight is their antique china cups, plates and saucers from all over the world - super eclectic and fun.
We had our tea in the outside covered area. It was kinda windy outside but not in, the tables were decorated just like inside. It was fun there and I’d recommend trying outdoors if you can. Food was excellent as well as the teas.
My husband and I got the queens tea service. Everything was delicious and fresh. I enjoyed it all but the scone with the cream and preserves that came with it were outstanding. I enjoyed the ambiance and decor as well. We had a lovely time! Would definitely go back.
Vibe in! Nice place to sit down and have a couple of tea and just catting with friends and chill!
Had an amazing time. It was rainy day and ours was an outdoor reservation. However the outdoor space is entirely covered from wind and rain and it extremely cozy. In fact it was amazing sitting under a transparent roof while it’s raining and having hot pots of teas with my friends! And the service is amazing too, from the reservation to the food service they’re extremely accommodating. Loved it!
I’ve been here too many times to count but it’s always a lovely experience! Definitely my favorite place for high tea - with highlights being their delicious sandwiches, scone, petit fours and of course the tea! Just took my daughter for the first time for her 9th birthday and she absolutely loved it!
Whimsy, cute high tea with delicious sandwiches, seasonal teas, and desserts. Reservations highly recommended, which can be done on their website. I went to Lovejoy's for their "Queen's (high) tea" on a weekday for a friend's birthday, and it was absolutely lovely. We had a seasonal candy cane black tea and a green ginseng tea, along with a giant three-tiered tray of sandwiches, scones with Devonshire cream and lemon curd and jam, salads, cookies, and fruit. Finally, you get a choice of yummy desserts when you're finished; I highly recommend the lemon marzipan. The service was impeccable and attentive, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I will be recommending this to everyone who shares my love of high tea! It looks like they are pretty booked up on weekends, but if you can make it, it's much easier to make a reservation on a weekday.
A large variety of teas. They have outdoor seating. Nice plates, teacups, and food presentation. Three different kinds of scones, nice and warm. Option for kids tea and sharing a tea. But probably you want your own so you can try more teas! You can order to go, including bulk orders for scones. Buying the teas to go is a good deal as they will last a while. Bring a friend and stay a while enjoying your tea! Outdoor seating has been moved so some of it's not directly on Church which makes for a quieter and more peaceful experience.
Have been coming here for a variety of occasions for years, from my sister's baby shower to just tea with friends. The food is impeccable, the staff are courteous, it absolutely feels like you're being transported. One of the few places that makes a proper scone! Their tea list is extensive and you'll not only find your mainstay but creative varietals as well. Easy to find free street parking. I definitely recommend a reservation because their reservation window per table is 2 hours, so even if it looks half empty when you walk in, there is a very good chance those empty tables are already reserved. Call them in advance.
Amazing little tea shop for all ages. I brought my two girls and we had a wonderful time. A side note, I am very picky about scones, so I typically don't like them as they're too hard and/or dry. These scones are the best I've had! Perfectly balanced and delicious.
Delicious food and tea at an affordable price, and the kindest staff and owners. And the decor is so whimsical and charming!
I took my 93yr old mother 90yr old great aunt and sister-in-law here today for a wonderful afternoon tea. The service was impeccable and all of the staff were extremely attentive and friendly making the experience extraordinary. We we definitely be returning soon.
Absolutely love this place! Lovejoy's has been around for a long time. Although the place seems a little cramped, it's still a pleasure to have tea time here. The tea quality is great; the scone is by far the best I've tasted; the sandwiches are delicious as well. There is an antique tea shop across the street from the tea room. The shop sells a nice selection of tea. Even if you don't buy anything, it's fun to just look around before or after you enjoy your tea time at Lovejoy's. Reservation is recommended, especially on the weekend.
My first time. Was fun . Felt like a queen for a day. Lol. Amazing teas. Drank more tea that day than I have in the last 3 years.
