As good as the front staff is...DEFENSE wins championships...and the babes in the back are carrying this tucked away restsurant...I can't speak enough wellness on this joint, from rizz to energy. Everyone is on point. I bless you with the upmost rizz and I hope everyone tries real creole here...bless..
The food is great. The fried chicken was nice and crispy. The breast was juicy. The fried pickles were delicious. The mini cornbread muffins were bomb. Etc. Around great. Would recommend a reservation just in case. They were busy but were able to seat us out side without a reservation.
Sweet little divey spot. Best dang fried pickles I’ve ever had in my entire life. The hush puppies were to die for. The margaritas were delicious! The service was pleasant and not overwhelming which is always nice. Can’t wait to come back to this cute little spot! 10/10
Headline: Brunch takes the cake (or the biscuit.) I love a good brunch and when I can find another great little spot I will also count my blessings! The Front Porch fits the bill as a southern comfort food standout. The restaurant looks like a tiny spot with outdoor seating and what looks like a small indoor area but when you get in, it is quite surprising with a booth designed for a larger party and other ample seating areas. We were a large group without any reservations but thankfully they were able to fit us in within a few minutes thanks to our arrival in the twilight of brunch period. The menu had a lot of tasty options but this occasion I decided to go with the stoner sandwich and tots and the lovely wife went with the Eggs Benedict. The stoner sandwich was great but quite messy looking so I ate with a fork and it was definitely satisfying. PROTIP: ask for extra seasoning on your tots and you will get the tots the way their were meant to be consumed. Overall everyone seem to enjoy their food. Their drinks are also top notch with great cocktail choices and mimosas. Finally, not to be left out but the staff was extremely friendly, attentive and from what I can tell very friendly to their regulars. First time here but no plans for it to be my last!
Tasty! Although honestly the portions were smaller than expected, especially for a southern restaurant -- but it's also SF, so idk. The chicken and waffles were filling, and the hype about the Mac and cheese is understandable (although not as good as Homeroom according to my partner, he's a big fan of Mac and we visited here for his bday). The muffins are TINY lol (see pic), so price makes sense for the quantity I guess? The bready sides were solid, and the apple jam was quite tasty (preferred over the rosemary better). With tip, about $100 for 2 The service is phenomenal! Friendly and attentive with drink refills. The decor is fun and nice too, so the cost could be worth the experience if you care about these more than food. We had leftovers, but probably could've finished everything They also have a deal for apps and drinks until the 20th (?), and I believe it was a couple dollars off 1hr after open? Sunday-Thurs! We went on a Monday evening around open and it was not busy at all
The Front Porch is one of the hidden gems of classic San Francisco. They have a creative cocktail list, and a New Orleans style comfort food menu. The fried chicken is crispy and delicious. I also love the shrimp & grits, collards and oh so satisfying mac and cheese! They have vegan options done very well. This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants that we always go back to. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable and fun. Just like your own front porch.
I have been in years and I can’t explain why. Still the best fried chicken in the city. Cozy fun friendly neighborhood joint the chicken biscuits and greens were sublime. Fantastic cheesecake btw. Not too sweet.
I love the front porch. It may in fact, be one of my top favorite San Francisco restaurants.I come here with large groups of friends and for one on one conversations. I’m a big fan of the fried chicken and frankly think it’s the best in San Francisco. Also their mashed potatoes mac & cheese and collards are phenomenal. Their menu changes regularly, but they always have the staple of the fried chicken. If you’re lucky you’ll come on a night when there’s a gem salad or fried pickles. They make great cocktails. I love the okey-dokey artichoke and the Porch swing. One time I ventured out and tried a drink I didn’t like - and they replaced the drink no questions asked. The atmosphere is homie with a little bit of old school vibes. The staff are amazing and very welcoming. I never was a big Dessert person until I ate the pecan pie here!
Their fried chicken is delicious. The sides are also very tasty - especially the little gem salad and fried okra. The drinks are very well crafted. Would recommend. 5 stars.
