It was the best experience of my life, I absolutely loved the place and vibe , what an amazing team here , food was fantastic and the margaritas are delicious. Our server was so amazing he kept coming and entertaining us with jokes and made my husband laugh. Fast service and beautiful decor of the restaurant and table settings . Chips and salsa are so good too . The flan is out of the world .
The beef chimichanga is delicious ! Drinks are good and strong. Will be back for sure.
Havent been back since cv19 till this week and it’s still fantastic. The relleno, enchiladas and burrito combo I always is still epic. I also highly recommend the chimichanga and Cadillac margarita. If you’re by yourself just sit at the bar, order a stiff drink / food… and let the nostalgia of this neighborhood institution wash over you
Very good service, nice ambience. Food is excellent. This is 1 of the burritos. When u order you get 2. I split with my date. I would recommend.
Tia Margarita is a must-visit! The margaritas are simply the best—perfectly balanced and refreshing. The authentic Mexican dishes are bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the vibrant atmosphere makes for a fantastic dining experience. We go almost every week and always look forward to it. Highly recommend!
They had all the tasty options I expect from a Mexican restaurant. We went for dinner and sat outside (with a reservation). Staff was friendly and helpful. The portions were huge and very tasty - I had the taquito, enchilada, and burrito and my wife had the chimichanga. Everything was excellent - I especially liked the shredded beef.
One of the best Mexican restaurants in the city. The margaritas are delicious as well as the food. Service is tops and the atmosphere is nice, both inside and outside.

Love this spot! One of the few sit down Mexican restaurants that is really authentic. Obviously great margaritas too!
Over the past few year’s, Tia’s has become our favorite regular spot in SF. The staff knows us (and our very vocal dog Freddie Mercury…) and takes such good care of us. There is literally no other establishment here where we feel as welcome. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere warm and fun, and everyone we take here just loves it. Can’t wait to continue visiting for years to come.
We love this spot. Tonight we had Omar for the first time and he did such a wonderful job! He was attentive, patient, and even great with our kids. Another great night at Tias - thanks Omar!
I live in New Jersey and when I visit my father, we always visit here for dinner. It’s so good. Great food and margaritas. Staff are very kind and give great service
I had such a great experience at Tia Margarita. The moment you walk in, you feel the warm, old-school charm—like a true neighborhood spot that’s been loved for generations. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seems to care about making sure you’re taken care of. The food is incredible. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, and you can tell the recipes have real history behind them. The margaritas are exactly what you want—smooth, strong, and perfectly balanced. My meal came out hot, flavorful, and beautifully seasoned. It’s the kind of comfort food that hits every time. The atmosphere is cozy, lively, and perfect for a casual dinner, date night, or celebrating with family. It feels like one of those rare places that knows exactly who it is and continues to deliver a consistently great experience. If you want delicious Mexican food, a great drink, and a place with real heart, Tia Margarita is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend!
I love Tia Margarita, the place is solid, the food has even improved over the years from good to GREAT! Always great service, great people who represent the restaurant with grace and warmth, professional and yet personable. Luis is a wonderful server and Jennifer is a wonderful host, everyone who works there are so nice. The margaritas always hit, I really enjoy and look forward to going to this treasured spot.
Very consistent delish food, great staff, great margarita! Thank you Luis for your great service, sooo efficient, friendly and yet very professional. Fernando for always so accommodating even on short notice reservation. To Pedro and Mario for the best margarita. To Ana, Omar, and Antonio for being part of a great team always so gracious and with warm smiles! Going to Tia Margarita is like visiting family :} Love this place!