Wow, LoveJoy Tea really knows how to throw a fancy pants tea party! I recently had the pleasure of indulging in their Queen's Tea and let me tell you, it was a royal treat. Not only was the tea selection charming, but the food was absolutely scrumptious. I'm talking dainty sandwiches and delectable desserts galore. But the real standout was the atmosphere. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, it really added to the overall experience. I left feeling pampered and rejuvenated. If you're in the mood for a spot of tea and some lighthearted fun, I highly recommend LoveJoy Tea. It's a charming spot that's not to be missed.
Lovejoy’s is one of my very favorite places to go. I always feel like a queen when I’m there. Their sandwiches and their baked goods are so scrumptious and always served with such delight and of course, a big pot of steaming tea.
Relaxing little tearoom unlike others- Come in for a Queen's Tea complete with tiny sandwiches, scones and petite delights presented artfully at your table. This is a unique place.
When you want to indulge in a high tea anglophile fantasy, book a tea service for two or with the whole family. The shepherd's pie is extreme comfort food eating as sport! The cream tea comes with a warm scone, fruit, clotted cream, jam and a fragrant pot of tea. Indulgent and so British, with a San Francisco accent. Support this neighborhood tea room and meet some amazing locals and staff. The Attic across the street sells vintage bone china, tea wares from the 30's, 40's and bagged tea to take home. Overall, a delight.
Really lovely! Emphasis on British paraphernalia threw me off a bit, but the food was tasty and the tea was delightful. Accomodated our vegan friends well, though it woukd have been nice if the soy milk and the dairy milk came in differentiable containers.
Got the Queen's Tea set. It came with: *A choice of 2 sandwiches (I opted for Smoked Turkey & Dijon Mustard; and Chicken-Apple-Walnut Salad). YUMMY *Organic spring salad with balsamic dressing *Scone with devonshire cream and raspberry preserves (scone was perfectly buttery with a bit of crisp at the bottom) *Crumpet with lemon curd (I usually don't like lemon curd, but this was just right in terms of sweet and sour) *Fruit salad (pineapples, blueberries, strawberries, watermelon and kiwi--quite a bounty and of good quality) *Shortbread biscuit *Choice of petit four (I went for the bittersweet chocolate petit four -- very chocolaty with a hint of almond essence) *Pot of tea -- went for the decaf version of Lady Grey tea that had bits of dried apricot. Service was excellent -- my pot of tea was definitely "bottomless" as advertised since they kept refilling it. Food was top notch and so plentiful that I took leftovers home and had it for breakfast the next day. IMHO, this is unquestionably best place in all of California for High Tea in terms of price, value and ambience. Nothing comes close in SoCal.
Lovejoy's is a favorite spot for a laid back, cozy high tea in the English manner. Whether meeting up with girlfriends there, treating god daughters to a special occassion, or simply going there by myself with a good book on a cold, wet day, Lovejoy's is so good for the spirit and the pocket book.
Wow! What a delightful experience. I had the "queens tea" with cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches. All the food that came with was delicious (sandwiches, scones, salad, fruit, cookie, crumpet, dessert). The tea was amazing - I had the Black Vanilla with Lavender and loved it. Plenty of refills. I left very stuffed and satisfied. The waitress was lovely - very attentive in the best way possible and friendly.
I have been coming here for years. Its always an amazing experience. It's cozy, the service is superb and the amount of food you get is well worth the price. I have been to many tea rooms and NOTHING and I mean NOTHING is as good as lovejoys. I frequent many a tea room, including many in England and those do not hold a flame to Lovejoys. The service, food, atmosphere and endless tea selection make this the best tearoom anywhere. Thank you Lovejoys
Had such a wonderful time bringing my girlfriend here for her birthday! Staff was delightful and helpful, food and tea were amazing, and the ambiance was so special. Make sure to check out the sister shop across the street and book in advance!
Eclectic and creative space, with the most amazing kind service! Tea was delicious as was the hot cocoa! Sandwiches, crumpets, lemon curd, scones, petit fours were all divine. Made for an amazing holiday tea with my family.