The Front Porch offers a wonderful dining experience with comforting, flavorful dishes and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The food is thoughtfully prepared using high-quality ingredients, and the service is friendly and attentive. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy a delicious meals highly recommended!
Legit Southern food depending on what part of the South you're from. Some gluten-free options. The greens are great, most of the mains are really tasty. Great staff and stocked bar. It's in a cute neighborhood. There's some nice stores nearby. If you're not sure what to order, ask the staff. They're very nice. They'll help you find what you need.
So everyone knows now that I am a foodie. I have been here several times without posting a picture of my food. Today I purposely am doing so because this place although hidden away by a alley is a gem in the Mission area. I arrived around 6p.m after my Art Gallery event in Castro. It was packed only seating was @ the bar, I ordered a charbroiled Angus burger with loads of blue cheese with Cajun fries. I also order a refreshing and unusual cocktail with bitters called "Respect your Elders" made with Elderflowers and European bitters . It was so disarmingly good and subtle. That burger was perfectly done with all the fixings and a variety of hot sauces on the side, those fries were crispy and delicious. I was pleasantly full. Next time I got to try the fried chicken with Mac & cheese and collard greens on the side. The patron next to me said it also is delicious. I would give this restaurant a 10 just for the food but, the staff and owners get some love for making people feel welcomed.
Came here before clubbing one night w a friend and gotta say, perfect way to start off a night. The atmosphere & vibes of the place were so comforting yet aesthetically pleasing. Did lit with the only lights coming from the bar/a little lamp on your table. We ordered their fried chicken with collard greens and mash potatoes as well as their hush puppies as a starter. Both were insanely good, especially the hush puppies. We also got the "respect your elders" and the "porch swing" (which we asked to make a little sweeter) and both were so delicious as well. Paired very well with our food & was a heavy pour! Would love to come back again and try more.
If you’re on a quest for fried goodness, look no further than The Front Porch! This charming spot serves up fried pickles that are the perfect balance of crispy and tangy, making them an addictive appetizer—you might just find yourself ordering seconds! And then there’s the fried chicken. Oh, sweet poultry perfection! With a golden crust that crackles with each bite and juicy meat that’s reminiscent of Sunday dinners at Grandma's, it's comfort food at its finest. Grab your friends, but be warned: you might just end up fighting over the last crispy piece! Fingers crossed they have extra!
First time here and will definitely come back! The food was AMAZING! ordered the Dr. Pepper braised short rib with grits and collard greens, and also the sweet tea braised pork chop with navy bean rice and cauliflowerini. Recommend both! Had the sweet tea that was sweetened with agave, delicious! The fried pickles are a must along with the beignets! The vibe was adorable. Definitely gives the southern feels and mood! Service was 5 stars all around!!!!
Great small local neighborhood restaurant celebrating their 20th with a 20 percent discount. Friendly staff, the owner also waiters and was super friendly. They have a full bar, and the decoration resembles a Louisiana style. Their famous dish is their fried chicken, which can be served with waffles. Worth a visit for sure.
The environment and attentive staff echoed Southern hospitality in such a nostalgic way, which made up for how the food mostly just made me miss living in the South. The fried chicken had a lovely crisp but was too dry inside, the collards had an odd sour tang (I suspect too much vinegar), and the mac and cheese felt like it was missing a little love/cheese. I adored the arugula salad though -- the fruit in there was clearly fresh and brightened up the salad.
The food was okay, nothing stood out. I had the vegan chilaquiles with soyrizo. Additional toppings like onions, avocado, etc, would have been nice. It was literally chips and soyrizo, which wasn't very satisfying. My friend had the chicken and waffles and seemed to enjoy it. The service was attentive and friendly; however, I had a Groupon that they failed to honor. I let them know I had it, and the server said she would credit my bill, but she never did. I ended up paying extra for a meal not worth the pricetag (with Groupon included). I emailed the business to let them know of the issue, but they did not respond. Overall, okay place, but that situation left a sour taste in my mouth; I don't think I'd return, and I don't recommend purchasing a Groupon for them.