Tia Margarita is like a warm hug - it's one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood. The staff is always super friendly, the food is good and comforting and the drinks are great (and strong). My go-to items are the guacamole, enchiladas suizas w/ carne asada and a mezcal margarita. Ask for the spicy salsa. Tip - they take reservations so you don't have to wait!
Service was awesome! Every employee that walks by takes an empty plate or glass from the table and asks if anything else is needed. Food was great too. Speedy service! The mango margarita was delicious and the beers are cold!
You enter the premises and you see the big bar and a few tables only. But wait there are more tables in the back. The tables are quite crowded. We were seated in a comfortable area next to a wall but I could smell urine. I tried not to breath so heavily. By the way parking in this area is really bad especially during meal times. The service and food are good. You get free chips and 2 types of, mild and hot, salsas prior to your meal. The portions are quite generous especially the burrito meal which has two big burritos. An advise to you: make sure your server hears you correctly when you order chicken anything. I ended up getting cheese enchiladas instead of chicken.
Love the vibe of this place. To be fair I went for dinner and not drinks, though I wish I would have gone for drinks instead. Dinner was huge, it was good, but unfortunately not necessarily amazing in my opinion, there's so many amazing Mexican restaurants in the city it just isn't at the top of my list. The refried beans were yummy, as was the guacamole, the tacos were meh, enchiladas were pretty good, the salsa was SUPER disappointing. But all in all I would still go back with a group based on the ambiance and the service.

Intriguing at first but bland further on. Most of my group got plates with rice & beans, and the rice was not a hit; bad flavor and just not being authentic. Black beans are the way to go because the refried beans tasted mediocre. Ordered a quesadilla and for its price of $25 I got barely anything to fulfill myself with. In fact, the chips & salsa were better than most of the dishes. The good thing is that it was very lively and quick to accommodate a group of 10. Wouldn’t recommend eating here if you want authentic Mexican food. This is coming from a group of 10 Latinos .The server was hispanic like us and refused to speak spanish lol. White wannabes

This use to be our all time Mexican restaurant since high school. We liked the atmosphere - vibrancy , décor and staff. We went last night to reminisce for that nostalgic feeling. The décor looks the same; vibrancy was still there and friendlessness of the staff remains the same. You still have to use a flashlight to read the menu. In the old days, we used the table candle to read. The chips were super salty. It tasted like someone tossed it with a whole container of salt. I asked for non saltness chips and they said that was all they had. Too bad, I would have eaten more chips because the dip was well seasoned and flavors were balanced. Food quality went down. It didn't have that oomph. All our entrees were drowned with melted cheese. You couldn't distinguish the entrees because melted cheese covered almost the entire plate except for the salad. I could only tell what I was eating by the shape of the entrée. Even the sauce of each entrée was dried up with the melted cheese. You know what happens when melted cheese cools down - it becomes hard, salty and tasteless. I had no idea if the entrée was good or not. You're just eating cheese. I had the mango margarita that I enjoyed. It had an adequate amount of alcohol where you can taste it but at that price, I thought, it would have a little more alcohol so when the ice melted down, you would still taste the alcohol. I was totally surprised with the bill. All meat entrees had a $3.00 surcharge, so if you had two meat enchiladas, it was $3.00 x 2 = $6.00. We had five entrees with meat, so $15 was added to our bill. Because I had a flavored margarita, $1 was charged. In total, I paid $16 more than what the menu read. I asked to see the menu and no where on the menu mentioned meat and flavored surcharges. I questioned the waiter and he said he forgot to let me know. So who's fault is this? The waiter wasn't going to take the blame. I find this totally deceptive. We shouldn't pay more than what's listed on the menu. It's fraud. This is the reasoning for my one star. They should actually be reported for their deception.
This food was not good at all. Under seasoned. Bland. And my pulled chicken had dark meat in it ..it had a funky taste. Visiting from ATL. And was disappointed with it all. Well overpriced. Don't go.
Went here on a whim on a Friday night…and it was kind of insane in a bad way lol. $15 for chips and guac?! Better be good enough to make me believe in god. Everything felt like cheap food, but at high end prices for some reason. I’m talking like Taco Bell “cheese” cheap. Super inattentive staff…I’m not sure how long it took, but it took a long time to bring back a bottle of modelo.