Got the cream tea set. The scones were amazing with the jam and Devon cream. My sister got her own set too. Decor very cute and eclectic. Love the layered trays they use. The tea itself is nice, but the tea leaves are just left in the pot, so by the bottom half, the leaves make the rest of the tea really bitter. Would be nice if they had it so you could remove the tea leaves from the pot when you desired, so I could enjoy the whole pot.
I've been to many tea houses but none has ever taken Lovejoy's place as my favorite. I have been coming here with friends and family for years now and I don't think I've ever been disappointed. It's fun, charming, and quirky. The tea, sandwiches, and petit fours are delicious. They have plenty of options and even have a kid's menu, which my nieces love. Reservations are a must during the weekend as they are always busy with baby and bridal showers. Even the weekdays can get busy depending on the time of year. There's only street parking so would highly recommend public transportation or carpooling.
Have been to this place of tea heaven 5 times over the past 20 years. It never fails to make a joyful impression. Our light tea was delicious and elegantly presented. Can’t wait to come back!
Had a lovely high tea experience with my friends here. We were lucky to reach around opening time on a Saturday and get a walk-in table, because the tables fill up pretty quick. The selection of finger sandwiches and tea is excellent. We opted for Queen’s tea package, with two sandwiches of our choice and bottomless pot of tea. Black currant tea tasted great and our favorite was the cucumber and tea finger sandwich. Desserts in the end were nice too.
Great place to spend a hour or two. Lots of different teas to choose from, love their finger sandwiches, at least 10 different kinds to choose from. Their scones are delicious with the clotted cream and jam to spread on. It's my favorite tea room in San Francisco. I've been a couple of times and have not been disappointed. I highly recommend the "Queen's tea". I've paid more than double at other places, and they were not worth it.
Amazing food and service. Generous portions. Friendly, helpful, delicious. Scones are light and airy, and Raspberry jam/coulis out of this world. We took everything "take out" and had a lovely tea at home. If I could give ten stars I would!

Good services. We went in with a party of 12 people and the staff were very helpful and communicative with the reservation. The sandwiches and the scones are great, but the sweets are mediocre. We also don't get a selection of our own tea and the tea was very bland - possibly due to a meager amount of tea leaves provided in each pot.
Wonderful and affordable more savory focused English afternoon tea experience! My friend and I had a reservation for Sunday at 12:45pm. We both opted for the Queens tea which comes with your choice of 2 types of sandwiches, some greens, cabbage salad, a scone, a crumpet, fresh fruit, and one dessert. For teas, we selected the china rose petal and apricot. I preferred the apricot while my friend preferred china rose petal so as far as tea selection I don't think you can go wrong. For our sandwiches, I went with the chicken apple walnut and smoked salmon and cream cheese while my friend opted for the pear and stilton and the smoked salmon and cream cheese. All the sandwiches were delicious! Although their menu mentions Petit fours, they'll actually come by with a larger selection of desserts. It was hard to pick just one but my friend went with a red velvet chocolate truffle and I chose a pink heart shaped Petit four. Good tea overall but definitely targeted towards those who prefer savory over sweets.
Quirky and fun tea time experience! The food was homemade and fresh, the tea selection was very impressive and the vibe of the outdoor seating and mismatching tea sets was very cute. As a Brit, I would say there are some unconventional/untraditional aspects to the menu but it’s probably still the closest thing you’ll get to a proper afternoon tea in the Bay Area, and we really enjoyed it overall.

My first time and had a fun experience. Interesting mix of china, tea pots etc. Slightly eclectic interior keeps it interesting, attentive server added to the experience. Delicious scones, cookies and finger food. The only little drawback for me was it was a little pricy. Bathroom was cleaner than I expected. Overall it was a nice experience with my family. I'd probably visit more often if it was slightly less expensive, but hey, it's S.F.
This place was fantastic, their scones are to die for. I went here for my birthday and had a great time. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because it smells a little funny when you first walk in. Quickly after being there you don't notice anymore but it was off putting at first. It definitely has an old lady style interior.
Lovely and unique experience of classic tea time. Everything was wonderful except things were a little slow to come out. Not a complaint since our teapots were bottomless and the food was delightful, just advise to anyone who doesn't know. Expect to relax here for awhile and enjoy the atmosphere~
Probably one of my favorite places in the city, everything about this place is fabulous! The atmosphere is quaint cozy and a little crazy in places 😜but everyone from the hostess to the cook is a delight! And the scones.... omg the scones!!! Absolutely To Die For. If you're planning to drop in, chances of getting a table on a weekday are good depending upon the time, but on a weekend- reservations are a must! Don't forget to bring your fancy English hat! But if you did don't worry, they have some on loan here! ♥️♥️♥️
Make sure you get a reservation, especially if you plan to come during the weekend as it's usually packed and often fully booked. Lovely kitschy retro atmosphere with very cute decor and cozy seating. The Queen's Tea was more food than I was expecting and my friend and I were both full afterwards. Service was lovely and the menu is straightforward. It's a nice treat for a cute lunch outing and special occasion. Lovejoy's Attic is right across the street if you arrive a bit early for your reservation and want to browse. You can try tea in the tea room and then purchase it in the Tea Cellar at Lovejoy's Attic. The chocolate black tea was alright but the House Blend was lovely. Sandwiches were a standout. The roast beef and horseradish was particularly good.
Great afternoon tea and of course, being from Yorkshire myself, I highly approve that Yorkshire Gold was at the top of the list of choices! Had the Queen's High Tea b cause I wanted to try the crumpets as well as the rest. The food was excellent quality, scones were the best I've had in my 5 years in the USA. I've never seen a plate of fruit or salad on an afternoon tea in the UK but they were really tasty too. Only complaint would be that the bottomless tea was the same tea leaves, just topped up with hot water meaning the second pot was weak - no real Brit would do that. Also, while a lot of people will appreciate the decor, I found it way over the top. Like when you go into and Irish pub and there's more harps around that one bar than in the whole of Ireland.....
cute and great tea and awesome decor but the food sucks- the spreads on the sandwiches were very miserly (little) and the ratio of filling to bread was totally off. scones and tea biscuits were dry, the salad was nothing special, the mandarin oranges tasted like out of a can. $48 per person for the high tea + tax + 20% tip! not going back because the cost to return ratio sucks
Super adorable! The decor and ambiance of the restaurant looked like it was straight out of Alice in Wonderland. The waitresses were super sweet and helpful with picking out our teas. The Queen’s tea service was so cute and way more filling than we expected but in a very good way! They were able to provide really nice vegan options for their tea service as well which we really appreciated. The only negative was that we had two people in our party not able to make it. About 10 minutes into our service the manager, or owner, came over and scolded us about their cancellation policy and pressed to know why they were not able to make it. While I understand they have a certain policy it felt extremely inappropriate for her to scold us to that extent and made us feel very unwelcome for the rest of our service. Additionally, we did not cancel our reservation and it is not fair for her to direct anger towards the rest of my party for something that was fully out of our control. Again, I understand they have a certain policy but it would have been much more appropriate to have brought up any issues at the end of our service so that we wouldn’t have felt so uncomfortable for the rest of our time there.
I’m sorry to have to give such a terrible review but when we arrived it was so cold inside the tea room that we had to ask if they could turn up the heat. She said the building is so old that there is no heat so they brought a space heater and set it up about 6 feet away from us. I felt like I was in a thrift store full of odd quirky things , None of it was attractive or beautifully displayed. The service was mediocre with unfriendly waitresses that look like they came in from a hike in the mountains with their boots and sweatshirts. The tea sandwiches were dry bread and boring flavor, the scones were amazing and you had to purchase separately desserts. After driving 2 1/2 hours to get to Lovejoy‘s we were extremely disappointed in the ambience and experience. Next time we will stick closer to home
Went here for my birthday. Our server was terrible, but the food and tea were delicious. Our server was very impatient; she walked away from our table WHILE WE WERE STILL TALKING TO HER over 3 times when we had questions about the menu. We ordered several items from the menu and everything but two didn't come out, so we asked our server. She was very defensive, had an attitude then ended up swapping with another server without our knowledge. Most likely not coming back because of the rude service.
